Got hair and makeup done. 5 stars. Hair was great, the stylist was attentive, professional, clearly experienced, and worked with me to achieve my vision, and then some. 1 star. Makeup was terrible. The application happened in the corner station... the lighting is uneven as it's near a window and you're sitting diagonally, creating weird shadows. The MUA even said the lighting in the corner makes it hard. The application itself was a mess. I don't think my MUA had very much experience, and definitely not with hooded eyes. There was no primer used on eyes or face, no eyeliner (I had to do this myself), and lashes were cut to uneven lengths so on one eye it was too short ( I could not tell at first because of the lighting). The glue application was awful and the eyelash popped off as soon as I stepped out of the store, but I was too over the whole experience to go back and try to have her fix it. I could have done a better job myself and won't be using their MUA services here. read more

So disappointed with the makeup application. My hair looked great but the makeup wasn't good at all. I could've done better myself. Are they even trained to do makeup? They had me using the mirror in the eyeshadow palette. Why don't they have a handheld mirror? It was so pathetic. I definitely wasted my money. For $200+ I would hope it would look nice but nope. I live for a good blow out & Blo, Blow Dry Bar Centennial delivered bombshell hair for me this weekend. I arrived at Blo and checked in at the front desk. My stylist was Brooklyn Castillo. Chief Style Boss & Manager. Brooklyn was as sweet as could be. She showed me to the styling chair and we discussed which blow out style I wanted. Blo offers numerous looks I was able to select from. I went for the Red Carpet (a bombshell blow out). The cost of a blow out appointment can vary from $55 - $95 dependent on which blow out you select, what hair length you have, & what upgrades you add on. Blo offers a Blo Membership for $90/month (+$30 for clients with extensions) and that membership includes 2 blow outs each month along with additional discounted perks. Blo also offers full face makeup application. Brooklyn led me to the wash station where she shampooed and conditioned my hair. During the wash I received an epic head massage (seriously I almost fell asleep, it was so relaxing). Brooklyn worked her fingertips across my scalp in small circular motions and applied light to medium pressure to my head. I usually don't come to this location but had to due to some time restrictions I had with my event and the salons' availabilities. The massage was amazing and extremely relaxing, and the work my stylist did was cute. My complaint? I was in the chair for an hour and a half with an added charge for extended time. I almost always get the same thing every time I go in and always walk out in 45 min and $59 plus my tip (at my usual salon, mind you). I don't pick fights and make big deals when it comes time to pay but at least notify me that you'll be charging me for extra time that the stylist took, not me. I was looking at about $100 today with the $74 charge plus a tip. I have long hair, but the fact that I'm able to get my wash, blow dry, and style done in 45 min has made me believe that if it takes any longer, it's due to the stylists pace. This was really upsetting and will make me think twice next time before going to these salons. read more

I have been wanting extensions for some time now. Did you know blo can do extensions?! Yeah me either! But they have an absolute expert in Jullia to give her recommendations that would work best for you. I was really worried that my multi dimensional (I've had several different tones and highlights) blonde would be incredibly hard to match. Jullia was able to customize my extensions and it was a perfect and seamless match, I needed no color correction or chemical color matching! And might I say that these may be easier than my regular hair? The picture with the curls are completely heartless (I literally woke up like that). Dear God they scammed me. Don't do the membership. These people submitted my membership even though I decided against it on the very same day at the very same appointment. The owner told us that it was too bad and that it was like a gym membership that you don't use. Except I cancelled the thing on the same day!! He said I could not cancel in person only via email!! OMG!! At first I thought they made an honest mistake but now I know they intended to scam me. They offered me no remedy. Stay away! The service sucked too--they are no Dry Bar that's for sure. I absolutely love Blo Blow Dry Bar. Shaela and her team do a "blowout" job! My main squeeze here is Brooklyn who I have been seeing since they opened in July of 2022. She's amazing and has my hair "pinned down" to where I can tell her to do whatever she wants and it's always perfect. On Sundays I see Marie who is an absolute delight and again, a true artist. I also rotate with Bri and Flo who are just darling and do the perfect style. Megan is fantastic and although I haven't worked with her, she is a joy to chat with and I might just catch her for a makeup appointment soon! You will never know if Shaela is in the salon or not by how professionally her team runs Blo when she's not there. To be fair, I made a last minute appointment for a blow out. The scalp massage while getting my hair washed was amazing. Brooklyn was super nice. I said I just wanted a blow out with volume. This is what I got...no volume and the sides are super uneven. I told her the sides didn't match and she tried to fix it...The kicker is that it was pouring rain and I watched other guests be walked to their car as I put my hoodie over my head and ran out. I had hair and makeup done here for my maternity shoot. The stylist who did my hair had issues doing a braid. They have braided styles in their look books. It had to be redone more than 3 times. She would ask me if it was ok when it looked horrible, it was either too thin, or my hair looked like a frizzy mess. Don't know how she would think that was ok. The kicker was the makeup. It's Bare Minerals. Had I known this was what they used I would have never booked. It doesn't blend well, no primer was used, eyeshadow was all over my cheeks AND it irritated my skin! I've been dealing with irritated broken out skin ever since. Granted I have sensitive skin, but I'm have had my makeup done by other brands with no issues. This stuff was horrible. Maybe just go to one of their more experienced stylist strictly for a blowout. read more

Florense is a great stylist, super friendly and gives wonderful head massages! Only downside is no complimentary glass of wine during the week (available weekends only). I usually go to Blo on Hampden and enjoy a glass of wine, especially if I'm with friends. This amenity has become pretty standard at The Woodhouse and most spas/hair salons. This location is lacking that little extra decadence that would add a lot to the experience. It seems short-sighted to me. I'll continue to go on my own but wouldn't consider for a fun outing with friends. read more

I had an extremely poor experience here.... I booked for a wash and style for my 40th with a limo picking up from my house hours after this apt. The first red flag was the lack of care the stylist gave towards her own appearance. If you are working in a beauty salon, shouldn't you take care to dress and style yourself well? She told me I had "very dirty hair." While true - I didn't wash my hair before coming to have my hair washed- totally not a kind or helpful thing to casually say. As she finished the style I was in tears thinking I'm going to be in the center of attention tonight out of the town for a special event and I look horrible!! I was trying to be nice while honestly assessing this wasn't a trendy look or the look from the book. Another woman came over and tried to fix the mess. I said to the new woman "Does this look good to you?" She didn't reply. Hmm.. that's telling. I was given a slight $10 off even though I didn't ask for one. I was very uncomfortable and wanted out of there quickly so I could go home and fix this. I went home and re-curled my own hair. I was so incredibly disappointed with the money spent and the lack of response with a poor style job. A full refund would have kept me from leaving this review and there wasn't a chance I am the kind of person that would ask for one. As a business owner, you should know a refund/no charge is the only way to fix a botched job. Beware! You're experience all depends on exactly who you have working on you for the day. read more

I came to leave a review and saw the previous review written in September. I was in the store the day this woman was there and was disappointed to see what she had written. She was extremely rude to the stylists and even to a contractor she was talking to on the phone. Her stylist was extremely experienced and it was just that this woman kept changing her mind every 5 seconds that the poor girl doing her hair was trying so hard to please her. She left the store looking so beautiful like a model. Her stylists did such an amazing job with her hair and makeup that the next time I came in, I requested these two specific stylists and loved how my hair and makeup looked so much that I ended up signing up for the membership so that I could enjoy all the other perks.
