The framing/printing staff at this store, Maria, Xiao, and Tera, have been such a pleasure to work with this year. They've framed and matted 8 or 9 pictures and made beautiful, archival prints from 7 or 8 special photos. These items have been in my phone and closets for years, and now, finally, there's enough time and cash to get everything up onto the walls. Having tons of questions and being aware of how complicated this can be, I approached the whole thing with trepidation. And now, couldn't be happier with the results. They asked questions, explained the process, and made suggestions that worked. Everyone has a great sense of color and proportion, and all the attention to detail and documentation you could ask for when handing over your artwork. Folks, thank you for the technical (cropping, getting digital images out of my Mac and into Blick's servers) AND artistic education. With Tera's enthusiastic attitude one day and Xiao's patient, calm demeanor the next, I forgot to be anxious and actually had a good time. Prices were reasonable and definitely transparent. Some of my things were complicated and/or special, and worth the $$$ spent. On the other end, there was no attitude and no shame for being unable to spend a fortune on each piece. For instance, Maria was happy to take a low priced stock frame off the shelf so that the complicated 2-opening mat one item needed was affordable. When a pick up was enormous and heavy, Tera actually helped me out the door, down the block, and around the corner. She waited with me for an Uber to come and get it all home! Though turnaround time is not instantaneous, Blick meets promised deadlines. Last but not least, shout out to Phil, another employee who chatted with me during a short wait. I think this might be my first review ever. Anyways, upon entering I was a warmly greeted by every employee I crossed paths with. As soon as my hands were full of big paper, Grace, asked me if they could free my hands and held the paper upstairs at the register. Then an employee with glasses and a beard helped me find the ideal brush for a new project- very informed. Then at the register, Grace was so kind and it was a good cherry on the metaphorical sundae of a shopping experience. My niece want to make a picture frame so I went to get some markers the store is cute I see so many things I want to buy but this was for a one time project although after leaving block my mind went into over time thinking of all the things I can create. OK - So, I sort of feel "Obliged" to actually write a proper review about this place. I really like this place. I don't like the fact that they send me countless / worthless emails every few days about I don't know what. They have some really cool and serious art supplies, which are of no value to me; things that I don't have any business owning - But, they do have a fine selection of those difficult to find "Disposable" writing implements that I love. Store is filled with a lot of cute and cool "Knick Nacks" - But, I wish that they actually had a wider and better selection of stuff. Be careful going up and down the stairs - you could potentially take an unexpected spill and get yourself really injured. I'm serious. I was a bit frightened. Check out process is disgraceful. Management should have a talk with this "Hipster Employees" that they employ. I've visited multiple times and have personally witnessed staff engage customers in nonsense small talk discussion. Than again - Does this establishment actually serve "True New Yorkers" - I don't think so. We're in Brooklyn, NY Guys! - Let's get it going. On more than one occasion, I damn near had to leave my items - because I was going to miss my LIRR Train back to Queens. I always have a pleasant experience shopping here, both PRE and DURING Covid shopping trips. For one reason or another I'll ask for help from someone on the floor and they are always friendly and helpful. Same go for the cashiers. They are also doing delivery and curbside pickup through custom lists on the Blick website. They have pretty much everything you need, though folks should know this is *not* a Michael's craft store and you're not gonna find that kind of stuff here. BUT what they do have they often have great deals on - just scored 2 free Canson paper pads today BOGO. Get the Blick Preferred Customer card for even more discounts. read more

I meaaan...every Blick I've been to has made me very very happy but this one feels extra special. The layout is great -- there are three petite floors that are easily navigated between -- and there's an emphasis on locally produced items (like Utrecht paints) and NY themed goodies. Been there about 5 times spent over $50 each time. The last two times was followed for Some stupid reason felt uncomfortable and sad as well. When I went to pay for my items at the register and was asked if "I found everything ok"? I mentioned that I did but did not like being followed.
