Saw blaze workers at my neighbors house in Avalon yesterday and they were drinking on the job, dropped a tree limb in my yard and one of the crew members was belligerent and nasty. I've never used them and never will after this experience. So unprofessional to be drinking on the job where they can hurt someone else or hurt themselves. One of the guys was yelling obscenities and they were all laughing about it. The owner should be embarrassed of this behavior. read more

I need to start this review with some context. This is the third tree service I've worked with. The first two did a terrible job and cheated me, so I was nervous about hiring another but they were recommended by a friend. I'm glad I went with Blaze. The booking and estimate process were quick and painless as the owner is extremely responsive to emails. I was amazed that one part of the estimate was the same price another service charged ten years ago, so if you account for a decade of inflation that makes their prices pretty fair. They were also very flexible with scheduling and I didn't have to miss work. This is a small business (vs a big corporate one) but they aren't a two-bit operation. On the day of the job they brought about four or five trucks to this job with about half a dozen workers, and they had top of the line equipment (including one of those cool stabilized crane trucks!). This was not going to be an easy job - there was no convenient access to two thirds of the area they needed to work on and it was between two houses. Nothing got in their way and they managed to get it all done without any trouble or extra charge. What stood out about the work? It was a bunch of little things. 1) The estimate guy wasn't pushy at all and was very attentive. He knows his trees and was pointing out the differences between some of the oaks in my yard. Don't know if he's an arborist but he definitely knows his trees. 2) They arrived early for the work and the foreman let me know when they'd be leaving for lunch so I didn't think they were skipping out on an incomplete job. 3) They were extremely respectful of my property and my neighbor's property: careful where they parked, extreme care in roping down branches, cleaning as they went. They cleared some brush in the way and trimmed back a tree that was encroaching on my roof that wasn't technically part of the job but was inconveniencing them (after asking me if it was ok, of course). 4) They cleaned off my entire roof - all of it - even though only a small portion of it was in the area they were working. Speaking of cleaning, they cleaned *before* they went to lunch so that the yard wouldn't look like a mess during their lunch break. Who does that, right? 5) Payment was a breeze since they use an Intuit e-commerce system. Everyone I dealt with was very professional and polite. Highly recommend. read more

After three estimates from other tree companies, I ultimately decided on Blaze. They were the only company to actually come out to my home in a timely manner and give me an honest and fair quote. I was having six palm trees removed and one oak tree trimmed. They were also going to grind all of the palm tree stumps down below the soil. They arrived on the agreed upon day, in the time promised. They made quick work of all trees and were done within 2 hours after arriving. I was told the stump grinder would arrive 1-3 days after they removed the trees, but he ended up coming out later the same day and quickly and completely removed all stumps. Absolutely fantastic. Blaze has done two jobs for me. The first was about a year and a half ago removing a large stump. Only small complaint on that job was a bit of wood chips remained but nothing a 15 min sweep didn't fix. They were professional and on time. The second job was only a few weeks ago trimming some trees. They talked me through exactly what they would be doing by thinning them out without removing a lot of the branches making sure not to stunt any growth or make it lopsided. One palm wasn't accounted for but they came right back out and finished it quickly. They cleaned up after themselves nicely and our trees look spectacular. I had three Palms that needed some serious cleaning. I sent out a request using yelp (which is a great tool) and received several responses but Blaze Tree Service was one of the few that responded with a quote and time they can perform the service. The others were either too busy, out of business, or just dead beats. They came out with a crew of 5 and trimmed all three palms in less then 45 min and did a great job cleaning up and hauled away everything. So in my book they did a great job, good price and good crew. The only thing to be aware of are the seed pods falling from the palms. They did remove my flower pots but let the seed pods fall on my plants and smashed them. They did tell me that they use buckets to catch the pods but they didn't. The plants were not a big deal to me anyway so I'm good with it, but if you have flowers underneath the palms just be aware of that and make sure they are protected. Overall I give them five stars cause of the good work, nice crew and responsiveness. I will definitely use them again. read more

They did an excellent job protecting all my other plants and trees as they cut down two large palms in front of my house - being very strategic in their planning. 1st and foremost Blaze is amazing. They cut down 3 of my 25ft oak trees in less than 3 hours. I hired Tree Monkeys to do the job originally but they took an entire day to cut 3 limbs off one of the trees and didnt show up after that. Blaze came and completed the job within a week of hiring them and again it only took them 2.5 hours! This is the company to hire if you want your trees trimmed or cut down. This oak had a lot of saplings and a few high branches that needed to be trimmed away from the home and driveway and as usual they did an excellent job. I had Blaze out to trim large oak trees in the middle of my yard early last year. I asked them to take more off when they were done and was told "no". I was worried about one big branch growing back into my house, and I told them so. I wanted it trimmed back further or removed. Well a little over a year later that branch is now hitting the house. And both trees look like they need major trimming again already. I feel like I paid Blaze a lot of money to have to re-do this so soon. For my first quote, by an arborist, I was told the trees need a lot of work/trimming. That it is going to be a big job. And the branch I was worried about needs to be removed. The arborist said a lot could and should be taken off, and agreed it shouldn't have needed to be done again this soon. read more
