Good place. Decent food. I had the blackened grouper which was good. I'd like a little more variety in main courses but I will return.

The Oaks Club and Cedar Bar - Gumbo. Delicious

From good to not so good. I was taken to the Oaks Club by…read moremy wife for my 80th Birthday, as we had previously attended on a Thursday night for their Prime Rib special. The previous time was an experience I will never forget because I had the best Prime Rib experience of my life. This time however was a complete opposite. First, after the salad; which was nothing to write home about, we sat at least for 30 minutes waiting for our Prime Rib, and was then told by our waiter that our order had been "lost". So now we sat for an additional 15-20 minutes until our Prime Rib's appeared. And let me tell you, it wasn't worth waiting for, whatsoever. I had asked for an end-cut medium rare and what I got was more well done than rare. Anyway, I remembered how it previously had melted in my mouth, this time it was pretty tough, not what I was expecting. So, a very disappointing time was had.

Tried the pork wings and fried green beans. Nice apps from the bar. Ever thought I would rave about fried green beans but they were delicious! And the bbq pork wings could be a meal. Great spot with a great view of the river. Bartender was awesome. Very friendly. Lots of great southern hospitality! Went back for dinner and our server Robert was on point. Great suggestions and very attentive. Very good food and pretty reasonable.

Cocktails are beautifully presented, esp recommend the lemon drop martini. It's in a converted Ponderosa Steak House location so that's a little weird, but they've upgraded it as well as possible. Store on left side of cafe also has nice gift options and outstanding choices of flavored olive oils and vinegars.

We sat at the bar but learned the Tuesday special was a flight of three bartender choice wines 2 oz pours for $15. Evidently the Wine tasting thing was not current. We've seen many restaurants don't update their web site so it's always a gamble when you show up. Not sure if it was an open table thing or the restaurant. Either way we enjoy wine so my wife ordered a red flight and I ordered a $6 happy hour Italian Pinot Noir. The Pinot was fine and decent pour and my wife sampled the flight. One of the wines was a little off and we both thought it may have soured. She mentioned it to the bartender and he shrugged it off and said it wasn't an old bottle. Mentioned it again and no big deal. Might have been nice to at least offer something else. I'd recommend ordering a glass of what you like rather than waste the $15. For dinner I wanted to try the seared pork ribeye but they were out of stock so I settled for the short rib sandwich on ciabatta bread. My wife ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which she enjoyed and thought was fine. The short rib sandwich was tasty enough but the bread was soft like it came out of a plastic bag. I was hoping for a better quality bread which is important for a sandwich. It wasn't something I would order again. Overall it's a really quaint place with isles of olive oil and items to purchase but the experience was a 2.0 and the food average 3.0 at best. I really expected a bit more especially from the look and feel of the place. Not sure I could get around to wanting to go back to try anything else on the menu. Bartender was nice but overall just not a good experience after a long day of work. I feel bad to leave an unsatisfactory score but I upped my 2.0 to 3.0 as ratings are important and it's probably at least a 3.0.
