Overall, not great. We were quickly seated as there were many vacant tables. That was great. However, the tables had syrup on it and my son didn't notice until he placed his hand it. That cost them a star. The food was quickly served. The biscuit was excellent. The French toast and eggs were good. The chicken fried steak was Ok. The grits were bad. The hash browns were extremely gross. Stay away from the hash browns, which cost them a star. When the check arrived it was wrong. The staff fixed it but it took a little explaining when the mistake was obvious. There goes another star. The waitress was fairly pleasant and that's why two stars vs one. Maybe they were just having an off day but I won't be back to find out.

Coming from California we have been searching EVERYWHERE for a decent Mexican place. There was another review that said they were also from California and loved it. Not sure what part but no. One of the shrimp in my burrito was not deveined . My husbands tortilla was stale and the salsa had no flavor. The rice tasted like it was either a boil In a bag or some other premade thing. Crazy cactus in olive branch is where it's at.

A coworker lives in Hernando so we went here after a photoshoot by her house. The parking lot is a good size, unless its cinco de mayo you should be able to find a spot. We walked in around 130 and got a table right away. Chips and salsa came super quick and we order cheese for the table. The cheese was okay, a little runny, not super thick. Mild, not spicy. So I probably wouldn't order it again. The salsa was actually pretty good though. Like the cheese, mild, not spicy. But tasty! I ordered a combination plate. 1 enchilada, 1 taco, and 1 tostada. Our waitress never asked me if I wanted chicken or beef, which was a little sad. I guess if you don't choose one or get asked beef is their choice. The taco was good. Only lettuce, cheese, and beef. Not a ton of flavor but satisfying. The enchilada was probably the best of the 3, the sauce was tasty and topped with some cheese. This was my first tostada that I've ever had, and unfortuently I was disappointed. My coworker said it didn't look like a normal tostada. It was just a hard taco shell with beef and a little cheese on top. No real flavor. So I'll have to try a tostada at another place to compare.

Carnitas platter, ask for salsa verde on the side! The pork is amazing tender!

EXCELLENT! Food, service, staff! This location is owned and operated, by the same owners, as La Siesta. Were we have been loyal customers for years. They have a nice outdoor patio, that called to us tonight. We were not disappointed! Fresh chips and salsa. Salsa is on the mild side for me, so i ask for extra spicy sauce too. White queso is really good! Our go to meals, The La parrilla, is amazing! Think of mixed fajitas with shrimp, beef, chicken, and YES bacon!! ( this one is not on the menu, u have to asked) the one on the menu has added Ribs, and cost 2.00 more. This meal is more than enough for two adults. The next meal is the Carnitas. Huge chunks of juicy pork meat (fat including for awesome flavor), with grilled onions. Ask for a side of salsa verde. Also, my son loves the Yolandas enchiladas. Ask for a punch card. For every 6 meals, they give you 5.00 off. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

Nice, clean little restaurant in Hernando... very friendly staff, great margaritas & great serving size. Fast service... I had molcajete; not as traditional as I'm used to but tasted great. Beans were a bit watery, as was the queso, but taste was great. Thank you!!

But I thought that wasn't how reviews should go. So then in my head I started justifying all the ways I could make this 5 star. But - it just wasn't. My food was...okay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was a cool place with grocery items in addition to the restaurant. I'll go back. I'm a sucker for hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants. But my carne asada is probably 3 star. However, the salsa that came with our chips and salsa order was fire! Fresh, spicy, flavorful, colorful. The meal was expensive and just all right. But we shall return I suspect.

Food was fine, the experience and just the vibe was pretty cool. Exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. I'll definitely come back but will probably go with something more "basic" like tacos or a burrito. I had chilaquiles with steak and egg. Eggs were cooked exactly how I asked (over medium). As often occurs the cut of meat for the steak isn't the best cut of steak on the cow so while it wasn't chewy and gristly it wasn't tender and juicy either. Same with the wife's carne asada - we've both had better steaks at other Mexican places around here. The pork rind wagon wheels (I think that's what they were) were good but we got an order of chips and salsa as well ($5.99!!!) because one of the kids wasn't going to touch those wagon wheels no way no how. The salsa is very good - it's the red and the green mixed with pico de gallo and is quite spicy. All in all the experience and the vibe of the place was better than the food but I'm hopeful some different things off the menu would lead to a better eating experience. Don't get me wrong, the food was fine just not great and with the total bill hitting 95 bucks it wasn't worth that. But I will be back to try the street tacos or burritos.

I have found this place to be pretty consistent in my experiences…read more Granted.... I have only eaten one item here myself. I have now had the wife and a kid come too. They agree with me on my point of view, so here we go. My first visit I was totally skeptical. I had read the reviews, which seemed overwhelmingly positive. This is other than the asshats who get mad when they spend 8 hours of their "hard earned pay", and the all time classic of they "ain't happy this time, after all these years, they pissed me off this time" two star reviews. Side note: Spread the love when you can, and write good reviews when you have good experiences. Don't wait and write a bad one after one bad visit. Ugh. You walk in and it's bright, loud, hectic, gringos everywhere! I knew from the drop, as soon as I walked through the door it's far from authentic Mexican food, but totally "Mississippian Top of the Sip Mex" ™. That's another new one, you can use that one, as long as you pay me. Contact me for details, we can work something out. My number is (662) 513-0796. Now that the legal stuff is out of the way. Resuming.... My first visit, when my completely American server walked up and greeted me I was offered a "MS TOTSM" gosh durn bible of concoctions consisting of the same thing repurposed to trick the high brow MS masses to believe they have choices. I had not realized El Agave and Tate Reeves had so much in common. Stay on track, Adam!! This is Yelp! One thing stuck out to me that you generally see in decent Tex Mex to real deal Mexican food where no one speaks English. Chile Verde!!! I asked her about it, told her how reluctant I was ordering it based on her and my current environment (that brought a look), and she all she just said was "try it", so reluctantly I did. Sometimes I just need a lady to take control and tell me what to do. I'm there eating chips and salsa all patient and stuff... Boom! What comes out looks like baby poo. We might be on to something here!!! Could it be? The pork tips were swimming in green salsa, which was promising. I take a chip and dunk it in the verde.... Here we go! It's tangy, punchy, sweet, and spicy!!! Now all I need is the pork to not suck.... Holy shit!! It doesn't suck! It's actually good!!! Everything else is an afterthought. Rice. Blah. Beans. Blah. They are fine I guess. Just the norm, but the salsa on the pork steals the show!!! I eat it all up! I've came four or five times solo on lunch shopping excursions to Tanger and my Verde has always been a winner! On the family visit, C had a taco and an enchilada. Kiddo had the famous P-10, or MS Mush as I call it. They both ate it up so it must be good. Kid even took the rest home and ate it later. I'll be back for my baby poo pork! You can guarantee that!! I visited Agave Mexican Restaurant and overall had a good experience. My waitress, Taniyah, was…read moreincredibly kind, courteous, and polite. She did seem a bit busy and forgot about me a couple of times, but honestly, I didn't mind (this time)...I enjoyed the solo time to people-watch and savor my meal. I was seated near the kitchen alongside a group of younger waitresses, and the section filled with customers was mostly small groups and couples. Unfortunately, one young waitress (I'd guess around 18-20) was loudly using profanity, dropping F-bombs and openly saying she didn't care. It came across as rude and unprofessional, and I hope that kind of behavior doesn't become a reflection of the restaurant in the future. On a positive note, the lunch fajitas were delicious and a very generous portion. Despite the distraction in my seating area by the cussing, disgruntled young waitress, the food and my waitress's, Taniyah, friendly service stood out.
