Choose the type of pizza you want (crust, size, ...), and then choose your toppings at the main counter. I had a regular MOD pizza (thin crust) with a lot of beef. My wife had a MOD pizza with ... a lot of vegetables or something. We only saw two people working there: one at the counter and one cooking. They were really polite. Was nice and quiet for a Sunday lunch. Total tab for us both was way less than $30, which is outrageously cheap these days. We'll definitely be back. read more

This was THE WORST visit to mod pizza I have ever had. It even ruined my whole day. I went up to the pizza making thing to order and most of the ingredients were not even laid out (I know it was a slow day because of the snow, but still). Thats not even the worst part because the employee (a black male-- this is just for a visual description-- with dreads) was asking me for the sauces I wanted and I said "Alfredo, red sauce, and pesto" He did not tell me he couldn't do it. Instead he whispered "the f**k?" under his breath while laughing in a mocking way at me. I felt embarrassed and mocked as I didn't know asking for the three sauces that are offered was something to warrant such a reaction. Thankfully his coworker told me they could put sauces on the pizza at the end. Throughout the whole order and several others, this employee (the black guy) kept sighing very audibly for all to hear like he couldn't be bothered to make my meal. I don't know how someone could act like this and have such an attitude when he is literally getting paid for this. This guy's body language in general just pissed me off and to be honest I felt like beating the shyt out of him. It was probably a slow day at mod pizza and this guy probably wanted to leave because there wasn't much to do there, but THAT is NOT an excuse. Even if there was only a few customers that day, they should be treated with respect and humility. So to whoever owns this place, please fire this guy so he doesn't harm anymore customers or put him back in customer service training. We ate at MOD Pizza before going to a show at Merriweather. It's very convenient to the amphitheater. The young men behind the counter were very friendly and polite. The fact that you can put any toppings you want on your pizza is a plus. However, I found the finished product just so-so. I was super excited to go to MOD pizza because I haven't been in so long. However, I was disappointment. Let me start off by saying the food was not bad at all, but I am a firm believer that ambiance and environment can have an effect on how much I enjoy my food. Once my pizza made it into the oven and after five minutes of patently waiting he informed them that he understands the online orders however, we are together and we don't want our pizzas coming out 10-15 minutes apart from each other. I would think that's common sense, right? In addition to the pizzas, I got a regular drink. The area for the drinks was nasty and not well kept. Also, some of the fresh drink tubs were empty and/or very low. There were also no more caps for the cups. I would've thought that the young lady who refilled the tops would've also taken the initiative to wipe up the mess but nope! She only refilled the tops and kept it moving. It was hard to find a table that was not dirty. I also would've thought that since folks are actually trying to dine in, someone would've swept and wiped down the tables but again, nope! The trash cans were also kinda full with pizza boxes. Lastly, the bathrooms! Also not well kept! Only 1/2 stalls had toilet paper and very little at that. There was toilet paper on the floor and the trash can was full. If the dining room and bathrooms that customers can see looks like this, I wonder what the kitchen looks like where I CAN'T see. I order a traditional crust with a mix of traditional and spicy red sauce topped with mozzarella and parmesean cheese, pepperoni, spicy chicken sausage, regular itialian sausage, bacon bits, green peppers, and mild red bell peppers. My pizza prep time in the oven was less than 10 minutes. The interior of the restaurant had an an industrial feel with metal chairs, long wooden slab tables, and an accent wall with a picture collage of various folks. They offer two sizes, the mini (6" kid-sized crust) or 11" crust (original or thick).There is also an option for gluten-friendly or cauliflower crust. You can choose one of the MOD Classic or create your own with 30+ toppings. They also have salads. My husband and I both chose 11" original crust and customized ours. My toppings included Canadian bacon, salami, pepperoni, green bell pepper, minced garlic, onions, mushrooms, and cauliflower. We both would have preferred a different sauce and I would've wanted more cheese on mine. I tasted more sauce than cheese. I also didn't know there was an option for a thicker crust otherwise I would have gotten it. The pizza only took five minutes to cook. It was super fast. First time at this location and couldn't have came at a better time. For a Saturday evening the place was fairly empty. Was able to walk right in and go right to ordering my food. I was visiting some family that lives in the apartments above MOD. Having never tried it I decided to place an order on my phone and take the elevator down to the restaurant. I opted for the Create-Your-Own pizza and went with something basic. I chose traditional sauce, beef, and garlic. Usually I tend to avoid tons of toppings when trying a pizza place out for the first time. When I arrived there were three employees behind the counter. I noticed they had a section for online pickup orders so I went and stood over there. The guy behind the counter refused to look up the entire time. He just continued making and boxing pizzas without ever acknowledging my existence. Finally I just shouted out to him that I was here for a pickup. Again, without looking up he just points to a baker's rack and tells me all the online pizzas are there. I check and there's nothing but instead of letting me explain that to him he just continues on his way. About five minutes pass and I see them creating my pizza down the assembly line. I noticed that the two women making the pizzas were wearing gloves but the same guy, the one who puts the pizzas in the oven and boxes them doesn't wear any gloves. He's just using his barehands on everything. I reluctantly convince myself to eat the center of the pizza since he really only handled the crust and the pizza fell flat for me. I honestly didn't expect it to taste good after seeing how little the employees care about working there. Hello World, I hope you get a better pizza than I did from Mod today! Mod Pizza is a build-it-your-way pizza type of place. I enjoy these pizza shops because my choice is what matters. I was lucky to have a lady so pleasant with applying my pizza toppings. There was no attitude when I asked for more sauce. Instead, with a smile, she added more sauce and pepperoni. Once she passed my pizza on to the next person, I felt in my heart that the decline was coming. The next gentleman rushed the process; the lady at the oven made the "wrong" pizza; well done. As a result, my pizza came out looking sad and uncooked. The day started great with excellent customer service and a smile but became a painful, uncooked experience. The offer to cook my pizza properly came thirty-five minutes too late. A thin-crust pizza should have at least a little crunch to it. Unfortunately, this pizza was a harsh reminder that some short-order cooks care little about your request and more about filling an order. read more

This was me and my Husband first time here. This was a different concept of ordering Pizza than we are used too. So we played it safe and ordered from their Top 10 Pizza Classic Menu. I got the Margarita but added Mild Italian Sausage to it, my Husband got the Tristian Classic thin crust. They come in 6 or 11 inch Regular or Thin Crust and you can create your own Pizza combination or you can order their Classic Pizzas and add anything topping to it. It's been a mixed bag since my last review. Sometimes they give you great food. Mostly they're rude, ignore allergies, stare at the teenage girls instead of looking at how long your pizza has been cooking, and the salad is always rotting in the containers. They always ask for tip. However, service is poor. They like to see how much ch tip you give too. They didn't even put cheese on the pizza. We didn't realize till it was dine and by then over it all. They don't ask if you want any sauces at tye end either ie flakes, and no signs anymore. This place really not great and they act surprised. Update-unfortunately I can't raise my level of " stars". It just isn't one of the best MOD locations. Not too bad, but just aiiight! Last night it was so very crowded, as was the entire mall area. But still, I think they can do better even under a little pressure. My pizza maker seemed annoyed to be there on the line. When I asked for extra sauce she put maybe a teaspoon more on with the ladle and spread it around to look like she had really done something. What does it hurt her to do as I ask? Anyway the other assemblers were competent but heavy handed with the green peppers. And they just kept rushing us through. I waited in line to get up here, and I don't want you skimping on my pizza. Pizzas were well cooked, but there was a big backup in the oven so it took twice as long as normal. Not that big of a deal. The drink area wasn't very clean. And I noticed kids returning to the fountain with used cups refilling. Gross. Please get a better system for this MOD. Tables weren't the cleanest. No one wipes them. I've frequented PieFive & Blaze before, because I love the idea of a pizza adventure in which I can choose my own crust, cheese, and toppings! It's a great, fun concept, giving yummy control to the user. However, while most of the work is on me to design my food, I must still rely on the staff to cook it, and there lies the negative experience. I really wanted to like MOD Pizza, however, to execute properly, they need to 1. ensure the crust isn't burnt 2. put the cheese I select on the pizza and 3. ensure all the selected toppings are actually on the pizza. I attempted a Create Your Own: white sauce, ricotta, broccoli, pineapple, spinach, mushroom, chicken, and pepper pizza.....I got an already cold white sauce, pineapple, spinach, mushroom, and chicken pizza. 3 ingredients missing. Not to mention zero seasonings. Picking up the order was also a negative experience, as workers yelled at each other to 'just finish' pies faster, making it awkward to stand there. I was waiting on our pies to be finished, but one co-worker was trying to drag our staff member away...this really explained why most of the order was wrong. Next time I'll take the DIY to heart and opt to make food at home instead of trying MOD. read more

I usually love MOD pizza. However, this location is very inconsistent. Sometimes they are delicious and sometimes your pizza comes out not at all as you ordered. I placed an online order asked for extra sauce as a topping. I asked for 3 additional sauces and all they gave me was a small amount of 1 of the sauces in a container literally smushed onto the top of my pizza. There was also hardly any sauce under the cheese of my pizza. I am not sure what this was about. Maybe their location was completely out of all of their different sauces that I asked for? read more

The last 3 of 4 reviews I've given have been negative including two 1-star reviews; now time to be positive. I had been here once before in June 2016, but I went back this past Friday. This location is near my office. On Thursday, we got an email saying that our whole company is shutting down. It was corporate's decision that they didn't need our little Columbia, MD office. I needed comfort food on this Friday and what better than pizza! The concept of MOD Pizza is that you pay a flat fee and can get as many toppings as you want. It's like Chipotle in that you pick everything you want. Naturally, I got as many toppings as I liked. One guy in front of me literally said give me every topping except anchovies. I got many toppings, but there are a few more than just anchovies that I don't care for. The lady behind me just got pepperoni. Really? You know you can get as many toppings as you want for the same price? When I was ready to pay, I noticed the non-carbonated drinks like tea & lemonade separate from the soda machine, which looked good. I decided to get a drink. I sampled the Pear lightly Sweetened Tea, which was excellent. But I wanted to try the lemonade, which was just okay for me. The Pear Sweet Tea was the clear winner. After I got my pizza, it was so tasty with so many fresh toppings. It was definitely filling. This is my favorite pizza place in Columbia. Other miscellaneous aspects: -Service: Everyone was friendly and made you feel welcome -Parking: There are a few parallel spaces in front and plenty of parking on the mall side. I got a low emissions vehicle parking in front since I drive a Prius. That is nice benefit of my Prius. -Atmosphere: The lighting was comfortable, and the music was excellent. I've always loved my pizza. I have not been back since Covid quarantine took place but I just had a taste today and they did not disappoint. I did not realize this location was still open because they have construction going on in the shopping center that is located in. But I was pleasantly surprised that they were still open when I came by this past Thursday evening. When I walked in I was greeted by the friendly staff. They have the restaurant set up for social distancing with markers on the floor so you know you are away from the person in front of you. If you have never been to my pizza before you start at one end of the assembly line and you pick the type of pizza you want with the sauce the cheese and all of the toppings. Then they pop it right into the oven in front of you so you are involved in every step of the process. It's nice to have a customized pizza just the way you like it. On this occasion I just wanted some cheesy bread. The gave me a huge amount and it definitely satisfied my craving. I love my pizza and once the weather warms up I'll be sure to stop back. read more

The location of the fast food branch is pretty much in the heart of Columbia Town Center. There are quite a few shops around it and plenty of places to sit and eat outside on a nice warm day. The restaurant itself is clean inside and the staff are all really friendly. I don't get the option to eat junk food (specifically pizza) all too much because of my diet. Mod Pizza is fantastic for being just about the only fast food pizza shop that has vegan options. I do not go out of my way to eat pizza but Mod Pizza is an exception. Also, they have their own app to make ordering much easier and you can choose to either pick up your food from the place directly or they will deliver it to you. I very much enjoy the delivery option when I am not feeling to well and have very little energy to stand over the stove and cook for myself. I am not going to say it is the best pizza place out there but it is pretty damn good. read more

The portions are perfect (about 1-2 meals), the pizza itself it cooked pretty evenly and consistently, and the fact that you can add as many toppings as you want without paying extra is pretty generous considering every other restaurant charges an arm and a leg for extras. What can I say? I love pizza. Especially fire blazed style, thin crusted pizza. This is a create your own pizza type of place. I've tried and love the Blaze Pizza chains. This is very similar. Fresh ingredients and you can either pick custom made pizzas or create your own. I opted for "The Dominic" off their menu. I like this reasonably priced place. They have fresh lemonade or fountain drinks. They don't charge for the amount of toppings rather than the size of your pizza. It was delicious and fast service. read more

Just when I thought MOD pizza couldn't get any better....they impressed me even more. I usually get curbside. Today I ventured inside actual restaurant and I very was pleasantly surprised! Brian made my salad he made me feel welcome and valued he was generous and gracious with the ingredients very friendly and professional! Kudos Brian. Michael was the manager he was very attentive and professional at the register helping me to get my app scanned so I could acquire my bonus points! I tell you, I will be venturing inside more often. These build-your-own pizza places are popping up everywhere and I'm a fan. It took us a while to decide what we wanted and the staff was patient and friendly. The options are plentiful and everything looked great. Fast-casual, so you get your own drink and grab your pizza from the counter when your name is called. Thumbs-up! I added a ton of stuff to my creation (too many to list) so I asked them to cook mine for a bit longer. It came out with little crispy burned edges that were delicious. All the ingredients seemed fresh and the crust was even a bit crispy on the bottom. Perfect! Everyone was happy with their pizza and happy with the price. This place offers gluten free options such as califlower crust. Was with a date, and she has the same issue with gluten as me. The first employee when she asked for gluten free crust asked her if it was an allergy or not.. Now when I was up to order it was a different employee, and I told him the califlower crust, and he never prompted or asked me if this was an allergy or not. I told him it was an allergy regardless, and he just kind of just said ok. So I look at the pans they use for the pizzas I saw lots of flour on the clean empty pizza pans, I asked him is he going to use that? He said yes. I said that has wheat flour on it. He was kind enough to clean it. it's clean cauliflower crust is on I'm like good I can get the toppings and then get this amazing pizza. After I get the toppings he puts it on the rack and then another employee puts it in the oven. So normally at places like this when you inform employees that this is an allergy. They have a mat for that specific gluten free crust pie that they put the pie on top of whilst in the oven. That crust should never touch the oven surface as it's being shared with regular wheat dough right? Well Mod Pizza of Columbia, Maryland decides nope, f dat. Puts my cauliflower crust pizza directly on the oven surface. I informed the employees right away I can't eat that now. One guy argued with me saying it is a 700 degree oven. And I have no idea what that has to do with gluten and preventing cross-contaimination. This place isn't celiac friendly and I cannot recommend people come here to eat. Now I wouldn't be writing this review normally. I am writing because I called ahead of time and asked them if this place is celiac friendly and what do they do to try I mean try to prevent cross contaimination. They told me they make sure they use a clean pan, they use a separate cutter that is clean and only for the gluten free crust, and that they make sure the pizza isn't directly on the surface of the oven. The employee that serviced me, didn't asked me if this was for an allergy. Was very dismissive and didn't even attempt to prevent cross-contamination without my prompting him and instructing him. Meaning if I didn't speak up. You would've done it anyway. And they did anyway even when I did speak up. I had to cancel an order, go on date where I didn't get to eat a thing. my date also has celiacs and once I pointed out that hey our pizzas are on the oven surface.
