There is NO ductwork at the inside unit. There is a plenum which goes into the attic where the ductwork is. There was insulation missing on the chilled supply line from the exterior AC unit. That was not repaired. And he never looked at the ductwork at all and it was in need of repair. After five other companies/people looked at it, Hale's not only fixed the problem the first time, they spotted stuff that once they pointed it out, should have been obvious to the other guys--and I had a big name that runs ads on the radio out first. The big name company missed the obvious problems. Hale's did not. Everyone they've sent out or I've talked to on the phone has been polite and ready to help. On top of that, their guys are honest and explain everything clearly. I understand my system better now, and this past week when I had another problem, they explained all my options simply so that I could make an informed decision. Fair prices and they got to me fast both times I've had them out. These guys are the real deal. I'm calling them first for all my HVAC needs from here on out.

Using Yelp, and its star reviews, I selected family-owned Sandfield Air Systems. My wife and I are in our 80s and enjoying the quiet life of retirement. Brett was our service technician and after patiently listening to my telling him how to do his job, assured me our thermostat was not likely the problem, but just a symptom. He demonstrated how over time the system's humidity drain becomes blocked and in doing so, can trip it's overflow cutoff switch, thereby shutting the entire system down thereby avoiding flooding of the attic and everything below. Finally a technician that not only knows his business, but can educate customers about system operations well enough to minimize future occurrences. Equally important, he explained more about the functionality of our system and the optimum settings for ongoing creature comfort. Beautiful, I signed up for their semi-annual maintenance inspections and can now rest assured our home and it's largest mechanical system is in good hands. Thanks Brett, you did good. Our entire HVAC system needed to be replaced and we were having a hard time finding a reliable,…read morehonest, reasonably-priced company to come out and fix it. We saw the billboard on 316 for Snellville Heating and Air and decided to give it a go. Joe came by about thirty minutes after the initial phone call, and you could tell right away this was a man who knew what he was doing. He checked everything out and then, the first company to do so, sat down with us to go over everything in detail. He quoted us the best price we'd received and didn't once try to upsell us. He showed us all the certifications that their workers have which put our mind at ease. A week later (and only that long because we weren't home the other days) we had an entirely new HVAC system installed by two hardworking guys. I will say the monthly financing price we got was not ideal for us. I'm not naive, but the whole reason we called in the first place was the monthly financing offer of $50 on the billboard. So that was a bit disappointing, but the overall cost was the lowest quote we'd received so we went with it. Plus, we have ten year warranty on the new system, and a year's servicing. Not to mention the security of knowing we have an honest company working this for us. We really appreciated the service we received after almost two months of a broken HVAC system and companies trying to scam us. I recommend Snellville Heating and Air to anyone looking.

This company was recently bought by Air Georgia. We have two separate systems, one which provides…read moreair conditioning/heat in the main area of the house which is a gas furnace/air conditioner and a heat pump which provides air conditioning/heat to the top floor and a room adjacent to the house. One week in August, the two rooms controlled by the heat pump, began to read in the high 80's. We notified Snellville Heating, Air & Plumbing as we had a maintenance contract with them. They responded promptly and told us something may have been jarred in the air handler zone control board. They only charged us the service fee of $79.95. When they were here the rooms became cooler, however, within hours the rooms returned to temperatures in the mid-eighties and we had to have them back that same day. They then told us refrigerant was needed and they added 1 1/2 pounds of refrigerant for a cost of $150. The next day the temperature in these two rooms again returned to the mid-eighties. Snellville Heating, Air and Plumbing returned that day and said they replaced an electric shut-off switch in the condenser and there was no charge. We thought the problem was fixed but the temperature rose to the mid-eighties the next day. Snellville Heating, Air and Plumbing returned that same day and then said the Condenser Computer Board was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced at a cost of $495. The part was unavailable until the next day at which time they replaced the Board. However, within 2 days, the temperatures again rose to the mid-eighties. A fifth visit was made and this technician told us the problem was a leaky heat pump in the condenser coil and said this needed to be replaced with just a part or a new system was recommended since our current system was ten years old. They quoted at a cost of over $13,000 for a new system. At this time they gave us complimentary refrigerant to keep the room cool while we made a final decision to replace the part or the whole system. We lost all confidence in Snellville's competence in diagnosing our HVAC issues as it took 5 TECHNICIANS coming out multiple days in a row before the correct assessment of the problem was made. We asked management for a cancellation and reimbursement for our second maintenance visit, which the did. However, they refused to reimburse us for the $495 fee for the Condenser Computer Board stating we approved the work to be done. REALLY!!! My response was that as 70+ year olds we TRUSTED the technician that was the issue but in reality we had a LEAK, only identified on the 5TH VISIT and we were due a reimbursement which they REPEATEDLY DENIED. We are not HVAC knowledgeable but in retrospect, shouldn't the need for refrigerant added on the second visit be a "sign" there might have been a leak? They said they were offering a 10% discount on a new system and an upgrade to a higher grade system at no additional charge and that was their compensation. My response was we had lost ALL CONFIDENCE with them and would NOT be using them for a new system. If it took 5 VISITS BEFORE the proper diagnosis was made how could we TRUST them to properly install a new system and maintain it. Additionally, that $495 Condenser Board was of no use to us since we bought a new system from another HVAC company who did CONFIRM on their initial visit there was a leak. This has been a most regrettable situation which has caused us much angst as senior citizens. As a side note, we were told the owner was aware of our dilemma but he never personally called us which we expected given our level of concern.

What. A. Disaster…read more Last Tuesday evening I realized our upstairs AC unit wasn't cooling as well as it should. It was 79°, instead of the 72° it was set at. It was bearable so we waited to call in the morning. My husband called Cool Max based on Yelp reviews and they scheduled to come out after lunch. Two men showed up at 3:30p (not the 1-2p time frame stated when he called). One was a service tech (son of the owner) and the other was training (Ex-brother-in-law). They were polite and began to look at the AC unit(s) outside. The service tech came in and told me we had a tiny leak and that the bill would be $1200+. Our home is only three years old and that seemed ridiculous. I called my husband who was about to catch a flight home and he asked what the parts and service breakdown was. The service tech said they didn't do it that way but said he put what was wrong on the iPad and that's the amount it gave him to quote. After asking many questions he finally said he could just refill the refrigerant but that it would likely leak out again in the next TWO TO THREE YEARS. We decided to go that route since it was $281 (including the $89 service call) and he said it would last 2-3 years. They quickly filled the unit, the trainee felt the air blowing with his hand, and said it was blowing 65°. Two hours later I realized that nothing had changed with the upstairs AC so I called them out again. They quickly arrived and after looking at the units realized they had WORKED ON THE WRONG UNIT!!!!! How does that even happen?!?! They asked for a sharpie so they could label which was which. There was no apologies, only excuses. The service tech tried to convince me that I must have a leak in BOTH units even though the downstairs unit is blowing as cold as an ice box. He even tried to once again push the $279 maintenance plan. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had paid to repair the leak that was obviously not there! The service tech said he wouldn't charge for the second visit, wasn't that gracious?!?!
