Vegetable Sub
Steve A.

Blades is one of several pizza places in Ashville. It's amazing there's so many. This small town can handle all these. It has pizza but also subs. The inside is pretty big and has a few TVs. Like the other pizza places this is locally owned. It doesn't have to compete against national brands. This is better than anything you can get at a pizza chain. It seems like in this town this place is the best. The interior is large enough to bring in many guests. It has several TVs to watch games. The pizzas are good but if you're just wanting something not so large try a sub. It's about $6 for each. The vegetable sub comes with mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. At first it looks kind of generic, but the bread has a nice crispness. This also goes good with pizza sauce.

From the 2018 website. Now open earlier each day for lunch

"Help yourself. It's FREE!" When was the last time you heard any business giving away something worthy for free? I was blown away. I know it's just ice cream, but it screams family business taking care of families. A co-worker mentioned this spot. We finally found a page on Facebook with a menu. Ordering was easy, and finding the building was even easier. A dozen or more parking spaces right out front. Inside was a big space of tables and some TV's. Video games are in many corners to entertain all the ages. A self serve counter holds a Pepsi fountain machine (see pic), condiments, plates, silverware, and a soft serve ICE CREAM machine. 2 liter soda or gallons of tea (see pic) are available for carryout or dine in. Open certain days for lunch and delivery. We chose specialty pizzas and a sub. The staff was super friendly, and eager to answer all my questions. They easily split up our orders for separate payments. That's when they clued me in, all guests can enjoy a cup, or cone of ice cream (see pic). Vanilla, chocolate or twist. Also carryout guests. So worth going to go pick up an order. I enjoyed the thin crust size (see pic), but found it's taste average. I was surprised to see the commercial upright mixer in the kitchen for dough making. Very happy they don't have sweet sauce. It was mild, not full of flavor. I wish they would offer Old World Pepperoni. No complaints on the abundance of toppings (see pic). They fully admit online that they use canned mushrooms. Co-worker said the Italian sub(see pic) was okay, but everyone wants so much more extra filling. We were all surprised to find the mini salad(see pic) came in a styrofoam sandwich box. We expected $1.75 might get us less. Prices are very fair. They also have some lunch specials. Stop in and grab some grub and a cone.

Yum!

Good solid pizza, not typical Ohio style cracker crust but good pizza. We got the boss and I really enjoyed it

We recently stopped by Ashbrook Distillery and discovered what I'd call a true hidden gem in…read moreAshville. The place has that classic small-town dive bar feel, the kind of spot where you walk in expecting a casual bite and end up being pleasantly surprised by how good the food actually is. It's relaxed, welcoming, and feels like a place locals probably keep to themselves. We started with something called Hillbilly Calamari, and despite the name, there's no squid involved. Instead, it's sliced banana peppers lightly breaded and fried, served with ranch. They were crispy, tangy, and had just the right little kick. A really fun and unique starter. Served with ranch dressing 9/10 But the wings absolutely stole the show. They're slow smoked first and then flash fried, which gives them a great smoky flavor while keeping the outside crispy and the inside juicy and tender. I tried two flavors -- Cody's mix which was Bourbon BBQ mixed with spicy garlic which had a great smoky flavor a sweet and savory richness with a hint of kick from the bourbon and I ordered the Spicy Garlic, which packed a bold garlicky heat that really popped. Both wings were excellent. 20/10 And of course, you can't go wrong with the fresh-cut fries on the side. Fries were good, but could have been a little crispier for my preference. 7/10 One of the coolest things about the place is the grill right behind the bar, where you can watch them as they're cooking your burger while you watch. It adds to that laid-back, old-school bar atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel authentic. Katy was are server and she was super friendly and on top of refills and kept checking on us. This is definitely a place that makes you feel comfortable and welcome. If you're anywhere near Ashville, this is definitely worth a stop. Great wings, fun appetizers, and a relaxed neighborhood vibe make it a place I'd happily come back to for another bite!! Have a great day from Brian From Brian's Big Bite

The ambience is fine, it's a small place that's almost more bar than restaurant, but it has several tables, too, so families are welcome. At 6:33 I called in to check on my order, and was told they would send it out. I asked if it would be cold, and was told yes it's on top of the oven. I requested my food to be remade and expected some reimbursement. I was greeted on the phone by a man saying she (the owner) said one or the other, I asked to speak with her and he told me she wasn't there. The man stated it was one or the other, when I got frustrated he hung up on me. I called back and said please don't hang up on me, another man answered; stating he was the owner and very aggressive with me offering the same thing. He told me I was looking for free food, and I didn't want that at all. I stated I didn't think this was right, and I have 3 kids waiting to eat. When I didn't give in he began yelling at me, stating he was the owner. He went as far as saying "I don't know you, but you are a nasty bitch!". This is absolutely insane for anyone to speak to a customer this way. I was not rude to him, even though he interpreted it that way. Stay away from this pizza place!!!
