Where else to celebrate St. Paddys Day than at an Irish Bar! This spot is not too far from where I work which is good since I'll be stopping by again. They have three levels and it was packed due to the holiday. But after a few minutes of waiting we got a table and was able to order drinks and food. There was only two people on the third floor serving, but our food and drinks didn't take long to arrive after ordering. For drinks I ordered Irish Eyes and my friend got a Guinness. My drink was fruity and sweet which I liked. As for food we got the Lemon Pepper wings and the Dublin Spice Bag. The wings were really good, super crispy and you can taste the lemon pepper seasoning! As for the Dublin Spicy Bag which is just strips of chicken and fries with peppers that comes with a curry sauce, sorta like loaded fries. We truly enjoyed this, the curry sauce was a hit even though we were unsure of what to expect being they are Irish. I've seen on the menu curry dishes at other Irish Spots but never tried them before but now I will! I would definitely go back to try their other menu items and of course drinks. A bad bar or an off night? I can't tell. Jack Demsey's is an Irish pub located right outside Korea Town and Madison Square Guarden. With it's beautiful exterior and prime real estate location, I came in with friends early on a Saturday night to get out of the cold and share a few drinks. Inside, the bar had a lovely sitting area with a faux fireplace and sports memorabilia. But my party was placed in a poorly lit cubby underneath a set of stairs. It seemed like half the bar had a fun vibe while the other was draped in darkness and that's where our server placed us despite the lighter side having almost no customers. Our server was rude our visit. We asked for waters and she brought a single cup. When we asked for one for everyone at the table, she said "they're coming" and brought out a second cup. Most everyone ordered an alcoholic drink or two. After my second drink, I asked for water and was told "you can't just sit here and order water." So I ordered a third drink and only then got my first water. Jack Demsey has two bathrooms. The first is a single gender neutral bathroom located between the nice and sketchy areas of the bar. It was so over-used and under-cleaned with garbage littering the floors due to a lack of anyone taking out the trash. The second bathroom is far worst, located down a steep staircase in a poorly lit area. There were no doors on the stalls and nails poking out of every piece of wood. My drinks were good. I got hot toddies and Irish coffees, and if all you want to do is watch a game and have a hot alcoholic drink, you'll be fine. With the sketchy atmosphere, lack of cleanliness, and abhorrent service, I never want to go to Jack Demsey's again. read more

Unacceptable Treatment of Veterans with Service Animals - Avoid This Place! If I could give ZERO stars I would! I am absolutely appalled by the treatment my group of veterans and I received at Jack Demsey! We were denied service simply because we had service animals with us. For a business to show such ignorance and disregard for federal law (ADA) is unacceptable. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are legally permitted to accompany their handlers into public establishments, including restaurants. There are no excuses for refusing service to individuals with disabilities, and it is illegal to do so. When we tried to explain this to the staff, they had the audacity to tell us that they'd have to turn away other customers because "we were taking up too much space." Yet, two hours later, during a non-peak time (not even close to lunch or dinner), the entire back room remained completely empty. It's obvious that they had no intention of accommodating us from the start. Honestly, after reading other reviews, it's clear we didn't miss out. People have consistently commented on how bad the food is--and after witnessing their unprofessional and discriminatory behavior, I have no doubt that the customer service is even worse. This establishment not only lost our business, but they also made it clear they don't respect their patrons or federal law. We happened upon this place by accident when seeking shelter from unexpected rain. We were pleasantly surprised that it so genuinely had the atmosphere of an actual Irish pub that you'd find in Dublin or somewhere else of the like. Despite the fact that the place was packed and there was a suspenseful soccer match on the TVs, the staff was attentive, prompt, friendly, and very helpful. My only complaint is that the ladies' restroom didn't have a hook or self of any kind for my purse. However, it wound up not being that big of a deal since I was able to improvise by hanging my purse from the hinge at the top of the door.
