I am fortunate to say that of all those contractors, I can count the number whose work was deficient on one hand. Of those with items of concern, ALL have been willing to talk and work through the issues. This company was sadly the ONLY exception I've ever dealt with and a grave disappointment. After seeing photos of the work (I live out of state), and having the work evaluated by a number of others in person, all of whom agreed the work was laughable at best (far less material than promised, and "sod" that looked to be nothing more than scraps of grass gathered from previous project), I reached out to the owner to have a conversation and hopefully work through the issue. The owner was not only unwilling to listen and discuss my concerns but resorted to what seemed to me to be threats and intimidation as his means of dealing with the issue. I had never dealt with this and needless to say I was shocked and saddened by his approach. The owner wanted to brag about his 30 years of experience (He later added another 10 years, I assume to sound more convincing), without seeming to understand that QUANTITY matters nothing, when QUALITY is completely missing. I would advise staying away from this company. Should you hire them, I'd strongly recommend being present when the work is being done to assure the materials and quality of work are both what was promised.

Jeff came out promptly, gave me a fair estimate, and two days later arrived with his crew, cranes, specialized equipment and protective pads to get the job done without disturbing my landscaping, septic tank/ field or the 30' bamboo the dead tree was growing out of. While working, they spotted another lightning-struck tree I hadn't noticed, right by my bedroom, and removed it as well -- possibly preventing a serious accident. By the time they were done, it looked like the trees had simply vanished, with no mess left behind. Professional, careful, and trustworthy -- I never bother getting other estimates. Duval and Sons are the only tree service I'll ever call!

We hired Tree Pros + Odds & Ends for both tree work and landscaping. The tree work was completed to…read moreour satisfaction, but the landscaping portion has been a very disappointing experience. During our initial meeting with Jennifer, we explained that we wanted 4‑inch river rock borders installed in front of the house, along both sides of the sidewalk, and along the driveway. She told us her company does landscaping "all the time" and confirmed that weed barrier would be placed under all of the rock. She estimated we would need 6-7 yards of rock, a roll of weed barrier, and 10 bags of sand. Based on that conversation, we hired them. When about half of the rock had been installed, we noticed it was not the 4‑inch river rock we requested. Instead, it was a gray rock ranging from 1 to 4 inches in length. When we asked about it, Jennifer told us they "couldn't find river rock" and purchased the gray rock instead. This was never communicated before installation. Although the gray rock looks fine, it is not what we asked for. We also asked about the price difference and were told river rock was $315 per yard and the gray rock was $305 per yard. We requested the invoice for the rock but never received it. We were charged for river rock, yet a cheaper product was installed. Once the job was completed, we did a walkthrough at night using flashlights, and everything appeared acceptable. The next day in daylight, we immediately noticed multiple areas with no weed barrier at all. When I asked about it, I was told weed barrier wasn't used in certain spots because "water would stand still and not drain properly." This was never mentioned during the consultation, and it doesn't make sense given that my driveway slopes downward toward the street. Along the sidewalk, you can clearly see where the weed barrier ends, and there was none installed around the front tree, even though we asked for the rock to extend farther out. Having owned a landscaping company in Colorado, I can say confidently that weed barrier should be installed under all rock and mulch, and we never had drainage issues from doing so. I contacted Jennifer and asked for the job to be completed correctly. She scheduled her crew for Thursday or Friday of last week. They never showed, and we received no courtesy call or text. She then said she would "squeeze us in" on Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Today is Tuesday, and again, no crew, no text, and no courtesy call. What troubles me most is that we paid in full, and paid for river rock and a cheaper prodcuct was delivered. The job remains incomplete and communication has been extremely poor. Grass is already growing through the rock in some areas where weed barrier was never installed. I had to pull that out so it doesn't look bad. It's disappointing to leave this review, but based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company for landscaping work.

I have used this company before, so they were my go to company when my 30' Norfolk Pine died over…read morethe winter this year. From the first phone call to the tree removal was less than 5 days! My home is a rental property and Dave remembered me from the previous work he did. He really looked after my interests and sent me photos from the initial walk, right through the day of work. Dave came out within about 2 hours of my first phone call on Monday, sent me pics of all everything I needed done. I needed the Pine removed, and my other trees trimmed as the limbs were all growing onto the roof. I received photos along the way, the team is professional, they use professional equipment, and sent me the document I needed for the HOA to take the tree down as an emergency. As they have arborist's on staff the letter is acceptable to the state for the emergency removal requirements. Dave and his crew are really great, really friendly! Office is great as well.
