Such a cute place in a small historic town. The dining room is tight, but it's cozy and helps create a casual, fun vibe. The music is a bit loud, but it's easy listening and actually adds to the charm. If you prefer a quieter experience, they also have a great outdoor seating area. The food and drink selections are unique, with plenty of options, and everything we tried was delicious. The menu offers something for everyone, and everything tasted fresh. We enjoyed the eggs Benedict, an American breakfast, and the pancakes. There isn't a reason to give this place anything less than 5 stars.

Very delicious food and cheerful service. This place gets very busy on weekends, so keep that in mind for the long wait times

Wow this place is delicious! The restaurant is cute and BUSYYY. I got the egg and prosciutto sandwich and it was so yummy. the portion is a big size and the pesto added a great touch with the french baguette and egg and parmesan cheese. They did not hold back on the prosciutto and parmesan cheese

Food: 4 out of 5 Ambience : 3.5 out of 5 Staff : 4 out of 5 This is a quaint little eatery in their "downtown" area. Parking spaces on the street and a small parking lot in the back. The place is small so there maybe a little bit of a wait depending on when you go. Staff was very swift, which I get because they need to get customers in and out to decrease wait time. So if you are looking for a place to talk with a friend after your table is cleanered off, this may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking grab a quick bite and coffee, tea, etc then you have hit the jackpot. My hot chocolate was super cute and my food was decent. I would return if ever in the area again.

We love it here! First time visiting and not the last for sure. We were seated very quickly, but I am sure it gets super busy on a weekend morning. Worth the wait, in my opinion. It is very cute inside with the butterfly wallpaper and there is some seating outside for a warmer fall day. I was excited to see a lot of Polish favorites on the menu and will have to try those the next time I am back. My husband got the pancakes and I had the Paris morning breakfast (eggs, salmon, baguette, potato pancakes with cream, dill, and capers) and swapped the poached egg for scrambled eggs. It was so good and one of the crispiest potato pancakes I have ever had! My husband said he wished he had order that instead despite enjoying his pancakes. Our only complaint was that both of our iced drinks were warm on the bottom. Could be a quick fix by shaking the drinks with ice or just leaving more room in the glass to top with iced. Next time, I would just get a hot beverage instead.

Such a cute place for breakfast! The food and service was great and the food came quickly for a Saturday morning. There was a wait to sit outside but we got a table right inside for 4 people. It's also in a really cute area of the town to walk around before or after!

Nice little cozy corner spot with outdoor seating. Service was great. We both order some iced coffee that was okay. Needed a little more ice. The eggs Benedict were beautifully made and tasted delicious. We also tried the Paris breakfast - instead of the poached eggs I got them fried. The platter was okay. Wasn't too happy with the taste of everything on my plate but didn't hate it. Overall - for the drive that I took to eat here - I'm sure I could've picked something better off the menu to eat. Overall not a bad place to have brunch.

quite a delicious diner located in new jersey. my overall favorites dishes were the steamed potato and cheese pierogies that had the most hearty, comforting potato filling with the perfect bit of cheese. i also really enjoyed the lemon ricotta pancakes that were topped with the most perfect zesty lemon compote. both of these dishes really stood out to me. i liked the mocha but it tasted more like a hot coffee and had a very light chocolate flavor. overall the food was honestly incredible. i would 100% come back. service was great. of note, i did have to wait 25 minutes for a party of six and the restaurant was fairly busy so just plan ahead.

Great atmosphere, and speedy service. I got the chicken focaccia sandwich, and it was sooo delicious. Just the perfect sandwich idea with great execution. I'll definitely be back!

Charming little spot in Basking Ridge with exceptional service and delicious food. Went for a Saturday breakfast and just managed to get a table. The place was packed at around 9am and the lines kept growing during our time there. Our server was attentive and friendly. It was my first time visiting and I mentioned we wanted to try a few different items. She went ahead and split each meal; each plate presented beautifully! Clean space, friendly staff, prompt service, and tasty food! Blue Cafe is a place we'll be visiting again! Tip: Definitely go early so you don't have to wait.

Blintzes

Stopped by blue cafe on a whim today and wow I was so pleasantly surprised. Tried the chicken pesto sandwich which was amazing (the olive bread is a nice touch). I also saw they had blintzes on the menu and it peaked my curiosity as I've never had them before. These were sooo good with the blueberry compote. Food was filling and it was enough for 2 full servings for me. I ordered takeout today but the inside is cute with a few tables available. Outdoor seating also available and all servers were so sweet. Prices were reasonable for the quality and taste. I'll be back!

This place was an off the road stop on our way home. So glad we did! Adorable and clean restaurant with friendly service that really understands what kids need too! The food was perfect! I am part Ukrainian and enjoyed seeing some dishes from my past... I got the dish with pirogies, potato pancakes, kielbasa, and their homemade sauerkraut (I normally don't like it store bought, but this was fantastic ... like what I remember). Also, perfectly made cortado.

Freshly squeezed orange juice - delish!

This is our go-to place for breakfast on a weekend lately, especially due to variations of Easter Europe dishes available, that's rather difficult to find in New Jersey. Whilst there's no way to reserve a table in advance, once you do get in,service is super quick and everything we've tried from their menu was lovely. Ambiance is very cozy and European, from the setup,to menu,to dishes in which the meals are being served. Thumbs up!

Ask the Community - Blue Cafe

Do they take reservations?

No they don't but you can call and they will put you on a list if you have a larger party and give you priority. If that helps!

Are they still using plastic drinking straws?

No, last time I was there plastic was not being used. I had a very enjoyable meal and great menu from which to select my options. Other restaurants in Basking Ridge do use plastic, if I were you I would question those restaurants their position on…

Are they cash only?

No. They accept credit cards too.

It was interesting - we arrived at opening, and were the only patrons... except for about 50 beautifully dressed women! Apparently there were two large parties, one a wedding shower and the other a bachelorette party. And us. The ambiance is great. The place exudes a sort of sophisticated charm, the kind of feel you only get in old, established places with great food and great reputations. Our waitress was impeccable, well informed, and right on point. I ordered red lentil soup to start, and a turkey burger. The soup was delicious and warmed the bones of this chilled motorcyclist, and the turkey burger was juicy and tasty. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. I shall return!

For starters, the polpettine ($20) and bruschetta special ($13) was ordered. The polpettine consisted of prosciutto and mortadella meatballs with pomodoro and ricotta. There were five large meatballs with a nice heaping of ricotta and some toasted buttered bread. These were solid. The sauce and cheese was needed as the actual meatball was a tad dry, but the flavor was there. I did not get a real taste of the mortadella. The bread helped get all of the sauce and cheese leftover. The bruschetta special contained stracciatella, butternut squash, caponatta and balsamic glaze. There were two small pieces of bread. I was hoping for a little more here, but the flavors made up for it. It tasted like a cool fall evening with everything that was incorporated here. It was on the sweeter side but not overly done. The stracciatella really brought all of the toppings together. For an entrée, I had the gnocchi ($29). It came with a lamb ragu, and grilled corn. The gnocchi were cooked to a perfect al dente and tasted very light. They were the best part of the dish. The grilled corn was a close second as it stayed crisp even with the amount of sauce present. The sauce was actually a little sweet to my surprise. In regard to the lamb ragu, it was alright. There were chunks of lamb and it was a little inconsistent as a number of pieces were fatty. I also tried the butternut squash ravioli with a brown butter sauce. These were cooked to a perfect al dente as well with tons of flavor. There was plenty of filling and the brown butter sauce complimented them nicely. I also liked the hazelnuts on top. For dessert, the bomboloni ($14) was ordered. There were seven citrus-scented ricotta doughnuts with espresso caramel and dark chocolate sauces. We did take these home and had them the next morning. They packaged them well. They reheated perfectly in the air fryer. They were tasty. The citrus was definitely noticed, but not too overpowerful. The donuts were light and very airy. I really liked the texture of these. I was a fan of the dark chocolate sauce. I am not a big espresso fan, so the caramel was not for me as it had too much of that flavor. Regardless, these were a nice treat. Will I go back? I would.

There were tons of intriguing options on the menu, and it took me longer than usual to decide. The service was friendly and appreciated. For appetizers, the oysters ($1 each), and the salmon ceviche special ($21) was ordered. The oysters are typically $3, but on Wednesday and Thursday, they are $1. They were from the East coast and small. The cocktail sauce was pleasant with just enough heat. The ceviche had serrano chili, pineapple relish, and a micro salad. This was tasty. I really liked how the salmon was cut. There was a good amount present, but some parts were a little tough. I liked the combination of the spicy serrano chili with the sweet pineapple relish, but I surprisingly wanted a little more of the pineapple. For an entrée, I had the blackened pork chop ($38). It came with a roasted butternut squash puree, sauteed asparagus, and a pineapple chutney. This was great. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium temperature with the right amount of seasoning. The puree was a nice touch and the pineapple chutney paired nicely with the pork. The asparagus was nice in the puree and cooked ideal too. I also tried the sesame-crusted ahi tuna that came with a Jasmine rice cake, baby bok choy, and a ginger Thai coconut sauce. The tuna was cooked to perfect rare, and the sauce was essentially a curry which was flavorful. The bok choy was hardly seasoned though. Regardless, it was still solid. Will I go back? I would.
