My 80 year old parents called them to come and repair their system. The tech came out and charged 250.00 and did NOTHING except tell them is couldn't be repaired. They were quoted 22,000 for a new system. I just happened to call while this was happening and they were in the process of filling out a credit application. I called my brother who lives close by to go and see what was happening. He sent them on their way after paying the 250.00 of course. He called another company ( D & W also in Covington) who simply added freon and it works perfectly. Pepper Heating and Air replaced the control board of my HVAC system in December 2019. However, the control board recently burned out, and upon inspection by the contractor from my home warranty company, it was determined that the control board was the wrong type and improperly wired. Here is the diagnosis from the home warranty company's contractor: "We verified with a Bryant dealer, who confirmed that your control board model number is not in their system. They also confirmed with our technician that it is not compatible with your furnace. The current control board burned out and needs to be replaced for further diagnostic purposes. It is designed for ECM motors, whereas your system has a regular blower motor. It appears that whoever worked on your system bypassed the blower motor wiring and connected it directly to the power source, which caused it to run constantly." I reached out to Pepper Heating and Air to request technical information regarding the control board and its installation to defend their work. I hoped to obtain details such as the control board type, SKU code, and specifications to present to the home warranty company. I want to clarify that I never mentioned warranty coverage or requested a refund. However, in their response, the "Office of Pepper Heating and Air" threatened me, stating, "We don't owe you any warranty or refund. If my name is mentioned in any review or BBB complaint, you'll be hearing from my attorneys for slander." It's worth noting that my intention in contacting Pepper Heating and Air was solely to request information and give them the opportunity to defend themselves against the home warranty contractor's report. In their response, the Office of Pepper Heating and Air spent a considerable amount of words criticizing the home warranty company and its contractors, referring to the home warranty route as a "complete rip-off" and suggesting that contractors deny claims to make a profit. This leads me to question who is engaging in slanderous behavior. As the result for Pepper Heating and Air's response, I am taking the home warranty contractor's findings seriously and believe it warrants further investigation. Below is the response from the Office of Pepper Heating and Air in its entirety. THE OFFICE OF PEPPERS HEATING & AIR 11:59AM (3 hours ago) to me Our warranty runs one year on all parts during our service process. If anything and I mean anything is wrong in that one year , we will be happy to come back out and repair, replace the part, or make any adjustments to the system and honor the warranty for an additional year. It's been 5 years and we haven't heard a peep out of you or your system. You opted to go the Home warranty route which in this industry it is well known that its a complete rip off because they are going to deny all claims. We do not work with home warranty companies because of this. The companies that come out have to deny your claim so they can actually charge and make some money. We have been in business for over 45 years and have a 4.9 google rating. We know what we are doing and we do not appreciate getting accused of putting "the wrong board on" if it was bad it wouldn't have worked for 5 years let's get real. We don't owe you any warranty or money back. If my name gets mentioned in any review or BBB I promise you'll be hearing from my attorneys for slander. This company was recommended to us by our neighbors. Peppers came out to diagnose an A/C problem. We were actually getting a second opinion from Peppers before getting the issue fixed with a company we had had long-term. The price quoted by our long-term company was over $10,000, so a second opinion was in order. Peppers fixed the issue in short order, installing one small part and didn't even charge for that! A1 customer service, I highly recommend this company!My AC went out and i called this company after doing some research on yelp for HVAC companies. They were able to schedule me a next day appointment and their service fee is only $89 which in some cases can be applied to the cost of the work. They were very understanding and flexible with my appointment time due to the power outages and they were able to send my technician Michael out that afternoon. Michael was very thorough and able to identify the cause of my AC problem. He also gave me information on their HVAC maintenance program where they come out twice a year for routine maintenance and provide you with 10% you service. I signed up for the program and I will be in touch with them soon to schedule an extensive cleaning of my air duct system. read more

Paid for a service call to confirm a diagnosis. Tech didn't reseat the exterior AC fuse properly after his diagnosis. We were in the house burning up and I walked outside and the fan is not spinning at all. I checked the box, pushed the fuse in place and the fan pops on. Scheduled a visit to get a proposal for replacement on Tuesday. I was told I would receive the proposal Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. It is Thursday and I called earlier and was told I would receive it today. Well it is 10:53pm and I don't expect to receive a proposal. At this point, I will not consider them for present or future HVAC needs. There is no way this is a 5 star outfit. read more

Rodney came out to quote us a new air handler and heat pump (so all the HVAC equipment!), and was able to go over all options available during our half hour appointment. He explained that the brand they use, American Standard, is 100% Trane, but just with a different label on it (they're even manufactured in the same warehouses), so you can expect the best quality from these systems. And you cannot beat the price! We selected a 17 SEER 2-stage heat pump and variable speed air handler, which was $3000 less than the Trane competitor company, and $7000 less than the Carrier competitor's that is only 16 SEER! We booked our installation and they were out within less than a week to install. They were on time, called to let me know when they were on their way, and very courteous, efficient and helpful in explaining everything I had questions about. They ran into a small problem while installing but quickly took care of it (a part needed wasn't included on the quote), and because it was something they had missed during the quote process, we were not charged for the change in plans (which was an upgrade!). I would not hesitate to hire Peppers again. read more

I would recommend going with another company. I called peppers to come out because our AC was fluctuating. As soon as the tech got on site he looked at the unit and without plugging anything in said that we should replace our unit. After his diagnostic he said there's a leak I asked him to pinpoint a leak for me, he gave me a general location front of the coil in the attic. And said that he could put Freon in the unit and it should last a while till I decide to get a new unit. I asked him to take a picture of the scale before and after filling. No pictures of weight were provided. but proceeded to tell me that 3 pounds were added after he left And charged us over $500 the unit was still fluctuating. They sent out another tech and he said that there was a leak still. I told him not to put Freon in and he told me we should replace our unit He can schedule somebody to come out and give me an estimate which I refused. I was still contacted by somebody in their office trying to schedule somebody to come out to give me an estimate.I called a different company to come out they found that the leak was at the valve outside. replaced the valve and our unit is working perfectly. Please do your research before going any further. I tried resolving it with the last technician you guys sent out and all he could do for me was try to credit the $500 towards a new unit. The other company fixed my unit, no need for a new unit. I've already been burned out of $500, I don't want to be burned out of more time. You guys were quick to call me to get me on the schedule for a new unit, but I have yet to receive a phone call to resolve this. read more

It was a pleasure doing business with Peppers. I called them about a lack of cool air from my HVAC and they had a tech out there the same day. He determined it was a leaking coil and put in the order for a replacement. The team came out the next day and installed the coil. They also performed some maintenance work on the unit and blew our the drain lines. Was told from a company that was "reliable", after looking at our units for about 10 minutes, that our inside and outside units needed replacing and would cost $6500. Decided to get a second opinion. After reading reviews on other sites, Peppers stood out as one that got all five stars and glowing reviews. I called them and the very next day they had someone out at the house. He spent nearly 4 hours actually trying to determine what the problem was instead of just saying replace it. $300 later and the house has never heated this good. Everyone we spoke with and dealt with at the company were respectful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Be aware!! Unskilled!!! We called this company because our heat pump was not working properly. The technician came, replaced a few old wires and left. He also did an inspection without checking any electrical components. The pump quit again a few hours later. It was shortly after closing time on a Friday. They refused to come back and check it, leaving us with 2 small children, no heat in 30F weather. We had to spend the night in a hotel. The next day they took 3 more hours to come over and check it. By then we already had an idea of what was wrong (Defrost circuit board). The technician kept insisting on the fan motor ($450). We got another technician who checked the electrical components and thermostat and found several misconnections and parts (installed by Peppers, years ago). With only $160, our system was fixed!!! Peppers owners do not speak to customers, they only communicate via a receptionist!!! Incredibly incompetent, unprofessional, and uncaring. I believe ownership has changed!! read more
