The rep from Blooma came out to give me a quote on some tree work. He brought his unleashed dog with him. My daughter came out of the house and the dog ran towards her, seemingly friendly, and the dog bit her on the hand puncturing the skin. The rep did not apologize - in fact saying something about he should have told her you can't reach down to pet small dogs (??!!). He never called to ask how she was or ask any further questions about the injury. It was an incredibly painful injury that took days to heal. I would never hire this company as their lack of control and empathy is too obvious. read more

On September 6, 2019, we took Martin Macauley co-owner of Blooma to small claims court for return of the deposit + costs. When the judge ruled in our favor Macauley angrily told the judge he had won 5 similar cases. Macauley considers himself an expert in contract law. Macauley was ordered to pay us $329 in 30 days. Macauley hasn't paid, he emailed us stating he won't pay us until we remove un favorable review. He clearly doesn't understand he has a judgment against him. It takes a lot for me to write a poor review, but I feel compelled to write about my experience with Blooma, which was really frustrating and full of poor customer service. First, my service was rescheduled at the last minute to a time I wasn't able to be home. When I arrived, as the team was finishing up, my neighbor informed me that they had parked their chipper in front of her house (where her granddaughter was napping) instead of mine and when asked to move, they refused, saying they didn't have time. I also found the crew's empty water bottles strewn around my property. When the stump grinder operator returned on another day to grind the stumps, he crushed a brick wall with the machine. Although he graciously apologized and said someone would come fix it within a few days, it never got fixed. After waiting more than a week, I had to fix it myself. When I contacted Blooma again to ask for an explanation and a credit on my bill, the owner was not apologetic at all and refused to give me the credit I requested. It's a shame that the service was so poor, as I have additional tree work I need to hire someone for, and I have several neighbors who have asked for referrals. I've never written a review before but this was an exceptional and gross demonstration of unprofessional behavior that requires a buyer beware type warning... Martin's and Blooma Tree Expert's demonstrated a profound lack of knowledge of, or disregard for Seattle permitting requirements and much worse, blamed the home owner for Blooma Tree's failure to complete the job contracted. I obtained the permit for our tree removal from the Seattle Department of Planning and Development (SDPD), on 04/04/14. SDPD has jurisdiction over tree removal on private property. The permit is still active. I contracted with Martin at Blooma Tree Experts for the removal of a very large cedar tree on private property adjacent to the side walk. On 04/24/14 I emailed him a scanned copy of the SDPD Site Work Approval permit for the tree removal. He put off the work for many weeks finally giving us a date of 06/05/14. He blamed City Light for the delay stating that was the soonest available power line drop date (later found to be a questionable excuse). On 05/15/14 I emailed Martin and asked if I should go ahead and get the no parking permits from the City as required or was he going to do it. He emailed back not to worry, he would do it himself. The city requires the barricades and no parking notice be placed 48 hrs in advance of no parking date. 06/04/14 the day before the work , Martin had not set up the no parking barricades as required (48 hr advance). I called him and had to leave a voice message (polite) to express concern and to ask when they would arrive. At 10:23 that night Martin sent me an email thanking me for calling and stating that he had totally forgotten.. and Oh and by the way the job will not be done until 06/06/14. The day of the work, Martin set up the boom truck on the sidewalk with the truck pulling the chipper on the curb in front of the house and the crew started working on the tree. My husband left for work and once they were well started I got in the shower. when I was all cleaned up I looked out our window and observed the tree crew cleaning up the work site preparing to leave. Surprised, I went out to see what was up, and was advised that the work had been closed down by a Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) inspector. SDOT has jurisdiction over the right of way, including the sidewalk, median strips and streets. SDOT also includes "Urban Forestry" which has jurisdiction over the trees in the right of way. The SDOT inspector, Daniel C. had written a violation of the codes indicating "Unlawful Use of the City's Right of Way" Martin / Bloomatree Experts Had failed to obtain the proper permit for the boom truck in the right of way. Nor had he gotten the proper no parking permits as agreed. He had also not copied or posted the SDPD authorization for the tree removal. SDOT requires three documents to block the sidewalk/street or use a boom truck: "Street Use General Application", "Construction Use Permit Application", and "Site Plan Template." Martin had neglected all three. Instead of behaving in a professional manner and taking responsibility for his failure to comply with SDOT requirements, Martin accused me of not obtaining the permit for the tree removal. I reminded him that I forwarded him a copy of the permit and that he agreed to be responsible for the no parking permit. He stated to me that "he never gets a permit for the boom truck" and that its never a problem if there is a permit posted. He continued to deny that I sent him the permit or that he agreed to obtain the no parking permits. (I have email verification of all) He continued to pack up the job and left the site. I confirmed in person with SDPD that no one had called in a complaint to their office about the tree removal, and SDOT had received a complaint and finding no permits for the right of way, they sent out and inspector. When the inspector showed up, and apparently not knowing the difference Martin called SDOT and rightly confirmed with them there was no permit for removing the tree in their records (that's because the tree was not in the right of way). Had he called SDPD they would have told him immediately that there was an active, valid permit. Our job was stopped because he didn't get the proper permitting for the right of way and boom truck, and because he didn't know the difference between SDPD and SDOT. To add insult to injury, Martin has been exceedingly rude and unprofessional about the whole situation. If he had only taken responsibility and owned up to his mistake I would not be posting this, but that is not the case. I have documentation that all my statements above are accurate and truthful. Martin the owner of Blooma Tree Experts was not an expert, was rude, irresponsible and unprofessional in the way he handled our case. Blooma did a great job on our two pines. That were very safety conscious and left the yard in top shape. Plan on using them again.

Our condo contracted Blooma to do general pruning and cut a ~2 foot clearance around our building. Instead they cut somewhere between 30-50% of the canopy out of our birch, leaving a raggedy collection of spindly, sick branches that are worse than no tree at all, and a clearance of what must be easily 8-12 feet. It's now sitting on our deck with nowhere to hang it, because the 8 foot clearance to the tree makes it impossible to reach. The bad news is, a week or two after the pruning the entire tree sent out a second set of new growth even though it had already fully leafed out, which is often a sign of distress. Several weeks after that, the half (there are two leaders on this Birch) that was pruned most aggressively started exhibiting darker, wrinkled leaves and drooping significantly. At this time it has developed several patches of brown dead leaves, and I wouldn't be surprised if it died entirely. read more

I called Blooma to get a quote on trimming 3 trees and removing another. Martin came to the house and was professional, courteous, and quick to explain why I actually had to get 2 trees removed as one of them was dying. His quote was reasonable, I liked his demeanor, so I decided to hire his company to do the job. Several days before the agreed upon work date, I emailed Martin and asked if we could add a couple things to his estimate and scope of work. He didn't reply, but I wasn't too worried as I would be at the house when they got started, and we could discuss it in person. On the work day, the crew showed up on time and quickly began dismantling the larger tree that needed to be removed. Martin wasn't with the group, so I explained to one of the crew my unanswered email and hope that we could add a bush removal and some quick tree trimming along the driveway to the scope of work. Apparently the guy who could make the decision was all the way up the large tree, and the guy I was talking to said he didn't know, and since it was Friday they wanted to get out of there quickly. I asked him to have the decision guy call me, as I had to go to work. No call came. When I got home, although the extra requested work was not done, I found that the crew did a great job removing the 2 trees. There was no debris in the yard, the stumps were totally gone and I had a huge chip pile in my driveway, which is where we agreed they would put it. The bummer, though, is that they completely blocked in my trash and recycle cans. Look, I know you are in a hurry, but seriously, couldn't they have moved the cans before building an igloo size chip pile? Or better yet, shift the pile just 5 feet north (there was plenty of room). Also, there was a huge pile of firewood on the blocked side of the driveway. Martin had told me that he would have a guy come get it. I waited a few days with no word from Martin on its removal but finally had to get somebody else to come take it because, wait for it, yep, the huge pile was blocking my wheelbarrow which I needed to move the chip pile. Also, when Martin was in my yard giving me an estimate, he really went out of his way to explain how the asian pear and the thunder plum trees needed to be trimmed. I explained that a big part of my concern was that both trees were encroaching on neighbors' yards and I definitely didn't want that. Neither tree was trimmed nearly enough to bring it back completely into my yard. Perhaps further trimming would have killed the tree? I don't know and nobody left me a note or called to explain because that probably would have cut into their weekend planning session. Summary: I like Martin and felt as though his interaction with me was professional and thoughtful. His crew was extremely fast at tree removal, and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. If I had been able to be there the entire time, I'm confident that my issues would have been resolved on the spot. Would I hire them again? Yes, but not on a Friday because they don't want to be there. read more

I gave a down payment of $250. Cancelled my tree removal job and asked instead for them to trim a few limbs or do $250 worth of trimming. They kept the nonreundable down payment and did no work instead. Lame! read more

I wish I could give them 6 stars, or more. They were working on a neighbors yard. I popped over to ask if they could give me an estimate on a tree in our front yard. Ben headed over soon after - gave me an very reasonable quote - and offered to do the urgent part of the job right then. Their kind and careful work was professional and wonderful. They avoided a car in the neighbors yard with grace, worked around the mess of power lines tangled in the branches, cleaned up the site, and were very pleasant. The fact that they were also willing to do part now and finish the rest later was ideal. Ben offered to do the full job but I was hesitant to take the full tree down right away. They only collected partial payment and couldn't have made me happier. To polish it off, I came inside and the scheduler was calling in response to my earlier email and was ready to schedule the remainder of the work. Sad to see the tree go, but thankful for their efforts to keep my family and home safe. read more

I'll be honest. Great work and done very quickly. However, I was shocked at how rude and unprofessional the guys were to me. When they came out to give me an estimate they guy told me to have my driveway clear and to ask the neighbors next door to have thier driveway clear. We cleared our driveway and parked our truck and trailer in front of our house. I failed to let our neighbors know what time they were coming so when Blooma arrived there were still some cars in our neighbors driveway. One guy got out of the Blooma truck and stated that thier driveway was supposed to be clear. Didn't say "Hello" or "Good morning " just attacked me. Not a big deal, I walked over and asked my neighbors to move thier cars. Done! Problem solved in less than 5 minutes. But the Blooma owner was pissed and his first words to me was "We're not doing anything until you move your car out of our way!" Again not "Hello" or "Good morning". I said "yes doing that now." And moved my car from in front of my house to down the street. I had another question for him and was trying to ask but he proceeded to lecture me about how our cars weren't moved to his satisfaction. I said " Well, everything is clear and out of your way NOW..." The Blooma owner then ignored me then said he needed me in my house. I said "Ok, guess we'll talk later..." If you needed our car completely off our front property it should have been communicated. To get all bent out of shape over our cars not placed to your satisfaction when it was never communicated in the first place is ridiculous. Plus the problem was fixed. I moved our truck and our neighbors moved thier cars. I was so upset I thought about pulling the plug on the whole thing. Didn't and instead called the office to tell the manager about my experience. I got some story about how everything that AM went wrong/a tree climber didn't show up to work/something about a school bus was blocked blah blah blah. As a client who is paying you at least 2k, I don't care what the drama is, I expect professionalism and at least a "Hello" or "Good morning" upon arrival. One of the crewman came to my door after my phone call and apologized but again it filled with reasons why everyone was in a bad mood. When I went outside to write my check, the lady felt the need to inform me that thier receptionist had called the day before to confirm my appointment. I said "Yes she did. I spoke with her and she did a great job confirming our appointment. That was never an issue." Clearly word got around that I was the unhappy client and she felt the need to drive home her defense. (For an issue that I was not upset about or ever mentioned.) What could of been a chance for recovery became a moment of confirmation that we will not be spending money on these people again. I read the other reviews and was hoping for what everybody else experienced. I'm terribly disappointed and now need to find another company to do rest of my property. Wasn't the worst customer service I've had, but for the amount of money I paid, I was extremely disappointed. God bless them and all that but they are rude and don't know how to build customer relationships very well. read more

My two 45-year old Birch Tree's look beautiful! I was concerned about having them trimmed fearing since they had been neglected for many years, they would never look pretty. Martin and his team were professional and polite. We had a big laurel tree that we were originally going to cut down to a stump and have Blooma come out and do a stump grind. We quickly realized we were in over way our heads...especially after we broke our chainsaw. I called to get an estimate on having them take the whole tree as well as the stump grind. Martin (the owner) and his cute little dog hopped in his truck and drove over to our house (this was even after business hours) to check it out. We were pretty impressed that he was willing to do that. After all the work was done, you couldn't even tell there was a tree ever there (except for a pile of sawdust, of course). We have a number of big trees on our property so Blooma will get our business from now on. read more

Martin (a Certified Arborist) came out promptly and gave us an estimate AND an education about trees. Long story short: do NOT fall for the so-called "Wind Sail Reduction" option - trimming healthy branches throws off the trees natural structure and makes it MORE prone to wind damage. He did recommend that we trim dead branches and branches that are rubbing. His crew came out promptly on the scheduled day and did great work. I note they used throw lines and pulleys to scale the tree and not tree climbing spikes that damage the trunk. The invoice matched the estimate and all the branches were cleaned up. They are professionals who care about trees and their customers. read more

Martin is an experienced and thoughtful arborist and has given us great advice over the years on how to best care for and maintain our trees. His crew is extremely well trained and skilled in trimming trees in order to keep them healthy and growing strong for years to come. The equipment and techniques he uses is state of the art and enables his team to tackle most any challenge. Was extremely polite and we ended up talking about business for awhile (as I am an small business owner myself). They came to do the job with 4 guys and got everything cut and cleaned up extremely fast! Was very impressed with their service and would definitely use them again! read more

This post is in regards to Martin Macauley's response to my review of Blooma Tree Experts posted October 28, 2017. I take issue with Mr. Macauley's comments posted on Nov. 16, 2017. Here's why: 1.) I AM NOT interested in having money taken off my bill. I AM interested in receiving a high quality job from persons claiming to be arborists and tree experts. I AM interested in being dealt with in a fair and respectful manner. Blooma left the job site abruptly on October 20, 2017 without asking us to review the work. The work was incomplete and did not meet the terms of the contract. That is why I contacted them later that afternoon and detailed my concerns. This is the basis of this dispute. Had Blooma delivered a good job (as promised) there would be no dispute, no issue. Had this company been willing to be reasonable and act in a dignified manner, all of this back and forth could have been avoided. 2.) After exchanges between Blooma and myself, Josiah Macauley came to our home October 27, 2017 to "make good" on the job (original work was done on Oct. 20th). He admitted that the job was not done well and that it needed modification - it needed to be improved. (Martin Macauley said Blooma spent one and a half hours at our home on Oct. 20 - most of this time was spent trying to negotiate a fair and equitable solution of which Martin Macauley would have no part. In the end, the two-person crew spent not more than one-half hour doing the actual work.) This wasted time is ONLY because Blooma Tree Experts failed to meet the obligations of the contract from the get-go. At this point I was frustrated and fed-up with how I had been treated by this company. I wanted a fair resolution to the dispute - I felt they had already breached the contract, Martin Macauley had been unwilling to compromise. I could see the "handwriting on the wall" and felt it was wise to settle and move on. I agreed to let the company attempt to "make good" on the job and pay $900.00 plus tax (less the $250.00 deposit). 3.) I signed a contract to pay $750.00 for my yew and arborvitae hedges to be pruned and, agreed to, in writing, via email, to pay $150.00 to have 3 stewartias shaped/pruned. I mailed a deposit of $250.00 in August. 4.) When the job was "done" October 27, 2017 (after I expended way too much time and energy trying to get the job done to a reasonable standard - still not totally happy with the work, but anxious to get closure) I wrote about my experience with this company on YELP. When I received the invoice from Blooma, there was an additional $250.00 tacked on - for work which was to be included in the original contract ( this portion of the work was discussed with Josiah Macauley and apparently not detailed in the job description). Because I wrote an unfavorable review, did Mr. Macauley add an extra $250.00 to the invoice? 5.) I refuted the final invoice - as any reasonable, sensible and rational person would do. 6.) Josiah Macauley (co-owner) called and ASKED me to take down the YELP review. He said they would reduce the bill by $250.00 (part of the disputed amount) if we deleted the review. Josiah Macauley espoused the opinion that the review was very detrimental to Blooma Tree Experts and pleaded with me to compromise by deleting the review. Hmmm. 7.) No, my husband was not "SO PLEASED with the work" that he asked to have a quote for pruning a laurel hedge. This notion has been completely spun - taken out of context. Background: When the Blooma crew arrived at our home Oct. 20,2017 - BEFORE THERE WAS ANY EVIDENCE OF THE QUALITY OF THE WORK BEING DONE - my husband asked for a quote on additional work (laurel hedge). Had he known the incomplete and lousy work done by this company, he would have not requested a quote for additional work. Martin Macauley's assumption that my husband was "pleased" with the work, is not accurate. 8.) We have used Ballard Tree Service quite a few times - most recently, Summer 2017. The crew climbed tall fir trees, worked on a steep slope - two men, equipment, plenty of risk - 8 hours of work for $1600.00. After their stint, they came to our door, conferred with us about their work, made some modifications and then left the site. We had no dispute with them (and never have), because they were fair, efficient and did a good job. read more

We had 2 trees that we needed help with. The first was a 30 foot apple tree- a beautiful old tree that was overgrown. You could see where the previous owners had cut it back years ago- much too far back. Now the branches were intefering with our neighbor's fruit trees and we could not access a lot of the fruit b/c it was so tall. The second tree was a big red cedar that was clearly sick or dying. We loved the tree, but it wasn't well and posed a risk to us and our neighbors in a storm. Martin came out and assessed both trees. He clearly loves trees and wants to protect first. He immediately new the cedar had to come down- and the price for that was very reasonable! He immediately new what to do for the apple too, could see that the previous pruning had been much too extreme and came up with a plan about what to do and how told us what we could do ourselves to keep the tree healthy. He then walked around and gave us some free tips on how to take care of our rhododendrons! The price for the work was reasonable. The leader of the crew was very knowledgable. They worked quickly and efficiently. As sad as it was to lose our cedar, the apple looks great and the cedar was taken down safely. Martin is a licensed tree expert- you don't want to use those guys who drop flyers off in our neighborhod until you check to see if they are licensed. Otherwise they could hack your trees and cause serious damage. read more

I hired Blooma right off the internet with no information on them other than online reviews. They were amazing. They showed up on time, had the work done in a flash (and it was substantial - 2 very large trees removed and tons of serious pruning elsewhere). The workers were polite and knowledgeable and when I asked them to do a few (small) extra things for me that I noticed after the fact, they did them willingly and did not a charge me. And by the way, their price was more than fair. I couldn't believe that they cleaned up so well that when they left the yard looked exactly the same as it had looked when they arrived. Not a branch, not a leaf. I couldn't have been more pleased with their work. read more

I've had Blooma Tree Experts to my house twice to do pruning/trimming/tree removal. Both times, Martin worked around my schedule to meet me and walk around the property, taking careful notes and explaining to me exactly what was to be done and why. At the end of the tour, he went back and reviewed every item, then gave me an estimate that I found very reasonable. It's a pleasure to work with him, always. When the day came when two of my sickly trees were to be removed, I came home expecting to see piles of branches waiting for the city, or at least some messy debris in the area. To my delight, the area looked as if there was never a tree there. A pleasure to work with, a good price, and quality workmanship. Kudos! read more

We recently bought a house and our neighbor's large oak tree was encroaching on our property and rubbing against the roof. We called Blooma after hearing and reading many great reviews. Martin came out the same day for an estimate and quoted us a reasonable price. Martin asked very specific questions and was able to tell me about different options based on future growth patterns. Although they were booked out past Christmas, they were able to fit us in early one morning. The team was professional and quick, and the tree looks amazing. It doesn't touch the house, but otherwise you would never know. Looks beautiful and shouldn't need another trim for a number of years! We were very pleased and would definitely use them again. read more

Blooma Tree Service is not a trustworthy or honorable company. Our experience with them began when we had a shared tree that needed to be removed. We got a bid from Blooma to take the tree down. Unbeknownst to us our neighbor also got a bid from them - theirs was a thousand dollar difference in which Blooma claimed they would have to contact PUD to take the power lines down. Also they would take down a portion of the fence and put it back to its original state. Does it really cost $1000.00 to make a phone call? The fence is now propped up with 2x4's. Not a real upstanding job. The removal of the tree went well. Things went bad for us when we asked them to trim branches on three other trees while they were already here and had all the right equipment and the power lines were down. At that time, Martin wrote up an contract to do this; we thought it was high but signed it anyway. These were for branches growing over the property line. Before all the branches were trimmed the neighbor told them to stop and threatened to sue. The lead cutter came to me and said they would not cut anymore as they weren't going to be sued over a couple of branches. Remember these branches were hanging over our property and we had every right to cut them. They packed up and left. After they left we discovered a large broken limb on a flowering cherry tree at the end of our drive, that was caused by one of their trucks. We tried to contact Martin about getting the job finished or the cost reduced for unfinished work and damaged property. After repeated unanswered phone messages and emails asking Martin to come assess the damage and unfinished work, the response we got was 'The work was completed', and we owed the full amount. This went back and forth several times and he never acknowledged the damage to the flowering cherry tree. Finally I pressed him on the broken limb and he said he would reduce the bill by $50.00. Upon trying again to have Martin come out and resolve this face to face, his response was we owed him the full amount minus the $50.00. We feel we were ripped off - paying $1000.00 for a phone call and a bad fence job. Also, for an extra job unfinished, and damage to our property. I would not recommend Martin or Blooma Tree Service to anyone we know. read more

I wanted to take a minute to call out an exceptional business I recently had the pleasure of working with. I had a tree that needed to be taken down and another that needed thinning out. I called Martin at Blooma and he promptly showed up the next day to provide me an estimate. He not only gave me the price he took the time needed to explain the reasoning for doing the work. It is not often in todays age you find someone like Martin and his team that actually care about their clients and his devotion shows through in his work. The day of the service he and his team showed up and promptly had the one tree down and the other thinned out. They cleaned the yard up better than when they showed up and will most definitely recommend them to anyone I know looking for any tree needs. As an update I also had them do some work at my parents and they echoed my sentiments that Martin and his team were top notch and they were extremely happy with the prompt service, the professionalism he and his team, and most of all they had the lowest price of all companies they had estimates from. Martin and the crew did an ace job on our deodar cedar; thinning nicely in summer, then removing Christmas week, once we decided to go ahead with that. His crew cleaned up fallen branches cones so nicely that our yard actually looked better after the procedure than before! They were also careful as humanly possible with plants around the base of the tree, which is not easy with large branches falling about. They also beautifully stacked the logs for us.Thank you--we appreciate your hard work!! This was also much cheaper than we thought it would be--they can't be making too much money considering number of men working & hours it took. read more

i hired blooma tree to prune a large dogwood tree. i got bids from 2 other companies and their price was comparable. i checked L&I and they were licensed/bonded and insured as they stated. the crew was easy to work with and showed up promptly as promised. they were friendly and professional. they hauled the wood up from the backyard to the front and told me someone would pick it up within 2 days. they actually came the same day. the office staff was responsive to my questions via email. i would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Excellent! Couldn't be better. We had three trees that needed work, a large Douglas fir, a plum tree that was in pretty sorry shape from neighbors chopping on it, and a lilac. The fir tree was the main problem -- it was encroaching way too much on our neighbors, was making everyone nervous in windstorms, and was dominating our back yard. We had to duck under very large, low-hanging branches to get around in our yard. Martin stopped by and talked with me about all of these trees, and was very thorough and helpful in his explanations. He made his recommendations, we scheduled a time, and when we came home from work that day, we were amazed at the difference. The fir tree just looks great -- a lot of dead wood removed, and many of the dense interior branches were thinned, but in a very even way all through-out the tree. It looks like it has a much lower wind profile, it still looks beautiful, it no longer dominates our yard, and it no longer hangs all over our neighbors' yards. We're very happy with the work, we would certainly hire Blooma again, and we would recommend them to friends without hesitation. read more

I contacted Blooma to get a quote to remove an enormous tulip tree located almost against the backwall of my house, on the property line, hanging ominously above both my and my neighbors house. We had decided to take out the tree after a windstorm last winter had deposited nearly 2 tons of broken limbs on our roofs, which took us two days to clear and hall off, with more work at height (3 stories above the ground) than either me or my neighbor were comfortable with at our ages. I had contacted two other companies at the same time, requesting quotes. All three came out to look at the job, but only Martin quoted it. It was very difficult with such a large tree located directly over two house, with no ally or drive way access to the backyard. In fact, there is only a 3 foot wide gate to give access. I liked Martin upon meeting him and my wife and I decided to go with Blooma even though it was the only bid we got, and it was a LOT of money! Days later, I added two Hawthornes to the removal list. Martin and his crew showed up on the appointed day, removed fence sections from my and my neighbors fence in order to set up a tight-line between the tulip tree and a large tree in a neighbors yard that was used to lower much of the tree into the middle of my yard. Then, they went about bringing it down, big limb by limb. It a slow and dangerous work and Martin spent most of 2 days in the tree, and his guys were at work for 3 days including the time for grinding the stumps out. In all of this difficult work, there was only one small mistep which resulted in a broken deck board which was professionally replaced and stained to match and cannot be seen today. When Blooma left, there is zero evidence that they had ever been there. Every single thing was cleaned up completely and the lawn and deck blown, raked and swept clean. The only thing left was a pile of wood chips from the stump grinding which I elected to keep. Now comes the most shocking and amazing part, the final bill. It was an incredible 27.6% under the quoted bid! I called Martin and asked why. He said the job simply took less time and was easier to do than he had estimated and he felt bad about charging the originally quoted fee. How often does that happen these days? I'll tell you, NEVER! Martin and his crew are a bunch of skilled and hard working guys. And, Martin himself is obviously one highly ethical person. You can't find a better person to do business with than Martin. read more

These guys are unsafe, rude and inconsiderate. They start super early in the morning, which will make your neighbors unhappy and cut limbs haphazardly, creating potential distraction for your property and leaving you with a huge liability. When I called the company to complain about the onsite crew's safety and professionalism, the person who answered didn't even know if they had a permit for the site. Really? Avoid using this company and their unsafe, rude crew at all cost. read more

Blooma did a great job pruning my very large magnolia tree, rhody and fig as well as taking out a dead dogwood. They were prompt and showed up when they said they would. I am disappointed in Martin's behavior. He did not cut the branches that are inches from the power line and when I called him to ask him to please come back and do it. He replied nastily with a, why didn't you point that out before we left. Well, I did point it out the day I gave him a deposit. And, I didn't point it out before they left, because they didn't tell us they were leaving. They simply left. I have sent two emails about this two months ago. Looks like he does the minimum work and has a bad attitude. I simply not used to someone leaving me such distasteful voice mail messages. read more

My experience with Blooma Tree Experts was similar to others negative experiences. Martin came to my home and provided a bid for work on two hedges, north and south. I spoke to his office and gave them the go ahead to do the work on the south side. On the day of the work I spoke to a person at their office and again asserted that work was only to be done on the south side. When I arrived home I found that work had been done on the entire hedge. When I raised the issue with Martin he essentially called me a liar and claimed that I had never indicated that the work was only to be done on the south side. I am going to pay Blooma's bill but will never use them again and discourage others from doing so. read more

I contacted Blooma to inquire about removing a small maple in my yard. Martin even did a drive by of my tree to give me an accurate quote. While I decided not to remove the tree at this time, I was impressed by the professionalism and speedy responses to my questions, even after I left a message saying that I wasn't going to use their services. Very sketchy business practices. We made an appointment to cut a hedge. We never signed a contract nor made a deposit. We canceled the appointment. They claimed that by making an appointment, we were contractually obligated and owed them for liquidated damages. We disagreed and they took us to small claims court for $250. The judge ruled in our favor and threw the case out. Lesson is if you are not sure you want to use them, do not sign a contract or make a deposit because it will end badly if you want to change or cancel. Completely one sided contract. Their work product was good and we would have used them again, but their business practices are awful and now will never use them again. read more
