I received a notice from San Francisco Public Works informing me of damage to the sidewalk in front of our rental property. Looks to me that this "damage" occurred when someone other than myself had re-cemented this sidewalk after which someone walked over it and left shoe marks. I would think said company should be responsible for this, but alas, I had 30 days to address the issue. I contacted a few concrete companies and they told me it was patch job and they don't do jobs that small. I stumbled upon BlockBusters Concrete on Yelp. I called Patrice and he said to send some pictures and he'd give me an estimate. I sent him the picture that the city inspector had sent me and he responded within an hour with a price and 2 options. I went with option 1. He took care of it the next day. I Zelle'd him payment and viola, problem solved. We had a pipe burst under our driveway, so the plumbers had to jackhammer a section of our driveway out so they could repair the pipe. It wasn't a large space, maybe 16" in diameter. We needed someone to replace the driveway concrete and make sure that it was poured safely over the pipes. BlockBusters came out the very next day, gave us advice on how to fill the hole and wrap the pipes, and came by a few days later to pour the concrete. DON'T BOTHER I contacted BockBusters Concrete for a quote. They did not respond to my email so I called to verify receipt. He agreed to meet me at 7:30 AM. I waited until 8:15 and asked them to contact me to reschedule. Texted and called them. Never heard back. Blockbuster Concrete does not have the courtesy to say they are too busy to meet. Communication is a very important factor in choosing the right contractor. I can't imagine what they are like when they actually do the work. After this, I combed the reviews a bit a more and found other(s) have received the same treatment. So, DON'T BOTHER contacting them. UPDATE: After leaving an honest review, I received a kind of aggressive message from the owner. See photo. I contacted Patrice for an estimate on a driveway that I needed repaired quickly. He was enthusiastic in accepting the appointment. We met on the property and he said he would take the job and provide an estimate the next day and could start right away. We dismissed all other bids and decided to work with him. We coordinated several other next steps with vendors around his agreement to do the job. The next day I did not receive a bid. Understanding that sometimes life gets busy, I sent a follow up. I also researched a bit about the job and sent a video to him asking if that was the scope of work we'd be completing. He did not respond. I sent several follow up text messages and did not receive a reply. I called and left voicemails with no reply. It has been 5 days and still no reply. His messages show that he read my contact. Very unprofessional. I wish that my time had been respected and I hadn't gone through the trouble of meeting and booking him when he didn't intend on communicating or honoring his agreements. read more

Some concrete was heaved up on the sidewalk in front of my house and in a patio behind the house. These spots were trip hazards. I just wanted to find someone willing to mitigate these uneven spots and not try to sell me a "system". I left a voice message earlier this week. He responded with a text the next day (so the number is good for texting). He came out the day after that and offered to call me back to let me know when would be a good time. He had a larger job get cancelled, and was available. He and his helper came and ground down the concrete with an angle grinder for about 2.5 hours and charged 300, which is reasonable for two people doing 2.5 hours of work that I sure can't do. They also spotted another bit in the sidewalk and ground that down as well. So, good for small jobs, no big sell, good communication, reasonable rates. read more

Owner, Patrice, and his helper, Norm, did a great job replacing the old, crumbling concrete parking pad in our 1930's garage floor. They excavated a couple inches of dirt, as well, so that the new pad could be 4" thick (compared with the old 1.5" pad) & remain level with the rest of the garage floor. Patrice came out to give us a bid very quickly (the quickest of the 3 we called), was on time for both the bid and the job, was very reasonably priced, and did a professional job. Patrice does hauling, too- so for just a little extra they took our old junk to the dump along with the old concrete.
