Taste ok, the topping selection is definitely smaller compared to Mods Pizza. The crust/dough was the highlight of the pizza. Had a good fluffy yet crispness to it. But I wish they would've left it in a little longer. Felt like it was a tad rushed. Got a bad vibe from employees though. Did not feel welcomed, in fact kind of felt unwanted. Was instantly annoyed on the service aspect. At one point I simply asked the person serving me if there was still basil and the girl next to him immediately snapped and said "no!" And when the pizza came out I told the person I wanted a bbq drizzle and it was almost as if it was an inconvenient request. At least he smiled when giving me the box). We make and give away about 200 or more pizzas a year, fresh-made from scratch at home from an old family recipe. We even get pizza out to eat when we're preparing for a big cooking event. Needless to say...we love pizza. We don't even mind paying more for a good product. We really enjoy Blaze. The vegetables are always fresh and the crust finishes crisp in their gas-fired deep oven. The Italian sausage has an extra burst of fennel that adds to the aroma and taste. The fresh herbs sprinkled as a finish heighten the flavor. I love to top mine with fresh arugula to remind me of the 22 different pizzas we tasted in Italy on our 12-day trip. It's a surprising product for a relatively inexpensive cost. The toppings were typical. The vibe was casual. I did wonder if the employees are actually instructed to be tight fisted with the toppings. I wish she gave me a bit more spinach and meat toppings, felt like she was being a little stingy. I actually cocked my head when she sprinkled 6 jalapeños on a 10-inch pizza. I wish I had the option of a smaller pizza so I could get more bang per bite instead of having to manually pluck up toppings and move them to the slices I actually intended on eating. By the end I was just kinda disgusted, my fingers were all messy and my pizza looked maimed. The flavor profile wasn't anything to write home about either. I just wasn't impressed. I initially had a tough time finding the place, my GPS was acting up and I am not familiar with the area. Once I did find it, everything was fine. I'd spent some time perusing their website so I knew what I wanted to order (White Top pizza with balsamic glaze). As others have said, it's a lot like Chipotle in that you add (or subtract) whatever you'd like on your pizza. It bake in less than 10 minutes and has an attractively cooked crust. With a staff count of seven and placing the order two hours in advance to pick up for curbside I still had to wait 32 minutes after pick up time to get our pizza. Toppings are fresh and tasty, but could definitely be more generous. Drinks are also fun, as they always have two agua frescas in addition to the soda machine. Service could be better, as the staff always look tired and ready to be done with the day; never rude, but also never happy. Dining area is very clean. I ordered a gluten free crust for my pizza. It was in the form of dough that they rolled out (unlike Mod Pizza which is preformed). The crust was actually very good. Super thin and crispy around the edges. It's a little bit chewy in the center. The gluten-free crust is $3 extra. A bit pricey I think! The toppings I chose were all tasty: mozzarella cheese, goat cheese, Italian sausage, artichokes, and some veggies. They are very careful about how they lay out the ingredients on the pizza. I liked that. Some of their competitors throw everything in the center and the edges are bare. I also liked that they have half boxes for leftovers. I was super excited when this Blaze Pizza opened in my area. My father frequents the Sugar Land location, so I figured it must be great! Boy, were my expectations exceeded! Same premise--sort of a Subway for pizza. Except the pizza here is not good. The first time we came here, the crust was burned black, and they did not seem to want to put more than a minimal amount of toppings on the pizza. Second chance visit a couple of days later--same thing, even worse. A pinch of cheese, a pinch of chicken. Even the sauce was applied as if it was made of gold. The "pizza artists"? acted as if they were bothered to have to prepare the pizza. I requested more chicken on the pizza and was practically glared into submission by the young gentleman behind the counter. And again, the crust was BURNED on one of our pizzas. We went to Blaze Pizza. When you walk into the restaurant, the counter is right there. So if there is a lunch line, it can be extremely claustrophobic with people packed in tightly. They were busy and we felt severely rushed. My boyfriend's pizza resembled a smaller version of Papa John's (isn't this supposed to be a gourmet handcrafted pizza place?) with very sparse toppings. The manager and the employees tend to yell over the food a lot. As a theatre major and former restaurant manager I know you have to project your voice for orders but you can do it in a way that isnt unsettling and within close ear range of 25 people who are giving you business. I think the employees think this is the most awesome optimized functional productive way of getting people through the line, and its not. Its a major turn off. My boyfriend was wanting a BBQ pizza, but they don't offer BBQ sauce as a main pizza sauce topping, just as a concentrated drizzle. The employee asked him if he would like her to use the BBQ drizzle as his main sauce but given the fact that they don't have it as a main sauce topping choice, he decided against it in case the drizzle was overpowering. They have a severe lack of crust variety. If you want a thicker crust, you'll have to pay $2.00 more (bringing your pizza to $9.00) and some change. I got the original crust with alfredo sauce and it was very soggy. I put mozzarella, salami, basil, and balsamic drizzle on there. I'm a foodie and I get this pizza combination at lot. Every time I'd lift this up to my face, the most unappetizing, unpleasant aroma would waft through the air. I don't know if it was the salami, the cheese or the drizzle but something was off. The positive side of our experience was their blood orange lemonade beverage. It was delicious. But I don't know if I'd go there just for that. In my opinion, this place is overpriced for what you get. I'd rather go to Pie Five where it is $7.49 for any crust and unlimited toppings. Pie Five gives this Blaze place a run for their money. Visited Blaze for the first time yesterday and I love it now!!!! I got the green stripe with the addition of Italian sausage and it was deliiiiiiiicious! I actually went back to get a second one to take home. Got my brother the bbq chicken pizza and he liked it. The chicken is a little bland but with the addition of the other ingredients overall, it's great! The staff is very nice and will try their best to get your order out as quickly as they can (they can get pretty busy). They are also VERY generous with their toppings. Overall, it was a great visit and I will definitely come back again. Staff is friendly, very clean and tidy. I was checked on to make sure I was doing ok. If you had to compare the two I personally would go back to MOD Pizza. This is a convenient place when by the mall. There was more taste in the chicken at MOD then here at Blaze. I will come back here to eat, not by any means saying you shouldn't come here. Like Donna N mentioned in her review, the tea was weak and there was no sweet n low, even after asking the staff. However, there was a telephone number to call or text. I sent a text mentioning that I was a diabetic customer, and there was not any artificial sweetener. The response I received by text stated "We will order on the next days thank you for the comment." That is one way of answering, but not the best. A better thing to say is "We are out right now, however, we will get some from a nearby store, and will order more from our supplier." That way customers have some until the restaurant can get more from their supplier. I would have given this restaurant five stars, had it not been the response from the manager. The restaurant has alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The business was very clean inside and out, the restroom was extremely clean. The staff was very friendly. There are several types of pizzas to choose from, and you can also build your own, for picky eaters like myself. I ordered a simple pie crust, with garlic sauce, mozzarella cheese, chicken, and mushrooms. Drink and iced tea came to $10.28 which is a very good price. I came on a Sunday night and we were the only people in line and it took a few minutes before someone actually greeted us, then had us wait almost 10 minutes minutes for them to actually start building our pizza. Once our pizza was made, I have no idea why it was in the oven for so long compared to MODs or Bella Mia. Maybe the heat is at a lower temperature, I'm not sure. So I thought maybe I'll give them another try. I came on a Sunday for lunch and several people left the store because of the wait and they had frustrated people waiting for their Togo orders they weren't even started. They are partly understaffed and partly have poorly trained unmotivated workers. Currently in line for 25 minutes while writing this review.
