Sugar cookies for my 50th birthday!

Wow! Talk about delicious! My husband and I ordered a cake for my 50th birthday from Blessed Little Kitchen. I wanted a classic white almond cake, like you would have at a wedding. It was the most delicious cake I have ever had! We also ordered cute disco theme sugar cookies. My guests loved them! They are soft but not too soft. They were absolutely gorgeous and just as delicious. The icing used on top of the cookies was flavorful and not too sweet. We will definitely be back and will be our go to bakery from now on!

Everyone at BLK is the best!! I just did a custom order with them for my finances surprise 30th - theme was "Cam's Jam". Not only were the cookies decorated beautifully (& exactly as I imagined) EVERYONE raved about how they were the best cookies they've had. I can't wait to order again soon for our wedding shower!

I was so disappointed with the bakery.. customer service was surprisingly bad for Christian based company.. I understand everyone has bad days, but I talk to them twice about my daughter's birthday cake and both times they were very short tempered on the phone, didn't seem to want to collaborate on the cake. The cake itself turned out beautiful... But it was so gross tasting. It was dense and dry, very bland. There are a lot of bakeries around the area that make beautiful cakes, so it was a shame that it tasted so bad. We ended up throwing most of it out, none of my guest wanted to eat it after a bite or two. Definitely would not order again.

Small tuxedo cake

How have I not reviewed this place yet? Last weekend I called to see what small cakes (4 in, 2 layer cakes) were available but was disappointed to find out only 2 flavors were left. By chance I asked if anymore Tuxedo cakes (a layer of vanilla cake and a layer of chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream frosting) would be available later in the afternoon (it was 1230pm) and luckily I asked cuz one would be available in 20 mins!!! Score! Since it was just my family of 5, the small cake was plenty for our birthday celebration. And it was oh, so good. I also picked up day old cookies 6/$5 and it came with a variety of flavors (our favs were the chocolate chip walnut and the almond crinkle). Lastly we also enjoyed some cinnamon rolls. I couldn't even contain myself, I opened it right up when I got to my car and ate half of one. I can't wait for our next celebration so I can order a bigger version of the tuxedo cake!

Four pack of rolls

I took my son here on a Wednesday during our spring break for a treat following an appointment. This unassuming find is positioned in the corner of a strip mall off of 47 in Huntley. Once you find it, next to the florist, you won't be disappointed! We walked in to find dozens of different custom cookies for my son to choose from. The aromas were fantastic and we decided we would also purchase a few cinnamon rolls to go home with for the others! They come in singles and four packs and I have to say, you better get the four packs! They were moderately priced if not a bit high. But as a local small business I'm happy to support them! And boy were we glad we did. These are, and I don't say this lightly, the best rolls I've ever had! The frosting was generous and the density of cake was outstanding! One of the best parts is that you can heat them up for 30 seconds to get them to that fresh level. The owner is the one who sold them to us and she is wonderful and engaging. Happy to talk about each treat! I highly recommend!

Everything I've tried so far is fantastic! The raspberry almond little cake is my favorite.

Also hot greasy things like burgers. There's not a whole lot to choose from, but they have the basics it seems. Be ready for a long line. If not that, be ready for no open tables. There seems to be a bigger crowd later, and on weekends. Came to get a few cold items. There's a few that are unique. It's $3 for a medium Slushie, and among the flavors is strawberry. That's not one that's found typically. Points off for not putting strawberries on top like they show it on Facebook. The actual food is mostly typical greasy things. Limited vegetarian choices. There's burgers, hot dogs, and the basic type of stuff you can imagine. For sure summer is the best time to come. It's one of those places that closes for the season. They close for the winter and open in the spring or whenever.

I took my daughter here yesterday (Friday' 5/8) after using Yelp to find an ice cream spot to…read moresurprise my daughter after being in the Huntley area... I mean the name is super fun, almost surprising it isn't a big name already.... While there were only a few people ahead of us, I will say it took a pretty long time for us to be able to order ( we were the 7th and 8th person in line and I think we were there well over 20 maybe even 30 mins and we are in the road...) But the wait was worth it. The ice cream (my daughter got a cyclone, I got a shake. I kinda don't know the difference as my shake had candy in it (and maybe some milk and some soft serve--while I think my daughters was all ice cream--but I'm guessing because I would have thought the cyclone would have candy while the milkshake would be all ice cream and milk...but no bother while I'm guessing my daughters had only ice cream (I was chatting with another family we met while waiting in the long line so I didn't watch too closely) but boy when I got the ice cream it was totally worth it. I got the peanut butter cup (which had some amazing on chocolate ice cream) and my daughter got the snickers...those seem pretty standard, but they weren't standard at all...they put a very well packed small bit of ice cream on top of the shake/cyclone that really looks like raw cookie dough....i don't have a picture (there may be some in yelp) but this super packed, small ice cream was the piece that turned this up a notch....it just looked so darn appealing and it was great. The owner was super jive, saying they've been open about a year (and they had a big line after me too, so that was good to see) Overall while they had maybe a dozen different ice creams (they all seemed like high quality ice cream--and I think they have a few different flavored soft serves too which is intriguing for next time..... The positives- the ice cream was great and it LOOKED incredible...and that's more than half the battle. Everyone's items looked great too which really had me hungry when our ice cream was made -- and it was worth the wait. The negatives - the menu is a wee bit confusing...basically they need a menu as the light wall isn't very clear what things are....i know you can customize things but it's hard to tell what all the customizations were -- and they had several other menu items that I wasn't exactly sure what they might be. They also had a cool looking cotton candy maker right by the check out register but it wasn't marked as a cotton candy maker and I didn't notice any menu item that used cotton candy (and we were in line a long time). I wasmt alone in this confusion as the nice couple (who were ordering with their kids) ahead of me were also a bit confused....and obviously we had to wait a bit longer than expected (which while the store was full it wasn't exactly crazy crowded like I image it would be in the middle of summer). But trust me the good far outweighed the bad...it was worth the wait. My suggestions: 1. Have a handout/ paper menu that is much more descriptive (especially here where the ice cream is not facing the I Entrance so it's hard to know in advance what ice creams they have-- and also because they seem to have some more unique than standard ice cream shop items but I kinda didn't know what they were.::: They also could have a smaller option (the Medium milk shake is pretty large and the Small Cyclone is more like a Medium elsewhere. I know many would applaud this, but I kinda like less is more with ice cream (as after so much it doesn't have that same appeal even it it tastes good :) ) My suggestions -- beyond the above:..: Play into the Scooby Doo thing legally by having things like 'The Creeper' which would be maybe a mint chocolate chip (which they didn't have bet) and the Mystery Machine or Scoopy Snack etc. just play on the name without having Scooby Doo... We will be back before the summer 2026 wraps.

I'll be back again for sure as it was fresh and tasty. I also bought Dubai chocolate I can't wait to try it later. For sure will come back when I'm in the area as my friend doesn't live far.
