I shared this on google but felt I needed to share it with the Yelp world that I so frequently reference and fail to contribute to as much. It is with a full stomach and heart that I am able to publicly share how wonderful Blu Sushi is. Not only is the fish the freshest, but it run by welcoming and friendly staff, chefs and owners. It is not often that you find a restaurant without any criticisms, but then I found Blu. The dining and take-out experiences are how all food establishments should be run. The staff are clearly happy and supported which makes it, without question, a smaller establishment that I am happy to patronize. If you are reading this and considering ordering or not, just do it. If this wasn't a take out order I may have walked out. The words that come to mind Horrible Putrid Disgusting Illness Stingy The spicy tuna, scallops, salmon, yellowtail, and even the fluke was fishy. The rolls were all vegetable without any fish. I heard good things about this place but didn't have the best experience on our night out with one of our departments at work. My food was overcooked to a point that I had to send it back (which I have never done before), and service was mediocare as well (we got a couple of wrong items, etc..). I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since the sushi items people got seem to have been good, I'd just stay away from the Filet Mignon (even though it's listed as recommended on their menu). read more

I' am a sushi lover. Now im making my boyfriend eat sushi with me, he never had sushi before. Recently we been going out on sushi dates and so far this is our favorite sushi spot right now. Great costumer service, sushi here is amazing . The waitress is always the same women, by the way she is so super nice and profesional. Always has a smile on her face. Me and my boy friend love this place. we been here twice already and so far so good. The place is perfect for a quiet evening date, it's so relaxing in there. They have the best love 80/90's music mix, playing in the restaurant but really quietly. Thats my fave part, cuz you enjoy ur food while having some romantic quality time with ur significant other. I decided to try a new sushi restaurant in town when my "regular" place was closed. Blue Sushi was excellent including their service, ambiance, and artistic presentation of their dishes. The sushi rolls and sashimi were super fresh and delicious. I had the hamachi sashimi and it was sooo good! This is a little gem of a restaurant. I would highly recommend anytime! Our favorite sushi at the shore is finally in Ridgewood!!!! We take the train from NYC just to eat here. The service, food, presentation and ambiance are all outstanding. You can really taste how fresh the fish is. This is a family owned restaurant, and the owner Rob is there every night making sure his customers have a great experience. I ordered the Tiger roll, scallion and yellowtail, and tuna rolls. All were very delicious and the ched was very generous with the fish. My vegetarian tagged along and ordered the vegetarian udon, which, honestly, could have used some more variety of vegetables. We were lucky that they were able to seat us on a Friday night at prime dining time without a reservation. Small place and service is pretty quick. The rolls were delicious and beautiful. The plating was amazing and their specialty rolls were interesting and hit the spot. I truly love the sushi here, it is fresh and they do an amazing job. However- I placed an order one day in advance to pick up my take out order and when I got there it turns out they forgot it. I drove 30 minutes to blu just to have to wait 40 minutes outside in my car for the order. I was really disappointed by this and they did not offer any $ off or add in anything, which most restaurants do when they mess up. read more

Worst service & food ever! Food took over 2 hours to get thru Uber eats. Uber eats was told order was ready after 80 mins & when reported to pick up food was not ready for an additional 35 mins. Staff unresponsive. Terrible service. Did nothing to right situation! Terrible terrible customer service. When I called the store they told me they were busy & they would give me a $20 GC - lie .... we got nothing!! In addition - when we finally got the food it was TERRIBLE the food was poorly prepared - I gave specific instructions on chicken teriyaki ( veggies in separate container) because my children will not eat the chicken if it touches veggies .... everything was thrown together & looked disgusting. The sushi smelt like rotten fish. My husband was nauseous after first bite. It was a horrible experience & we will NEVER order again! read more

Love this place. I'm very picky about sushi, there are only two places I go consistently and this is one. Pretty much 2 things will always make me stop going to a sushi place and I've been here about 7 times and never experienced either. #1 when sushi is not cold and not fresh I can't eat it, Blu sushi always has a bite to it, you can tell it's fresh . #2 (this one's more of a pet peeve) some pieces of sushi have a little piece of fat or I'm not sure what it is, but when you bit into it, it's impossible to chew, I can't believe places serve you pieces with that in it, Blu sushi never does . I also am not a fan of the chopped rolls, they have plenty else to offer, definitely recommend. The atmosphere is also great and the staff are so nice. read more

Keep in mind this place is still new and doesn't have a permanent sign above the entrance or hard covered menus at the moment. But the food quality is great! I have been lucky enough to frequently eat amazingly good sushi in manhattan, but great sushi has been unheard of in Jersey for me UNTIL I accidentally stumbled into BLU after seeing my Primary Care doc that works in the area. OMG! I will definitely be returning to BLU for their amazing sushi! The Crazy Crunch Salmon Roll contains salmon that melts in your mouth!! (The last time I had salmon like this was at one of my favorite manhattan restaurants named Koi!!). The Golden Spider Roll was deliciously warm and sort of crispy... just amazing! The Green Salad with ginger dressing was fresh and just like most ginger dressings. The waitress was also very sweet and attentive (I was the only one there, lol) but I definitely appreciated her wonderful service. I will be coming back very soon and I would recommend for everyone to try BLU if they are sushi lovers. read more

Out with friends that frequent this little sushi joint and I have to say it was everything they said it would be. So fresh it was swimming in our plates. The special rolls were very creative and tasty. The crazy crunchy salmon roll and the Golden spider roll were my favorites. Try there sushi pizza smothered with spicy sauce. The only drawback was the wait after we were seated. Don't expect to get your food quickly, they are very busy with takeout orders. Bring plenty of wine while you wait. It's worth it. read more

Came here based on great reviews. Place was busy and that's a good sign; however, they couldn't handle serving multiple tables. Placed our order and the waitress was gone for an HOUR. Didn't even bring out miso soup or edamame. It was 8 of us but for some reason only one glass of water was offered. Once the food came out it was ok and nothing spectacular. As a basic taste test I will order a tuna handroll. I was not impressed with their sushi, quality and taste wise. I'm not saying their sushi is bad, just nothing to write home about. My absolute favorite sushi restaurant EVER. Blue Sushi has the best sushi I've ever had and I never grow tired of eating there! Their sushi is so fresh, and their other dishes (such as the fried rice) are amazing as well. The service is great and everyone who works there is very polite. My favorite thing on the menu is the spicy tuna roll. I'd 100% recommend for dinner with friends or a date. Blu Sushi is the best place for sushi in Ridgewood. High quality sushi and rolls. The Uni is a must try, very good. Instead of my usual choice of miso soup I tried their clear soup, which was really good! Mushrooms and scallions were very fresh and crisp. The king salmon is superior in taste to any other salmon I have had. Bluefin is also a great choice too. At my last visit I ordered the incredible roll, you should too! read more

Such a wonderful addition to town. It is a small beautiful place that is very accommodating. The menu is extensive and includes a kids menu of more basic kids foods (including mozzarella sticks!) boy child had the Philly cheesesteak rolls which he said were amazing. Girl child had the steamed veggie Gyoza and cucumber roll. Boy child and I shared 4 amazing rolls - one more delicious after the next. Golden spider roll, regular dragon roll, pink angel roll and .... Memory is failing me. AND I hear they deliver!!!!! Can't wait to try that out. Best of all, I left my credit card by accident. Had lunch there yesterday, it was a great experience. Our waitress was so friendly and accommodating. We had a bunch of baked goods in boxes with us and she was so nice that she put them in their refrigerator for us. Everyone else we dealt with was equally friendly. I had a business lunch here. They were very welcoming and attentive, even while I waited for 20 minutes for my colleague to arrive. The green salad was very fresh and the ginger dressing was not overly gingered. The special, toro jalapeño was delicate and flavorful. The Golden Spider roll was unique. It was light, which I would never describe a spider roll to be, and did not have that "thrown in a fryer" attribute characteristic of the dish. Try this place, it's worth it. read more

Girlfriend and I took one of our friends here for dinner and I would say we all had a great time. The restaurant is really small, at first we thought we wouldn't be able to eat there unless we had a reservation, but luckily they accept walk ins. The quality of the sushi was amazing, but the portion of cut compared to other sushi establishments were very tiny. The presentation of the of the dishes were beautiful. The plating was really unique. I think the atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice as well with professional staff constantly checking up on us, letting us new comers get some insight. The price was decent, more leaning towards the expensive side. I personally recommend their sushi deluxe dish, it gives a nice variety of different sushi to try and you're pretty content afterwards. The only thing I didn't like was the location of the restaurant. It was really hard to get parking. I parked at the local grocery store parking lot because it's mostly street parking. There is a commuters lot across the street but it's always booked it seems like. Other than that, definitely recommend others to give this place a try. read more
