Wednesday afternoon
Jim Y.

Just moved to the Boston area about a year ago, and after searching for a good Chinese/asian restaurant, Blu Karma is hands down the best. The menu selections are the best of the best of what I always order in Honolulu, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, with great Chinese and pan asian dishes like pineapple fried rice and sushi. Parking is limited in their small lot, and if you're picking up on holidays or busy game day weekends, it's tough to turn in only to have to reverse out onto the busy street. Simply the best of the place, imho.

Start off by saying this fish is FRESH! We loved all the rolls we had, but we are always blown away by the flavorings. The scallop lobster roll was great, but we will definitely not get it again. We realized this when we had the spicy edamame and the blu karma roll are incredible! This is a cute spot, definitely small so be aware at busy times. But even though we went on a busy time in a Friday, our waitress was amazing and the sushi chefs were quick and constantly on the go!

Lively spot for a Wednesday night, but got in quickly. Food came out in less than 5 minutes and was great. Staff was attentive, and will look forward to exploring the menu more in the future.

Lunch specials (June 2023)

We came on a Thursday afternoon and it was surprisingly busy. The restaurant is small and they offer some outdoor seating. We ordered the Thin-Crusted Sushi Pizza, Chili Wontons, Crispy Calamari, California roll and a nigiri set (from the specials menu). All the food was good, with my favorites being the calamari, and nigiri set. The calamari was huge, lightly crispy and a bit spicy which I enjoyed. The fish quality is also good. It is a little pricey, as I expect these prices more in Boston. They offer lunch specials on weekdays. They have a small parking lot and there is a plaza across the street. Service was good and friendly, however the staff watched all the tables very intensely which was a bit uncomfortable sometimes. It seems that they recognize regulars which is a nice feeling.

Striking, authentic Asian food in Danvers? Yes indeed. Professional, courteous staff, clean simple decor, and great food.

Another "I'm sorry we lost your order slip". So instead of 30 min for pickup it's going to be 1hr 20minutes. Should I just jog in place?!?!?

Do they have outdoor seating?

Yes but you have to call ahead for reservations. Their sushi is the BEST around so usually crowded don't just walk in

We had some spring rolls for an appetizer and then it was time to dig in! The server was excellent! She brought us bibs gloves and cracking implements for our lobster. It wad a win win along with the game! Lots of big screen TVs and a view of the Salem walkers rounded out the experience!

Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience at Ginger Cajun…read more We arrived as a party of three and were initially told there would be a 15-minute wait, which was perfectly reasonable. Shortly afterward, we were offered seating at the bar, and the hostess was kind enough to bring over an additional chair to accommodate us. I genuinely appreciated her hospitality, and she deserves recognition for that. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. The bartender somehow managed to spill an entire glass of water all over my friend, which certainly wasn't the start we were hoping for. The food was incredibly overpriced for the quality and portions provided. I ordered the pork ramen, which was particularly disappointing. The pork was practically flavorless, and the portion of noodles was laughably small. To make matters worse, the noodles themselves were genuinely disgusting, arriving in one giant, clumped-together glob. Frankly, it's no wonder they give you a fork instead of chopsticks. You'd practically need construction equipment to separate the noodles. The bowl also contained three enormous pieces of bok choy and a ridiculous mountain of bean sprouts, seemingly piled on to create the illusion of a substantial meal. Apparently, the strategy here is to compensate for the lack of actual ramen noodles by filling the bowl with as much cheap vegetation as physically possible. If I wanted a bowl of bean sprouts with a few noodles hiding underneath, I would've ordered a salad. To make matters worse, gratuity was automatically included in our bill. I strongly disagree with this practice, particularly when the service and overall experience leave so much to be desired. Customers should have the opportunity to determine an appropriate tip based on the service they actually receive, rather than having that decision made for them. Given the pricing, disappointing food, and overall experience, I left feeling that this restaurant prioritizes maximizing revenue over providing customers with a worthwhile dining experience, particularly during the busy October season. Before leaving, I made one final stop at the bathroom, where I deposited something with considerably more substance than the pork ramen they served me. The hostess was genuinely pleasant and accommodating, but unfortunately, that was the only highlight of our visit. Overpriced, underwhelming, and absolutely not worth a return visit.
