We love Mod Pizza so decided to give Blaze a try before going to the movies. The concept is the same: personal sized pizzas made to order. The experience couldn't be more different. Pros: the menu is simple. The food comes quickly. The price is reasonable for a family of 4. The pizza is good. Not great but good. I love the choice of foundation drinks. The orange/mango was excellent. Cons: the employees are awful. Seriously, if you put your business in the sole hands of teenagers, you get what you deserve. The guy who cut the pizza might have been doing it for the first time because he mangled it with a bunch of uneventful lopsided slices. One of which was the size of a thumb. Really bruh? The girl taking the orders barely spoke. I asked the guy behind the counter for extra plates and he handed me two pizza pans, one of which was dirty. Laurel, Maryland, in my opinion, is not a place known for classic diners or restaurants. Yet, whenever any family or friends visited from out of town, I would always recommend this place first - small, cozy, and definitely worth it. Blaze Pizza may not be the best pie of pizza that I've ever tasted, but the overall package, when considering the price and sizable portions, pushes blaze pizza into my top 15 pizza joints. I understand that I'm young and may not have visited the iconic pizza restaurants in New York, Chicago, Italy, etc. Yet, it's hard to believe that there are better overall "packages" than what blaze pizza has to offer. It doesn't hurt when my little picky siblings and cousins love it also. For less than $10, one can purchase a hearty pizza with as many toppings as they'd wish. This restaurant is always clean whenever I visit and the crew members/employees are always patient while I mull over which toppings I choose. My personal favorite is a build your own pizza with red sauce as a base, pesto sauce on the crust, and shredded mozzarella cheese. I then add fresh mozzarella cheese (because where else do you get to add fresh mozzarella cheese without breaking the bank?), chicken, cherry tomatoes, pineapples, mushrooms, garlic, and oregano. AFTER baking the pizza, I always ask to top off my embellished pizza with pesto sauce which complements one's pizza more than expected. So, in conclusion, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the patient crew members, the price of the meal, and the above-average taste of the pizza pie elevate my rating to 4-4.5 stars. UPDATE: husband and I went here to the location last weekend. Whoever worked on May 11th during the day was wonderful. It was 2 men working the supervisors (I asked the cashier ) the girl working the stove was nice when we requested the pizza be well done and the drizzle request was taken when the girl cut our pizza. I asked if it was all new staffing but it appears that is the day shift before the night shift changed. Anyways much better experience. I decided to stop at this place a few nights ago since there was heavy volume outside of the building. The restaurant is positioned perfectly right in front of regal cinemas in Laurel,Maryland. I have had Mod pizza before, along with other fast flash pizza places. I was excited and was hoping to get pizza that was equivalent to the other places that I tried. Maybe it was the time of day that I visited this restaurant, But I was very upset to find that they had ran out of certain toppings. Also the staff didn't seem to be thrilled at the job that they had chosen. Other pizza places, the staff treats the creation of their products as if it was a masterpiece. The staff here was quite the opposite. Some of my toppings did not get fully cooked all of the way. So therefore when I bit into certain parts of the pizza, the toppings were cool or lukewarm. I was about to reheat the pizza once I arrived home, but I truly wasn't even in the mood to finish the pizza. Great pizza. I love their s'mores and if you haven't tried the cheese bread, you're missing out. It's the best thing on the menu. Their salads are all over priced, but I'm in love with the Cesar dressing. I don't generally enjoy Cesar dressing normally, but I can't get enough of it here. The pizza is a good price, even though the price jumped twice already. As long as it doesn't jump again, I'd recommend this place to anyone. A word of advice, I keep making the mistake of loading my pizza with toppings. I always order the thick crust, but even so it tends to ruin the pie. So my advice to you us, less is more. read more

The 411: this is a fast growing chain that embodies the fast casual dining experience reminiscent of chipotle and shophouse. Food is better than expected, but steep prices keep me from rewarding 5 stars. This particular location can get really crowded during the rush hours. On top of that, an extra 8-10 minutes are needed to cook your pizza. Keep in mind if you're in a hurry. The crust: I had the original crust upon my initial visit. The edge was crispy and yet tender. A little on the bland side, but the texture is great! The sauce: I had the original red, which was surprisingly delicious in my opinion! Bright, red tomato sauce that isn't too sweet. Their version of sauce is right up my alley! Tip: the also have white sauce, pesto and other options! The cheese: I "built my own" pizza at blaze with the ball mozzarella and some ricotta. Great flavor and tasted fresh! Tip: they have many cheeses, including feta and the like The toppings: I got pepperoni, fresh tomatoes, minced garlic and basil on my pizza. It was a great combo! Tip: they have plenty of meat and non meat options...ham, meatballs, sausage, pineapple, mushroom, spinach, peppers and onions, two types of garlic, almost any topping you could think of...they got it! The gripe: honestly, you get what you pay for, but the price tag for an 8 inch pizza is a little bit above what many would be willing to pay. A build your own style pizza starts at $8.50 or so. Fair, but ultimately not competitive to other cheaper pizza chains. Tip: a plain cheese pizza is much cheaper at $6.50 Bottom line: if you're willing to wait ~10-15 mins for your food and to pay a little bit more, you'll get a very decent, personal style pie. The employees are always kind and approach you with a smile. But, I think the best part of this place is how they fire up your pizza in the little hearth oven. You can barely hear them trying to talk to you and then since so many pizza shops are coming up with different ways to order, there's no way of knowing the menu options right away unless you're in folks way at the ordering post. The management should post a tall, wall menu opposite of where the line forms so new guests know what they have to offer. I do recommend this spot to everyone despite the shortcomings. read more

I found Blaze Pizza because of a Yelp Elite event, I'll return to Blaze Pizza because of all they do right. The team of employees at BP is exceptional at what they do. From their managers Tonya and Tiffani down to the cashiers and cooks the customer service was exceptional. Each and every employee that I interacted with was friendly, courteous and helpful. My first experience was memorable because of this team. Having lots of options available for your custom pie can be daunting when trying to create your perfect pizza. Even more so when you have at least ten others are in line behind you. No worries!! Listen to the recommendations of the fine line chefs and your thin crust spicy marinara sauce, turkey meatball, roasted red pepper, olive, tomato, and shredded mozzarella is in the Blazing hot oven in no time. You simply then just have to hang tight or hang loose for seven minutes or so and listen for your name to be called. Voila!! There it is, goodness that you helped create. Your baby, eight to nine hundred calories just the way you like them tonight. Through all of the networking and Yelp socializing I enjoyed my pie. The ingredients were all tasty and fresh and held up to the stop and go eating of my evening. Footnote, I saved half for the next day's breakfast and that held up just as well. The final piece of this puzzle is the dining area or facility itself. I found all aspect of BP to be clean and well maintained. Often enough, workers came out to clean between or mess insuring that we had enough napkins and inquiring as to how they could help. That's pretty unique for a semi-fast food restaurant. Plenty of seating and various sized tables also make BP more than accommodating. All that's left to say is thanks for a job well done BP and the kids and I will see you again real soon. Hmmm, Maybe I'll try a gluten-free crust, white sauce, salami, red onion, ham, spinach, mushroom, parmesan with that olive oil drizzle. I was in the area the other night and decided to try Blaze Pizza due to the good Yelp rating. I ordered a white top pizza and asked to substitute mushrooms for the arugula. The pizza came out of the oven about 10 minutes later and smelled delicious. The crust was super super thin and there was a generous amount of bacon and mushrooms on the pizza. The flavor of the sauce was not very powerful and I couldn't taste the garlic. Overall I wish the pizza had tasted as good as it smelled. Visited Blaze Pizza on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30. To my surprised it wasn't very packed when we got there (it got busy shortly after). There were a few hiccups while placing my order that kinda of stood out. I was there with someone and when we started at the beginning of the line (let me also point out that before I told her my name the first thing she asked me was "is this your first time here?" I told her yes and the ordering begin....) they took my name and put it on both pizzas. While this may seem like something small it can cause a big confusion when going down the "toppings" line because they immediately looked at me for me to tell them what I wanted on both pizzas and this was clearly not the case. For instance, I wanted classic red sauce and he wanted classic spicy red sauce. After she was done putting sauce on mine she immediately starting putting the same sauce on his pizza and by the time he got the words out of his mouth for her to stop she had already started to spread the sauce. Now the right thing to do here would've been to start over (especially if the dough is right beside you and ready to go but I digress) but we decided to keep it moving. Her response wasn't one of "oh oops my bad, let me start over" it was more of a "oh, you didn't want classic? Oh...ok...well". Even though she had asked EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL PERSON before us what they wanted on there pizza it didn't dawn on her to do that for us because MY NAME WAS ON BOTH PIZZAS. Remember what I just said about the importance of that? Well, this is a perfect example. This place reminds me of Chipotle' but for Pizza. You choose if you want white or wheat dough, classic or spicy red sauce or white sauce, and on to the meat and veggie toppings. You can build your own pizza or choose one that they designed. I choose to build my own pizza. White dough, classic red sauce, mozzarella and goat cheese, pepperoni, salami, Italian sausage, roasted garlic, basil, spinach and caramelized onions. All of the crust is the same which is thin. Thin crust isn't my go to crust but I step out of my comfort zone sometime. Glad I did because I enjoyed it! At the end of the "toppings" line there are finishing's like roasted garlic, spinach, etc. For some odd reason when she got to those toppings she stopped working on my pizza and begin working on our 2nd pizza and once done she was getting ready to move it directly to the oven. WHAT?! WAIT?! I had to stop her and say "am I supposed to add these toppings after it comes out of the oven or something? WHY WOULD I HAVE TO ASK THAT?!? SMH! Again, this is my first time here, I'm sure you ALL heard me say that and this is the type of experience you want to give me? SMH Ok...moving on. She told me "No, I thought you were done." As for me; I'm still not sure why she thought that when she was the one that had stopped making my pizza LOL I thought she was just doing both pizzas so that they could go in the oven at the same time. Anyway, I added my last few toppings and off to the oven my pizza goes. The restaurant had a power surge while I was waiting to pay for my pizza Oh AND while my pizza was sitting in the oven. The first thing that came to mind was 1) I'm glad you weren't swiping my card when that power surge happened because that would've possibly been something else I'd be worrying about and 2) Um, is this going to affect how my pizza taste? I'm just saying! LOL After waiting about 10 - 15 min everything was back up and running. Some girl that looked like she came straight from the club to work (I don't think she was officially on duty at that time) LOL Ripped...oh wait no, I mean jeans with holes (honey chile those were NOT rips) had to go behind the counter and start the oven for the Shift Leader because he couldn't figure it out. He had started telling someone to go to the store and by him one of those big lighters so he could light the oven manually. LOL This was an interesting experience to say the least!! LOL Paid for my pizza, took a seat, waited about another 10 min went back up to the counter like ok where is my pizza because I can see that it's ready and just needs to be cut and given to me. He notices me standing there, cuts my pizza and gives it to me. Overall, after the pizza mix ups in the line, power surge, waiting a little longer than expected even after things were up and running, the pizza was just ok to me. Nothing worth me making a special trip to Laurel for. Now if I am in the area and want pizza, I wouldn't mind stopping. One more thing, eat all of your pizza in one setting. My pizza was pretty good when it was hot but once it got cold it started to taste like a store bought pizza out of the microwave. OH and get the Blood Orange Lemonade, it is delicious!!! 2 stars because I feel like they still have some work to do here! read more

This is one of the best run pizza establishments I've ever been to, and every last bit of thanks should be sent to the manager Artley Simon. If you looked up the definition of compassionate, a picture of Art should be front and center. Man what a fantastic person to have running this place. The pizza is phenomenal, the atmosphere is fun and cleanly, and you really can't ask for a friendlier face behind the counter than Art. I've worked in Laurel for 2 years now, and every Friday myself and at least 3-6 of my coworkers come into this place and always leave more than satisfied. After a bad visit a month ago I went to Blaze today not expecting much. I thought the last time I went would be the last time. I ordered a gluten free crust as I always had. But this time I literally spent 15 minutes waiting in line for a server to finish making the crust. After complaining I was told making a gluten free crust was a "process." It was so bad my pizza tasted like it was made with crackers. My experience was much better this time. A young man named Prince took my order for a pizza with a gluten free crust. He was very attentive and professional. when I told him about the "process" to make the crust he told me he would make it himself and make sure it was right. I was very impressed with him, I hope he's promoted quickly because Prince will not be serving pizza very long. He deserves recognition for being stellar young man who just happens to make pizza. read more

I come here often to eat dinner now that I've become a vegetarian. Yep that's right no longer eating meat! This is like the Chipotle of pizza. It is the best pizza around hands down. It's fired up Perfect Two taste and they have every topping imaginable. Get the red bloody drink. it's the best one. The lines are never long and when they are it's only like 6 or 7 people and the line moves real fast. They always have six or seven staff members on site working at all times. National Pi Day (3.14) was my first time at this location ($3.14 pizza deal) and the staff that was working had a good attitude and they were still friendly and efficient! There was a few times I had to repeat myself over the glass because of all the noise and (I'm shorter than the glass -- ha!), but I didn't care. The team really did work at a good pace. From the line outside (we started about 5 feet from the door) to the time they called my name for my food it was 30 minutes (8pm-8:30pm)! My husband was hungry, and usually that meant he needed to eat right there and then. But we actually waited and ate at the restaurant-- and it was WORTH IT. It's best to eat right there fresh and hot! And the deal was great! We could only buy one per person (you had to be present) to get the deal-- we ended up with two and still less than the price of one. A whole pie is usually pretty good for us, sometimes I have slices over. If your basic about your pizza, you prob won't like Blaze. This place is only for people who like a little more than the basic pepperoni. Blaze's pizza sauce options are tasty (I like the spicy red sauce), they have many different flavors of cheese, different meat and veggie toppings too. They also have gluten free dough! Once they pop it in the fire for 3 minutes, they call your name and ask if you want olive oil, pesto, bbq sauce drizzled or arugula tossed on top to finish off your pizza! I'm really not that into pizza-- I find them eh and not much of actual taste. I like my pizza thin crust with lots of flavor. However, I ate Blaze pizzas 3 times on a 4 day span this past weekend!
