There is something not right with Kristin, the owner of the salon. When setting up an appointment and then her no-showing, it's like communicating with multiple personalities. I made the mistake of trying to book more than once and it was always a cancellation or no-show and then some excuse - and then blaming me for it! I made an appointment with Kristin a week in advance for a consultation. On the day of the appointment, she messaged me a few hours before asking if we could reschedule or if I could just send detailed photos of my hair instead. I responded back promptly with several photos and an explanation of what I was wanting yet I heard nothing back nor did I get any confirmation of rescheduling. It looks as though from other reviews that this behavior is repetitive which is very unprofessional. People have to carve time out of their workday to make these appointments so if she doesn't care about our income then I don't care to add to hers. No thanks read more

I drove an hour to go to Kristin. I showed her inspo pictures as well as pictures of my own hair in the last year. I signed up for a balayage online and she ended up doing a full highlight without telling me as well as charging me for a way higher amount. I asked for a platinum blonde and right after blow drying could tell that she didn't tone it cool enough as it was already showing some Yellow. In the days to follow I reached out to Kristin with my concern. She asked for pictures and said she wasn't sure why it looked the way it did. I began asking when I could come in to get the tone adjusted. This "professional" begins to IGNORE me. At this point I have texted and called and left voicemails and she refuses to respond and just leave my with the mess of YELLOW she created on my hair. Don't waste your time! I drove an hour to Dallas for my hair appointment with Kristin Brown and the salon was closed. I called two different numbers (the one on the website and the one that was taped to the salons door) for 30 mins trying to figure out why the owner of the salon was not there for my appointment. I have yet to receive a call back and it's been 24 hours. I even direct messaged Kristin on Instagram...nothing. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional person in my life. Kristen is super sweet and does a great job! I always love my hair. I know that she's busy running 1 salon while opening another, but that shouldn't affect customer service. Scheduling/lack of communication is my main issue. My last 5 appointments have either had the time changed or been rescheduled completely. At least 2 out of the 5 appointments she hasn't shown up and one of her stylists has had to do my hair instead. The stylists are fine, but I drive out of my way to have Kristen do my hair because I like her the best. I'm usually given a discount because of these reasons, which I appreciate, but eventually enough is enough. If she can't keep appointments, then she should start cancelling them. My last appointment was one of those times she didn't show up. The stylist said she hadn't even heard from her... I sat there waiting for 30 minutes before I was about to walk out. The stylist begged me to let her do something to my hair for free because she felt bad, and I agreed. When I was done, she told me Kristen would call me to talk and schedule my next appointment... From the reviews and photos I decided to try Kristin and I'm sincerely glad I did as she was an absolute doll! She was extremely professional and her work was absolute perfection. Her color work is one thing but even her haircut was amazing! I've had horrible experiences with cuts and color in the past so I get a bit scared every time I get a haircut. Her cut and color gave my hair so much more volume, dimension, and shazzam. She is fairly priced and worth every single penny. The salon has free valet parking, mimosas and her head massages (among other things) keeps me coming back. I have to say I am shocked by any bad reviews because I have had FANTASTIC experiences every time with both Kristen and Joshua. Kristin has done an amazing job getting rid of orange I have sometimes had with other color jobs - I get so many compliments! And Joshua has done stellar work with glazes on my hair, keratin and AMAZING blow outs. They both bring a high level of professionalism to their work. It's clear they love what they do and take each client seriously. They do have multiple clients there at times but color takes time and they are very thoughtful in balancing application and 'setting' time across their clients. And BTW good color takes time - especially for thick hair like mine. To cap it off - they are kind and fun to be around! Have you ever wondered why Kristin has so many positive reviews? She gives clients $20 off if they leave her a positive review on yelp. This is the reason why she gets so many new clients. She will also discount if you check in on fb & give other incentives to keep their mouths shut.I used to rave about her, but that is no longer the case. Her service has gone downhill rapidly in the past 1.5 yrs. People rave about how great she is about doing blonde hair, but the fact is she can't do anything else. I would consider a good stylist as someone who is able to transform people with different natural color hairs, but as one of her few non-blonde clients I am telling you that her non-blonde coloring is terrible. The blonde coloring I felt forced to put in my hair is just sub par. I am pretty positive she only feels comfortable doing blonde coloring, highlight, etcs. b/c of her minimal experience. My reasoning for this is because whenever I suggested non-blonde highlighting or low-lighting I was always quickly shot down. Do not tell me you're not going to do a different color because it's "not in fashion" or make some excuse. If you look at her pictures, you will notice all she does the same coloring on every client. Moreover, she is consistently late. Everytime I go see her I have to wait 30-45 minutes past my appointment time. If you're going to be running that late the least you can do is shoot me a text prior to my appointment so that I do not have to sit there & waste my time. I feel that I have been VERY accommodating to her whenever she has moved my appointment times last minute to a different day or asked me to come earlier or when she has completely rescheduled me to different days. She actually does this quite frequently & I got to the point where enough is enough. Kristin, who is barely 21 or 22, does not understand what it takes to run a business & that you cannot treat your clients this way. Everyone once in a while is ok, but to do this ALL the time is irresponsible. She has actually even left some of my appointments early to go out and meet her friends and handed me off to her assistant before completing the service. Talk about unprofessional. She has made it clear that she is more concerned with partying than with her own clients. I can understand a one-time necessity, but to have this happen several times to me...wow. I've gotten excuses that she needed to cancel appointments for a wedding, etc. Then the next time I see her I will ask how the event went & she didn't even know what I was talking about and said she hadn't been to a wedding recently. If you're going to use bogus excuses to re-book clients do yourself a favor & try to remember the excuse so you don't look like a donkey. I had been doing keratin treatments with her and the first came out really well, but the next 3 did not and it was as if my hair hadn't had a keratin treatment at all. I told her how I felt after I got one of the treatments done & she responded to me 1 WK later saying I could do another one at no cost and also made some excuse that if an appointment gets cancelled it goes to a wait-list. I've been seeing her for well over 1 year and never heard or saw a wait-list on the website. Well, she made no effort to fit me in to ease how I felt. Instead, I had to book 1.5 mo. out. Then something happened with her system & it cancelled my appointment two days before. I text her and didn't get a response until another week later. I had to reschedule again and wait another 2 months. I had done the treatment in January or early Feb and wasn't able to get it re-done again until April. She gave me two shampoo bottles for the treatment instead of shampoo & conditioner. I didn't notice this until I was literally in the shower with my hair soaking wet. I text her quickly to see if I could have someone pick up the other bottle since the salon was still open. I didn't get a response until 2 days later and the only reason I got one was because I started calling the salon. Not only had I paid for the 3nd treatment and was unhappy with it, but I had to wait 3.5 mo. to get it re-done & THEN my treatment was ruined b/c I had to use regular conditioner. She made an excuse that my hair wasn't ruined b/c only Keratin shampoo mattered, but then why had she been so adamant about me absolutely not using any other shampoos or conditioners in the past? She said what was convenient for her. Lastly, she recently increased her pricing by a significant amount. My hair coloring treatment basically increased by $40 (more than 30%), the haircut by $10, etc. The bottom line is that Kristin is not worth this increase; She's always making promises & never following through with them. The other reviews that she responded to and quickly shot down were accurate in my honest opinion. I went to see Kristen for the first time almost a year ago. I had a horrible experience but felt too bad to leave a negative review because she is very young, sweet, and timid. However, a couple of recent experiences made me decide to write a review because I don't want everyone being fooled by all the positive reviews like I was. Even if Kristen was the best stylist in Dallas, which she is not, it would not be worth the insane amount of time and trouble it takes to be her client. Kristen uses her cellphone for business and never answers or returns calls, but I had just moved to Dallas and was determined to get an appointment based off her Yelp reviews. I got in touch with her after several weeks of failed attempts and got an appointment a few weeks later. At the time Kristen was working out of another salon, and when I arrived around 10 AM all the doors were locked. I wondered if I even came to the right place because no one was there and there was nothing to indicate that Blondes & Blowouts was located inside, but I wasn't going to give up after working so hard to get the appointment, so I stood outside waiting around 15 minutes before receiving a text from Kristen saying she would be late. She arrived around 10:30 saying her car broke down and she had to take an uber. Okay, totally understandable. So we begin my appointment and the whole time she has another client there who her assistant is working on. He approached Kristen constantly and I did not feel like she was focused on my appointment. Additionally, he did not seem knowledgeable as he was asking her about every single step and she had to leave me sitting there several times to go do things for him. I started feeling bad for the other client as I'm sure she scheduled an appointment to see Kristen, not her assistant. Kristen proceeded to tell me about a negative Yelp review she received and how horrible this client had been and how she was not in the wrong at all. You would think with all her 5 star reviews she wouldn't be so caught up on her ONE bad review (at the time), but she continued to defend herself to me. I initially felt bad because she seemed genuinely upset and she is a very nice girl. Then, a woman came into the salon claiming she drove an hour just to speak with Kristen. She was a regular client and needed an appointment, but could not get ahold of Kristen for months. She seriously asked Kristen "do you not want to do my hair anymore?" and Kristen replied nonchalantly like the customer was being ridiculous for thinking that. After the client left, Kristen talked to me about how crazy she was acting, and I agreed. I'm not one to act like that in public even if I was truly upset with my stylist, but I can see where the woman was coming from now. My appointment lasted several hours, but since Kristen spent half of her time with me helping her assistant with her other client, she had to reschedule my haircut. My highlights looked pretty good but nothing extraordinary. I returned a few weeks later and sat in the salon waiting room around an hour. I had the first appointment in the morning and Kristen hadn't even arrived at the salon yet. Two more clients showed up and I heard them check into the front desk for their appointment with Kristen. After over an hour had passed I finally told the receptionist I had to leave. I knew in addition to waiting over an hour, my appointment would take forever and I had better things to do with my day off. As I was leaving, I saw her pull into the parking lot. Maybe some clients are alright with being treated like this by someone who they are paying, but to me it's not worth the hassle. There are plenty of quality salons in Dallas with talented stylists who will actually respect your time and not make scheduling appointments such a nightmare. This week I received a phone call from someone named Nicole who was calling "Kristen's clients" to let them know that Blondes & Blowouts is offering 15% off until Christmas. Obviously Kristen is not booked for the holidays, one of the busiest times of year for a salon, so she is having to call every client she's ever had and offer large discounts for her services. I also received an email from a salon called "Bourne Blonde" saying that their clients have been getting calls directing them to Kristen Brown's salon. Don't know what's up with that, but the whole thing is sketchy and makes me believe that she is somehow trying to scam her way to the top. read more

It's been terrible since my first appointment. First of all, she raised her prices...a ton. And I never know where to meet her for my appointment. I swear every time I've had my hair done, it's at a new salon, and she doesn't update me to tell me which salon she is at now. So I end up at the old salon. Absurd. She has a huge problem with the customer service she fails to provide to her clients. I drove all the way from Fort Worth for an early morning appointment, and was stood up. Another stylist called her, and she didn't do anything to fix it. Apparently there was a mistake with the appointment book, but the stylist said she was probably hungover. While I was getting my hair done, another girl came in. Apparently, she had an appointment with Kristin as well. She was also stood up. This other customer stated she was here to fix her hair color done by Kristin, and has been trying to get Kristin to fix her hair. However, she states Kristin was either 30 minutes late or would not show up. Kristin did not do anything. Will be taking my business else where from now on. AVOID. read more

I had an appointment for 4:30pm on a Thursday. She called and asked me to come at 5:pm because the salon was running late, which I did. After waiting for 35 minutes I finally stormed out. She apologized and asked me to come back the next day. The next day she cancelled!. She apologized again and asked me to come back Saturday where she AGAIN left me sitting in her salon for 30 + minutes while she blow dried another client!. First, let me say that I am not a competitor but a customer. I was not given the chance to give a review on Kristen's services as I was there for the first time and waited over 1.5 hours --she was a NO SHOW!!! I understand that circumstances happen and sometimes we miss appointments. But to this date she has not called, texted or had the common professional courtesy to even email me about why she NEVER showed. I made an appointment and had been waiting two months for this hair color appt. My mom is a realtor at a very highly recognized company and I discussed this lack of professionalism with her about Kristin.
