On a trip to visit friends in Cincinnati, the "mountain" was our first adventure, and Blind Lemon was our first stop. Fell in love. The minute we walked in, I felt like I was transported to a mix of my grandma's basement and an eclectic art museum. The brick walls with hanging teapots and vintage photos and paintings made for a cozy feel. Join that with the fireplace and great live music, and you have yourself a quaint and intimate night. I usually am not a fan of places where the seating is so... close... but it somehow fit the overall magical aura of the bar area. We were almost shoulder to shoulder with the table next to us, but it wasn't weird or crowded. To completely overuse the word: it was cozy. I ordered the Old Kentucky Home in honor of my hometown (Loretto, home of Maker's Mark), and I must say Blind Lemon did an excellent service to the bourbon. Strong drinks, creative menu. Service was also amazing. We went on a busy Friday night and it took a few minutes for our server to get to us. She apologized profusely and the boys' first beers were on the house. She was attentive and patient (from my experience as a server, I know a group of old friends that have chosen your establishment to catch up and drink can't always be the most cooperative of parties.) Such an amazing little spot. I'm kind of in love. I went with a friend on a Monday night and it was just perfect weather... they have a giant courtyard/patio with live music (Monday it was two old guys with acoustic guitars singing and having a great time - I loved it!) The inside is pretty adorable as well - but this is definitely an awesome place to go on a nice day/night - the courtyard is just so dang lovely! PERFECT place for a date or just to relax for the night. When I go out in Mt Adams this is where I like to start at least (but sometimes end up here all night!). Great live music that isn't loud and obnoxious, usually something lighter like acoustic. I love this place. You don't even have to drink alcohol to love this place. It's a super casual bar with outdoor seating (I love in the fall/winter time when they get a bonfire going) live music, and a great historical vibe. You walk through the strange alleyway into a hidden oasis of history. The bar itself has a ton of character, lots of old items and decorations to gaze upon if the conversation lulls. I'm lucky that I'm only 5'3" because beware, the ceilings are pretty low. I love sitting outside, though, in the fall/wintertime. Not only is there a bonfire to keep you warm, but there is an excellent selection of warm drink options that fit right into the season. The Blind Lemon is one of Cincinnati's greatest hidden treasures, and hidden it is. A thin alley nestled between Mt. Adams Bar and Grill and Daveed's leads to a flight of stone steps. At the bottom of these steps is a quaint patio, surrounded by ivy covered buildings on all four sides. White Wrought Iron patio furniture is arranged in semi-circles around little coffee tables. Sometimes there will be a guy with a guitar. this is a great place to just relax, have a drink, and talk. The inside is very small, and has an eclectic old timey feel. The drinks can be a little pricey, but are good. The main thing here is the atmosphere though, just a cool place through and through. The Blind Lemon has been around for a while too. When I moved up to Mt. Adams my grandpa asked me if it was still there. He said that he used to hang out there when he was in college. Also, a tip for parking in Mt. Adams. The hill on Wareham Dr. seems to be one of the last places to fill up, and it's not too far from the bars. read more

I cannot get enough of this place, and I've only been there once. I was visiting a friend in Cincinnati, and was immediately charmed by Mt. Adams and the Blind Lemon. The neighborhood atmosphere felt so much like home (Madison, WI), and the bar itself was super cozy too. I loved all the found stuff on the walls - great conversation starter if you're on a date. Blind Lemon is my favorite bar in Cincinnati, and it has been since I first went there 3 years ago. I love the ambiance and the decor. I often notice something on the walls that I haven't noticed before. There is live music almost every night--one of the best is Jeff Henry who plays every Sunday. His voice is like silk (that's what my friends say and they tend to be right.) The drinks are strong. The staff are lovely, kind, and fun. In the summer you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. There's a fire pit some nights during the week. But in the cold winter, or when it's raining, everyone is inside. I like it best when everyone, including the performer) is inside. It's nice and cozy. They don't serve food, except pretzels, popcorn, and mints. But you don't need food there. read more

I was taken to the Blind Lemon on a date over the summer and was absolutely charmed as soon as we got there! Long ago and far away I used to live at 1000 Hatch Street. My favorite watering place in Mt. Adams was Blind Lemon. I used to walk my dog, Misty, down the street and we'd go in and visit with Walter. Of course I'd go there with friends and hang out in the patio. The atmosphere is second to none, and you feel like you're just hanging out in someone's patio. I went back to visit Blind Lemon a couple years ago with a friend when I was visiting Cincinnati and Walter came up and gave me a big hug. And he even remembered Misty! It's been a while since I went to Blind Lemon, but thinking back to it, I'm not sure why I haven't been back. The place is great! I became a fan of Blind Lemon the moment I saw an entire page of the menu dedicated to hot chocolate. And not just any hot chocolate, flavored hot chocolate. And by flavored, I mean spiked. So many options to choose from, and the two that I sampled, one with a cherry liqueur, and another that had butterscotch schnapps, were amazing. Another nice thing about Blind Lemon is the patio. Such a nice space to sit and enjoy a few drinks with your friends. I've also heard that they have a fire pit on the patio to keep things warm when the weather gets cold, but I never made it back in the winter. Now that the weather is getting nice, I'm looking forward to trying some of the frozen drink specialties that I've heard about. read more

As with any establishment in Mt. Adams, parking is tough, but no worse here than anywhere else. What sets this place apart is the lack of the "bro" crowd. If you're looking for a place to dance and chase tail, look elsewhere. If you want a quieter place to enjoy a drink and a conversation with some friends, this is the place to do it. Don't know the name of the guy, but the acoustic guitar player who was there the last time I was in was absolutely stellar. Best Feature: Adorable interior! Charming, friendly staff, and great drink selection! Worst Feature: Parking, not great for big group settings I was recently in here for a big event and was a bit nervous going beforehand since I know usually the location of Mt. Adams means difficult parking situation. Sure enough, it took me a bit to score a sweet spot near the Blind Lemon and I counted myself lucky to have found a spot a few streets away. Getting there, I was a bit confused - there was a sign for The Blind Lemon but the entrance seemed to be a set of stairs leading to a patio. I ducked in the neighboring restaurant, Daveed's, to ask where the Blind Lemon was. Turns out I should've taken about 10 extra steps forward into the vacant patio (cold weather, nobody was out there) and there was a big sign stating where the entrance was. Once I entered, I was totally in love with the charming interior. Romantic lighting with lamps and lots of decor awaited me with small tables, perfect for an intimate outing of 2-4. The hostess / waitress was very nice to me, greeting me and helping me with picking a drink. As I was being responsible, I asked for their tea selection. The rest of the drink menu looked fantastic, and I wish I could've had one - put that on my "to do" list. She listed off a main tea and said she could bring out a tray of available teas, but I just decided to try out the first one she mentioned, "Cosmic somethingorother". I chose to drink it hot, and it was nice to have her ask me first what my preference was. The tea was absolutely great and I sipped on it happily while meeting the others in the group event I was attending. The big downside for me was how hard it was to get around the small back main room - once we had about 20 or so people there, it was insanely hard to navigate anywhere without have to ask others to move out of the way. I wasn't a fan of that aspect, so if I came back it would definitely be for an event where I'm just with a few people. I loved it there - I definitely want to come back as the menu selection looked great, prices were what I'd expect, and the service was great. It would be a wonderful place to take a first date... If you were willing to spend a LOT of money on your drinks! I have only been here twice- once on the inside and once on the outside. I recommend the outside for all the reasons above. I recommend the inside never. The inside is ridiculously cramped. There is no privacy and you feel like you have to hunch to not his your head on the ceiling. Maybe I should be giving this place more of a chance. One of the best spots in the city -- any time of year. I've been here in autumn and winter, and love the fire pit. We went here earlier in the spring and they had live music inside. We used to go in college if we wanted a "classy" night out instead of the overdone house party kegger scene. The festive drinks are great and the staff is friendly. It's a good place to hang out and chill outdoors when the weather is nice, or when the fire pit is going, and the inside has its own kind of bizarre charm. But, hey, I have to hand it to any place that has both beer and hot chocolate with butterscotch schnapps on the menu. Came here for some drinks, and it's such a cool spot! We were seated outside on the patio, and there was live music. The music was soothing and folksy, and the atmosphere was really cozy and chill. I got the french martini which was solid. Someone else in our group got the warm baileys drink which was awesome! I am super excited to come back when it gets cold outside, because they bring out fire pits then, and they have a full menu of warm drinks to try! Another nice touch is they brought out free popcorn! Blind Lemon is the perfect spot to wind down on a Sunday evening. It is nestled in a cozy backyard-like area in Mt Adams. When I lived in Cincy, my friends and I would frequent BL every Sunday night and listen to Jeff Henry serenade us with "Banana Pancakes" or another song. It became a tradition. In the winter, we'd cozy up indoors and admire the paraphernalia on the walls. In the summer, we'd sit on the patio chairs, and sway to Jeff's voice. It's an amazing place to relax with your friends, or pass the time with your significant other. All of their drinks are delicious. In the winter, I recommend warming your throat with a Blind Baileys drink (Baileys and coffee/cream). In the summer, try one of their Iced tea drinks or anything (you probably can't go wrong with any choice). I love love love this place, and highly recommend this hidden gem. read more

In town for convention and read about this jem in the hotel guide. One of the oldest and most romantic places in the city. Did not disappoint. It has the feel and architecture of an old west village NYC speakeasy, with great love music/acoustic acts. We were fortunate enough to stop by and got to play a few songs with the wonderful singer last evening. The one waitress even did a Lana Del Ray cover and was amazing! Would def return and hope to maybe play a few sets here. If I could ever open a place, it would be just like this place! We said to ourselves "there is nothing about this place that we would change." It's so good, that we actually said it would be worth another trip to Cincy to check out this and a few other spots we found. Btw karaoke is right up the street too. Very unique atmosphere. Be warned, you are seated at a table like it's a restaurant. This makes it a bit cold. Because you are tethered to a chair, you feel uncomfortable mingling and freely moving about. It's also very cramped. It should also be noted that the bathrooms are small, awkward and not very well marked. I wandered into the female restroom by accident because the signage was way above the stained glass door up in a dark corner near the ceiling. Ladies, hold the door when using the restroom. This is the quintessential date spot in Cincinnati. It is also one of the most popular hang outs in Mt. Adams. The place is terrible in the winter...too small and service is horrible. Bathrooms are even worse. In the warmer months where fires can be built on the patio/courtyard or in the summer, the bar is much better in the sense of you don't feel like you are crowded into a sardine can. The is live music and the crowd is usually a mix of tourist/locals (Rich locals mind you...it is after all Mt. Adams) and folks are dates. Small pub-like atmosphere inside, with a fantastic courtyard. The pub feels very old school European and the courtyard kinda reminds me of some of the courtyards you would find in new Orleans. Eclectic servers, okay beer selection, somewhat watered down mix drinks take away from what could be an amazing hangout.
