Fast food pizza places are popping up all over Columbus but unfortunately Blaze is near the bottom. The interior is nice enough and their focus on quality ingredients is appreciated but the pizza itself mediocre at best. The pie size is fairly small compared to the other chains and the crust is neither crispy nor chewy. I tried both the pepperoni and BBQ chicken and both lacked flavor. I know you can't expect a lot from fast casual pizza but do yourself a favor and go to a real pizza place. read more

Jade and John were the best Blaze Pizza Master that ever served me and they deserve a raise for their excellent service

This place is good. It has a modern feel and decor, friendly staff and a good selection of ingredients. Vegan choices were easy, although the "high rise" crust option that I got didn't seem very high. It looked like the standard crust that the person in front of me got, so I'd go with the standard crust next time to avoid the +$2 upcharge. That said, the spicy red sauce had a rich tonato flavor with some heat. I like spicy foods so this wasn't spicy in my opinion. I also got the vegan cheese (daiya I think), basil, cherry tomatoes, diced garlic and banana peppers. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. Overall I liked it a lot, but it tasted very similar to pizza cucinova, and was about $3 more expensive because I built my own pizza. A one or two topping would have been cheaper, but PC is still cheaper with all the toppings you want. Bottom line: It's a good spot for anyone that likes pizza, so probably everyone. If you've had pizza cucinova, don't expect much to be different. read more

My friends and I went here after going to the art festival last month. I recently went from vegetarian to vegan in may of this year and not going downtown much means idk what's vegan down there. I was happy to know it was like subway but with pizza; it's a build your own or you could get a signature pizza. Really was surprised by this place. I'll admit it--I'm a snob around the campus area and try to avoid it and any of its restaurants. When a friend directed us here, I was like "oh great! Here is more cheap, low-quality student-driven food" I was 100% wrong! The flavor was excellent and the value even better! It's basically the classic Chipotle-concept: pick your base, ingredients, and they make it for you. The choice of ingredients was extensive and seemed fresh. There were a couple different options for sauces and drizzles. The possibilities of toppings/styles are endless! The pizza itself was wood-fired and cooked perfectly. Ah, Blaze Pizza, how I love thee. There's generally a big line when you walk in the door, but it moves pretty quickly. Like a lot of line-style restaurants, the employees always try to rush through orders (I've had my name misspelled more times than at Starbucks). They always try to throw cheese on my pizza out of habit, but they'll listen when I explain that I don't want any meat or cheese. I get some eye rolls when I ask for looooooots of veggies, but I've always ended up getting a good end product. As a vegan, I find it's nice to have these kinds of places that I can make late-night food runs with friends without feeling left out. The menu is very accommodating to dietary restrictions, everything is pretty fresh and healthy (never greasy), and it tastes delicious every time, all for under $7. This has quickly become one of my favorite High St./campus-area spots to grab food. read more

The worst blaze I've ever been too. Service is terrible, pizza is usually burnt, and if you opt to have it delivered through a delivery service there is a 100% chance you'll get the wrong pizza. All around horrible experience. Delivery shows up late and the driver dropped the salad right in front of me, doesn't say a word. I think, okay, it happens, whatever. Get it up to the room, it's totally inedible. Open the pizza, it's made all wrong. I think again, okay, it happens. Then I feel it and it's colder than Jack Nicholson's frozen corpse in The Shining. So that's two bummers. Then I check out the cheesy bread and there's no sauce with it. Who wants cheesy bread without sauce? The point is to concoct your own quasi controlled stick of pizza with your own perfect saucy ratio for your supreme enjoyment. Bummer. Again. So I call to see what we can do about my order, conveniently enough, well, you have to listen to about two minutes of recording just for them to say press 3, so ultimately no one will brother answering the call, or just send it to a dead signal. Neat. So I hop in my car and drive 15 minutes because, straight up, I wanted that pizza. Well, lo and behold, it's a restaurant that is allowing far too many people in its small dining room during a pandemic. And check this out, no public restroom. The reason? The signs says because a pandemic. Makes sense. Anyway, I check with the manager, not very helpful at all. Offers to sauce up my cold pizza and send me on my way. That's a hard pass. I mean you're just offering to add sauce to something that's turned into a hungover frat boy's day old breakfast. I just want new food. So I get the new food, but not together. First it's the pizza. 20 minutes later, the bread. And again no sauce. The person cutting the pizzas doesn't even bother reading a single box to look at what the actual order is and what it includes. Finally after having to wait another 40 minutes, I was out the door. I have never once seen a worse run kitchen in my life. Zero communication and zero leadership. Pretty neat, I suppose. EDITED TO ADD: Made it back to the hotel, and the order was WRONG again. It is almost comical how bad this place is. We ordered our food initially at 10:15. We finally got something somewhat edible at 1:00am after waiting in-store for over an hour due to the delivery being botched. Also... The salad they replaced was the wrong salad and half the size of what we ordered and paid for. Cool place. read more

2nd time being at Blaze but first time writing a yelp review. Love the pizza, a 1 topping pie cost about $5.85 and I got spinach for my one topping. The employees are extremely nice aswell. I received great customer service until I went to pay for mine and my fiance's pizzas. The cashier rung me out for both, however after leaving the line my fiancé was also charged for his pizza. So we were charged for 3 pizzas but only go two. Within 2 minutes, I went back and asked for a refund. No one else had gone through in line. The cashier reported to the GM and he had a horrible attitude. He said he couldn't do anything, couldn't go back in the system and refund me, and wouldn't do anything without a receipt-which the cashier did not give me. I told him I literally just bought the pizza and no one else had given me through in line. He was extremely rude and unhelpful about the situation and did not offer any solution. Finally I asked him to give me the third pizza if he wouldn't do anything else and he reluctantly did. PS- the employees there seemed very depressed about working there. I went to a pre-opening event at Blaze, which appeared to be serving as a practice run for their staff. The service was very friendly and everyone seemed genuinely excited. Cute. The place was set up Chipotle-style. You could choose a pre-designed pizza or you could 'make-your-own' by specifying the ingredients that you would like. I chose their Red Vine, which was basically a margarita pizza with red sauce, mozzarella, basil and olive oil. Once my pizza was built, they put it into their large oven and called my name when it was ready. Given that it was their first night and the place was crowded, the pizza came out very quickly (less than 10 minutes). I suspect they will be able to get it down under 5 minutes with some practice. The pizza itself was quite good. The sauce was nice (perhaps a tad salty for my taste but not overwhelmingly so) and the cheese was creamy. The crust was crispy but not too crispy and the basil was fresh-tasting. I was able to eat the whole thing myself but was quite full when I finished. Overall, the pizza and service were great. It's not the best quick-fired pizza I've ever had but it's definitely one of the better pizzas I have eaten in Columbus. Furthermore, their prices were very affordable (under $7 for a pie). Pizza was delicious and I liked the concept of being able to build your own pizza. However, the employees were very rude and were rushing us even though there was nobody behind us in line. They acted like we were bothering them by even being in there. 3 out of the 3 employees working were awful and rude, but were laughing it up and chatting with each other. They mumbled at us, rolled their eyes and were shouting out things at us while we were standing 2 feet in front of them, which was unnecessary. It's very upsetting when you try great pizza, but don't wanna go back because of the staff. Didn't even seem like a manger was around and even watching what was going on. I had been to Blaze once before and was generally very happy with the service and quality of the food. I was there with a few friends this past Saturday night around midnight and had absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with an employee at any restaurant. The woman who was working the last station where the pizzas are cut and given out was extremely rude and combative with customers. Due to a mix up in the order or names on the order sheets, she called my name for a pizza and handed me one that was not mine. I asked it if was my friend's and it was his pizza so I gave it to him. When I told the woman that she gave me my friend's pizza and mine was the next one, she raised her voice with me and told me to stop jumping in line and that I needed to wait for my pizza. I explained that my name had been called already but they had mixed up the papers corresponding to the correct pizza. She rolled her eyes at me and kept saying that since my name was on another pizza, I was lying about which one was mine. I was not drunk, rude, or accusatory with how I explained the situation to her. However, she would not accept that there was a mistake in the order of names on the pizzas and thought I was trying to steal a pizza. She snapped at me several times very loudly about the situation. She kept asking me over and over if the pizza she had was mine since she apparently did not believe me even though no one else said it was theirs. She finally boxed up the pizza and threw it on the counter at me without even looking at me. She did not apologize or even acknowledge that the mistake had been made on their part. In addition to this, another friend who was with me had gone to Blaze earlier in the day and recognized the same woman. She was extremely rude to him when he was trying to order. She yelled at him for trying to ask for the basil pesto glaze before the pizza was cooked because he was unaware that was the correct time to ask for it. She was short and rolled her eyes several times at him for no apparent reason. I was completely shocked that a company like Blaze would employ someone so rude and disrespectful to customers, especially when the customer did nothing wrong and explained calmly what the situation was. I have never been treated that way by an employee of any company and I question Blaze's commitment to customer service after having dealt with this woman. I am a fan of Blaze's pizza, but after that experience I very much doubt I would patronize them again. ***EDIT**** I emailed the manager of this location and he responded quickly with a sincere apology and said there were many complaints about this particular woman. She has since been fired. He asked me for the emails of my friends and I so that he can send us all free pizza coupons to give Blaze another try, along with an apology letter for the shift manager that night to apologize for allowing her to act the way she did. I am very happy with how Blaze has handled the situation and am looking forward to giving their restaurant another chance! read more

Saw the chain on TV and noticed they were like the Subway of fast pizza. Was not disappointed. Although I eat gluten free I couldn't resist the high rise crust. I was not disappointed. It's past tense for "having been put into a fire." It may seem like a small thing but if I get inside and the menu says "3 dollar's" or "frie's extra," I might go Red Pen on the whole place and no one wants that.
