5 of us at work wanted pizza so we thought we would try the Blue Bird Deli. We ordered a 18 inch pepperoni, ground beef, mushroom & banana pepper pizza so we would have enough. The pros: it was big enough for all 5 of us. They loaded it up with pepperoni & ground beef. The not so good: pepperoni wasn't the highest grade. Flavors were bland. Cheese was minimal and therefore hard to evaluate. Crust was a cracker. Price was about $30. Great pizza for kids or the soccer team as it's not at all spicy. It's typical uninteresting Dayton pizza.

This is the deli counter, but not the kitchen.

Good, handmade sandwiches. Great for lunch. There were not much seating but very good for takeout.

Was told "we are a little behind" and should be another 10 min. We got our over sauced, burnt pizza at 5:22. When question the person who checked me out , he say that's the way they always look. If this is the quality of the product they are going to put out, then this building will be for lease again real soon. As far as the ambiance, just a bunch of loud kids that were working there is all you can hear. As I think back I don't believe I saw an adult supervisor around. Anyway don't waste your money , you'll be sorry and just have to write another bad review.

Tonight was by far the worst. Our carryout pizza when we got home to look at was not a very attractive pizza. When we tried to eat it, it would fall apart, and there were several pieces that literally when you picked them up separated. Hopefully we'll get back to our normal experience on the next visit. The cauliflower crust is legit!

That half pound is way too much for me. I must admit I did have a few of his pretzel bites too, and Maggie had a house salad. The atmosphere screamed local place you want to enjoy.

Our drinks came out fairly quickly, and the staff seemed attentive at first. After about 40 minutes, we asked about our food and were told it would be out soon. Another 20 minutes passed with no food, and we noticed tables that were seated after us were already eating. By this point, our drinks had been empty for over 30 minutes, and nobody offered refills or checked on us. Around 65 minutes after placing our order, we asked again where our food was. Yes, the restaurant was busy when we arrived, but by then most of the restaurant had already been served. We could also hear staff in the back arguing loudly enough for customers to hear about how long the order had been waiting. At around 70 minutes, we asked for a manager and were told there wasn't one available, which is unacceptable for a restaurant. Eventually they comped the food -- which still had not arrived -- but still charged us for drinks. The attitude from staff also became noticeably rude and dismissive. The most frustrating part was that multiple employees walked past our table, saw four empty glasses, and never once offered refills or even an update. This is actually my first Yelp review because I normally do not complain publicly, but this experience was bad enough that I felt people should know before spending their time and money here.

Clientele was primarily older (retired) but still saw younger couples as well. Our waitress was nothing fancy but she got the job done and checked in on us a couple of times. I love finding old "hole in the wall" places and this is one we will hit again when we drive by. Not much in the gluten free realm, so keep that in mind. We will be back. Serve a small menu of breakfast all day...a true dinner. Was going to get a slice of pie for dessert until I asked if it was homemade...our waitress said they weren't so I passed. If in the area, it is worth a stop!

The tip from the previous diners was on the table & when the waitress came over I jokingly said 'I almost took your tip!' It was a joke & she 'not funny' as she walked by. It was a joke & when she came back to take our order she said 'we work hard for our money.' I said 'I work hard for my money too.' She then said 'I am only here to take your order.' My husband said 'it was just a joke.' Then the waitress said ' I will get someone else to wait on you.' At that, we left. Not sure what was going on with this waitress, but we were not treated right at all!!!! Too bad....maybe she was just having a bad day but we won't be back. We were not there long enough, but what we experienced was not good.

We had dinner here last night and it was great! We both had the turkey Reuben sandwiches. Thick, juicy turkey with a ton of sauerkraut and a delicious dressing! It came with chips that thick & crispy. Nice! I had a cold red ale to wash it down too. And the price was more than fair! The place was clean, staff were very friendly and very fast! (Not like the old days) And I paid with plastic! (Again, not like the old days.) We liked it. Food was great, came out fast, price was fair, place was clean - what more could you ask for! Settled into a former home modified to a restaurant and complete with a front patio and a back patio, this is a well-appointed, tidy place. We were immediately greeted as we entered through the back door and sat at a dining table inside. The staff is really friendly and offered some advice for us to order. We started with an order of cheese curds and ordered 2 cheeseburgers (the 'beast') with upgrade of fries, Asian salad with grilled chicken, and a turkey club with their in-house made potato chips. For Coca-cola product fans, they carry both Diet Coke and Coke Zero. Impressive beer menu - our table ordered one tall and one short. The food was very good. The portions large, and I suffered a case of FOMO enjoying my salad over the two beautiful cheeseburgers as well as the pizza at the table behind us. The fries are fried perfectly - lightly battered, crisp, and that gorgeous mahogany brown shade of a delicious deep fried delight. Our server was excellent and gave great counsel for what to try as well as efficiently taking care of us throughout the meal. Perfect balance of attention and service. On my short list to try next time is the pretzel with beer cheese (add Dijon), pizza, and one of those gorgeous cheeseburgers. Great spot!
