Friendly tip: they have a groupon available right now where you can get 6 empanadas and a sauce (salsa) andfor $24. But if you contact the owner beforehand, you can get the same deal without purchasing the groupon, which can help a local business save some extra fees. I called beforehand to place my order so that it would be ready by the time I got there. They have a wide variety of flavours to choose from. Their deep fried picks pertain to mozza cheese, while the oven baked ones are more meat focused. I ordered an assortment of different ones so that I could try a little bit of everything: cheese only, cheese + mushroom + green onion, cheese + chorizo, spicy ground beef, regular sliced beef, and chicken chimichurri. There is definitely a difference between the deep fried empanadas and the oven baked ones. I definitely have an unhealthy favouring of the deep fried ones, but the oven baked ones are a good alternative if you're trying to stay on the healthier side. My favourite empanada was the cheese + mushroom + green onion. They were generous with the cheese (read: cheese pull action was evident), and the mushroom had such a fragrant and strong flavour. As for the meat selection, it was so-so. I tried to be adventurous and try something different, but trying the others helped prove my initial prediction - which was that ground beef is the go-to as it is your typical empanada filling.

We ordered a variety to get a good feel including the ground beef, chicken chimichurri, shrimp and the cheese churizo. I would definetly recommend the shrimp and the churizo. Didn't really care for the chicken chimichurri. It wasn't bad but not amazing either. One thing I did not like at all was the salsa, way too much cilantro for my liking. Otherwise prices were fair and you get a free empanada for checking in. I didn't really like the location, it was in this weird industrial place but there was plenty parking. The decor wasnt bad, there's great art work however there was room for improvement.

Tucked away behind a small restaurant plaza, El Padrino is not shiny or flashy, but boy do they make their food dazzle. We tried the fried plantain, bean and cheese pupusa, and the chicken pozole verde. The pupusas were amazing, filled with gooey and hearty goodness, and the curtido was crunchy and refreshing. The pozole... perfect for warming up on a cold winter's day. The flavors were spot on as well. Other pozoles I've tried have been too watery or too acidic without much hominy, but this one was generous with the hominy while carrying the perfect amount of spice. The homemade tortilla chips also made a splendid accompaniment. The guy running the place was friendly and clearly cared about our food experience. When we ordered the plantain, he brought us out the plantains to check if we were okay with the ripeness. One thing to note is that sometimes they're out of specific items. I wanted to try the horchata, but they were out the day we went. The tamarind agua fresca was a solid replacement, however. Prices are also quite reasonable; I think the bill came out to about $40 for two people who left feeling absolutely stuffed. I cannot wait to go back to try their horchata and chilaquiles (and to get pictures instead of eating everything immediately)!

It's a small restaurant serving different Salvadorian and other Latin cuisines. They do have alot of options to choose from. I ordered combo 14 which had a bit of everything for you to try. A taco, pupusa, Taquito and 1 more item. There are different variations in their tacos and pupusa. They even have a special stew that is served only on Sunday that we need to try someday. BTW, there are tons of places in Calgary that make pupusa but I think this restaurant is the best. Great service and very welcoming. The only complaint I would have is this place does not have air condition. So can be very hot especially in the summer. Overall, delicious food and reasonably prices. Will come back and order other things next time.

I loved the ambiance as traditional vallenato music plays in the background. Unfortunately however I will not return as the food lacks everything.

I had planned on only eating one bite of the Tres Leches and taking it all to-go, but ended up sitting down and devouring the whole container on the curb because it was literally that tasty and nostalgic. This places charges 70 percent more that virtually every other restaurant in the same area, all facing the same overhead. Every last one is $2.90 or less. Heaven is not even remotely competitive. The food I give four stars to but I have to downgrade the overall experience to one-star because I do not like being taken for a ride. Fortuna's Row was one of the nicer dinner spots we had booked during our recent trip to Calgary…read more Since we had a party of 12, we opted for one of the Harvest set menus to make things simpler. On their website, they recommend doing a set menu for parties of 7 or more, although not sure if they still allow you to order a la carte. We chose the higher tier set menu which was $95 CAD at the time of our visit. The set menus are listed as having 3 "courses" plus dessert, however each course has multiple dishes, so it was actually more like 8-9 courses followed by 2 desserts at the end. There was so much food! We ended up with a ton of leftovers which we packed to go. My favorite dish was the tiradito, which was actually the first dish to come out after the bread. I think the premium set menu was worth getting over the standard menu for this dish alone! Other than that, every dish that came after was decent. My only complaint was that for one of the dishes, the fried potatoes were sliced/fried so thinly that it felt like they were making tiny cuts on the inside of my mouth. But they were still delicious and I kept reaching back for more despite the pain... There's a small paid parking lot for the restaurant, and we managed to snag the last spot when we arrived. Overall, good food and great value for everything that we got. Would recommend for anything looking for a more upscale meal. I would definitely be down to return if I'm ever in the area again, but ideally I'd like to try the a la carte menu if possible so I can choose all dishes that are more suited to my taste.
