Friday evening relaxing. My wife found this place on a Facebook suggestion. So glad we went. BYoF - Bring your on food so can't complain about anything there. They do offer a cheese plate or meat cheese for under $10. Comes with a few grapes, crackers and nuts. The main course however is the wine. This evening they offered 2 white and 2 red. One sweet and one dry. My wife chose the Reseling blend and I the red blend. Both great selections. They also had a few bottled beer selections. This was our first time here. Loved the atmosphere in the barn that was fixed up nice. They had antiques on the walls of farming hand tools. Tables scattered through out as they had live entertainment. Guitarist and singing favorite country songs. Also liked how he was taking donations for the local fire department. Tonight you got a free mum flower with eat bottle of wine purchased. We already plan to be back in a few weeks. Oct 6 a revisit. Different singer this evening that sorry to say was not as good and promoted his own CDs vs taking donations. Not the Blue Barns fault though but did change the atmosphere. Still the same good wine and will still come back. Dec 24 re-revisit. Merry Christmas Yelp family. Took some time today with my beautiful wife to have some Christmas cheer. They had a nice cheese spread with crackers, dip, cookies and of course great wine. Attended a Eagles tribute band concert there last night and it was fantastic. The wine was good and the craft beers (made by Millersburg) were also good. Plenty of parking, a lot of tables and plenty of room to set lawn chairs. The music was great and not so loud to be over bearing. The atmosphere and the band were top notch, the whole venue is well organized and everyone had a great time. We'll definitely be back again. read more

Great winery with plenty of seating (they have a tent if you prefer the shade). Blue Barn has a wine list for everyone from dry to the sweet. The events are amazing and there was even a food truck available. However Blue Barn does offer a meat/cheese tray. read more

Had such a negative experience here. My family, friends, and I were wine tasting around Loudonville and Blue barn was on our list of places to stop. While we were at the bar, politely waiting in line for our drinks, the owner came up to us and told us bachelorette parties "weren't welcome- and it's posted on their Facebook page" Seeing as we had never even looked at their Facebook page, we were really confused. He said that bachelorette parties can get out of control, and he doesn't want them. Mind you, my aunt, mother, mother in law and Grandma were all with us. We weren't an out of control bachelorette party, and the whole theme of the day was wine tasting! He did let us stay because we had "old people in our group" who he felt could "keep us in line". We ordered our wine and sat ourselves out near the pond so we wouldn't disturb the other two couples in the place (one of which followed us from the other wineries and were already familiar with our group and having fun with us). The owner just made us feel very uncomfortable and very unwelcome the whole time. He served our group only in small plastic cups, even though other patrons got glassware. We all promptly left after our one glass of wine and moved on to more fun wineries. Skip this place. Much better wineries in the nearby area with way more fun atmosphere and staff. read more

A solid winery! My gripe with wineries is typically that they over compensate by sweetening their wine. It's like really funky grape juice that just barely went over the expiration date. Blue Barn has some nice, dry reds and whites that are complex and that don't taste like they should be a juice box in a lunchbox. The atmosphere is nice. Everything was decked out in Christmas attire, and was warm and cozy. The wife and I sat in a room off of the main bar area that had couches with pillows of all shapes and sizes. We split a bottle of wine and spoke in complete sentences. Now, that means we didn't have the kids with us, but the wines from Blue Barn made this an even more enjoyable experience. Judging from the outdoor furniture, Blue Barn would be a great place to hang out on a nice spring or summer day. I'm looking forward to coming back for the many live music performances, special tastings, and other events that are held here! read more

Failed to read other reviews prior to going here. Highly suggest reading the reviews to make sure it is a place for you (or maybe just not go). We spent the weekend in the area for a bachelorette party & the bride was most excited for Blue Barn Winery. Sixteen women willing to drink wine, remain calm and tell others about the good experience they thought they would have. Unfortunately, I am writing this review after having a bad experience. What a disappointment it was. We walked in to a very rude welcoming (I think the donkey's outside were more welcoming). Apparently, they were not thrilled with us being on a bachelorette party even after asking (and confirming) that we were a "calm bachelorette party." We stuck it out because we were in the area only for the weekend. However, the wine was just as disappointing as the welcoming. Not a good dry white option (the medium-dry is on the sweet side). Really unfortunate as the venue was pretty. Hopefully your experience is better than ours. read more

Love this place. Beautiful barn and lawn area. Friendly owners and workers. Great wine for little money. Saw Johnny Cash (Terry Lee Goffee) on Saturday night, he was awesome. The absolute worst wine tasting experience I have had. They pour samples in a tiny medicine cup, and use the same cup for different wines. To top it off the customer service was subpar. The person pouring our wine seemed like she'd rather be someplace else than be working there. We were a group of ten adults and had some kids with us. While tasting and socializing the alleged owner walked up to our group and belittled the moms of the group and asked us not to paint the kids nails (a way to keep the kids busy) and asked how much longer we would be there. I would not recommend their wines let alone a visit to this place. One of my kids just asked me why does the owner not like kids. Enough said. read more

The winery and grounds are beautiful. The wine I had was good. The service I received, however, has prompted me to write this review. Never have I been treated with such disrespect! The owners of this establishment need to learn how to treat people if they want to stay in business. My husband and I enjoy visiting new wineries, but I can assure you, I will never set foot in this one again. Judgemental, condescending management and staff. Heard about this even on Facebook! Easy to find! Excellent and easy parking and the grounds are simply gorgeous! You could bring your own food and they have tables and chairs ready for their guests! Friendly and clean and pleasant and helpful staff! Entertainment was wonderful and just a friendly vibe all around! You've got to come enjoy! All age groups seemed to be representing, so don't think it's for those of retired years, nice mix of beautiful people :) I'm not a wine connoisseur but that didn't matter, because I said the kind of wine I would enjoy and they led me to an exquisite choice! This particular event was $1 per person, but a token per admission which gets you a luscious glass of wine or a brew! What's keeping you, come on!!!! read more

The music was excellent (Johnny Cash) but the prices weren't the greatest. $25 for a meat and cheese plate that you had to cut up yourself with a small plastic cup of watermelon wine slushy...ouch! I highly recommend you bring your own food here to enjoy the good music. With your lawn chairs because the place fills up fast. Great people...nice clean venue! read more

The owner was rude and not friendly. The wines were average and the staff just didn't seem to want to be there. We found are other winerys in the area that have better wines and welcome service. The historic Barn and property is beautiful. Overall the we would not suggest this as a place to stop because of the unwelcome vibe. read more

What a cool place! A little country mix with a sophisticated vibe. We sampled the wines - all delicious. Purchased the Enchanted White Blend! Enjoyed a couple glasses on the patio overlooking the pond. Corked the bottle and made plans to return to hear a band later in the summer. We visited Blue Barn Winery for the first time tonight (10/5/19). My husband and I are 51 and have been married 28 years. We like to visit wineries. We've probably visited over 1,000 wineries since we've been married, and we have NEVER, EVER, FELT AS UNWELCOME AS AT BLUE BARN WINERY. Anyone who has been to more than a few wineries knows that if you can't finish a bottle of wine, a winery is happy to cork/tape up the bottle, and it's okay to take the remainder home. 99% of the time we finish our bottle, but we have on occasions had to do this (like if a family member calls, and you have to leave right away). We arrived at 7:30pm, and I already knew they closed at 8pm. I'd looked them up online that they had music from 6-8pm. I thought there was nothing wrong with catching the last 30 min of live music. We'd actually meant to be earlier, but had a slight change of plans. We thought our teenage daughter would be staying at home, but she wanted to go to a friend's instead, so we took her. We still wanted to go, even though it's a 45-min drive each way. We'd still have 30 min to relax, drink wine, and listen to music! Immediately after parking, we were told, "You know we close in a half hour, right?" We said we knew. On the way into the building, 4 other people also told us. We wanted to try to Rose, which was $7 per glass, or $17 per bottle, so it made sense to get the bottle for only $3 more than the price of 2 glasses. You can always take the remainder home, as I already mentioned. After we ordered, the female employee also told us they closed in 30 min. We said we knew already, but we've also been told by 5 other people since we got there (we were getting pretty irritated and upset about being told this so many times)! On our way to a table we were told by 2 more people! I think the count was up to 7?!? We'd almost lost count. We REALLY felt upset at this time. We felt unwelcome, unwanted, and sad. We listened to some music, and actually DID finish our wine by 8 (sweet wine doesn't take long to drink). But since we were upset about how we were treated, I thought I'd go in and talk to someone about it before I posted a negative review. I like to give someone the benefit of the doubt before posting any negative review. So at 5 min before 8pm, with 100 people still there (we were by no means the last customers there), I took our empty bottle inside to throw it away. (I'd noticed other tables leaving all their bottles, plates, and stuff on their tables when they left, but I don't like doing that.) I commented to the employee inside who had initially got us our wine how unwelcome they had made us feel, especially after 7+ people making sure we knew their closing time. I was directed to a table outside with the owners. I just wanted to let them know how awful we'd been made to feel. He said they get a lot of people that are there past 8pm that complain if they're asked to leave and that they're "darned if they do and darned if they don't" [tell people the closing time]. That's really not much of an excuse, because we aren't like that and would never be like that (we've both worked in food service and know what it's like for one table to stay 1 hour past closing time!). I said we weren't like that. I felt myself started to tear up. He never even said he was sorry, just that they always make sure to tell everyone their closing time if they come late. Then I saw my husband came up at that time because he could tell I was starting to cry (I rarely cry), but it really did hurt my feelings! So we simply left. As soon as we turned around to leave, I couldn't stop from full-on crying. I've never met such heartless, thoughtless, and inconsiderate owners. I couldn't believe that they didn't care at all how they made us feel. We drove 1-1/2 hours round-trip to visit for the first time, knew when they closed, finished before closing time while there were still 100 people there, and we were treated like dirt. Wouldn't it be much better to be nice to customers and say that we're closing at 8pm, but we'd be happy to cork/tape up your bottle if you're not able to finish it by then. That's what all other wineries do. They know how to be nice to people that could be lifetime customers (which we usually are)! It's incredibly rude to be told by 7+ people that we close at a certain time (implying for us to leave if we think we can't finish by then). So I wanted to write this to spare other people this horrible experience. Don't ever go to this winery less than an hour before closing time!! read more

Found this place on recommendation from a sommelier friend of mine. Such a wonderfully quaint place with a nice set of wines for 95% of people. Music is always a treat as they have lots of local talent showing off their varied tastes. I met the owners and they were so nice. I read some other reviews and I have to say I appreciate their stance on not hosting certain types of parties. People go to wineries to relax and enjoy the environment. Not all parties are rowdy but with the way the world is now, if you deny one you better deny the rest or you will get in trouble! Looked on their website and they had a band listed from 6-9 on a Saturday. We went around 4pm for wine tasting and was told that there was a $10 cover charge for the current band that was playing and they "didn't have time" for wine tasting. We were disappointed bc no where on the website was this listed so we just left. read more

My husband and I visited the Blue Barn Winery on Sunday and were more than pleased with the way both owners handled a family with unruly children. In my opinion, this is not the place to bring children, but there is plenty of room outside for them to run around if you do. Just wanted to comment about this, as we were there to drink some very good wine, relax, and listen to the entertainment (which was fabulous!), and we were able to do just that! I attended a wedding shower here. It's absolutely adorable and a great location for a small wedding reception too. They were able to bring in their own catering and we enjoyed a lot of wine. I had a sweet red which I loved so much I bought two bottles to take home! If it weren't so far from Cleveland I would certainly return quite often. read more

This was our 2nd visit to this winery. Unfortunately I would not recommend this winery and we visit many wineries in the area. Our group of 30+ came out to the winery on Sunday, September 9, for my birthday, and wanted to celebrate! We were treated with poor service in regards to no glassware were provided to us due to they didn't want to WASH the wine glasses! It was the last day of the Mum & Wine festival that weekend ... and there were no mums available for sale , also no meat and cheese plates were available for any of our guests to purchase (@ 1 in the afternoon !) My husband had to set up tables for all of us to be together... & when we were ready to leave the owner was rude and told my husband he had to put the tables back .. and EXACTLY where they were. No help from him! We had a good time but this type of service is unacceptable! We won't be returning and will not recommend this winery to anyone! Only good thing I can say is the wine was good... but not good enough to patronize this winery ever again. Thumbs down for sure! read more

I have been to this winery many times and I was excited to introduce it to my girl friends for little winery tour for Bachelorette party in 11/4/17. When we arrived a woman with long blonde hair was straight up mean to our groups of 8 to 10 women. She asked how many of us there was and if we had a reservation. We indicated that we would be about 10 and that we did not have a reservation. However their tasting room was sparse with patrons at best at 5 pm. She asked if we were going to be rowdy as we were their for Bachelorette party. Upset my out reception I indicated that we had some food coming and we would leave after we ate. Everyone including our Bride heard this. If we had not been waiting for another couple of people we would have left. I am sad by this because I love the wine here and wanted to share it with my friends who now think much less if the place based on their experience. Thanks to the others who tried to be nice to us. We even cleaned up our table and brought you our glasses before we left. I'll be finding some place else to buy my wine now. read more
