We stopped by on the way back to Houston for dinner because we've always wanted to try out Blaze and it was perfect timing. We're used to MOD Pizza so you'll be hearing me mentioning them in this review. I'm kicking myself for not taking a photo of the menu and prices but Blaze is VERY similar to MOD. Both have industrial but hip vibes. Both make custom pizzas with thin crust being the default (and an option for a thicker crust for an additional cost). Both have homemade lemonades in addition to soda and homey desserts. Both offer vegan cheese and finishing sauces. Both also list their ingredients online which is GREAT. We can't have the pizza sauces at either pizza place. Differences: Blaze has different pricing tiers for a "simple pie" (just cheese and sauce) then cheese and 1 topping and then 2 toppings. The one at the top is build your own and it's around $10.50. They also have a few ingredients that MOD doesn't have like broccoli, roasted red bell peppers, black olives, Kalamata olives, and banana peppers. Only 2 lemonade (regular, blood orange). For some background: my family follows an allium free diet. That is we also do not consume anything with onions, garlic, leeks, chives, and shallots in addition to meat, seafood, insects, etc. In addition to that, my youngest has multiple food allergies (wheat, eggs, peanuts, most tree nuts, avocado, pineapple, kiwi). Blaze got on our radar because our youngest can have their gluten free crust (they have a cauliflower crust but that contains eggs). It's a struggle finding him food he can have but also like, but we're willing to try. I sort of do like their pricing tiers depending on the number of toppings. My husband and I tend to pile things on. My youngest favors a good cheese pie. My eldest likes corn (which is not offered at Blaze) and spinach on hers. It's nice to pay a little less to get less, though the price for the BYO pizzas are a little higher than MOD. It evens out when you calculate the additional cost of the GF crust. Taste! You usually can't go very wrong with pizzas you designed yourself so it's mostly the service, taste, and crust. And my youngest's opinion on the crust. He is very picky with his GF breads. A point to Blaze for having a crust that is slightly chewier than MOD's! He took 5 small bites and picked at the cheese once before calling it finished. I really liked the crisp on the bottom of my pie. The edges aren't doughy and are also crisp. Toppings are, of course, perfection. We LOVED the blood orange lemonade. It was more sweet than tart so more like juice. My youngest guzzled a cup and didn't puke due to the acidity. LOL. The place seemed somewhat clean. I didn't spot anyone wiping down tables but I did go to the bathroom once so maybe I missed it. Our table seemed okay. When I mentioned food allergies, they didn't seem to take any extra precautions. I'm not sure if it's because they don't encounter it much or it was only a cheese pizza so it went straight into the oven. They didn't offer any finishing sauces (not like we could have any). They don't seem as very helpful or friendly? More to the point, though they were great at teamwork to get the pizzas moving when there was a delay (8 pizzas and 1 person became 4 people). Oh. Some points to MOD: I can have their fig balsamic finishing sauce and it takes my pizza to the next solar system. Not that the ones here were bad (the pineapple on mine gave me some moisture), but I love sauce. Also, the staff at MOD (I've been to 3-4 locations) tends to be more knowledgeable about diets and food allergies and try more to connect. Overall: great first experience! We'll keep an eye out for a Blaze closer to us. The only downside is they aren't as convenient as MOD. And no sauces. I'll need to go to more locations to get a better idea. read more

I could've swore I had already written a review for Blaze. I go here so often and like it a lot. First off, the service is stellar. The same 2 ladies are always there and are super warm, inviting and professional. They also keep the place very clean. I love going here bc of their cauliflower crust. I've also tried the keto crust. Other than the size (the keto is 10 in.) I didn't think there was much difference between the cauliflower crust and keto crusts but there's gotta be because the keto crust is downright disgusting. It taste like straight cardboard. The cauliflower however, yummy, thin crunchy goodness to which I'm somewhat addicted. Blaze's pizza toppings are always fresh. I typically do the BYO option. Mmm, their roasted garlic is a must add-on for me. They also have a decent little patio where my dog and I have once dined. They were super friendly to my fur child and had no problem with me having her on the patio. Blaze is my pizza go-to, mainly bc of their delish cauliflower crust, overall great quality and superb service. I also must say they are a zillion times better than Mod. Yep, they are. As much as I love pizza, this experience literally made me not look at pizza the same way again! The vegan cheese was disgusting!!!! I've actually had Blaze's vegan cheese on a pizza before and it was cool. Didn't even miss cow cheese on the pizza, but this visit...I immediately knew something was off. I ended up picking the toppings off to at least have something to eat but even the slightest morsel of the cheese was a hard pass. I was so disappointed about the pizza I was waiting for the email to ask me to do a review. Still haven't heard back from anyone about my experience three days later, so I am definetly not going back to this Blaze location or any others without some intervening and communication on my experience. I decided to Blaze a trail for others on Yelp and try this pizza, although nothing in Greater Houston can beat neaby Space City Pizza. I've never honestly been a big fan of Blaze Pizza, but they're not bad. The people that we had come here with were some of Barbi's family members, and they always said this place was pretty cool, but I lived in New York and it's just... you know. A chain. A decent chain but a chain. Don't get me wrong though, it tastes good, and it's better than some of the build your own pizza places that we've been to, for sure. read more

Food: It's a make your own pizza place so it tastes about as good as the ingredients you choose but nothing better than fresh, hot pizza. There are several drink options including regular lemonade, blood orange lemonade, matcha agua fresca, and berry agua fresca. You pick your crust and then all of your toppings, kinda like Subway or Chipotle. They have a good system. But when I tasted the "pizza" I was really disappointed. I'm better off with frozen pizza. I tried both the thin crust and the Keto crust. Yuck. People: this is not what real pizza tastes like. In addition- the horrible music blasting on was all distorted on their sound system. The Vegan Chorizo just hit the streets, my wife & I were super excited to get the opportunity to try it! Saw this place by accident I've gone to a similar pizza place near the city thought I'd give this place a try. The overall decor of the place is very clean very nice lines. The employees were very nice had smiling faces and greeted everyone. As I say and ate my pizza and watched a television show I watch as one of the employees were very attentive and cleaning off all tables in a timely manner. I tend to like places like this so when I'm out near the Baybrook area I'll be sure and go back. Food is good. Management needs work. Heaven forbid you go in with $100 bill. Supposedly they don't take 100's, after spending $40 plus in food and drink purchases. Katherine; the manager on duty, will tell you to go and get change yourself because they don't accept $100's (even though there's no signs stating no 100's). Then she'll speak behind your back in Spanish (like customers don't know Spanish). Katherine will even question you why you (the customer) have a problem getting change yourself. I really wanted to give this place a higher rating, but in the end this place was just not up to par. The service itself was pretty nice. The staff was attentive and did a very good job explaining the process and helping with what you wanted on your pizza, the toppings themselves were also quite nice, branching into freshness as well as the multitude of topping choices. When they say fast fire'd pizza, they really do mean it. The pizza finished cooking in under five minutes. The size of the pizzas are pretty adequate for one person, but I definitely wouldn't consider share one of the pizzas. So the the concept of the pizza creation and cooking was really a great one. However, the bad parts of this restaurant almost entirely overshadowed the taste of a good pizza. The overall cleanliness of this place downright sucked. Why are there cracks in the cement for me to trip on??? Why is it that every table and chair I go to are sticky? The bathrooms were definitely the absolute worst part about this place. For one thing, it's one of those one person bathrooms. Of course it's even more unclean in the bathrooms. Another thing about the lavatories. There's a lock on the door. I thought it would work. I thought wrong. I played myself. Why is it that when I have to use the restroom EVEN when I lock the door, I get walked in on. It was an experience i'll probably never forget. First and foremost I have been a customer since it first came to friendswood while I was in HS. Always loved it. Had a recent visit and was HIGHLY DISSATISFIED. The GM, Miriam Salgado, was absolutely ugly and had the nastiest attitude. I was treated with such horrible disrespect by her. Came to come order food when they opened and she told me they were "closed" although it advertises everywhere 11 AM is their opening. Continued to ask me "so what do you want?!" The hubby and I tried Blaze tonight and I was pretty impressed.I do have to say that both of us prefer this place to MOD. Both places have nice, fresh and tasty toppings, but the crust here is much better. The dough is freshly pressed while you are there, which helps the crust not to seem old or dry or stale.We both built our own and we are impressed at the amount of each topping placed on the top of our pizzas. The only complaint that I had is that the guy that spoke to us as we got there mumbled and didn't speak up to be heard. It wasn't as if there was a large crowd with a bunch of noise. This place is 10x better than pie five. Pie five uses a conveyor oven, and their crust was too thick. Blaze uses a brick oven which chars the crust better. Don't bother ordering gluten free or cauliflower crust, if in person the staff will throw a fit about having to get it, if you get it to-go they will happily take your $4 and give you regular crust, even after I specified it was an allergy. I've gotten sick too many times and I know places like this have cross contamination but I've never had an issue with mod pizza - I've even had 1 good experience here where I actually received what I paid for, it's just not worth getting sick or having to argue with staff. Not a huge pizza fan, but LOVE being able to customize a pie just for myself! The employees were great, it took no time at all for our pizzas to be done and we really enjoyed them! The total price all in for one of us was about 10 dollars with a drink, but we each had half a pizza left that we took home for another meal, which was a great bonus for me. Asked after 15 minutes of pizza was almost done and was told it was in the oven. 15 minutes after that we asked again (keep in mind there was only one other person in the restaurant) the gentleman behind the counter stated he was calling out our names and put the pizzas in to go boxes. I have been hearing about these build your own pizza fast casual places out there. Finally had the time to stop by Blaze Pizza. I used my ATT Thanks coupon for a 1 topping . I had the meatball and my daughter had the pepperoni. They were both very good in flavor and filling as well. There was a selection of Pizzas with specific ingredients that were considered signature. I didn't see a flavor combination that stood out. I just don't see the value in getting one of these at regular price when other chains are selling a large pizza for less. I might come here again in the future if I needed a quick bite to eat and short on time but won't make a specific visit here. read more

Walked in about 5 minutes early before my pizza was supposed to be finished. Literally heard the employees talk about how they had forgot to start making my dough knots. My pizza obviously comes out first and as he's trying to plate the pizza in the box he drops it making the topping to all go to one side of the pizza. Pizza was literally horrible quality.
