Let me first start off by saying that I have never written a review about a business on the internet. In this case, I've been so extremely disappointed and angered with this place I felt the need to let other people know to NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE. No, I'm not a older woman that obsessed with treating my dog like an angel and writing awful reviews about bad experiences because my heightened sense of worth, I'm a male college student in his early 20s. Anyways, this is why: I've had two experiences with Bloomingpaws. Before they had an overhaul in management and after; so don't buy their, "well, we recently switched management", bologna. After the first awful experience, I bought that crap and decided they should deserve a second chance, which was as big of a mistake as boarding her there the first time. I'll try to keep it short, sweet, and to the point. 1) The first time I boarded my dog there should have also been the last. They come off really professional and friendly when you walk in the door, sure. I explained to the girl that I wanted to set her up for group play 6 out of the 6 days I was gone. I told her she wasn't spayed and she explained to me it was completely fine. I was comfortable knowing my dog was getting social interaction with other dogs on my trip. However, 4 days in, I received a call from an employee suggesting a bath for her. I was confused because she was bathed a few days before I left. Apparently they hadn't been letting her out as much as they should have been, to the point where she had to 'go' in her own spot. Not only that, they apparently were aware of this fact and didn't have the courtesy to at least rinse the spot out with water so she was basically lying around in her own filth. If you're a dog owner you know that a dog would never do this. Crates are used to potty train because they won't 'go' in their area; apparently she was forced to do so where she was staying. After being angered by this, I decided to potentially soothe my anger so I asked how she was doing in group play thinking I would received a good-heartening answer. Shockingly enough, they said she hadn't been out to group play at all. Naturally, I was infuriated. Also, just a side note, my dog was potty trained at 8 weeks old. 2) I thought hey, what the heck, I'll give them another shot. Everyone deserves a second chance. New management - what happened last time couldn't happen again, right? Wrong. Walking up to drop her off she cowered in what looked to be fear. I didn't want to drop her off but I didn't have a choice. Side note, again, I board her at our Vet, Arlington Heights North, all the time and she never reacts that way. Second side note, she's a Golden Retriever; she's a naturally confident, vibrant dog who I've extremely rarely ever seen be scared. Same exact instance with them calling me to try to sell me a bath and make me pay for it happened. The only obvious situation is the same as described above. For the cherry on top, they informed me that she broke a nail and they 'fixed it'. I was honestly confused by this because I trim her nails regularly and she does through a lot of rigorous exercise and she has never broken a nail. A week or so later, I go to trim her nails and she cowers in fear. I was literally shocked. She loves being bathed, groomed, nails trimmed, you name it - very cooperative. She ran around the apartment like I was about to cut her leg off even with a bag of treats in my hand while soothing her with my voice. All in all, do yourself a favor: DO NOT BOARD YOUR PET HERE. It'll only cause you future problems, present stress and anger during their stay, and regret while reminiscing on the past of how you wish you wouldn't of boarded him/her there. Not to mention, the prices are double what they are any where else in Bloomington. I board my dog at our Vet, as stated earlier, at $16 dollars a night. If I remember correctly, it's $25 a day at Bloomingpaws. The only real reason I believe Bloomingpaws continues to get business is because they aesthetically look very pleasing, and they're the only place in Bloomington that has this look. Please, heed my message, and don't be fooled by the outside because I feel very confident that what happens on the inside wouldn't please you. read more

Dangerous. I will never bring my child into this place again. On 7/28/2014 the staff at Blooming Paws brought out a German Shepard into the wating area. Even though it was on a leash, they let it run up to me and bite me. The dog drew blood from my hand and tore my pants. My 9 year old daughter was standing at my side. I am thankful the dog did not bite her as well. I asked to talk to the manager. They called for the supervisor to come out. I informed him of what happened. He offered to clean the cut and give me a band-aid. The impression I received was the supervisor was sorry it happened. He said there was nothing they could have done. They don't really know who the dogs belong to when they bring them up and the handler thought the dog really wanted to see me. I think they could have done better. I lost a pair of pants and my hand will be sore for a day or two. Things would have been much worse if my little girl would have been bitten. read more

My yorkie had a hair cut a few months ago, it's kind hard to make reservation for dog grooming since place like Petco always booked up and I have to wait for 2 weeks. This place, however, can do a next day reservation which I thought was quite convenient. When I dropped my dog in the morning, it took about 5hrs to get his hair done. In the middle of the grooming, a staff called that she found my dog has a minor injury on his leg, it was okay at that point, so I just let her finish the job. After I picked his up, the staff suggested me to have a vet check and said its free at there vet, it later turned out that her word doesn't count, they still charge us even they made our 4pounds dog bleeding. The manager was not nice, 70%rude 30% thinking I'm trouble, when we question about the whole thing. Not to say his attitude, he was like "I can't explain this to you since you won't understand". I have used BloomingPaws (formerly Canine Companion) several times. They have a really nice facility and it's always been a breeze dropping off and picking up. Our dog has always had a blast, and then he comes home groomed, nails trimmed and tired out from all the exercise - win for us! read more

The worst pet establishment in Bloomington. If you love your dog at all, you should not take them here. My dog was returned to me severely underfed and with a limp!! They could not tell me why he was limping and were generally as very unwelcoming staff. They charge very high prices for them to be harming pets. They are a vet for Christ's sake. These people were unhelpful & a little rude when I stopped by to inquire about purchasing a cone collar for my beloved dog. Petco & the local T&T pet store up the street were both out of the cone collar size my dog fits in most comfortably. I stopped by here in a last hope that I could locally procure a cone collar. However, after being interrogated about why my dog needs the collar I was declined the ability to purchase the collar, even though I was told that they had them in stock for $11. (My dog simply has occasional allergies no vet has been able to figure out & I don't want her nibbling on herself while i sleep). So I'll be ordering a cone collar on Amazon tonite. I just moved to Bloomington & I won't be bringing any of my pets here or inquiring if I can buy any of their retail items or services again. read more

Our dog has been coming to Bloomingpaws for a weekly day of daycare for the last two years. Every time we drive up he starts to vocalize and talk with excitement. He absolutely loves coming here for daycare, and also boarding. The best part is that he comes home at the end of the day and just absolutely crashes after playing so hard each day! In addition to daycare and boarding, they have a terrific groomer who really seems to know our dog and how to pamper him, and also a vet on site. It's super convenient to be able to take care of multiple things in one location, and to be able to do a full day drop-off, with grooming and vet appointments when needed! read more

I brought my dog in for daycare in the AM. I received a call in the afternoon indicating my dog was limping and could not put any weight on one of his paws. The staff member I spoke with said that it could be due to arthritis and the cold weather or it could be something else and asked if I wanted the Vet to see my dog. Yes, I wanted the Vet to look at my dog. I brought in my pet who was walking fine in the AM and is now apparently limping. When I picked him up at the end of the day I realized he could barely walk. The report from the Vet said there could be a tare in his leg and he needs X-rays. It seems like this is something more than the "cold weather" and possible arthritis, although staff denied that anything had transpired during the day (ex. playing rough with another dog, etc.). The PM staff was apologetic and a staff member helped me get my dog into my car and apologized to me (which I appreciated). However, needless to say, I am not happy about this situation and my dog cannot currently bare weight on one of his legs. I do not think I will take my dog back to Blooming Paws, as I would be too concerned with his safety and well-being. read more

I've never before written a review, but I feel so uneasy about my experience here that I feel compelled. I took my puppy in for a couple playdates. I was excited that I would be able to watch him play with other dogs on the webcam. During that entire day, I probably logged on half a dozen times, and all I saw was my dog sitting all alone, looking into the other area, wanting to play. When I called to ask, their response was, "oh, we give them a break to be alone every now and then." Riiiiight... So, I was sitting at home that evening petting my dog, and I felt something around his neck. It was so tight that the skin around his neck was completely enveloping it. I discovered a pink rubber collar that was so tight, I could not get even a finger between the collar and his neck. It took me several minutes to be able to unfasten it. I was shocked. I didn't bother to say anything to them about it. Chalked it up to somebody new who didn't understand how to put collars on properly. I recently left my dog there for 5 days while on vacation. I thought it was odd that they never offered to give me a tour of the facility, where he would stay, sleep, or play with the other dogs. I assumed I was just being overprotective, and decided to let them do their job. I went in to pick him up after the trip, and they came out to tell me that while he was there, he'd somehow gotten his ear cut, but to not worry because the doctor had glued it back together. I asked if the dogs are supervised during play time, and they said yes, but they never noticed my dog getting hurt. Hmm...They didn't bother to let me know about that injury at the time. I waited about 15 minutes, not understanding why they were not bringing my dog out. Then someone emerged from the back. They said, " Umm, so we were doing his check-out inspection, and noticed one of his eyelids and the white part of his eye is blood red and swollen." They said, "He or another dog must have scratched it, or maybe he ran into a wall. Come on over to our doctor, and she'll check him out." She ended up sending me home with a plethora of medications. Again, nobody had any idea about this until I picked him up. Nobody noticed anything happening at the time? As I'm trying to process all of this, they finally bring out my dog, who seems stunned, lethargic and disoriented. Almost as if he'd been heavily medicated. This is an extremely active and happy puppy. It's been two days, and he is just now beginning to get off the couch. All I can say is THE DOG I DROPPED OFF WAS NOT THE DOG I PICKED UP!! I have since gone back and read reviews of the place to see if I'm just being paranoid. My question is, why are so many dogs who leave that facility injured? I don't know what goes on back there (since they don't really tell you what their schedule is, when they'll be taken out for potty breaks, how often (if ever) they actually allow them to play with other dogs, take you back to show you the facility, nor do you meet anyone who will be "taking care" of your dog), all I can say is READ THE REVIEWS and decide for yourself if you're willing to take the risk... read more

Do not take your pets here. They care more about their reviews than their care. My dog began limping the day before she was due for a vaccination. When I brought her in I asked the vet to look at her leg. The vet moved her leg, told me she wasn't limping when she clearly was, and then charged me 75 dollars for an exam. She had an appointment for a booster the following week. She was still limping at the time of the second appointment and again, I was told she was not limping. During that week, I booked an appointment at a different clinic. It took me a month to get the dog into a new place because of Covid19. My dog has a torn CCL that requires surgery. In the interim, my dog lost significant muscle mass in one leg. I posted a review on their Facebook page. BloomingPaws sent me a letter in response to my review. The letter implied that I said my dog had a limp when she did not and then her CCL was torn, coincidentally, at a later time. Why would I insist on having the vet examine my dog if she wasn't limping? It is plainly dishonest to suggest that it is more reasonable to conclude that I predicted an injury with prophetic accuracy than to acknowledge the fact that the vet rushed through the exam and dismissed my concerns. read more

Trainers Ben and Heather are the best! So patient and professional with our pack of 3 - two Bassett Hound puppies and a Lab mix. So challenging, but Ben and Heather made it look easy and trained us too! Now we're all happy! Love Dr. Dickenson too. She takes very good care of our dogs and sincerely loves her job. Not very happy with the changes that have been taking place here. The new staff isn't as friendly and nice as the staff that's been there since we've been taking our puppy there (Michael, Bonnie, & Kim). The prices have been going up for "better service" that I believe is no where near better. The guarantee of being notified if your pet gets injured is apparently no long a policy even though the website states differently. Not only was I not notified of my dog getting injured, when I picked her up I had to ask them why she was putting no pressure at all on her back leg because I was told nothing. I only was able to get someone to talk to me about the issue after another patron agreed that Bailey was limping really bad. I then had to take her to my vet and paid over $100 in vet bills. I then needed to bring her back to daycare a little over a week later due to working a ten hour shift. Due to this I checked multiple times to make sure they could handle her situation and she could come to daycare. After checking They agreed they could and that it would be fine. While she is at daycare I get a call from their vet having her lecture me about why my dog shouldn't be there and how she's not fit for daycare and that none of the things they agreed they could do for her were upheld... Such as keeping her in a small area with a soft surface and only taking her outside on a leash to potty. They also disregarded the medical advice we received from our vet and did their own even though they have never seen her as a client. It's now been two weeks since her paw pad was punctured and scrapped in several places and I have no answers. They posted in replies on their Google reviews the following: "Moreover, our "Carefree Guarantee" provides free vet services up to $300 per dog for any injuries while in our care. We encourage all our clients to contact us with problems." Yet I currently got a letter from them refunding what daycare passes I had left. They stated it would be in both of our interest for us to find other services for our puppies. They still had no answers to what happened to her and how her paw pad got punctured or who "checked" her out, and paid for none of what it cost us to get her injuries taken care of. I also got my comment removed from their Facebook page when I replied to my review when another client of their's commented to tell me they had the same thing happen to their dog. I have waited several days before posting this review so as to emphasize that my review is objective and not written in the heat of any moment. I had taken my dog here for vet, daycare, and boarding several times over the past six months - DESPITE the horribly negative reviews on Yelp and DESPITE what I had heard from others about this location - because I got a good first impression from the people working at the front desk and because my first choice location for daycare has a year long waiting list. I had to board my dog Friday, Saturday, Sunday because I was presiding over an academic conference as a PhD student at IU who is the president of a student organization. On Saturday, while I was in a conference panel, I received a call from Bloomingpaws 30 minutes prior to their closing. When the panel was over and I checked my phone they were already closed. The voicemail message said my dog had gotten his paw caught in a gate in their play yard and was now limping. They said a vet tech looked it over, that would be keeping an eye on it, and that he would be taken out of group play. THAT'S IT. No alternative number. No way of going to get him after hours. NOTHING. I had no way of getting a hold of a live person to check on my dog or going to pick him up. This is unacceptable. I spent the remainder of the weekend worrying and unable to enjoy the conference I had spent a year planning. By the time Monday came around and they opened up I had no idea if my four legged family member was better/worse/the same. When I got a hold of a live person on the phone they were reading off of a screen and had no knowledge of what happened. When I asked to speak to someone who was there or the manager, they got him and he had NO information, hadn't even taken the time to look to see if he was still limping, and had to call me back. I am an Associate Instructor at the university so I had to go teach my class STILL not knowing if he was okay. When I went to pick my dog up, no one apologized to me for the stress placed on my dog for getting injured and then being taken out of group play. No one apologized to me for the stress of being in the SAME TOWN as my dog and not being able to pick him up after hours because he got injured due to their negligence. While they took off the group play charges, they still charged me for all nights of boarding. Unacceptable. Clearly the culture and climate of this institution has not changed from their prior iteration as Canine Companion. I will never be taking my dog back here again and if you love your four legged friend, you will think twice. They might be smiling and friendly at the front desk, but their management is incompetent when it comes down to handling injuries and handling special cases. There is no reason my dog should have spent the weekend isolated and injured. read more

I am always very impressed with the fact that I never have to wait when I have an appointment, which is very unlike my experience at previous vets. read more

I've been going to Canine Companions now known as BloomingPaws since 2012 and I must say I'm really impressed and like all the new changes that are happening around there! I know back before they started making changes they just had a Big dogs area and a small dog area which was ok but it seemed like a lot of dogs for one area but now they have a small dog group, Puppy group, normal/calm group, a medium rowdy group, and a large rowdy group..( & of course that's the group my dog got put into) but I think its a good thing they have these groups now so I don't have to worry about my dog wanting to play with some old dog who isn't really the playful type like mine is and them getting into a fight... which has happened once in the past but luckily BloomingPaws isn't just Boarding, Doggie Daycare, and Training Faculty they also have a Vet Clinic which I was thankful for that one day and they were able to fix him right up. (Even though he only had a few marks on him nothing major) but I take all my animals there to Dr. Victor she has always done a excellent job at taking care of my animals for me! I would definitely recommend BloomingPaws to everyone!! Even if you went there in the past when it was Canine Companies you should really go and check it out now with all the changes that have happen / are happening!! They have always treated us like family, everyone knows our dogs' names, knows us; it's great to see so many people come together who care so much about dogs! We have used Bloomingpaws for 7 years. When it was still canine companions we had our German Shepherd (Amber) trained, boarded, and in daycare and groomed. We were always happy with her care. She is now 7, and more temperamental, which we've always been upfront about. We've always told them she didn't like baths, or men. And they have always been ok with it. She's always allowed them to take her from me when I drop her off. We have adopted another puppy he's 11months old. Very hyper sweet, stitch is his name. For spring break 2018 we took our daughter to Disney for her 16th birthday and we paid for boarding, daycare, (outside play) and baths. We sent 11 days of food measured out for both dogs. Stitch was kennelled until noon every day, Amber was kennelled everyday except approximately an hour a day, none of their food was used, I watched for over 2.5 hours on their live feed video and both of our dogs were in kennels until I called. Then they told me my total would be 500 when I picked them up and it was578.00 after they took off the day care charge because they didn't let my dogs play. Stitch has lost so much weight his collar falls off and he trembles if we walk near him and Amber won't lay down she just paces. they lied about my dogs behavior, didn't feed them, and didn't contact us with any issues except that both dogs had diarrhea, which now we know is caused because they weren't fed. They took off the play charges, but still charged me more than I was told. When I was finally able to get someone to help after they hid from me, my main goal was 1. Admit they neglected and lied. 2. Apologize. 3. To pay what I was told I'd pay not more! They refused to apologize. They did not feed them or care for them. Lisa then says my dog bit an employee at a different stay. However it was never reported. She made me feel as though I wasn't allowed to complain about my dogs lack of care because they hid the fact my dog supposedly bit an employee at a different time and they didn't report it. Like if I keep complaining they would now. First, if my dog bit anyone I would want to be told and it to be reported, and I told her that. To which she replied we try to not call people on their vacations. I feel she made up the bite scenario to get me to stop complaining. By the end of our conversation she tells she's hanging up and I told her I wanted to file a report of neglect and she said she'd file harassment charges on me. I said I want want an apology and for you to admit you neglected my dogs she said no. I then said I. Wanted a full refund then and she screamed that's what this has been about! You aren't getting an apology, or your money! Do not come to my business again! And hung up on me! They know they neglected my dogs and refuse to even apologize. I truly didn't want all of my money back. I wanted an apology. And to pay what I was told!My dogs are terrified to move. And it's because they were neglected. I'm so sick that I ever felt my dogs were safe there. We will never again use Bloomingpaws! Update: our dogs have still acted sick, and skittish. We took them to our vet, Amber has a uti, and coccidia and stitch has kennel cough and whip worm. Our vet is confident both dogs got sick from being boarded at Bloomingpaws. Since this incident Bloomingpaws has blocked me from social media and sent me a letter saying I'm not to contact them regarding this or they will press harassment charges. At this point I'm devastated my dogs have been suffering and I can't even make the people apologize. Please think twice before you take your pets here! I took ours here for 7 years before there was an issue that I knew of. read more

Recently my cat was injured. My regular vet did not have an opening for three days and the only other option they offered was to 'drop him off' with an extra 'emergency' charge of over $100! Needless to say I could not wait that long so I called Bloomingpaws. I was immediately impressed by their professionalism and they got me in that afternoon (with no 'emergency' fees). The vet I saw, Dr. Dickenson was great - friendly and enthusiastic and thorough in her exam. I liked the way she handled the cat and her respectful explanations. I also liked that she asked before she administered meds and seemed to be sensitive to the cost factor. The next day their office called to see how my cat was doing! I have taken 3 pets to my former vet for at least a decade, and I liked most of the vets there, but I was very disappointed that there was no consideration for the many years we have been patients and the fact that the cat was injured! The contrast between their service and Bloomingpaws' is so striking that I will be moving all three to Bloomingpaws and see how it goes. read more

I'm a little confused by all of the negativity posted here. I've had nothing but great experiences at BloomingPaws. I used to take my pup to Barkefellers on the South side of Indy before moving to Bloomington, and I was worried that I wouldn't find another doggie daycare that I loved, but I am really pleased with BloomingPaws. My pup heads to daycare regularly throughout the weekdays, and he has been groomed at BloomingPaws as well - no complaints here. I think folks there are doing a great job! I have heard from other customers that the folks at the front desk could do a better job of welcoming and acknowledging customers/pet parents when they walk in the door - that said, if Michael is at the front desk, I know I'll be taken care of and greeted warmly immediately. read more

BloomingPaws is a great place to take your pets for vet services, group play, and grooming. My dog has always had great experiences here. I love the friendly staff! They are ready to grab Max whenever I walk in which helps when I'm in a hurry. The groomers do a fantastic job. I get to choose what I want done and the form they have me fill out allows me to be very specific with Max's needs. I highly recommend the services at BloomingPaws! read more

TWO REVIEWS: Brian at canine companion training is a VERY abusive person he mistreats the dogs under his care, he kicks them and beats them and has even killed some. my son in law use to work there for a week (52hrs) and had all he could take of the abuse, he had to quit! Other friends of mine went to one training class and Brian slamed a dog down so hard that it wet it's self and they never went back. Another person had his dog mauled and had big vet bills. He ask Brain if he was going to pay part of them, and Brain said it wasn't his problem and he didn't even care. Is that some one you want your dog to stay with? Not me! they even kicked a small dog while he was there and it pooped blood. he could not take it any longer. we are passing these messages out so you won't get your dog hurt. Please Don't take your dogs there. we need all the people we can get to shut this terrible (person) down. he really isn't a person if he hurts or kills anmials. there are alot of you people out there that are afraid of him, but we have a lawyer to helps us now. Patricia Bloomington, Indiana I found this (^^^^^^^)and wanted to share it with all of you. I took my two beautiful dogs in to be boarded over this past weekend. July 22-25 2016 We had a heat advisory and the 16 year old had a pretty fluffy coat and I asked for her to have a haircut. I had a water system I wanted the to use to make sure they were well hydrated. Simply system, just a jug you fill up and turn upside down in a bowl. I explained my oldest dog was prone to UTI's and with the heat advisory in effect, they needed access to as much water as possible. I was assured they would use the water system for my girls. That was not the case! When I picked them up, they were not themselves at all! My older dog did not jump around, she seemed very lethargic . Both of their beds were wet with urine and it was concentrated and smelled very bad. My dogs NEVER wet their beds! When we got home I walked them, their urine was extremely dark yellow. When we came in, they both drank for approximately 3-4 minutes each. As I unpacked, I noticed the jug and bowl of the watering system were bone dry! They hadn't used it at all, even though I was assured that they would! I tried speaking to the manager about this. I had called him 3 times with no luck. Finally, I was given his email. And he called within 20 minutes. His name was Steve. I was calm, which was not easy I can assure you)! He was argumentative and admitted they were dehydrated to me over the phone. He became rude even laughing at one point. Insulting me saying things like," have you ever even boarded before"?! This is a great place to take your animals, if you don't care about them at all! But if you're like me and love you're babies with all your heart, DON'T EVER TAKE YOU ANIMALS HERE!! Mine were mistreated and considering the situation, I would say neglected as well! My husband just pointed out both dogs have the same "sore" on both of their noses! I'm wondering WTH that is all about! UPDATE: after taking my dogs to my vet, both have bacteria in their urine and substantial UTI'S. And the sores on their noses, the vet told me, was from rooting at the door trying to get out, probably because they had to go to the bathroom! read more

I took my golden doodle to be groomed for a second time even though I was not totally pleased with the first grooming performed at the spa. She will never be there again. I discussed with the groomer when dropping her off that I knew she was matted but please make an effort to leave her hair, particularly on her face and legs, as long as possible. I am horrified at what they did to her. She was shaved so closely that in multiple places her skin is showing and she keeps licking several spots as if they hurt. I strongly recommend against taking your pet to be groomed at Bloomingpaws. read more

Dr. Melissa Dickinson, one of the vets at BloomingPaws really helped my Bernese Mountain Dog. I have formed a very positive impression of her skill. In addition the service and friendliness of the staff at BloomingPaws is the very best experience I have had with visiting a vet in the many years that I have owned a dog. Dr. Dickinson's holistic treatment for my dog was spot on and she solved two problems in short order. The billing was fair and reasonable and the follow up by the staff to see if the treatments worked on my dog was impressive. read more

Our dog, Nookie, runs into the kennel so he can rough house with his friends. Sometimes we think he prefers group play to being with us. They have a great vet clinic. Dr Francis is very helpful in explaining health hints to us. Their trainer has helped us bond with Nookie. So clean and well run. read more

Sorry I cannot agree with Sara G's rating. However her dog looks fairly similar to the one in the Bloomingpaws commercial so assuming that she is one of the family. I am saddened to say that I have finally asked for my dogs records to be printed off so that I can take my animals elsewhere. I believe the Vet services are less that sufficient and that Bloomingpaws is more into the revenue than the welfare of animals. Seems on every damn occasion you need or want anything for your animal it requires a "vet exam" which is short for tack on another $60 bucks. Recently wanted to have my animal WHO HAS BEEN SEEN AT BLOOMINGPAWS SINCE A PUPPY neutered. I was told that it would require a vet visit before the surgery could be scheduled. There is no valid reason to have the vet visit other than to generate more revenue and take more out of my pocket. I called Arlington and they gave me my pricing, scheduled the surgery, needed NO EXAM and that is that. So now I have saved myself $60, I have my animal scheduled for surgery and believe the caliber of the vets at Arlington are going to be much higher. Seems Bloomingpaws has trouble keeping vets, I wonder why that is. They had a nice lady there for awhile she was more a holistic vet and did not believe in a lot of meds and stuff. I think they fired her because she was not pushing drugs and procedures. So sorry to have to leave but this was the last straw for me amongst other issues I have had over the years as others commenting said. In 2012, I boarded my dog, Biscuit, for a week. I rarely have the need to board him and was nervous. Not only did I feel good and confident when I left him, I was very pleased with his condition and his care when I picked him up. Fast forward to today ... I received a postcard in the mail giving me a $25 discount because someone used a gift card. I did not purchase a gift card nor hand out a referral, so I called Blooming Paws to let them know. They thanked me for calling and invited me to use the discount anyway which I will certainly do. read more

I have been taking my Elvis (dog) to BloomingPaws for several years and both of us love it! The staff is kind, caring and professional and they go above and beyond normal customer service. It is also reassuring that there is a vet on site while Elvis is there to handle any emergency if there happens to be one. They have recently remodeled and the facility is really top quality with new and expanded services. It is a great one-stop shop for you and your pet. read more

Clear lack of communication, professionalism, and confidentiality. The vet staff came out to the waiting room frantically yelling across the room for us to get off the premises and that my dog was contagious. They never explained what giardia was and how to treat it so I was freaking out. The girls running the desk openly told us about how their daycare cameras are managed by a foreign country and never work, then they laughed between themselves with us standing 2 feet away, about how a boarding dog was over fed that Saturday so they won't feed it on the following Monday and just won't tell the owner. I later found out that this facility is owned by an entrepreneur without any veterinary or animal background. Their outdoor play area is very small for the number of dogs and is full of children's toys-dogs are our fur babies but they need dog toys-not human toys. I would never leave my pet with these irresponsible, unprofessional, and careless animal "caretakers". read more

So i wanted to write this to tell everyone to NEVER EVER EVER take your dog to bloomingpaws. I say this because of the abuse my dog endured while going to doggy day care. First off I started in obedience classes with my dog at 6 months but was weary when the head trainer kept recommending the prong collar. I just felt it wasnt for my dog as she has little to no fur to protect her from the collar. So one day i took her to doggy day care and when i came to pick her up she came running to me. She had welts all over her neck caused by someone not trained in how to use the prong collar. It took almost 2 months before the welts went away. But because of this treatment my dog has not trusted anyone except myself since. I have had to put her on medication because of the fear caused by bloomingpaws. When i asked why she had welts they just replied they were showing the new trainer how to use the collar. Now i didnt give them permission to use it. Now going on a year later after the incident my dog does not trust anyone except myself. I want everyone to know that this place seems nice but they kennel your dog half the day when they say they are playing all day. They were not remorseful in the pain they caused my dog and i want everyone to know to NEVER take your dog to bloomingpaws. read more

Beautiful facility---customer service leaves a great deal to be desired. I visited the facility a month before boarding my cat for 4 nights, and got a little tour of the cat room. I was impressed with the nice big window and the four deluxe cat towers (the little cages on the opposite wall seem very depressing). I was told the cats got play time outside the cages and that staff would interact with them. I had boarded my cat only twice before at the old Bloomington Cat Hospital where he actually had a fabulous time (beautiful cat room, really sweet staff, etc.). I will spare you all the examples and simply cut to the chase. The staff do not seem very experienced. When I came in to drop off my cat, he seemed terrified of the cats on either side of him (oddly, the walls are glass so the cats have to see other cats---knowing cats as I do, this seems strange). My cat's next door neighbor was clawing at the glass and meowing and hissing and distressing my cat, but I was assured they would put up a barrier (the guy quickly tried to use masking tape to tape up a small,thin blanket that did not cover the glass, and of course it kept sliding off). He assured me they would have a barrier. My cat hid and hissed, and I asked the guy if he thought I should leave my cat. He said he'd "seen worse." This seems to be the default. I did leave my cat, thinking he'd settle in without me fussing over him, but when I phoned later, no one seemed to know who I was or who my cat was (there are only four deluxe towers), and I was told "he was still upset," but he wasn't hissing and growling any more, just hiding where I had placed him in the upper shelf of his tower. That was Saturday before they closed, they are closed Sunday,and so I had to wait to phone on Monday. When I checked in, it was a repeat of before. No one knew who I was, no one seemed to know who my cat was, and I was put on hold. LONG hold. Finally, someone came to the phone and gave me a tepid, "he's okay." I'm not a hoverer, but since my cat is 12 and has not been boarded for at least 7 years (I usually have in-home pet sitting), I wanted a little more detail. So I asked if he was eating and using the litter box. (It was like prying information out of them.) I was told he "isn't eating as much as we'd like, but we'll monitor him." WHAT? Monitor him? I asked if he was sick. No, we'll just keep an eye on him. An eye on him? Well, I hope he's getting more than just a casual eye. Anyway, I didn't call again, feeling very put off, and when I went to pick him up, the desk staff were all disorganized, and again no one seemed to know who I was or who my cat was. Finally, a guy took me back, at my request, to see my cat, and my cat was really depressed. I asked the guy if he'd gotten of the cage at all, and the guy said he thought so. He weighed him and said he had gained 3 pounds. "Do you mean ounces?" I asked. I asked if he thought things had gone all right, because I wasn't sure about boarding my cat again. I wasn't looking for false reassurances, I just wanted some information about how the whole stay had gone. "We've seen worse," he said. "Your cat wasn't any problem. He's pretty low-maintenance." I explained that wasn't my question, that while I was glad he hadn't been problematic for the staff, my concern was for the cat. I never did get an answer. There's a lot more to say, but it all adds up to this: untrained staff, who I'm sure mean well, but who don't seem to know how to communicate with human clients, etc. We all know cats are finicky and not usually happy about change, so I was certainly willing to accept that. But I didn't get any sense that anyone there actually cared about my cat, or even really knew anything about him. The other thing is that they never told me they charge extra to give a pill (my cat is super easy to pill). Not a big deal, but when they gave me the bill, I mentioned no one had told me this, and the woman at the counter got defensive and said they'd always charged, etc. I explained I wasn't arguing, that I would happily pay the extra fee, but that it should have been explained when I first inquired if they gave medication (I also had asked if there was a fee and the first person I talked to had said there wasn't). My point was simply that communication seems very poor there. So here's the thing. Your cat will live, if boarded at BloomingPaws. The towers are nice for boarding, better than a cage, and there is a window. Given the lack of communication on the part of the staff, I hope the business gets a web cam for the cat room, just as they have for the dogs. I just don't get the sense that any of the staff I met are "cat people." Since animals cannot speak for themselves, we rely on caretakers to give us helpful information. I would have appreciated a simple three-sentence report of how things went, so I can determine if he will adjust better the next time, etc. I'll finish by quoting the staff. We have been bringing our adopted fur baby, Simon, to Bloomingpaws since shortly after we brought him home. He has been attending daycare several times a week for over a year and a half and I couldn't be more pleased. Our pup has some separation anxiety and knowing he isn't home all day alone getting into trouble while we are at work is such a relief! He is always tired at the end of the day (which is impressive considering his busyness) and is eager to go in to daycare every morning. The staff always greet him by name and welcome him every time we are there. They even post frequent pictures on Facebook so I can see him in action. Even though it seems like a simple gesture, it is wonderful to see him in action at daycare. They are also VERY good about letting me know about any kind of health issue immediately and even call me during the day to let me know if he has any kind of issue and he is checked out on the spot (he has very sensitive paws!). I am thankful for doggy daycare and the staff at Bloomingpaws and have even been able to transition off of night shift knowing Simon has somewhere safe and fun to be during the day! read more
