In the words of another reviewer, I would give this place negative stars if I could.
3 stars for the food
0 stars for the service (so bad that I got in a yelling match w/ the server at the end)
I bought a restaurant.com GC here when I used to live in the neighborhood. Came here for lunch today and ordered a shepherd's pie. Didn't expect much, as it was low-key Irish pub.. was just looking for a place to eat nearby my hair appointment. The shepherd's pie was pretty standard - no major complaints.
The issues came when it came time to pay the bill. I had mentioned to the server from the start that I had a resto.com coupon. However, when he called resto.com to validate the code, he had issues, so came over to tell me he couldn't validate it. I offered to call for him, and successfully validated the code. Unfortunately, since the phone # was an automated system, there was no way to talk to a live person to verify to the server that the coupon had been validated. However, when I hit redial, a recording came on that clearly stated the coupon had been validated and provided the time stamp when it was redeemed. I redialed again and handed the phone to the server so he could hear the recording. He took the phone, pressed some #s, and kept insisting that the coupon could not be validated and that I should redial again and listen as "proof" that he was right and not "making it up". I took the phone back, redialed, and AGAIN heard the recording that the coupon had just been redeemed a few minutes ago. I told him what the recording had said, but he continued to insist that I redial again.
Frustrated and already late for my hair appointment at that point, I said "sir, I've already redialed and heard a recording twice that the coupon was redeemed today at x time. I already know it's been validated. I need YOU to redial and hear the recording yourself. What did you hear when I passed the phone to you?"
The server ignored my question and spouted off again about how he was not making up the fact that the coupon couldn't be validated. I asked to speak to someone else, and he said there was no one else to speak to (this was as another waitress passed right by us). Again, he tried passing the phone to me, and AGAIN I said I already knew for a fact that the coupon was validated and that he needed to call to hear the recording himself.
At that point I was tempted to just forgo the value of the resto.com coupon and pay the full amount. However, at that point it was about the principle of it. He finally called again and heard the recording and said "ok yeah, it's redeemed."
.....No apologies. No admission that he was wrong. Nothing. He proceeded to snap at me "you want your bill, or what?," then threw his pen at the counter in clear anger and stomped away.
When he returned, he tried giving me a lecture about how patience is a virtue and how I had become irate at him for no good reason. I told him I didn't want to argue anymore and just wanted to pay the bill and leave. "Good, I can't wait for you to leave" was his response.
Wow, what awful "customer service," if you can even call it that. Stay away from this place at all costs read more
