I was excited to treat myself to some new jewelry for my birthday, but the entire experience was unnecessarily frustrating. The first issue was arriving during posted business hours only to find the shop already closed. After reaching out, I was told they sometimes close early if appointments are finished. If that's the policy, the posted hours should reflect that so customers don't waste their time making the trip.What also added to the frustration was the conflicting information. The owner stated that they sometimes "start wrapping up at 7:15," but the piercer herself stated that she was already out and the shop was closed by 7:03 PM. Those are very different explanations, and they only added to the confusion about when customers can realistically expect the business to be open. I then attempted to return another day simply to purchase jewelry and was surprised by how difficult the process became. I was repeatedly told I needed to coordinate with the piercer's schedule just to view and purchase jewelry, despite not needing a piercing service. What made the experience particularly annoying was being criticized for arriving "an hour before closing." I wasn't coming in for a tattoo, a piercing, or a lengthy consultation i was trying to purchase jewelry. Most jewelry purchases can be completed in a matter of minutes, and it's unreasonable to make customers feel as though they're doing something wrong by shopping during posted business hours. The communication throughout the process was inconsistent. I received different explanations depending on who I spoke with, and what should have been a simple retail purchase turned into multiple phone calls and messages. The employee I spoke with on the phone came across as dismissive and seemed more focused on explaining why I shouldn't come in than finding a way to help. While I appreciated the owner's apology up until they stopped answering my messages, an apology doesn't mean much if you're still willing to entertain ignorant employees who have unrealistic expectations of someone looking to make a large purchase. Customers should not be made to feel like a burden for attempting to buy jewelry during posted business hours. read more

Awesome place. Last time I got tattooed was several years ago in California; so when I moved, I was cautious and did my research prior to committing to a new place. Place accepts walk-ins, and I was impressed with their cleanliness as well as their approachability. The artist Heena is quite talented plus her professionalism was amazing. She was also very light with the needle. They were very informative about the healing process (which I appreciated despite having like many tattoos for over the past decade or two) - shows their commitment. Ses did my first tattoo in 1999, and it was pretty faded out after 25 years. After building up the courage to face the needle again (lol), he agreed to re work it for me. I can't express how awesome this experience was. Such a laid back guy and he spent so much time making sure it was just right. I actually had a lot of fun talking with Ses and he did a great job making me comfortable. I am amazed how he had the skill to make it look like the old work was never there, and this new one is so crisp and clear, I can't stop staring at it! I am already planning another tattoo and would never think of going anywhere else. If there was a 10 star review option, you'd be looking at one. I had a great experience at Blackwork Tattoo Studio. My artist was Nat Cruz and she did an amazing job with every aspect of my tattoo. She designed the perfect tattoo for me. I had all these different ideas in my mind, and she took them all and designed exactly what I had envisioned. I scheduled my appointment through her website and it was easy and painless. We had an online consultation and we kept in touch until it was time for my tattoo. The day of my appointment, I arrived early, filled out some paperwork, and sat in the waiting room a bit. The shop is very clean and the receptionist was very nice and helpful. At the start of my appointment, Nat and I spent half an hour talking about the tattoo in the shop and then she got to work. It had been quite some time since my last tattoo so I was a bit nervous, but it was like riding a bike, and I felt comfortable with the tattoo process and with her immediately. My tattoo took exactly three hours and I had such a lovely time talking to Nat; she really knows how to put your mind at ease.
