Blue Bee is back and better than ever in their new spot on Bethlehelm Rd by Libbie Mill. I am so happy for the new owners Mackenzie and Taylor and love what they have done with the space! You must check them out! The tasting room is so cozy with plenty of bar seating and comfy couches. The cider menu has all the old favorites with a new spin of a "song pairing" and I am anxiously awaiting new flavors once harvest happens and Taylor starts experimenting with new vintages! They have a snack menu too- chips, hmnad, charturie boards, and plan on rotating food trucks. They have nice outdoor seating on a spacious deck and a parking lot too ( approximately 30 spots beteeen their private lot and adjacent busineses) My rating rationale +1 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value
Cute new location, a little off the beaten path. Does not have the biggest parking lot lots of yummy drinks to choose from alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Very festively decorated for the holiday season. Very comfortable place to bring in food or games and just to hang out and have a yummy drink.
Friendly cute place but surprised at the flavors. If you're looking for sweet, this may not be for you. However the vibes are nice, the place is comfy, and the staff is friendly. If you want to go for a good conversation about random things then sit at the bar and enjoy a glass.
WOW. This place is just so cool. First off, find me another dog-friendly (inside) cidery. Oh yeah, that's right, you can't! This place is one of a kind truly. We were welcomed by the owners firsthand upon walking in and they took so much time explaining their concept and favorite flavors/recommendations. Turns out their flights are super affordable so we got to try a bit of everything and it was all SO GOOD. Unique flavors that I'd come back for any day of the week - outdid almost every other cidery I've been to in the states to be quite honest. Plus the interior is just so freaking cool and creative - such a fun theme with really well-selected decor that makes the overall vibe of this place into one of the most "feel-good" spots in all of RVA.
Okay I came here with my boyfriend and my dad since we love cider, and YUM! I loved all the options here. The staff were super knowledgeable about the product which helped me pick a cider, and it wasn't too pricy either. We loved everything we picked, my boyfriend got a tangy / slightly sour one, and mine was lighter and sweet. My dad loved his as well; everything was great. I liked that they had cheese and snacks you could get too. Besides the cider the ambiance was fantastic. I loved the outdoor seating area and the cute little tents outside. They were perfect for a cozy fall cider run.
My favorite spot in Richmond. Somehow I always end up here! I've loved coming throughout the years. Always a wonderful spot and atmosphere. I like all the ciders and enjoy getting flights to try them. My current favorite is the flowery Hops Addition. The tours are great as well; check for the schedule to plan ahead as they aren't very often. Highly highly recommended!

I am not a cider fan at all but was here being a team player. I'm not sure where we were in Richmond, but it seemed like it was a quiet, maybe artsy area. The venue had seating set up outside with picnic style tables and, in a garage area, additional smaller tables where the tastings took place. We were provided hand warmers and shown a table in the garage area while we awaited time for our tour and tasting. It was a decent size with 4 tables set up. This would have been a hands down fun experience if there was at least one or two heaters to make the space more comfortable. The tour guide was amazing. Fun, personable and gave us a ton of info about the process of making cider from picking the apples to how they label the bottles. The tour went much quicker than I expected and was grateful. Once back in the garage, we were brought out our tastings. There were two trays of around 5 ciders each. We went through each one and I was impressed with how different each one was and just surprised in general that there were so many different types. Who knew?! I would recommend definitely going in the spring or summer - not in the winter when its like 20 degrees.
Love the new location! Parking was easy, staff was friendly, and the space was easy going. Needed help choosing my flight options and was walked through the menu very easily. Hewe's Crab cider was DELICIOUS! Can't wait to visit again.
This is the best cider we have had in this state. They take such care to understand the nuance of flavors that can be created. True dry ciders, lovely, Sweet staff. Cute indoor and outdoor space. Awesome cheese pairings or snacks available next door.
Blue Bee Cider is one of the several cideries in Scott's Addison. It's a small stone building with a tiny tasting room inside also selling swag. Outside are tables, water jugs, and a few lawn games. They usually have a great playlist going outside. We ordered two flights and they really have a wide range of ciders from more sweet to more sour. If you like ciders, it's worth going!
A wonderful place to relax on a Saturday afternoon, they had plenty of outdoor seating (not sure if they have an inside area) and live music which was a nice touch. There's an inside area where you go to order and you can either get a glass or a flight of ciders; I opted for the flight as it gave me a chance to try a variety of flavors. There's street parking, and also a cheesmonger shop (across from the bar entry), I did not get a chance to check them out so not sure what kinds of snacks they have.
I give 3 stars for the cider but 5 for Blue Bee as a venue. I'm not a huge fan of cider in general, so maybe that's why I think most of them taste the same and just a bit boring. A six ounce pour starts at about $6 and they have flights for around $15. Personally I'd rather have wine or beer, but many of my cider loving friends enjoy Blue Bee. The tasting room is small and simple, located inside an adorable stone building that reminds me of a cottage. Indoor/covered searing is available in converted garages with roll up doors that let in sunlight and a breeze on a nice day. The outdoor courtyard has picnic tables and cornhole, and is occasionally home to food trucks or events like the Bizarre Market, an arts and crafts pop up with wares from local artists. My favorite thing about Blue Bee is that they also regularly host workshops to get your creative juices flowing, ranging from cookie and cupcake decorating to macrame and candle making. I've loved Blue Bee Cider since they opened and today's visit didn't disappoint. It's National Rosé Day so we tried Rosé Coder Slushies ... so good and refreshing. Blue Bee does some incredible collaborations that I've always found very flavorful and unique. This is a great place to come hang out with your special someone or friends. It has an awesome atmosphere and the staff is friendly and super knowledgeable. read more

Blue Bee Cidery is a delightful gem nestled in Scott's Addition treating you to apple trees, a former stable used by Richmond's finest and tasty beverages. We love biking there and chatting with the friendly staff. When I first saw a tasting on Cider, I thought I was being crazy! However, it is true! Idk how they do it and I was super curious. I was not wrong tho! The place is super nice, it is a really chill environment! Some families had their children and other were just talking! The staff was nice and they had a food truck that smelled amazing! Although, I would not encourage people to the tasting! It is not good flavory cider! Out of the 5 I tried and liked 1 but it was not even that good! I have to say that my expectations were high, so I might give it a second chance! If you are going, I recommend getting to Aragon Cider! It is rich in flavor and it is more fresh than the other ones! Most of their ciders are "dry". Overall, the place was okey! read more

Rocky Ridge Reserve and Firecracker are great. A little more expensive for a flight, at $15 for 5. Quality overall good. Staff are friendly Beautiful outdoor space. Dogs: allowed inside and out. Brought out water bowl for our dog. Have some private parking. Open earlier than other places on Friday and is a good first stop when cruising around Scott's Addition. Okay before I even talk about how great the cider is, I have to say the building itself is the perfect background for a picture! The stone and mortar is beautiful! I felt like I was in a castle. The girls behind the counter were super helpful at helping me choose a cider based on what I told them I liked in an alcoholic beverage. It's also in the perfect location as you can walk to other breweries, cideries, and restaurants! Check this place out! read more
This place is a gem! Your not too sure when your driving through if the area is sketchy or not; but then u find this fenced in driveway & courtyard to the Blue Bee Cider. It felt like an oasis in the middle of a desert! Beautiful stone courtyard w/cafe style seating and lots of areas to sit w/shade and patio lighting! Ambiance galore, and we went during the day, I bet it's gorgeous at night! Industrial but historical buildings done in an eye pleasing way. The young lady that did our tasting was super knowledgeable and made it an awesome time! Ciders were unique and refreshing, not your super sweet variety. We bought 3 bottles. I'm not sure where to start.. The staff was friendly and very helpful arranging everything for our wedding. I couldn't have asked for more. Mackenzie was amazing to work with and she was so thorough with all the little details from something as simple as table cloths to making sure tables were rearranged at the correct time. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and speaks for itself, our family and friends loved it. The wines and ciders we had were great, we most definitely got a few extra bottles to take home with us afterwards. There are multiple options with weddings or any other event at Blue Bee Cider which my husband and I thought was great as we did have a smaller wedding and a full buyout would've been more than what we needed. The location is great as well, I believe our hotel was less than 15 minutes away. This worked out very well as we had family and friends coming in from out of state. Also there are so many places for beautiful photographs at the venue and right outside the venue. 10/10 recommend Blue Bee to anyone who is looking at have any type of event as they do have the different event spaces available. read more

The cider is good and dry, but expensive for the amount you get. I like the vibe of the place and appreciate the nice patio. The food trucks are good, and if you don't like them, you are within walking distance of Lunch and Supper, Boulevard Burgers and Brew and Peter Changs. It makes for a nice little afternoon! read more

Really cool place to try some cider! I like that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. We went on a Saturday right when it opened so it wasn't too busy yet but later in the day, it picked up. I really liked that they gave your samples on little trays that explained each one, very helpful. All the ciders were wonderful but on a personal level, some tasted the same and didn't give me a wow BUT the berry one was DELICIOUS. Overall, I would recommend and go back if I was in the area. read more
5 stars for the cider itself (delish!), 3 stars for the atmosphere. Met up with some peeps for happy hour the other day and chose this little spot because I love cider and am not much of a beer fan. I know, I know, how am I American and I don't like beer. Well, maybe I just haven't tried the right beer? I don't know. So when I walked in, the owner was lovely. She asked me questions and we talked for a good little while. It seems like she was hyper aware that I was alone and didn't want me to feel uncomfortable. Brownie points! I chose to get a cider flight since I'd never been before and I'm all about trying everything out. Oh my goodness. I loved all of them except the add-on dessert cider that I decided to get. It was way too strong for me! I made the questionable decision to not have dinner beforehand so let's just say I was slightly tipsy when I left. Be forewarned: cider is stronger than it may appear! The inside is so cute, but tiny! They have chairs outside but it seemed like an afterthought. I was actually a little happy that I was only with 2 other people, because if I had brought a huge party, there would have been nowhere for us to sit. I'm glad that I've finally gotten to experience Blue Bee, and I'll definitely be back for some amazing cider! read more

This place is quaint in the middle of the city! You park in a small garage setting and there are adorable little tables and umbrellas. The shop is small inside but sells many types of cider, candles, bottles, shirts, hats, glasses, and more. The cider flight was good however it tasted very very similar to wine. Definitely check out this little spot! read more
I am a cider fan, both beer and wine. Without doing any research on Blue Bee, my friends and I decided to head over Saturday afternoon. I am not sure why I was expecting this to be cider beer but I was pleasantly surprised when we got there and found out it was cider wine. I understand they are new to this location, the building does have a sign hanging from the stair case but you will need to keep your eyes open or you will miss it. The front porch area has a wonderful view of downtown Richmond. The inside is small and plain. The back wall is decorated simply with bottles of cider and a few large pictures of different apple varieties. There is one large table with five folding chairs. We were lucky enough to have arrived right before a large rush and the five of us were seated here to do the cider tasting. I'll spare you my thoughts on all the ciders but I will tell you that I fell in love with the Harvest Ration, Blue Bee's dessert cider that shares the same characteristics of Brandy. The two people working were very nice and seemed to be quite knowledgeable on not only the ciders, but the apples and the different top notes of each cider we sampled. They had different packages available, some including the ciders or chocolates. Listed on the sales board were a few cheese pairing options as well. They also offer tours of the brewery. We did not partake in the tour this time around but I would love to in the future. This is a quick stop, not a place you can hang around all day and sip on ciders. I would love to see them expand and have a set up similar to a winery where you could host a small event. read more
What a great addition to Richmond. Decided to finally see what the Cidery had to offer and are now kicking ourselves for not going sooner. We sampled both ciders available, the Aragon 1904, named after the building, which is a really refreshing and easy to drink cider. This is not like any of the other commercially distributed ciders. The other was the Charred Ordinary, which is more of the traditional old fashioned cider. This one is very tart and in my opinion needs to be paired with food to drink but still delicious. While we were tasting, they asked if we wanted to go on the brewery tour, and who are we to say no? So we bought a small bottle of the Aragon to drink while seeing how the product is made. We were told that a different variety will be available last summer and a brandy will ready come fall. Yay, another reason to come back. This cider is only available in Richmond, seriously how lucky are we?!? I am pleasantly surprised by the quantity and quality of the product such a small cidery produce. read more

I'm a huge cider lover and absolutely enjoyed Blue Bee. You have a choice of different flights. I opted for the "Essential Ciders" flight. Their ciders are more on the dryer side but all taste great and have their only characteristics. A flight will cost around $15 for 5 flavors of generous servings. There is outdoor seating with patio lights and plenty of room for groups. I went on a weekday so it wasn't particularly busy but still had a nice relaxing vibe. read more
Came out tonight on a Saturday as this cidery and other breweries were having a pub crawl. Got a flight of all 5 ciders and the Argorn 1904 was my favorite, its sweeter than the rest but not too sweet. The whole place was rather packed at 6pm. A very "young" crowd, kind of loud but not rowdy. Their back room is bigger but also packed. All the furniture is kind of collapsable so be careful, i almost knocked my whole table over twice. I got food from a food truck and was fighting with people to get seating area inside anyway. The bathroom is clean. And they're inside room is rather warm. Most of their cider is very dry. And their clientele is kind of pushy tonight. (I.e. a few people tried to cut me in line, not that the staff didn't handle them great). Overall i like the one cider a lot, the others were pretty good too, like the staff who were very friendly but may not come again on a weekend. read more

This was such a cool venue! Attended a yelp event here but this space was so beautiful especially on a summer day. Saw some people playing games as well. The bartender was super nice as well. She let me sample their ciders before making my decision and she knew her cider info. Tried the honey infused cider and it was delicious! Hope to come back soon! read more

I love the old school charm of the building and the story behind it. Compared to the other cideries in the area, Blue Bee is huge! There's a main bar area and a few garage areas that have been converted to seating areas. The garages have wooden doors with small windows, but there are also large sky lights in the ceiling that help make the area nice and bright. The garage doors are always open when the weather is nice, so you definitely won't feel secluded from what's going on outside. The courtyard area is also large and you can often find a food truck serving of some of Richmonds best bites. I love the atmosphere and the crowd. It's definitely a fun place to be. As for the cider, I must admit, I love wine, beer, and cocktails, but I'm not really much of a cider person. Blue Bee has about ten regular ciders to choose from. Most seem to be on the dry side but all very unique. To add to that they also have occasional special events that highlight special ciders from them as well as other companies. If you're into cider, this is definitely a place to try. read more

Awesome branding and general vibe but the two separate spaces for the tasting room and indoor seating is a bit confusing. My group got a mix of their original flights and a special rosé flight. The originals (which I believe are all brewed in-house) were infinitely better than the rosés. Two out of five were so bad that they weren't even drinkable. I guess the only plus is that the rosés were largely from other brewers. I think if they stick to their own ciders they'll be good! read more

Such a great spot in Scott's Addition for those who are craving cider! I live within walking distance and love visiting when the weather is nice - they have a great patio and indoor area as well. The sampler is my favorite - $15 for a handful of their best ciders. Also have gotten a bottle or two to go and enjoy at home! Definitely check this spot out if you're in the area read more
