Karaoke night!
Kimbale L.

Cliff Notes Price Range: $ Parking: Plenty Perk: Singing, or at least trying Non-Perk: Smoke Ambiance: A smoky pub feel Noise: A little loud, especially when someone was trying to hit some of those unattainable high notes Temperature: Comfortable Recommend: 90%, it was fun but my eyes were burning from the smoke Dissertation Oh boy, where do I even begin with this karaoke night? Let's just say it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion, but with more off-key singing and less actual wreckage. First of all, the venue looked a little shady (but ended up being a blast) - dimly lit, plenty of liquid courage available at the bar, and a "stage" that seemed to beckon to me. Little did I know, they allowed smoking, which sucked but we made it work. We all had an absolute blast. Drinks were very reasonably priced; bar staff were super friendly as well as everyone in the audience. We cheered each other on, laughed at our own ridiculousness, and even made some new friends in the process. It turns out that karaoke isn't about sounding like a professional singer; it's about letting loose, having fun, and not taking yourself too seriously. So, in the end, even though our eardrums may never fully recover, I can't help but look back on that karaoke night with a smile. It was a hilarious disaster of epic proportions, and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Can't wait to go again!

Fish sandwich, garlic fries, black lab stout

What a find. I just happen to be passing by at the time I decided to get a bite to eat. Awesome beers Great food Great service Black lab stout with a fish sandwich and garlic fries, all was really good.

Is it a drink or a dessert? Either way you're going to love it. Show Steve this pic and he'll know what to make.

This is a great neighborhood bar with incredible food. Martin, the chef, can make a simple order of fries or chips and salsa taste like something you'd get on the strip. Steve, the bartender, has a wicked sense of humor and a great rapport with the customers. I asked him to make me something "sweet and ice creamy" and he knocked it out of the park. I forgot to get the name of this drink, but show him the picture and you'll be treated to one of the most satisfying drink that thinks it's a dessert!

I was meeting a friend at Geri's Old Philadelphia (next door) and had a 1/2 hour to kill since I got there early....so, I wandered in this joint to have a couple of Beers while I burned some time. The place is really, really dark. It took my eyes a few minutes to adjust to the darkness. After I got my bearings, I saddled up to the bar and asked the bartender what they had on tap. He said they had no domestics on tap and mumbled off a short list....all I remember hearing was Alaskan Ale, so I said let's go for that. Wait, isn't that domestic? Ha, ok.... He brought me a pint and I sat back and watched Sports Center while a handful of guys played Video Poker at the bar. They serve food here as I saw a patron get a Burger & Fries.....the weird thing is that they allow smoking at the Bar...hmmm, you're not suppose to be able to eat and smoke in the same place. They must not care about getting fined. Whatever....the place smells like a smoker's den, so I guess it attracts smokers. I don't think the regulars care. The bartender was friendly but quiet....not much of a talker. I had my 2 Beers and left to meet my buddy for lunch @ Geri's. Will I return? Probably not...this was a one-hitter quitter, not really my style of bar.

Sunday morning special come dowm.and try it

Fantastic grungy dive bar in Las Vegas!…read more I honestly can't believe it's taken us so long to check this venue out, especially since concerts are always free here. Our favorite punk band, The Mormons, happened to be playing here which is what drew us in. Loved the atmosphere with dollar bills and some R rated photo strips hanging around the bar area along with various stickers & graffiti filling the rest of the space. Truly feels like a quintessential Vegas dive bar. Bartenders weren't overly friendly, just there to do their job, but they served beers / cocktails quickly. We had a few PBR's which were $5 each. Fellow patrons were really friendly. I even made a friend during the show! For anyone with sensitive ears, the speakers are LOUD, so be sure to bring your ear protection. I loved the loud music, but my husband was suffering a bit. As per a usual dive bar, it is also smoky inside. If cigarette smoke bothers you, snag a spot near the entrance since they leave the door open for fresh air. This was everything I expected from a dive bar with a small stage for cool bands. We'll be back!

Just wandering around while friends were still asleep, exploring a bit, and it ended up being one of the best random stops I've made. Best dollar I've probably spent in Vegas was on that hot dog. I understand when a place is busy--but being busy shouldn't mean being ignored. We sat at the bar for about 15 minutes without a single acknowledgment. We decided to give it 5 more minutes before leaving, and finally at around 18 minutes, a bartender came over to take our order. Unfortunately, the experience didn't improve from there. Our food came out before our drinks, which already felt off. After finally getting our drinks and finishing them, we waited to order another round--but again, no acknowledgment. Meanwhile, multiple new guests came up to the bar and were helped before us. At one point, we were told "I'll be right with you," but then watched as they helped several other people, poured drinks, and even took shots with coworkers while continuing to ignore us. We kept getting the "two minutes" hand signal, but no follow-through. Eventually, I had to go to the well to ask for our tab. I was told "no problem," but then stood there for another 5 minutes while the bartender walked around helping others before finally getting it for me. It wasn't just slow--it felt dismissive and frustrating. I've had good experiences here before, which made this even more disappointing. Hoping this was just an off night, but something definitely needs to improve with service and awareness.

Welcome to Frankie's Tiki Room…read more This Iconic Tiki bar on Charleston Blvd/Shadow Ln on the east side of Downtown Las Vegas. It's the world's only 24 hour Tiki Bar, opening its doors in December of 2008, nearly 18 full years ago. It has a spacious but limited parking lot, bright neon sign, cool outside entrance and even more wonder inside. True to tiki decor with island themed fixtures, tables, patterns, seating and ambiance. Hints of surfing culture, rockabilly and retro. Perfect signature original or classic tiki drinks via their menu as well as full bar, soft drinks and beer. The Makalele Knockout is probably one of my personal favs with rum(s), lime, hibiscus and a incredible blend of flavors. However the Tiki Bandit, Frankiestein, Dr No, ScruV and numerous others might speak to you. I've been to Frankie's a few times about 10 years ago, so it was nice to stop in with a group of buds and share some convo as well as meet up with my oldest best friend and her wife, who ironically is who I came to Frankie's with those first times a decade ago. All tiki drinks are currently $15 and well worth it. You're able to drink, gamble (at the bar), smoke, converse, sway (good music) but limited space and enjoy the night or day away. Seating goes quick at night, especially on weekends, but arriving earlier (before 8pm) can help. Sometimes tables, seats and areas open up faster if you're patient. All the staff, including the bartenders and door guy are thoughtful and personable. We eventually got part of the area that's slightly enclosed with a great view of the entire bar especially being a group of 6 to 8 at once point. High recommend.

I prefer this place to Golden Tiki, as there are no time limits enforced on how long you can stay. Simply put, Frankie's is an outstanding tiki bar with outstanding drinks. If you're into the tiki vibe or all things tiki, this should be on your list of places to frequent.

Located on Twain Avenue, between Palos Verdes Street and Paradise Road. Their AYCD Thursday Nights (9PM to 1AM) is incredible and similar to their Sunday Funday beer bust, 4PM to 8PM. Located directly next door to FLEX, FHR offers more a rustic vibe, very leather/levi bar welcome of all. Cigar friendly, but it can get a little smokey inside, even with the doors open, you can smoke outside as well, just no drinks allowed outside of the bar.
