We had the pleasure of speaking with the manager Dan. Awesome is an understatement. We spent about 1 hour and some change in there and we knew so much more after we left. Dan titled it "knowledge vomit" which made me laugh so much. Ok, so Dan has a ton of knowledge, is honest, not time pressured, funny, and everything else that customer service should stand for. In the store you can feel the atmosphere and it is refreshing to find people with passion for what they are selling combined with passion for people. A bike is an investment that you should feel good about, but after the amount of knowledge gained, test driving 3 bikes we know that a "Walmart" bike is not the way to go for us. Great bike shop! It has been selling and servicing bicycles in the Antelope Valley for many years. Knowledgeable Staff, Competitive prices, and HUGE selection of bikes, parts, accessories and apparel to fit your cycling needs. (They even sell scooters if that's what you're into.) Customer service/sales will treat you like there's no internet and You are the biggest idiot on the planet. I purchased a bike from them a year ago and it's fine. I checked after the fact and found they charged me $50 above MSRP. So I wanted to get one for my son, I called and now they want to charge $250 above MSRP because you know "like it's got hydraulic brakes." So does mine. Asked if they had a 21.5" frame. "Oh we only go by small, medium and large. Just got off the website that specified inches and centimeters. It's just like cars in the AV, you have to drive down below to save yourself $100s in this case and have some variety. Wish Gil's hadn't gone out of business, these pony tail geniuses that have the amazing ability to balance a wheel are truly obnoxious. Wonder if they have reached full potential? read more

So my son and I wanted to go get a specialized bicycle, a 3000 dollar purchase or more. Upon arrival we walked around the little shop for 15 minutes before they even acknowledged us being in their store. I then asked if they could measure my son so we could figure out what size mountain bike would fit him. The owner, I think told us that he would not tell us unless we by the bike off of him. Well that's why we went into Block Bikes to get a specialized but after he talked to us like that I decided to leave the store and not purchase a bike from a inconsiderate person like that. What happened to customer service, what happened to being a helpful salesperson, I was disgusted by the way we were treated. So I left and went over to the Squeeky Wheel bike shop and bought a bike where I was treated with respect and customer service was excellent! Got my first pair of cycling shoes after years of hesitation (worried about the sizing and clipping in/out). Every one there was so nice and helpful. They were able to find a pair that comfortably fit and gave me the tip to practice clipping on my trainer before hitting the road/dirt. Tried the shoes and they are awesome. Dan was really nice, And patient. The rest of the staff were nice as well. I brought my son Troy with me to this shop, for a fs mountain bike. Dan gave Troy a really good deal on a full suspension Specialized mountain bike, and helped pick out a helmet for Troy, and it was his first mountain bike purchase. I talked with Dan a few days prior to coming in and he showed me bikes they hand on hand. We discussed options and pricing. Needless to say, we got a very good deal. I Looked at other store pricing and options in the A. V.. and no One could Touch the price Troy paid. Now we can ride together. Been in there several times. Not a real friendly place unless your buying a $2000 bike. Bike shops used to be the nerdy place to buy accessories after you bought your bike and they were glad to sell you a tube and patch kit. We went to Blocks after being treated deplorably at Aces N Eight and I gotta tell ya, They really Crapped out and now from now on Blocks will get our business even though the other is about 3 blocks away. I was trying to purchase 2 bikes for my kids for Christmas and the sales rep JACOB was not helpful and acted as if he did not want my business. He was very unresponsive to my questions and when I tried to complain to the Manager, Scott, he also seems uninterested in my business and gave no apology at all for my treatment. I'm very confused by these reviews or maybe they were being held up or something, I really don't know. What I do know is that they will never receive my business again. A few months ago I went here to buy a tire for an old 1980's bike. In spite of it being for an "old school" bike, I was met promptly by Dan and treated in a very professional manner. I was so impressed with the customer service that when yesterday I decided that I needed to retire my other old bike, I immediately thought of returning here. Again Dan met me as soon as I came in. He asked me what type of riding I wanted to do and then showed me an appropriate bike of the correct size. He patiently answered all of my questions about how bike technology had changed since 1976. At no time did he even hint at being a pushy salesman--I appreciate someone who's primary goal is to make the customer happy. After answering all of my questions, he offered to let me take it out for as many laps of the parking lot as I wanted. He adjusted the seat to an appropriate height for me. He even threw in tire sealant and two water bottle cages for no extra charge. Minor adjustments are free for the life of the bike. The price of the bike was significantly lower than what a colleague of mine said I could expect to pay for what I wanted. Overall a very pleasant experience. read more

Bad News Blockheads.... Went to the Block Shop to have a bottom bracket installed. Went back into the service area and met with the mechanic and I hand him the bike and the part to be installed. The Mechanic asks me how much I paid for the part. I think he is going to tell me The Block Shop could have got me a better price. So I tell him $35.00. He informs me of the price of the repair and that they will also be charging me a 50% surcharge on the bottom bracket because I didn't buy it from them. I said No. He tells me this is their policy. I reply See Ya!!!!! He asks me to wait while he goes and gets the boss. I wait 5 minutes. No boss, no mechanic. I leave. The gall of this place to think that they can up charge me for the privilege of working on my bike. I can only imagine the bait and switch that goes on when someone purchases a bike. read more
