This place has a small parking lot so get here early or at an off peak hour for the convenience! We went for the sushi boat for 2 and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi. I'm not normally a sashimi person (due to my experience with mediocre sashimi) but the taste here was quite fresh and delicious! Also another highlight is the $1 oysters on Sunday only which were absolutely delicious with the sauces they provide. Only 12 per person which seems like a lot but if you like oysters it's better to bring someone who isn't a huge fan to get more! We also got some pad Thai which was a bit different (lettuce and no bean sprouts). It wasn't bad and the chicken was very tender but it wasn't anything super special. We stopped by for dinner last week, and fell in love with Blu Karma. They have an extensive menu featuring plenty of options for sushi lovers (and sushi not-so-much-lovers, too). We were pretty excited about the Yelp offer for a free appetizer, so make sure to use that if you go! The ambiance is great, service was very good, and they play fun music so it's definitely a good time. Plenty of veggie-friendly sushi rolls, and many unique ones for those who like fish. Meh. Unpopular opinion of the bunch but we really didn't care for this place at all. After reading the amazing yelp reviews from all you fellow yelpers, we decided to dine in for lunch. The place is TINY. We weren't welcomed by the most friendly lady, but it is what it is. The room also looked like it needed a deep cleaning - which is never a good sign. The food was just OKAY, nothing out of this world good very bland. Lunch specials are a nice touch for value, however the flavor on both dishes we ordered was seriously lacking. Service was horrible, never asked how anything was, dropped the food and had a stink eye the entire time. After hearing numerous people rave about Blu Karma, we decided to give it ago. I'll start by saying every single person in my family was disappointed by the food. I didn't have one happy camper out of the 6 of us The food is incredibly expensive for the portion size you receive. My kids literally spit out the beef teriyaki and said it tasted sour. The garlic green beans were ridiculously salty. I'm accustomed to salty Chinese food. This was on a whole other level. The scallion pancakes were greasy and gross. It's sad when Trader Joe's frozen ones are tastier. The shrimp lettuce wraps were underwhelming. The larb spring rolls were also hated by my spring roll loving kids. The only thing everyone liked was the Katsu. I 100% will not give Blu Karma another chance. First impressions were not pleasant. read more

We have been meaning to try Blu Karma for awhile and it looks like we picked a busy night to do so! The parking lot was packed so we had to park across the street. The inside was even busier- the wait was estimated at about 20 or so minutes, but we ended up getting seated sooner. Something to note that the waiting area is fairly small so be conscious of that in bad weather. Overall, the experience was fantastic. Many folks in there were personally greeted by the employees, which meant I assume they're regulars. Our server was kind and efficient - made sure to check in but also left us alone to enjoy our drinks/food. We ordered the sampler to start and they allowed us to sub out the spring rolls and shrimp, which was great. For meals, we ordered chicken + veggie fried rice, Hunan chicken and chicken lo mein. Everything was so good! The portions are also quite large. The only disappointing part was the chicken/beef teriyaki on the sampler. In my opinion, the texture was a bit off and it lacked flavor for both. We didn't end up really eating them. However, everything else was fantastic. There's a reason this place is so busy! The vibes were really great and everyone seemed like they had a great time. We will definitely be back! read more

Blu karma was one of our family favorites. Spending time with the owner during dinner and catching up we were in very frequently. Since Covid, many changes have happened. Unfortunately, the taste HAS changed... I didn't want to write this for the last 4-6 months. In that period, I have decided that I would order more food and give them a chance to redeem what has gone wrong. But, it will never be the same. Blue Karma had the freshesf pork fried rice and the freshest everything when the doors opened and the next few years after..... we ordered beef teriyaki, which is like a staple for this restaurant.. and it tastes simply like chemicals and old meats. No nice way to say it. DO NOT EAT THE BEEF Teryaki!!!!!!! I've been charged for my take-out and got home realizing that I was missing some items, I called and said something about it and they told me I would be credited the next time I ordered. I've ordered many times since this has happened and I never noticed a credit. I'm not one to call somebody out on these things... but overall I am super saddened that Blu Karma is not fresh and delicious like it used to be the first few years of being open. I won't order her again. We on average spend 120$ and visit 3 times a month at least... Many others in our circle agree and word has spread. Maybe they will shut down and clean.... We've been here twice so far and highly highly recommend. The rice to filling ratio on their sushi rolls are on point. We tried various dishes including the seafood salad, peking duck, maki rolls, and their pad thai. Everything was terrific and so delicious. So glad we found a great sushi spot in the Northshore. This review is for a pick-up order. I called and ordered 5 items (edamame, spicy tuna crispy rice, ebi mango maki, spider maki, and tiger maki) on a Sunday evening and the person I spoke with was very polite and professional on the phone. I parked and went in to pick up my order and was greeted and quickly got in and out. Once I got home, we opened the food and everything looked great. Unfortunately, we only got to try the Ebi Mango Maki because upon trying to eat one of the rolls, I discovered a black hair in the sushi (gross!). It goes without saying, I completely lost my appetite after that and was unable to enjoy the rest of my order. When I called Blu Karma and informed the manager, she insisted she would only credit me back for the roll with the hair in it and if I wanted a full credit for all of the other food I didn't eat, she would have to drive 30 minutes to our home to see for herself. What?!?! I offered to send her a photo - is that not sufficient enough?! I was in complete disbelief and appalled. When a customer calls and tells you there is hair in their sushi and hasn't eaten any of the order and offers to send you a photo for proof, you provide them with the full credit and treat them with respect and apologize for the hair in their food. Period. That was the most absurd, and rude customer service I've ever received following a terrible experience. I will never return and I plan to spread the word about this experience at Blu Karma. Learn how to treat your customers in the future - especially when they call and tell you they've found your employees hair in their sushi. read more

I very much enjoyed our late lunch/early dinner on Friday. I came with my family (including my infant baby) and were seated right away. The owners are very nice and the food is excellent (see my pic with our delicious sushi boat!). They also were very accommodating to my mom's no-salt diet. They have an array of chinese and sushi on their menu. But my favorite was the foie gras nigiri and their shitake mushroom maki! They are a must-try! I also suggest their basic and specialty makis as the sushi is very fresh. You can tell their food is made with love and that they care about their patrons. I will definitely be back. I ordered the pole bowl with tuna and it was so delicious! The menu doesn't provide a choice of whet you get in your bowl but, I loved everything I got in it. The seaweed salad was delicious, as well as the seasoning on the raw tuna was so yummy! Great flavor and seasonings. The lunch special came with 3 pork gyoza dumplings and the sauce for dipping was divine. My daughter ordered the Idaho maki roll extra crispy and she loved it! Blu Karma had been on my list of sushi restaurants to try for a long time. I finally had the opportunity to dine here tonight. Although the food was only three stars, the service was definitely four stars. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and the waitress was very attentive throughout the meal. The restaurant had a very intimate atmosphere and the crowd seemed very much like regulars but you feel like you can fit right in thanks to the wonderful customer service. Three of the items we ordered from the special menu were no longer available by dinner so I decided to order the sushi boat for two to sample their sushi and sashimi. We had the Asian tuna tartar for starter while we awaited our sushi. While my husband was first to say that he liked this dish, I had an opposite experience. Somehow the flavor profile reminded me of pizza flavored nachos but with raw tuna? Also, the broiled yellow tail collar we ordered was larger than a lot of other restaurants where we have had this dish. It was the highlight of the dinner. The sushi boat for two was very disappointing. All of the fishes tasted cold and flavorless. Overall, low quality sushi. Parking is limited. Just called to place a large take out order for a bday meal and asked what I believe is reasonable question...in general what types of sushi/sashimi do your chefs include on their boat for two. Stopped by here for lunch one day during a conference and so happy that we did! Yelpers, check in and get their must-try crab chips for FREE. Huge portion and super tasty. Loved the crispy crunchy chip cups. See pic provided. For our lunches, we shared the salmon sashimi, makimono combo and the Dragon Eye. All the rolls were prepared very nicely and the sushi was very fresh but the Dragon Eye appetizer took home the prize. It was delicious and something that was prepared a little differently that you don't find in other sushi restaurants and that's what I love most when trying out new digs. Yum, I really enjoyed the sushi here. The server took awhile to get to us or even greeted us when we sat down, but when he finally did he was decently attentive. You can tell they have regulars there by the relationship they have with certain customers, which is nice to see. The presentation of the food is great, which compliments the sushi. My husband and 2 sons treated me to Blu Karma for Mother's Day, knowing sushi is one of my favorite foods, while also knowing that I rarely have a chance to enjoy it as I'm consistently outvoted when it comes to dining out choices. It was lovely. The whole experience. We were seated immediately and our server came over and greeted us with a beautiful smile and pleasant demeanor. The atmosphere was average. Nothing spectacular but also clean and neat. I'm the food was absolutely incredible. I hate when the food comes out quickly, because it's obviously been sitting around.
