Awesome vibe & spot! Can't wait to come back! I had their kombucha and it was super tasty!

This super cute Palmer brewery definitely lived up to the hype. We stopped by early on a Sunday morning. They were serving a yummy brunch but unfortunately we didn't have the time to partake. We needed a few tasters to be able to fill a few growlers. Blood Brothers and Brojito is what we chose. Bleeding Heart definitely has the most unique and largest selection of beer on-tap that I've seen in Alaska thus far. Employees were warm and helpful. Their indoor and outdoor space is a vibe worth experiencing. The only con is you have to use a port-a-potty in the parking lot to relieve yourself...I held it till our next stop. We can't wait to return.

This tiny place packs a punch. It's too classy to be a dive. But it's also eclectic and intriguing and, all around, just awesome. I was telling a friend about it the other day and, I was so animated, he said I should treat it like a coffee shop. Just go and read, journal, hang out. I had not envisioned it that way, but it made perfect sense when he said it. Their motto, "Drink like you give a damn!" sort of sums them up in a phrase. I appreciate they are friendly. I appreciate they have "normal" beers and they also have exciting beers that push boundaries and flavor patterns. I appreciate they have a simple menu that is always changing (though I could eat their banh mi any day of the week). They always seems legitimately excited about the food they are serving and it is always really, REALLY good. They chef is welcoming and kind and he seems to really enjoy cooking. I appreciate the outdoor seating in the summer and the comfy benches and seats indoors. Notables - Bleeding Heart is closed on Monday's. It's possible to walk through a gate and get to Matanuska Brewing. Alaska Pickers share this space with Bleeding Heart and, when the hours line up, you can peruse the shop while you sip on a beer.

Out of all of the breweries that I've had in Alaska this one comes in at #7. Absolutely, hands down, they have the best coffee porter in the state. They need a award for their Grounds for Divorce coffee porter, it's rich, complex with just the right amount of coffee flavor! I was also surprised by their Basic Bit** sour. One of my favorite parts about this brewery is their relaxed, comfy environment that is so inviting to bring your friends and just sit down and enjoy a cold one! They have outside sitting as well which is great. They offer food as well which was very good!

The place doesn't look like a brewery from the outside. We weren't even sure how or where to enter. (Apparently the small door off the parking lot is sufficient, or you can walk around the left side.) Once we figured it out, we found the interior was... eclectic. There were some creative seating options, but not a lot available. Thankfully it was a lovely day when we went, so we sat outdoors. The line to order was long, and they were out of a few beers we wanted to try. Substitutions had to be made. A second flight later on allowed us to taste the root beer, purple nurple, and kombucha. The purple nurple was the best of that lineup. The staff was kind. The food was alright. We enjoyed the Cubano, but the accompanying mac and cheese was cold. We ordered some kind of caprese thing that was nice but unbalanced, with more toast pieces than tomato, basil, and cheese. The napkin provided on the plate was covered in balsamic. It was a novel experience, but not one we deemed worth repeating on our own steam.

Always impressed never disappointed! Great laid back atmosphere, very comfortable. Food is so creative, if you are tired of the same ol stuff come here for something new! The staff is excellent!

During our visit to Anchorage from LA we took a day trip to Palmer. Bleeding Heart Brewery was our first stop and it didn't disappoint. It is a cozy brewery with a great selection. You feel comfortable as soon as you walk in and the staff is helpful in getting you the best beer for your taste. We ordered the cheese charcuterie board with two flights of beer. We tried all but one of the beers in their selection and they were all great or not something we've tried before. The beer selection is smaller than most breweries with about 15 total but good nonetheless. The look of the brewery itself is unique and super kiche in a good way. The brewery is connected to a thrift shop where we ended up getting some music cassettes and a vintage postcard. It was a fun little stop in our day.

Industrial setting brewery. Attached to what appears to be a pretty awesome antique store. Unfortunately they're closed! Beer was decent. Staff would be better if they were more friendly.

Bleeding Heart has finally reopened in their new space! Not going to lie I miss the charm of the farm. This new space is gorgeous, and if I've never been to the farm I wouldn't know the difference. I just feel like the farm perfectly encapsulated the quirkiness of this brewery. None the less I am excited for their journey in this new location. They deserve all the success! The beer is still amazing, and some of the most creative brews in the state. The space is very nice, and they share the building with Alaska pickers so you can get some shopping done too while on site. Bigger space means bigger brewing capacity, and they have the tap list to prove it! I didn't try their food menu, but I am excited to go back to sample some bites and see where they go with the food side of things. Excited to have BHB beers back in my life so I can continue drinking like I give a damn!

I want nothing more than support local breweries, but I was a bit underwhelmed with Bleeding Heart. TBH it was probably closer to a two-star experience. Located adjacent to Matanuska in Palmer, this cozy place offers some limited seating inside along with outdoor picnic tables and heaters. The beer list was different than most breweries these days, which could be good or bad depending on your preferences. No IPAs or lighter ales, but several non-beer options for the one who prefer some trying else. The Guillermo el Hippopotamo was tasty (stout with hiracha). They serve brunch until 7 on Sundays. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which were "meh" at best. Come for the beer I suppose, but be prepared for weed smoke drifting in and dirty silverware.

Stopped in for a late lunch and was extremely happy to have a couple vegetarian options. Opted for the tofu Banh Mi sandwich and chose the Mac and cheese. Both were phenomenal. The beer was great as well!

Arkose Brewing was a brewery Steve got to try when we were visiting Alaska last year. We shared the Mandarina Moose Grapefruit IPA which was pretty good. Perhaps not the best grapefruit IPA I have stumbled across but not bad. The cirtus notes and malty flavor made it enjoyable enough. If I ever do get to try beer from this brewery again I think I'd like to try a stout or a porter and get a take of this brewery's version of those beer styles.

When he showed me an academic journal for brewers, I was ready to totally geek out. This, of course, was after I had tried a sampler with 6 of their beers. COOLEST THING: Every Thursday they do a small batch release. When I was there it was a Coconut Cranberry Macaroon Porter. And it was DELICIOUS. You ever hear people say "this is a beer for the non-beer drinkers?" Well, this is the place to go for them. The red and the stout were smooth and sweet. The Snarly was hoppy IPA but without the heavy bitterness in the back end. Above the taps the customer will find the beers on tap broken down by style. When I was there, they had light/Belgian, malty/dark, IPAS, and Barleywines. The space is clean and crisp. Lots of art and color, too. There is merchandise on sale and beer in both bottles and growlers to go. HIGHLY recommend Arkose.

Yes, I got wings at a wood fire pizza place - and boy, am I glad I did. We did the garlic Parmesan and the sweet heat wings. I don't know what magic they do to get the skin so crispy and bubbly, but I'm happy they figured it out! It's like popcorn, so light and airy. And even sauced, the crispy texture didn't end! We told him that we just wanted good food with a chill, laid-back vibe where we could just eat and hang without being pressured to leave quickly. We stopped by and it was busy. Parking is right in the front and lots of spaces available. There was indoor and outdoor tables and luckily we found a booth. The menu is simple and straight forward. You place your order first and then take a seat. My friend and I decided to share a pizza, we couldn't decide and we got half and half, Pear bacon bleu and Greek. I also ordered a ginger ale. So I don't know why my friend decided to share a pizza with me, maybe we were both tired, or she was sooo hungry that she couldn't make any other choice but it was surprising because pizza is not really her thing. When we were ordering, I didn't think anything of it, but as we were eating and basically almost done she said, "You know what, I would come back and have their pizza, that was the best pizza ever!!" No argument from me...both half of the pizzas were so good. It was the right combo. The pear bacon bleu was almost like a dessert pizza but still very savory with the bacon bits. We were both hungry and the pizza size was perfect and filled us both. I never did ask, but do they make their own ginger ale? It didn't taste like any other of the Ginger ales that I've had in other places. This was flavorful and very carbonated. The whole meal was perfect! Wood fired pizzas are something special since not a lot of places make pizzas this way but even better when done right. I highly recommend this place!
