Overview: affordable for mammoth, cool people, and decent housing…read more ---- I decided to solo travel for snowboarding and booked a few days here, having no expectations and never having stayed at a hostel before in America. The process of picking up the keys was easy, there's a lobby area on a separate building and a bulletin board with an envelope and your name on it with instructions and your keys. The parking lot is pretty tight but doable and they have a motel in a separate building to the hostel. The hot tub is only for motel guests tho. The hostel has different room options with the cheapest one being a mixed dorm with 6 beds, I think I paid around $50 per night and it really depends on the time of the season for price fluctuations. They have more private rooms for more expensive which is a nice option if you are staying with someone you know, however the walls are quite thin here. In the private room, it was located next to the kitchen and you can practically hear everything through them, so not much privacy in that regard. I've met really cool people here and had a great time getting to know some of them. I even saw a person from my first trip on my second one as well! I also got to snowboard with some of the people in the dorm I shared which was awesome. You meet people of all walks of life here. The kitchen situation was straightforward, there are 2 fridges and you label your stuff with a sticky label and a sharpie with your name and checkout date. There are also communal dishes and utensils and a microwave, but so stove/oven so be prepared! I did see a mouse on the very first night I stayed there too but it was one of the cute small ones hahah. There's one bigger personal bathroom on the first floor and then the shared ones upstairs. The location is also prime for walking to the gondola and it's near some great restaurants. ---- Overall: my new go-to spot for staying in Mammoth, great for solo travelers or friends who want somewhere affordable to stay at, many pros to this place that outweigh its cons

The place is clean and well-kept, with a nice kitchen that guests can use, which is a big plus. Rooms are simple--some with bunk beds, others private. We booked our own room, which worked out well and was a good value for the price. Important note: don't leave food in your car. A bear had ripped into someone's vehicle for food while we were there, so always store it properly. Overall, a clean, budget-friendly stay with handy kitchen facilities--great for a short stop in Mammoth.

If you are looking for a pleasant stay, run away from this place. Here are the cold, hard facts, backed by proof, leaving absolutely zero room for their "excuses." ​1. UNILATERAL AND FRAUDULENT CHARGE FOR LACK OF MAINTENANCE The absolute lowest point of my stay was a whopping $200 charge on my credit card, processed unilaterally and completely outside of the official Booking.com channel. Their "justification"? Alleged damage to a screen door. The truth is quite different: the screen door in question was dilapidated, flimsy, and worn out--clear proof that these accommodations are far from luxury and that maintenance is nonexistent. It broke loose simply because my TWO-YEAR-OLD son leaned gently against it. Instead of taking care of the mandatory and long-overdue maintenance of such outdated structures, this resort prefers to extortionately overcharge its guests. I have received no receipt, invoice, or any proof regarding the withheld amount. This is a fraudulent and predatory practice, aimed at extracting money without any paper trail. ​2. UNLIVABLE CONDITIONS AND APPALLING FILTH The accommodation turned out to be an absolute living hell. Although air conditioning was explicitly listed among the amenities at the time of booking, the facility completely lacked it. It was literally suffocatingly hot. As a substitute, we were provided with a fan that was not only completely useless at cooling the room, but also incredibly loud and caked in dirt. To make matters worse, the hygienic conditions were embarrassing: we found dead bugs inside the tent, and the floors were so filthy that after walking barefoot for just a few minutes, our socks were completely stained pitch black. A total lack of respect for the most basic hygiene standards. ​3. SHAMEFUL MANAGEMENT AND UTTER DISRESPECT FOR FAMILIES Despite booking a full 6 months in advance, we were assigned a unit located in an impossible position for a family. To reach the nearest restroom, we had to climb a staggering 70 steps. How can a property assign such an accommodation to a family with two children, including a two-year-old, along with a stroller and heavy luggage? It shows an absolute lack of common sense and basic respect for guests, especially those who book half a year ahead precisely to avoid such hardships. When I pointed out the issue at check-in, the receptionist rudely brushed me off, stating "we are fully booked"--which I highly doubt given my advance reservation. ​CONCLUSION: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort does not deserve even a single star. Their financial practices are sketchy and potentially fraudulent, cleanliness is nonexistent, the amenity descriptions are misleading, and their room assignment logic is absurd. Do not let the location fool you: this is a terrible place that you must avoid if you want to protect the peace of your vacation. ​N.B. to the owner: I have read your aggressive and defensive replies to other negative reviews. I'm so glad we stayed here. We were two adults and one child and stayed in a private family room with one bed and a bunk bed. The bunk beds have little curtains which our kiddo liked. I didn't totally trust that the barrier on the top bunk was high enough to prevent my kiddo from falling off so I had her sleep in the bottom bunk. The room was small but we knew that and it was enough space for three of us. We loved how it was decorated down to the individually wrapped towels in the bathroom. No TV which I also liked and forced us to hang out together! We were on the second floor and there were comfy rocking chairs on the deck where we sat at night and enjoyed our wine. We were able to borrow the wine glasses in the community kitchen which was very convenient. We also spent time on the couches outside the kitchen and the Adirondack chairs in the yard - just a lot of open places to hang out which was nice. The airstream store is super cute. We didn't get a chance to try their coffee but did buy one of the treats and also some gifts from the gift shop and played yard games in front. Schatt's bakery is next door which was a nice bonus and we grabbed breakfast there in the morning and brought it back. The entire property was clean and well maintained. Walking distance to the bowling alley where we went for a couple hours to play and also get a delicious steak (yes from the bowling alley cafe - no joke!). We'd definitely stay here again when passing through Bishop.

Some people and places come into your life for a reason…read more We had a good feeling about Cyndi's from the beginning. From the moment we rolled in, we relaxed our breath into the cradling caring arms of Cyndi's Snowline Lodge. Natural darkness descending around us- Robert was quick to invite us into the warmly lit communal lodge area, which was brimming with personality. He showed us a fun silverware balancing bar trick, while Lucky the dog, looked on with heavy lidded amusement. We were the only ones staying at the lodge that night. Our room was darling and clean and smelled fresh. The wi-fi was working well. We slept unbelievably well. Showering was a dream in the morning with strong hot water pressure. Cindi brought us up fresh squeezed orange juice and invited us down for a hot lovingly made breakfast spread - which included hot waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, and light potatoes. We also indulged in wondrous coffee and an impressive selection of tea. Cindy even had Pink Himalayan Salt on hand for us to adorn our food - which we indulged in both there and on our backpacking adventure. Cyndi and the rest of the loving folk who help run this charming lodge take immense care and pride in making sure that all those who stay here feel welcomed and taken care of. They go out of their way to make everyone's stay both memorable and comfortable. We can't wait to come back to Cyndi's Snowline Lodge. Trust.

Raven, one of the camp hosts arrived and attempted to resuscitate him but our pet was gone. Raven did what he could to give Aztec dignity and preserve him until we could make it down the mountain. He also went over and beyond to comfort our family in such a difficult time. I cannot thank the staff at Vermilion for the true warmth and comfort we were provided in our time of need. I didn't get the name of the wonderful woman working the Cafe register on Friday night of 8/30. She also went over and beyond in assisting us with reaching our son and ease my pain. You are all amazing. The campground is as beautiful as the people there.

The last day we were there, smoke from fires south of the Kings Canyon rolled in. But wasnt bad. The camp host was very informative-and nice. Did not see any bears. And some mosquitos..! Great hikes. go to Devil bathtub. and others if possible. Mono Hot springs was nice as well. stop in Fresno and Take plenty of food and water as the campstore is very expensive. The road to get there is one lane and you will need an SUV or a truck. Be careful and drive slow!!

Heavy winds from 20-30 miles per hour with gusts ranging from 40-50 mph. I checked CalTrans every hour over night and they finally made the call for chains required on the 395, travel cautiously if you must drive warning. Crystal was very helpful and understanding of the weather situation along with delays in driving. I have never driven in those conditions and every forum related to mammoth mountain (Facebook and Instagram) said it was safe to stay out if you weren't in Mammoth already. Crystal, with the help of my Expedia agent, refunded my reservation despite their cancellation policy. Thank you so much Crystal! I can only say great things about my experience here booking with you and Edelweiss lodge. Thank you for your compassion and doing what you could to help us!

We were booked in suite 5, which does NOT look anything like the room shown on the website. It is old, dark and dingy. Even the front door lock was loose (as mentioned by another reviewer). I had made the reservations for my friend and me, and when we walked into suite 5, we both just deflated at how junky it looked. I wanted to show my friend how it didn't look anything like the website, but their internet didn't work at all until the next morning. The outdoor area is not lit up and welcoming, but dark and deserted. We made the best of it for that night, and in the morning, I contacted the owner via text. When I said that the room looked nothing like the rooms shown on the website, the reply was, "All of our rooms are different." So why don't they show photos of all of their rooms??? They offered to move us to another room, and I requested one that looks like the one on the website. They instructed me to find the key for suite 1, and that room was great! Looked just like the website, and was exactly what we were expecting. It was weird that this room was not rented out, but yet they didn't put us in that room in the first place. I later learned that we were charged $199 for the first night junky room, and $109 for the second night room that looked like the one on the website. That was contrary to what I remembered from the price listing on the website when I made the reservation, which I believe was $159 per night. But when you receive your confirmation email, there are no prices listed at all. I know it comes out to the same price, but it's very strange that the price/total isn't listed on your confirmation email. I would have asked if I had noticed it before we arrived. I really wanted to like this inn, but next time, I'll just stay in the heated cabins in Yosemite Valley for $155/night. The one-hour drive to the valley from this place wasn't worth it for us. If you're going to stay here, ask them specifically what room you will be in and if it's one that looks like the ones on the website. If not, consider staying elsewhere. Positive: the cafe is super cute with great coffee and food and nice people!
