Absolutely and highly recommend Dan. Skip those random "certified contractors" books that come in the mail and trust the reviews here. I have a mini split that another company (who also installed it) has come out 3 times over the past year to try and fix (and failed at). Looking for someone else out of frustration, I called around to the places with tons of Yelp reviews, but all I found was sales tactics trying to either get me on a maintenance plan or to buy an entire new system (right...when this one is only 2 years old??). Thankfully this is where Dan comes in. I called him this morning around 9am to see if this is something he could work on and for how much. He was at another job but he said he had a few minutes to talk with me. He took 10 minutes out of his busy day to listen to my story, the symptoms, ask some questions, and then give his opinion on what work should be done (none of which the other company has done btw) and what his entire repair process would look like. After taking all of this time to share his expertise and do an over the phone diagnosis, he then says "unfortunately I don't work on mini splits." Dan helped me over the phone to come up with a game plan knowing from the beginning that he wouldn't make a single cent off of the time he spent, and then referred me to another company that he believes does good work. Actions speak, and today Dan's showed nothing but honesty, integrity, and generosity. I highly highly recommended Comfortman! It was almost 5pm and I knew it was cutting it close to closing for most people. I left Dan a voicemail and he called me later that night and was able to come take a look at my AC the next day! Unfortunately for me my AC required some extra parts so he had to come back again the next day. Both visits he was on time and and was very professional. I will never use anyone else for heat/AC repair. Dan is the GOAT when it comes to this. On top of being extremely professional - he is a genuinely nice guy who is fair and reasonable with his pricing. He lets you know what he thinks the issue is/what his plan is, and what pricing will be. I am never surprised when I get the bill. I had experienced a nightmare with ARS which spanned over a 4 month repair, re-repair ad infinitum. And once again, my system failed. I prayed that I could locate a reputable repair company, and I happened upon Dan with Comfortman. He stated he would come out and assess the complaint and would not charge me if he could not fix it. We had a small gas leak in our basement heating unit. Atlanta Gas Light shut off gas to it and left us w/o heat while outside temps were in the 40s. We called the only repairman we knew only to find out the next morning he was out of town. I found Comfortman here on Yelp, called and received a return call to let me know he could come shortly after. Communication was prompt and clear and Dan arrived on Sunday promptly on time to replace some duct work that our cat had urinated into. Dan finished the work in short order, cleaned up, and was in and out in probably 30 minutes. I offered him a cat in addition to his reasonable fee, but he sadly declined the offer. Our heat went offline following a power outage on Saturday morning 3 days before Christmas, although we didn't realize it at first. After a chilly night, I called Shumate, who first said the earliest they could come would be on Thursday, which they changed to Wednesday (the day after Christmas) after I complained about waiting so long. After a second cold night, I decided to see if I could get someone out sooner. I called a couple of places Monday morning (Christmas Eve), and Dan (the owner of Comfortman) was the first to return my call. An hour later he was at our house. Dan figured out that the dual-fuel control unit on our furnace (we have a heat pump as well as gas heat) was burned out, but that we our thermostat was a newer model that did not need the external controller. He was able to bypass the failed controller and get our heat back on right away in "emergency heat" mode (using the gas furnace only). So we were toasty warm Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Dan apologized that he "was not an expert" on dual-fuel systems and wasn't sure how to configure the thermostat to control a dual-fuel setup, so he agreed to come back with a friend who is more knowledgeable about such systems after Christmas. He did, and they got the full system back online in under an hour. What's more, he only charged us $145 ("I don't charge for learning"), and only after the second visit. Dan is exactly what you want in a local service provider: competent, very responsive, honest to a fault, very reasonable, and an extremely nice guy. I cannot recommend him highly enough. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I'm in the Chamblee Tucker area and my heat went out in early March. I just started Googling HVAC repair near me. After dealing with one shady company who made me feel very uncomfortable with their tactics, before even agreeing to come out. I went on down the line and found Dan from Comfortman. I called the office, explained my problem, and they said they'd have Dann Goss call me back ASAP. Almost immediate call back, maybe 10 minutes. Dan had a reasonable diagnosis fee, was very personable on the phone (I immediately felt comfortable talking to him), and said he could be there to check it out within a couple of hours. He is a great guy, doesn't try to up sale anything, and knows his stuff. He diagnosed my problem (gas valve issue), told me he didn't have the needed part but could pick it up in the morning and have use heated up again by the next day. And he did everything he said he would, and threw in a few extra stuff just to make sure it didn't happen again, even replaced my filter. Awesome service, very reasonable prices, professional, very friendly (likes dogs and was willing to sit a min with my over protective little guy to make him feel more comfy with this 'strange person' in the house - big props for that!) and is less than a mile from my home. I called Dan initially on July 21st because my central AC unit stopped working. My aunt, who lives in Dunwoody, recommended him highly and suggested I call his company - DeKalb C.A.R.E. I called his answering service and he returned my call within 10 minutes time. I described the problem and he seemed to know the issue; he narrowed the problem to one or two possible causes. We spoke around 4:30 PM and he showed up around 6:00 PM. The weather was hot and the house was unbearably warm so he went to work right away until the problem was resolved that evening, finishing around 9PM. As it turned out, he had to replace the fan motor on the outside unit. I think he charged me about $360 which was not at all bad for emergency service, 3 plus hours of work, and a new fan motor. The other day the unit stopped working again so I called Dan to come out and look at the unit again. He showed up the next morning, on time as usual, and fixed the problem (again) in less than an hour. I should mention that he did not charge me anything; the problem was a failed / faulty capacitor. Dan is prompt, honest and friendly; I recommend him (and his Company DEKALB C.A.R.E.) highly. read more

Last month when my aging AC unit (from 1986) finally bit the dust, I knew just who to call. Dan promptly returned my call, and came out the same day to check it out. In addition to replacing the AC system, he also corrected problems with the duct work to improve airflow. The project was completed on-time and on-budget at a very reasonable rate. WOW! Dan was great! I was having problems with my 3 year old system with air flow and the installing the filter, he came out and made it so a new filter would fit correctly and also increased the air flow in the system. He found one of the main return was kinked off and only flowing about 50%. He is prompt, very reasonable and honest. A couple days ago I tried to replace my old thermostat with the nest thermostat and once installed, the nest didn't work. I was getting an error saying there wasn't any power and the nest wasn't staying charged so I thought there was a problem with the nest. I put back the old thermostat because I was going to return the new one. I'm not handy so I was sure I did something wrong because the furnace didn't come on when the old one was put back. The house got to 49 degrees. I called Comfortman and explained the problem and he told me he was 95% sure it was a fuse. Sure enough...I replaced the blown fuse and reinstalled the nest and it all works perfectly! Apparently the red and blue wires can't touch and I think they did when I tried to change thermostats. Had no idea. He could have come and charged me for this simple fix. Thankfully he didn't and it only cost me $3.70 :) I highly recommend him and I'll be using him from now on! read more

After investigating the problem, he figured out it was a bad float switch preventing the system from coming on. Our AC went out on a Friday evening as the temperature was flirting with 100. I thought we could suck it up and wait until Monday to have it looked at because I was nervous about the weekend service cost. Well, finally, my wife's had enough and told me to get a number for her to call. So I found Dan on Yelp and after reading great reviews, she made the call. Thank GOD for my wife! This was about 3-4 pm on a Saturday and he said he could stop by in 15 min as he was heading home after the last call. Turned out, he lives a couple of miles from us. I showed him around and after a few minutes, he found a bad capacitor. I was fully expecting to pay a couple of thousand $$ for the job and it turned out to be a fraction of it. I'm not sure if I can mention what he charged but it was more than reasonable, especially it being a Saturday. He gave us some random discounts as well.
