Our AC wasn't working properly on Tuesday night, so I called Emperor (who I have been using for almost 20 years) and asked if there was a technician who could come out. The scheduler said they would be here on Thursday between 12pm and 2pm, so my boyfriend rearranged his work schedule so he could be home. On Thursday the scheduler called and told me she got confused and that she meant the tech would be here on Friday between 12pm and 2pm. I told her that boyfriend had rearranged his schedule so if the tech could be here closer to 2 that we would appreciate it, the scheduler said they'd be at our condo closer to 2. He rearranged his schedule again, moving some things to earlier in the day so that he could be home by 12:30. At 11:45 they called me and said they were on their way to the condo. Boyfriend rushed home and as he was pulling up to the building at 12:05, he saw the tech from Emperor leaving our community. Boyfriend flagged him down and he parked and came up to our condo. He said he was going up to the roof. 10 minutes later he came back to our condo and said he was done and left. I called Emperor today and asked if there were any differences in what is done in our scheduled service every 6 months and what the tech did on Friday. The person I talked to said she didn't know and would call us back. My first statement when they answered the phone "I have no problem with paying but I want to understand additional service options." A few hours later I received the following text message from the tech, who also turns out to be their "service manager." We never said we wouldn't pay (it was only $75) or that we were unhappy with the service, we were just trying to figure out if there was anything else that would need to be done in the 6 month service vs. what was done on Friday or if we were good until the end of the year. read more

In less than 4 years, I'm out of over $6,000 with Emperor. I have learned my lesson and will never use their mediocre, careless, rude, patch-and-go service again. June 2016: We had Emperor install a brand new Ameristar HVAC Unit after purchasing a home. It costed us $4522. May 2019: Nearly 3 years later, we had a new thermostat installed. When they installed that, they discovered that my unit had leaked 2lbs of refrigerant. They filled the refrigerant and left (my husband was home, I was not). When I got home and saw the $550 bill, I immediately emailed Tony (the supervisor, possibly owner too) and asked him (nicely and professionally) why they just topped off the refrigerant without seeing what caused the leak. I knew that would cause problems down the road and wondered why a fairly new unit was leaking anyway. He immediately got rude and defensive, I still have the emails, and told me to find another company to bother. Sadly, his email response got lost in my junk email folder for a year. If I would have seen it, I would have never spent another dime with them. April 2, 2020: Our unit was not cooling correctly. Emperor came out. They said it had leaked 3 lbs of refrigerant, the control module had gone bad, and the leaking indoor coil would have to be replaced. All of this is because they never fixed the leaking refrigerant the year before. They simply, lazily, topped off refrigerant and left. So, after leaking down into the unit for another year, I'm pretty sure that's what caused the new problems and shorted some stuff out. That cost me $300. They have to order an indoor coil and will be back to replace it. The quote is $475 (labor) for the under-warranty part. April 17, 2020: They come back to install the indoor coil. The unit is now magically 5 lbs low on refrigerant (which leaked out over the 2 weeks it took to get the part in). That cost me $750. While going back through my records and emails to gather my old Emperor receipts and contact the manufacturer (Ameristar) for some possible help or reimbursement for a bad system, I come across Tony's rude response email from a year ago. I had never saw that response. Now, I am 100% sure I will never use this company again. Folks, beware. There are better companies out there that are respectful and appreciate their customers' time and money. This is not one of them. Save yourself the headache and hard-earned money. In hindsight, I honestly think they damaged my unit during installation (possibly dropped it or broke something accidentally) but went ahead and installed it. I don't see any other reason why a new unit would start having issues, especially since Ameristar usually makes great products. read more

Last year 2 days before my wedding in the middle of July the A/C in a condo I was renting out stopped working. I called Ann at Emperor and she sent Ian out to fix the problem the very next day. The unit was over 20 years old and I wasn't able to be there when he did the repair. Considering that I wasn't home and was leaving for my honeymoon, he could have ripped me off and told me anything he wanted and I would have just had to pay it because my renter needed A/C. However, Ian told me that even though I should plan on replacing the unit soon, he could fix it for a couple hundred bucks and he thought it would keep working for at least another year or two. He was extremely professional and I ultimately had him install a new unit for me six months later. This year my wife and I decided to surprise her parents with a new A/C as theirs wasn't working very well. We didn't want them to know what we were doing so we had one of the managers, Tony, come out and look at their A/C when they weren't home. They knew it was a surprise and were very helpful in keeping it a secret until the last minute (which meant they had to wait until we could get the parents out of the house before they could pull up in the driveway). Again they did a great job for us and the price was fair. This is my first Yelp posting and the reason that I did it was because I wanted to let Atlanta know what a great company this is. I was having issues with my ac unit. I scoured yelp and found Emperor and noticed they had all 5 stars. I called And spoke with the receptionist who was super kind. She made me an appt between 8 and 9 the next day. Tony showed up at 8:06 and got right to work. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He fixed the problem and continued to check the unit inside and outside ensuring it was all fixed. I was super impressed with his customer Service skills and his ability to quickly and efficiently fix my ac. Emperor is great, very professional. Called Emperor when my A/C stopped working. Anne told me they would send someone out later that day around 3. Tony showed up at 3:15 and added Freon, was working fine for about 1 day, but started blowing warm again the next day. I though the worst, but called them back and Tony came out the next morning, turns out it was a part that went bad. Tony replaced it, no charge, working fine now, I will use them again next time. After about 2 weeks of my furnace being out and me trying to troubleshoot to no avail, I finally called Emperor to come out and fix it. I was able to get a next day appointment and the technician who came out was on time and very knowledgeable. He was able to fix my furnace within an hour and even showed me the cause of the problem. He stated that I shouldn't have any further issues and that Emperor also warrantied their repair so that was a plus. The price was very reasonable and since the repair I've had no issues. Not only was Emperor more affordable than the first company we called, but they also came out first thing the next day (Saturday) without charging a bogus weekend fee. Ian the repair tech was on time, professional, personable, and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and was on his way within 30 minutes. I'd definitely recommend then to anyone! The technicians are very experienced and willing to work with the unit to maximize it's life. They don't try to sell anything unecessary but do advise what really needs to be done. I've been absolutely thrilled with our experience with Emperor. In the years we've lived in this house, I've had several other companies out to look at some of the problems we inherited from the previous owners. Yes, it's not entirely straightforward, but I was disappointed that no one was willing to be even a little creative in trying to figure out how we could *fix* these issues. ... The last guy who came out basically decided ours was a "small" job and not worth bothering with. After telling me he'd email me a quote, he never got back to me at all. So frustrating! (Meanwhile my children roasted upstairs...) Ann at Emperor got back to me quickly and scheduled Ian to come out. He spent a couple of hours on two different days being really thoughtful and thorough as he tried to devise a number of potential solutions. This was even before we'd committed to hiring Emperor. His prices were fair and his suggestions reasonable. Once we approved a plan, they were able to schedule us within a day or two. Michael did most of the work on our house. He was also prompt, polite, thorough, and conscientious. Ian came back out to finish some of the work and make sure we were completely satisfied. He made sure all of our questions were answered.
