We have stayed here several times and have always been taken care of by Christine. When other places wanted to charge $200 or more per night she was the most reasonable. If you looking for the Taj Mahal, then don't stay here duh. Complaint after complaint is because of the amenities, well then don't stay at a "Motel" and expect a 5 star service. If your looking for staying on a budget, in a place that has the owner on site and it will be quiet with no parties, safe and friendly then this is the place to stay. Plus you get microwave, fridge, coffee, WiFi, TV etc. And your car is right upfront of your room. There are several Hotels/Motels around the area but this is where we stay when in Coarsegold. This place has a lot of potential. It's a hidden gem in the ruff. I think they're trying to do improvements on one side of the property but not sure. But for our room. One of our lights worked when giggled. The wiring needs work. Plus we had to screw in all the light bulbs. Some decorations a standard bed frame that fits the bed. Night stands. Overall it served its purpose for our night stay. The bed was comfortable. It was quiet until about 6:30 am then the traffic started up and you are close to the road so it's noisy. You can hear your neighbors talking. Nothing seems private. Best part is they had friendly cats that loved to hang out with you. Told Mark we need to start traveling with cat snacks. This is the 3rd or 4th place we've stayed at that has had cats. That doesn't bother us since we have four at home. read more

The lady had us come around back to our room up a dirt uneven road looked very sketchy. Got out of the car went into the room found a black beat up couch. Behind it two twin beds put together with mismatched blankets. Two other rooms with beds and a kitchen which above the stove on the wall it looked like Christmas wrapping paper. The place smelled of mold. We immediately went back to the desk and said we would not stay there. She wanted to show us another room but we said no. We were getting the kids situated in their seats when she came out and offered to give a refund. Save your money don't stay at this sketchy place. read more

My sister in law booked this place and I was like WTH. However, I ended up actually liking the lodge. It's like being at grandma's as far as decoration. If you're into new furniture and finishing this place is not for you. The owner is very nice. She is also making improvements. I will post pictures. We paid for 3 rooms for the price of 1 at a higher in Hotel. We only needed the place to sleep for 2 days. It wasn't noisy with parties or talking even with the road right out front you didn't have a lot of traffic noise. We actually sat outside in the parking lot chatting our last night. It has everything you need fridge, microwave, electric fireplace on the wall and a ceiling fan. Clean shower and toilet. The shower is very tall so no problem for a tall man or woman. I read a review from a year or so ago talking about the microwave being in the bathroom. That is where it's stored on shelf/counter. I moved it to the table inside the room it's a dorm size microwave. I will post picture. You will see the character and some old but clean quilts and my room had old curtains that didn't match the bed compared to my sister in laws. It's a great motel for it's price. The owner is really sweet and the room is perfect for spending the day in Yosemite.

Everything!! The room was 92° with the air conditioner on. Customer service is nonexistent and even abusive! There were flies and spiders in the bathroom, as well as food in the fridge, but the cherry on top was someone's insulin syringe! This place is completely run down. The building is incredibly sketch and I wouldn't care to write a negative review however here's our story and you see why I'm doing this. See the pictures too. 1. I took my family to Yosemite and figured that we stay somewhere near by for $100 some bucks (that's what we usually pay for Comfort Inn or Oakhurst Lodge or Yosemite South gate hotel; at the nearby town of Oakhurst). Conclusion: I would pay not to stay at Blackhawk Lodge. 2. As we arrived around 6 pm (on time) a half naked men and a naked woman fall out from one of the room and started just walking around the men's truck enjoying what looked like a cigarette/joint after a quick shack up. At this point I called Priceline dot com to cancel the reservation since I wasn't going to stay in a brothel with my young child and wife that night. 3. They wouldn't want to reimburse the reservation! Seriously! After making us drive 2 hours from National Park to this god forsaken place! 4. The curious staff? maybe owner? came out to see what the commotion was (and the naked couple from above went back into the room). The staff woman opened a door to another room - and let me tell you: it did not look enticing at all... mind you all of that for like $110! 5. Can't give 0 stars! This place is DISGUSTING! Burnt outlets, missing lightbulbs, no toilet paper, carboard on the walls, a grocery store paper bag for a trashcan... oh and the bed had bedbug feces. The lady at the desk argued with me when I told her we weren't staying there because of the bedbug feces (I showed her a picture) but she refunded my card and we left. I took a pic of the bed, then my phone died. Now that my phone is charged and I took screenshots of my boyfriend's snapchat, here you go... I booked the reservation on Booking.com and the lady marked me down as a NO SHOW. I have the check in receipt and the refund receipt to show I DID IN FACT CHECK IN but the place was so DISGUSTING I refused to stay there and she refunded my card. I'm all for mom and pop businesses, but if you're going to argue with me about how clean your rooms are (Obviously they weren't clean!), we're gonna have some word exchanges. I told her I've worked in hotels before and I know what the beginning infestations of bedbugs look like. She argued with "NO! WE DON'T HAVE BEDBUGS! MAYBE THE PLACE YOU WORKED AT HAD THEM!" OK lady. ZERO STARS! It took me a long time to write this review because I was so embarrassed that I actually spent a night at this dump. When we got to the hotel it was already early evening. We were horrified when we saw the room. It stunk like stale cigarettes, although I think it is because the place is so old. It appeared somewhat dirty, very old and furnished with stuff you would see at a thrift store. We wanted to leave, but there were no openings anywhere else in the area, which is fairly remote. We had to stay the night. We had already paid for 3 nights, but the owner refunded my money for 2 of them when I told her I couldn't stay there. She was understanding, which was appreciated. You can tell they tried, somewhat, to make it comfortable and clean, although they were not very successfiul. Newer tile floors and newer paint, although it was a very poor paint job and all the work looked like it had been done by amateurs. Much work was unfinished. Bed linen and towels appeared and smelled clean. Bed turned out to be fairly comfortable, although I don't think I slept a wink. We saw one cockroach in the bathroom, on the coffee pot! The lady owner responded to my review on Booking.com to let me know that cockroaches don't live in the area and that it must be a cricket. I know a cockroach when I see one. The worst---we scoured the beds and linens for bedbugs and didn't see any evidence. However, I found one in my bed in the morning! The owner also responded to this comment on Booking.com to let me know "In terms of bedbugs, each stage of a bed bug's life is approximately a week thus if you checked in late and left at first light then they should have been found when you actively searched for them." Uh huh. We left very early in the morning. My teenager refused to sleep in the room and slept in the car. I wish I had too. Breakfast was not included as stated in the listing, but we wouldn't have wanted to eat there anyway. Here's the thing, we are not snobs. We can handle older and outdated accommodations, as long as they are clean. This was not. I would've liked a refund for the one night I ended up paying for, but we left at first light and the owner was not up. Do yourself a favor and keep on driving! read more

Ok, so my dad and step mom live in Yosemite Lakes park up the road from the lodge. A bunch of the family was visiting for Thanksgiving and they didn't have quite enough room so they offered to get my boyfriend and I a room at the lodge, which they did, weeks ago. My step mom told the owner we'd be arriving around 9pm on Thanksgiving day. We arrived at 9:30pm. The Open sign was lit as was the Vacancy sign. A small post it on the locked door had a number to call if nobody was there. I call it. After 20 rings a woman picks up. I say "I'm at the hotel to check in, I have a reservation." She says, " I won't be back until 1am." That's it. No hello, no may I ask your name. I ask how I'm supposed to get my room. She says since I didn't show up yesterday (I apparently booked 2 nights) she canceled my reservation and didn't charge my card. I asked her how she knew who I was since she hadn't asked my name and that I only reserved one night. I gave her my name and she goes "Yeah, you booked a couple days ago and you didn't show up yesterday so I canceled you." I said no, I booked two weeks ago for one night. Well, after her promising she hasn't charged me yet, we get disconnected. I'm pissed. My boyfriend calls back and tries to be reasonable with her. She offers to come back...at 10:45pm. So we are supposed to wait over an hour for her to drive from Fresno? He also goes back and forth with her about whether we were charged and JUST IN CASE we were, how do we reverse it? He mysteriously gets disconnected as well. What lodging owner leaves their place of business with the Open sign and Vacancy sign on, on a holiday weekend and, LEAVES when people still haven't checked in? A phone call AT LEAST, would have been nice. You know "hey, it's Thankgiving, I'd like to visit with family, can you come check in?" Needless to say, we went back to my dad's and my sister slept on the couch, giving us her room. The lodge owner HAD charged my step mom's card and she had to drive over the next evening to have the charge reversed. HORRIBLE customer service. Next time we will book at the Casino. The extra $40 per night doesn't sound so bad now. (yeah, $85 bucks a night for this 12 room lodge in the middle of nowhere) read more

One bar of soap for 2 people who have been at Yosemite all day!! My dad and I decided to drive up to Yosemite last minute to see the ragging rivers and waterfalls. Black Hawk Lodge was the only place available for less than $350 on a Sat. night. Tired and hot, we rolled into the lodge. Check in was nice, no aromas.. We got into Room 6 and we both looked at each other. It was hot, dark, and was the lowest end motel I'd ever stayed at. Grateful to have a place to stay, we immediately went to turn on the AC. You have to plug everything in- even the refrigerator! No shampoo, conditioner, body soap, lotion, tissues or anything, except one bar of soap (stuff for coffee was in there though)! We washed our hands w it and stupidly, I forgot my body wash and used the bar in the shower too! The bar is now back at the bathroom sink- hope it lasts! My reasons for a 2 since the above makes a 2 seem ridiculous: Easy access- right of 41 Cheaper place to stay- grateful for that Pet friendly Easy parking Shower was old, but worked well Bed, better than expected Won't stay again for $95, but may consider for $39.99 and if I'm not itchy tomorrow! read more

We have stayed at this little motel 12 to 15 times over the years. It is alot better now since they have redone the place. The beds are comfy and all the mismatched vintage furniture is cool. The flat sceen tv's are little, however ur not there to watch tv. At $55 for a room its alot better than $180 at the casino. Its only 3 miles from the casino, so a little drive after gambling and eating aint a bad deal...... Beside u save a $130 and thats a dinner at the Vintage!!!!!!!!! The rooms are very clean and the view of all the oak and pine trees is nice to wake up to.. Give this place a try!!!! And enjoy the extra money at the casino!!!!! read more

We were all in the unit behind the motel that had 3 separate rooms, one of which was a 2 bedroom family room. Kind of a "bunkhouse". We had privacy. The other two rooms were standard setup. $69 for a room with a king bed and bathroom. Minifridge, microwave, tv, wifi, coffee pot. The ac worked but the room never really got cool. The bed is a basic mattress and metal cot frame. The bathroom smelled pretty musty. Clean but doesnt look the best. It looks like theyre trying to fix it up but its still pretty janky. This place is not your average motel. It's strange, but awesome. Along with charging about $100 less than most other nearby restaurants, it has a uniqueness that so many American hotels and motels last. It's not a cookie cutter motel at all. It's family owned and was as far from the corporate chain motels as imaginable. We arrived late, and the woman working there let us know we would be staying in a room around back- around back was about a block away down an unpaved road. We opened the door to see a unique room. It had a bed, couch, kitchen area with a refrigerator, microwave, sink, and full sized coffee maker. The room had lots of space and was extremely quiet, providing a great night sleep. Don't miss this unique and original spot! I would actually give it a zero if I could. We knew it wasn't the greatest but the $94 a night beat Chuchansi's $300 a night and that's all we needed it for was for one night. I didn't pack my alarm clock as I usually do as my husband insisted all motels have clocks!! Guess what they didn't have?? An alarm clock, nor a table or dresser nor a coffee pot (like their website claims). The room was dirty, way run down and it had a weird smell like pesticide. A total dive!! The next day, my husband woke up with weird bites on his foot. When we got home, we looked it up and it matched the bite of BED BUGS!! EWWWW.... Never again!! Would not recommend to anyone. I am giving this place A 0 Star It's nothing like the pictures on website. We came to check in and there is a number to call for service. Which is dum. The lobby was dirty and stunk like raid the bug spray.. Then the own came and she was ok but when we asked if the have bed bugs because this place looks like it's bug infested. And she got red and said YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TOO....so we went ahead and checked in got rm#6 and went to the room and its dirty walls have dirt all over it stunk like bug spary.
