Where else to celebrate St. Paddys Day than at an Irish Bar! This spot is not too far from where I work which is good since I'll be stopping by again. They have three levels and it was packed due to the holiday. But after a few minutes of waiting we got a table and was able to order drinks and food. There was only two people on the third floor serving, but our food and drinks didn't take long to arrive after ordering. For drinks I ordered Irish Eyes and my friend got a Guinness. My drink was fruity and sweet which I liked. As for food we got the Lemon Pepper wings and the Dublin Spice Bag. The wings were really good, super crispy and you can taste the lemon pepper seasoning! As for the Dublin Spicy Bag which is just strips of chicken and fries with peppers that comes with a curry sauce, sorta like loaded fries. We truly enjoyed this, the curry sauce was a hit even though we were unsure of what to expect being they are Irish. I've seen on the menu curry dishes at other Irish Spots but never tried them before but now I will! I would definitely go back to try their other menu items and of course drinks. Service was great as well even though they were busy. read more

Jack Dempsey's is a classic Irish pub and sports bar right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, just steps from Madison Square Garden. It's an iconic spot that pays tribute to the great Jack Dempsey, and the atmosphere inside is exactly what you'd hope for warm, lively, and welcoming. Their Guinness is poured perfectly (truly one of the best pints you'll get in the area), and the food portions? Wow. Absolutely massive and genuinely delicious. If you're hungry, this is the place to go. A great spot for a game, a pint, or a hearty meal. read more

This used to be the most expensive Irish pub on the row south of Empire State Building, but now it seems to be in line. Our lunch today was first rate. Shepherd's pie for me and grilled chicken wrap for her. The pie was a treat for the eye and palate with very generous portions of fine mashed potatoes. The best part was a lengthy talk with our server Leianne about all things Ireland and New York. read more

We came here on a weekday for a work lunch. I ordered the burger with fries. Overall, the burger was decent but not life changing. I didn't have high expectations with Irish pub food. However, they had plenty of seating and our food was ready quickly. Is this the best place in the area to eat? No. But it's not a bad option if you need a quick bite. read more

WORST BAR IN NYC. I came here with my girlfriend to watch the Spain vs Uruguay game... I got pressed by the bouncer into agreeing to buy a drink (which I was always intending to do), I went upstairs... ordered a Moscow mule and a vodka soda. 38 bucks and they force you to include a 20% gratuity. Weirdos here. Don't come here it's an absolute sham. The bartender also commented on my girlfriend. It's insane. DO THOSE DRINKS LOOK LIKE $35? read more

Service was pushy the amount of drinks and food we accumulated not one buy back from the bar.. shameless greed

Great spot to watch sports games, have been here for a few World Cup games and the atmosphere was amazing, really cool sports bar right across from the Empire State Building with 4 floors and 4 different bar, we will be back more often read more

just now New $10-20 Extremely rude worker here. Came here with a group and got several drinks for a birthday Some rude man came up to us and told us we had to leave the bar because we were "taking up space" and "not drinking enough" (as if there was a line to get in). Subpar drinks, rude service, in a dime a dozen bar. And no like out the door, actually the bar was emptying out. Go take your business somewhere else and can't wait to see this location close and get upgraded to a better establishment. read more

Leanne took great care of us at Jack Dempsey's. She's got that fun Irish vibe and made the whole night easy and relaxed. Drinks stayed full, food came out quick, and she kept us laughing the whole time. If you stop in, ask for Leanne -- she'll treat you right. -the Mississippi boys read more

A bad bar or an off night? I can't tell. Jack Demsey's is an Irish pub located right outside Korea Town and Madison Square Guarden. With it's beautiful exterior and prime real estate location, I came in with friends early on a Saturday night to get out of the cold and share a few drinks. Inside, the bar had a lovely sitting area with a faux fireplace and sports memorabilia. But my party was placed in a poorly lit cubby underneath a set of stairs. It seemed like half the bar had a fun vibe while the other was draped in darkness and that's where our server placed us despite the lighter side having almost no customers. Our server was rude our visit. We asked for waters and she brought a single cup. When we asked for one for everyone at the table, she said "they're coming" and brought out a second cup. Most everyone ordered an alcoholic drink or two. After my second drink, I asked for water and was told "you can't just sit here and order water." So I ordered a third drink and only then got my first water. Jack Demsey has two bathrooms. The first is a single gender neutral bathroom located between the nice and sketchy areas of the bar. It was so over-used and under-cleaned with garbage littering the floors due to a lack of anyone taking out the trash. The second bathroom is far worst, located down a steep staircase in a poorly lit area. There were no doors on the stalls and nails poking out of every piece of wood. My drinks were good. I got hot toddies and Irish coffees, and if all you want to do is watch a game and have a hot alcoholic drink, you'll be fine. With the sketchy atmosphere, lack of cleanliness, and abhorrent service, I never want to go to Jack Demsey's again. read more

Great food! Great service! We stopped here before a Rangers game for dinner and had a fantastic meal! Ingredients were fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Our meals were served quickly and waitstaff was friendly. This was easily the best meal we've had around the Garden. Can't wait to stop here again! read more

Ive been a regular here for 9 years, the new owner did the right thing by having a late night menu, but made the mistake if keeping the chef. Ive had the pizza several times hoping they would figure it out but after this last time of sending it back to the kitchen 3 times it is obvious this chef's only skill is using the deep fryer. I feel like this place has been here forever. At least longer than I have. Average menu, but you don't come for the food. Good bartenders who are quick on the draft. Cozy pub atmosphere. Easy location. It has what you need. read more

Decent spot to watch a basketball or hockey game and have a beer. Service was mediocre (bartender was tending the bar and the tables on the first floor), but he was friendly and helpful (when around). I didn't try any of the food, but the burgers, fries, and accompanying fare looked and smelled decent. Small, dingy bathroom on the first floor across from the main bar - but better than the alternative. I'm glad I tried Dempsey's but wouldn't make a return trip. read more

3 stars feels like such a negative review, but really it is just an ok bar with ok food. I think it is the type of place that has regulars though so I'm sure they would beg to differ. I came in for lunch and ordered the chicken avocado wrap. Can't really tell from the photo but it was huge. It made for two meals, which in nyc isn't something I would normally want because I want to try a restaurant for dinner, but that particular day I didn't have time for dinner so it worked out. read more

We thought we would give this place another try. We should've known better. The staff are rude and ignorant. The waitress who was even waiting on us, kept coughing and wiping her nose while taking our order. She then proceeds to talk about how she's just getting over being sick. Yet, when she brings out our food, you have to wonder if she even bothered washing her hands before grabbing our plates. read more

Service was sup-par. Bartender was gruff and didn't serve us (Irish gentleman don't recall his name).

Tried 3 different tap beers and they all taste the same. Have a similar distinctive taste like IPA. Only problem is I didn't order IPA I ordered Heineken and Stella Artois. Neither of them tasted like what they should taste like. Requested to swap out beers, I said they don't taste like they are supposed to. Bartender responded "They've been fine all night" Not the best experience to just grab a brew at 1130 after watching some sporting games. read more

Pizza - I'd stay away from. Service was good and the restaurant is a cool place to chill. Beer and drinks are good. Food..: I'd pass.

Great pub! Absolutely love this place! Always a welcoming atmosphere with Mazum. My go to place to hang out and have a drink.

The bartender was very nice and talked to us like we were friends. It was very lowkey and some of the other workers just got off but they were relaxing there after their shifts. There were also some regulars who gave me some recommendations for place while I was visiting NY. We didn't get any food but it was my boyfriend's birthday and so they surprised him with a cheesecake and that was very sweet. Overall very lovely people and a nice place for a drink! read more

I was with a small group of pre-teens waiting to tour the Empire State Building. We noticed this restaurant for its unique exterior design. We approached a few sports bars nearby, and were ignored. Fortunately, the Host at this restaurant took us right in. The food is hearty, hot, and tasty. We had lunch fare. Nothing complicated. Burgers, chicken tenders, and fish and chips. Food was presented in about 25 minutes. We all enjoyed our fare. It wasn't too busy as it was early Saturday afternoon and rainy. I enjoyed the convenient location and timely service. read more

After a lunch on a rainy day with a gf, I had drinks with a dear friend who I needed to talk to. He picked this place because he wanted to see the Bears play and he lived right next door. When I arrived, the Bucs already won so all I needed to do was drink and have a good time with my friend. I got my usual Tito's, soda and lime juice while he got beer beer beer. Our bartender was fantastic. He didn't do a shot with me, but he gave me a shot of Don Julio when I told him I have a long week coming ahead. K-Lawn (how you say it, not how you spell it) will make sure your glass is never less than half full. You end up drinking like a sailor. However, I had such a hard time getting drunk for some reason and kept requesting stronger drinks. A single became double and eventually I was just downing triples. Okay, so my friend got nachos. We saw a vegetarian guy get a vegetarian version and I was not amused. Where is the meat?! My friend got the vegetarian and added chicken and jalapenos. It was something else. Nothing fancy. Just chips, guac, chicken, beans, sour cream, onions, but wow! I said I'd have a few bites, I prob ate like a fourth. t I practically live at friend's place so this place will be solid if we want to go out, but not go out too far! See you soon K-Lawn! read more

We were visiting from out of town and Jack Demsey's became our spot to have a drink at the end of the day (after doing all the touristy stuff). The staff is friendly, the drinks are great, and the food was good. We didn't order too much food, but what we ordered was not bad at all. What we liked was that this was a pretty chill place to hang out and watch sports on the tv screens with no expectations to be super dressed up. If I go back to NYC again, will definitely go back. read more

Unacceptable Treatment of Veterans with Service Animals - Avoid This Place! If I could give ZERO stars I would! I am absolutely appalled by the treatment my group of veterans and I received at Jack Demsey! We were denied service simply because we had service animals with us. For a business to show such ignorance and disregard for federal law (ADA) is unacceptable. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are legally permitted to accompany their handlers into public establishments, including restaurants. There are no excuses for refusing service to individuals with disabilities, and it is illegal to do so. When we tried to explain this to the staff, they had the audacity to tell us that they'd have to turn away other customers because "we were taking up too much space." Yet, two hours later, during a non-peak time (not even close to lunch or dinner), the entire back room remained completely empty. It's obvious that they had no intention of accommodating us from the start. Honestly, after reading other reviews, it's clear we didn't miss out. People have consistently commented on how bad the food is--and after witnessing their unprofessional and discriminatory behavior, I have no doubt that the customer service is even worse. This establishment not only lost our business, but they also made it clear they don't respect their patrons or federal law. Veterans, service animal handlers, and anyone who values respect and professionalism--do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. read more

On July 14 I stopped to watch the copa America Final with my friends, we were 5 and paid 20 dollars each to get in. We were asked a card to open a tap in order we can start consuming, I gave them mine as my friend were not from here, at the end we gathered the cash and we paid , so I didn't used my Cc at all , which means I didn't sign anything, and the Spanish girl who took my cc card saw me when I paid the bartender and I topes 20 % , still with no mercy they charged me in my cc, I called them to solve my problem many time and I tried to do this in the diplomatic way , and I even asked them to check in the camera and who ever answered me , last Monday August 5th , he refused and even threatened me Don not show up in the bar and he even told me that I signed the bill I provided them My email and they didn't send me anything. read more

We happened upon this place by accident when seeking shelter from unexpected rain. We were pleasantly surprised that it so genuinely had the atmosphere of an actual Irish pub that you'd find in Dublin or somewhere else of the like. The menu (both for food and beverages) had a variety of options, without being overwhelming. Despite the fact that the place was packed and there was a suspenseful soccer match on the TVs, the staff was attentive, prompt, friendly, and very helpful. My only complaint is that the ladies' restroom didn't have a hook or self of any kind for my purse. However, it wound up not being that big of a deal since I was able to improvise by hanging my purse from the hinge at the top of the door. I would definitely recommend this establishment, even if it's just for a quick pint. read more
