Lobster roll
Jesse W.

We'd never experienced a "fast food" place that specializes in lobster roll, so we felt we needed to stop by the booth while at The Well. We got our roll fairly fast without a lot of waiting, sat at a table with some tea from ChaTime, and took in the atmosphere of the open air mall at night. The roll and sauce for the Lobster roll were on point, very savory. Unfortunately the lobster itself was dry and overcooked. Perhaps that's why we hadn't seen a fast food version before. Still, a unique experience and a good tease at a "rare" meal that we hadn't had in a couple years.

Was a big fan of the former location near Yonge/Bloor and sad it closed down, but happy to hear they have this location not too far a walk from Union Station! All the favourites are there - lobster mac n cheese, fish burgers, lobster rolls and of course gelato!

Combo meal with the Halifax Burger

I elected to visit the Blue Claw of all the eateries in The Well based on a BlogTO write up. I ordered the Halifax Burger combo $16.95. The ala carte burger was $$12.95. I selected chipotle aoli sauce over the tartar sauce. The burger bun was light and fresh. I did taste bits of lobster in the patty but I did not taste any shrimp that is supposed to be mixed in the patty. The chipotle aoli was mild. The burger was moist. Overall I enjoyed it. It was a good choice to order the combo for $16.95 and it included fries and a beverage. You can choose any of the following for your beverage: soft drink, diet soft drink, water. The beverages were in the original cans or bottled water. I'm glad it was not from a soda fountain. You can order it to dine-in or take out. It is packaged differently based on your decision. Cons: A con in my opinion is that the menu and the descriptions were posted so high up and it is written in a light Capri blue font. It was so hard to read at that height, with that size of the font and the color of the font with a bright white background. I asked the cashier if they had a menu I could read. A QR code would have worked but there is no QR code to scan. She said that they have a printed menu but the pricing would be incorrect. I have mixed feelings about my experience at the kiosk but the burger was enjoyed

East Coast Lobster Roll

I've been to their restaurant location so decided to try this foodcourt version. Really liked the east coast classic roll, with its chunks of lobster and pillowy bread. The Halifax burger was ok, though seemed to have less lobster and wasn't as tasty as I remember. Prices are good for the portion sizes. Service is pretty quick. For a foodcourt, this is an elevated treat.

Lobster rolls are my all-time favourite food. All my close friends and family know that I'd eat them if they were more affordable and abundant (and with less purine ). Hence, I was hyped when I found out that Blue Claw Lobster had new locations in Toronto. I finally got to try them today. Overall, they're good, but nothing stood out. I ordered the Seaside sensational role since it is the cheaper alternative with shrimp/lobster mixed salad instead of the lobster-exclusive rolls (which I really appreciated!), along with an upgraded side of the lobster tots (+6 dollars). In total it was 25.93 including tax. I meant it is a lobster roll after all - I got the price. The roll bread was fantastic--probably the highlight of the meal for me. The lobster/shrimp mix was not bad at all either. It was fresh and delicious. That said, I did not get the chunks of lobster since I think those would not be served in the more premium options (East Coast Classic Roll & Barrington Spicy Roll). The tater tots were overly fried, which I don't mind but I think lots of people would not enjoy them. That said, the combined flavours of sriracha mayo and Pico De Gallo were surprisingly good. I still enjoyed it. The lobster on the tater tots was just some mere shredded meat; it was not very impressive. The service was ok, and the well food court was quite comfortable to eat at. I'll come back to try its Barrington spicy roll, and the burgers. There were also many interesting restaurants in the food court that I wanted to try too! I'm giving 3 stars because I think the Tater Tots upgrade was not worth it, and the food I ordered today was average and not memorable overall. I'll come back and try other options, though.

The market at the well is now open! I saw blue lobster shack and was so intrigued by their lobster rolls. I got 2 lobster rolls, 1 as a combo with truffle fries. It was about $50 for everything (yikes). The truffle fries were too oily. They weren't that enjoyable. The lobsters rolls were packed with lobster though and it was delicious. The only thing is that is place is a bit too pricey for fast casual food. It'll be a place I'll go back to but not often.

Overall this was a pretty underwhelming experience. I asked the staff for recommendations and they said this one, so I gave it a shot. It was a mix of shrimp and lobster which means it's 90% shrimp and some tiny grains of lobster. The flavor itself was just ok but it was very bread heavy. The fries were decent, the seasoning was decent but it could've used a bit more. I was so excited to try this but I don't think I would come back here.

I had a great lobster roll from Blue Claw. Being from Toronto, I didn't really expect the lobster to be fresh but i was pleasantly surprised to find that it was. The lobster meat was fresh, flavourful and there was a heaping amount! The bun was nicely buttered and toasted. Now, being in a food court, you can expect to wait a while for service, especially during peak hours. It took about 10 minutes to order and another 10 minutes until I received the roll, but the wait was well worth it. overall, would recommend you give it a try!

First time trying blue claw and I got the east coast classic roll which only had lobster. The bun was soft but prefer brioche bun for an airier texture. The lobster mix was ok in flavour with a mild mayo taste. I'd recommend paying extra $3 for the fries and drink.

A very average lobster roll that is overpriced ($20+). The bun is overly buttered and the lobster filling has a bit too much mayo. Service was quick when I went. Fries were well seasoned but a bit soggy.

Located in the Well food court, this lobster roll place caught my eye. I got the Barrington spicy roll combo with included fries and drink, and I upgraded to the truffle fries. While the truffle fries were amazing and tasty, the same could not be said for the star of the menu. The lobster portion of the Barrington spicy roll was bland and was not seasoned well.

Ate here a few nights ago at new food emporium at The Well complex. This is billed as a high end style food court with unique restaurants of which The Blue Claw is one. I ordered the classic combo with cold lobster in a hot dog bun, truffle fries and a coke. The lobster was very tasty but the portion was by no means generous for the price. The truffle fries were tasty as well. The atmosphere here is very busy and noisy like any food court.

New store at The Well. Very popular, there was a line up to order when I arrived. They had a promo spinning wheel where you can win, free pop drink, 10% off, free t-shirt, free combo upgrade etc. I had the Barrington Spicy Roll, and it was very tasty. Don't worry, it's not very spicy. It is a bit small, leaves you room to try other foods at The Well.

We occupied the ninth floor. I loved the location. I'd take the GO train from Markham down to Union Station, and take the PATH briefly to Brookfield Place. There are a bunch of elevators that don't all go up to the same floors. You need to find the floor interval that suits where you want to go. If you are a visitor, Brookfield Place is beautiful. I remember taking a couple of Swedish colleagues to a Toronto Maple Leafs game and we passed by my old workplace. The Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Brookfield Place. I suggested that they go, as they were huge hockey fans like I am. They went the following day and absolutely loved it. My love for Starbucks is due to working at Brookfield Place. I'd drop downstairs to get a drink and take a breather. It's convenient to do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat. There's a food court where there are many fast food eateries. I'm sure they have changed since I was last there. There is also a Longo's Market. I'd often get cubed fruit, such as watermelon and cantaloupe, that was easy to eat at my desk to keep me content throughout the afternoon. There used to be a Marche, where you can choose from sandwiches and hot meals. I don't think it's there anymore, but it was awesome. The top floor is where you get to see the high glass ceiling and gorgeous architecture. I didn't appreciate it when I worked here because it was a fairly crazy time in my life working full-time and doing a master's degree part-time. However, when I have returned as a visitor, be it during Nuit Blanche or when I'm heading to Scotiabank Arena, I appreciate how beautiful the crystal cathedral of commerce is. My favourite memory will always be lining up with a few colleagues to get a free heart rate monitor on the first floor of Brookfield Place. We enjoyed missing a bit of work, chatting with one other, and getting a health gift in return. I gave mine to my parents and they still use it to this day. I miss Brookfield Place and the various giveaways that take place. I don't miss the job that I had or the stress that I had experienced. Luckily, I do get to drop by whenever I'm attending a concert. You can enter and exit this eatery to get to the mall. I used to take Cantonese classes as a teen a block away. Afterwards, I had the option of hanging around this mall and then heading home by streetcars, or I'd go nuts and walk all the way down to Eaton Centre, hang around, and then go home. I loved malls back then. I can't say that I feel the same way these days. This mall is a shadow of itself, which is a shame. It used to be cool seeing vendors in the lobby. I got a sterling silver ring here when I was in grade 11. I still have it. Excellent quality. It still fits, too! Back then, bubble tea wasn't as popular as it is now. I did love getting iced pineapple drinks from a vendor in the basement. Sadly, it's gone, along with most of the food court down there. I saw two eateries in the basement that were left standing. The eateries are scattered on the ground, second, and fourth floors. Frankly, I don't know why the designers skipped naming the fourth floor the third floor. Chinese culture doesn't like the number four because it sounds like death when you say it out loud. Weird. The ground floor is the most interesting because it has the most stores. Sun Wah Bookstore has been kicking around for decades. It was nice seeing it again. Tung Tung Dan Quen King has bubble waffles and more. Sugar Marmalade is next to Juicy Dumpling, so you can stuff yourself with carbs and then go on a dessert high next door. There were a couple of Chinese herb stores, a pharmacy, a gift store, an optical store and more on the ground floor. It's such an eclectic, odd mix of stores. The second floor had six or seven businesses that were open. It was sad seeing half this floor vacant. There's a claw machine place called PaliPali Claw. I suck at claw games, so I didn't go in. Owl of Minerva, Clay Pot Rice, and Canteen are you eateries. I've never been to the fourth floor, There was a sign saying that Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant is there. It's interesting that it's the only business up there. I hope that there's a rooftop patio or something up there, too. Forget hitting the washrooms here. They are gross. You're better off hitting the washrooms at Chinatown Centre where they are passable. It was nice to return, but the Dragon City that I loved as a teen is long gone. Instead, I embrace ice cream, bubble waffles, and dumplings. Here's to new memories! (341)
