The owner has always gone the extra effort to get me where I need to go. I probably won't use this service purely based off of an interaction I overheard between a driver and passenger. I'm not sure whether the man was being picked up or dropped off, but I was disgusted by how the driver (I don't know her name, obviously) spoke so rudely and bluntly to the man because of the way he smelled. He asked her a question I couldn't hear, but did hear her response: "I don't know, sir, try taking a shower". Try having a little more compassion. read more

Called and reserved a taxi for 5 people day before when it was needed. They said $30.00 and we agreed that was absolutely fine and made sense for the short drive. We called morning of and confirmed everything. Driver arrived on time and said it would now be $75.00; take it or leave it. Due to the function we were going to, had no choice but to just do it. Then driver refused to take us until we paid!! Again, because we were now running behind we just had to deal but will NEVER use this lying, money hungry company again! The driver that showed up to pick up my patient was so f*cking rude. Pick up time was supposed to be at 6 am, the patient was already waiting at 5:30 am in the lobby, the driver showed up at 5:35am and was off the bat so impatient and rude. He kept checking his phone and saying we need to go when he was 25 minutes early. You can tell he was not happy. The patient had dropped his water bottle and I was helping him pick it back up when the driver was banging on the door telling him to hurry up. I pulled my patient's luggage and the driver reached his hand out to take it from me and I said I would pull it and see him to the car. The driver rolled his eyes and started walking. My patient is an elderly man that takes his time walking and it had just rained the night before so the road was wet. The driver tossed the luggage into the back and slammed down the trunk. He rolled his eyes again at my patient as my patient went around him to get to the opened door. I really wanted to yell at the driver what the f*ck his problem was but I didn't want him to refuse to transport my patient. He sped off even before my patient had the time to strap on his seatbelt. Black Tie Taxi, do better. Hire decent drivers or at least educate them on how to be a decent human being with manners. read more

Hired service to take us to and from a winery in the hills without great cell service. Same driver dropped off and picked up, was 20 minutes late to pick up - we had to call the company twice from the winery. Because he was so late, we missed our following appointment. After arriving, driver made a variety of excuses as to why he was late, including people j-walking on Main Street in front of him. Lame. Uber would have been better. read more

Wouldn't even give them 1 star!! I booked round trip rides months in advance for a formal party at a winery for a Friday at 5:30 with an 11:00 pickup. Our hotel concierge also confirmed the day before the event. At 6:15 pm the taxi still had not picked us up and the concierge could not contact them because the line was busy!! Maybe the worst taxi experience in my life, Domaine Caneros called this taxi service because all of our phones had died. Normally, we only use Uber or Lyft. Black Tie did arrive in a resonable time, but wen the driver picked us up she made a call on speaker telling someone where we were going. The driver said we would be charged $30.00 for 4 miles!!!! What a rip off, we had just Ubered for less than half. I told her to let us out and she would not and dropped us off. When I left the car she told my boyfriend to get a new girlfriend, I was completely discusted by this experience and will contact the BBB. read more

Not good, not good. These guys were late, rude, and charge a fortune! They were called by the hotel I was staying at when my friends and I needed a 3 mile ride to a winery. $30 each way?! Seriously? I understand they compete with the limos in Napa and that's why they can charge so much. You expect them to know how to get to the Yountville Crossing when they are already in Yountville, not to go 70 mph on a 45 mph road, and you expect not to have to perform an emergency tracheotomy on your 3 mile journey. (I literally thought the driver might keel over and expire right there). I will never use this company again. If they show up, I will walk. read more

They are SUPER rude, and are seriouslly breaking the law. The driver we had started the meter, and then turned it off about a block down the road and told me that it would be a flat $25 dollar charge. As I informed him that he was breaking the law, he called his disbatch and asked how much it was and the lady came over the radio and said $20. SHADY! One of my friends in the cab with us is a Sheriff's Deputy and told the driver that he gets paid to take people like him to jail which really set this guy into total FREAK OUT mode. He started screaming and yelling at us wanting to fight. We politely declined his request. IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO I WOULD!!!!! (I believe I just read this exact same sentiment when I scanned previous reviews). There's not a whole lot more I can say that hasn't already been said about this sketchy company! My fiance and I wanted to take a taxi from the Napa Valley Lodge to the Red Hen Cantina (5.2 mile distance). The hotel called this company for us and it was RIDICULOUS! First of all like mentioned in other reviews, they DON'T USE METERS!...I do think this is illegal. We were told it was a 25$ flat rate. That is effing ridiculous to go 5 miles, but what else could we do at this point? But the worst came on the way BACK!...First of all, I called 2 other taxi companies from the cantina in hopes of AVOIDING this company for the return ride, but they all had hour long waits, so of course, we got screwed hardcore style again. I said I needed to taxi back 6 people, did they have a taxi of that size? No. Okay, so then I need 2 cars, how long? 20 mins. Fine. Well the first one showed up in about 20 mins. with no other car. We asked the driver where the 2nd car was and he said, AND I QUOTE "It's right behind me, less than 5 minutes." Okay fine, we ran back inside, told our other 3 people and left. The first round of us were all the way back to the hotel when I get a text from the rest of our party saying, "We're still waiting, can you call and see where they are?" this was TWENTY MINUTES AFTER THE DRIVER SAID LESS THAN 5!!!!!! So I called, and he said, "Oh yes, they're on their way, should be there right now." Another 15 mins later and the guy finally showed up...once our party got to the hotel we figured out IT WAS THE SAME DRIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He blatantly LIED to us & said the other car was right behind him when he planned all along to drive us to the hotel turn around & drive all the way back to get them. I would give this company a ZERO if I could. To reiterate what other reviewers have said, this is a very sketchy company and their management is incredibly rude. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. We were staying at a hotel in Napa and called the front desk for a taxi. They called this company, and after we were all loaded in the car and had gone about a mile, I asked the driver why the meter wasn't running. He informed me that it was a flat rate of $50 to go LESS THAN FIVE MILES. I asked him why we were not told of the rate before we got in the cab, to which he replied it was the hotel's responsibility to tell me. Yeah right. I called their management to ask why it was a flat rate and why we were not told of it. Now keep in mind, while I am not rich, my friends and I have no problem paying a flat-rate taxi. However, we should know ahead of time that it is a flat rate, so that we could choose to use another company if we thought it would be better. We never got this option. The manager was incredibly rude on the phone, even telling me to "call back and apologize" when I wasn't able to find another company that would take us back to our hotel for less than $50. Guess what? We used Napa Valley Cab, the driver was polite, and it was $17. SCREW YOU BLACK TIE TAXI. We told our hotel about this company and they will no longer be using them. No cab for the reserved pick up time. Lied and told us another couple was waiting when they arrived. When the driver showed up 35 minutes later he couldn't find the front entrance. We called, no answer, called again to hear from a rude guy - a BS story they picked up someone else, third call he is just pulling in...10 minutes the driver drove around- had to figure out the location of the front entrance. What a joke. Plus the driver used his cell phone...against the law. Frustrating, cold from waiting outside...never use this company. read more

Black tie is the worst taxi service possible, and not just because of their inconsistency. The operators are always rude and act like they hate their life. They do not show up on time, and thats IF they even show up. Going over the whole story would take to long, but wish I could give 0 stars to this place. They are lucky that Napa has so many bars so they have to be called for service, I think the company knew they were all horrible at what they do so starting business in a place where people were forced to use them was a good move. Highly recommended. They were prompt, courteous and I never felt like we got over-charged. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable their fares were. Our hotel was about 3 miles from downtown. The hotel chose Black Tie for us. Friday night, BT took three of us downtown and the fare was $13 and change each way. I thought that was totally reasonable, particularly given that gas prices had recently shot back up to four bucks per gallon. On Saturday we went to the Silver Oak wine release event and for the three of us they charged a $35 flat rate each way. Cool with me! All in all, we used Black Tie for a total of 8 trips in 2 days and there wasn't a single glitch with any of them. read more

Auberge du Soleil called Black Tie Taxi to transport our party of 10 back to our respective hotels in downtown Napa. Two vehicles arrive: one good size van and another large car. Perfect. I was prepared. I had a print out of all the hotels to which we needed delivery. A print out, people. Not some incomprehensible verbal stutter, but hotel names, addresses & phone numbs in black & white. What did Black Tie proceed to do? Drop my parents off at the wrong location. It's almost midnight. And they have luggage. Sure - this could've been an honest mistake. So my dad asks for the driver to wait a sec so that he could walk up to the door and confirm w/the concierge. Driver says "NO. He needs to go. Has another pick up!" And drives away. Now my parents and their luggage are standing around outside in an unfamiliar area, pissed, and rightfully so BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT DELIVERED TO THE CORRECT HOTEL, of course. Absurd. Luckily a friendly samaritan offered to drive them to the proper hotel for which they had reservations. When we call Black Tie Taxi to let them know about the snafu - they act as if they could care less. It's disgusting. read more

Used their app to order a taxi for our dinner reservation. Made the request at 6:15 for at 7:00 pickup. At 7:20 we called since we now missed our reservation. We're told someone will be there in 15-20 minutes. Gentleman arrived, nice guy, no problem there. But missed our reservation and had to wait 30 minutes for an open table. Tried again after our meal, after waiting 30 minutes we called again and the operator then told us, oh we don't use the app! Great, that would of been nice to know beforehand. Courteous, Punctual, Friendly, Clean, and Affordable. WOW. So impressed by the excellent service and quality vehicles. My wife was in Napa to see a show at the Uptown and her friend had a family emergency and my wife had a couple drinks and wasn't going to get behind the wheel period. So when I called Black Tie they could probably hear the desperation in my voice and could have charged me big bucks since I was at work and couldn't play taxi that night. Dispatch was so helpful and had a driver there in 15 minutes in a shiny immaculate Town Car. After the show another driver waiting outside whisked her away despite the traffic around the venue. All of this for a fraction of the price quoted by other services in the area. For your night on the town or wine country excursion (don't drink and drive ;-) I most highly recommend Black Tie Taxi. read more

This is honestly one of the worst taxi cab companies I've ever used. I have an account with them because I need to get to a standing appointment every Tuesday and Thursday. I can only think of a handle full of times that their cars have been on time when picking me up from by pickup and drop off locations. Most of the drivers are not not or friendly and have attitudes. The third night we had an older gray white dude that took us a way longer route to get to our destination. Total BS. He was trying he rip us off and when I called him out on it he offered a discount. Four of us were planning to spend the night at the Silverado Resort and going to a winery dinner, and did not want to drive. After determining that we did not have many choices for car service in the Napa area, we took our chances with Black Tie this weekend. I called the week before, explaining our plan, and was told to call back the night before we needed the ride. And we did, asking for a pick-up at 6:00 for a 7:00 dinner, adding in buffer time, because we knew they were going to be late based on all the bad reviews. And also asked for a return ride at 10. We were quoted $45.00 flat each way for the twenty minute one way drive. I was kind of nervous as we did not call the day of to confirm. But lo and behold...at 6:00 ON THE DOT, up pulled a Black Tie Cab. The driver asked for our contact phone number to verify that we were indeed her fare. Of course we got the the winery with plenty of time to spare. The return cab showed up at 10:00 ON THE DOT. Once again asking for our phone number. Both times we rode in a Prius, a bit cozy for five adults, but no complaints here and I rode the hump. Both drivers ended up charging us $40, the metered fare, not the flat rate. Maybe planning ahead and calling the night before made the difference? But all of us would use their service again. read more

My star count really just revolves around the dispatch person who miss quoted me... I repeated the address to my destination as Petaluma more than once, & then also gave him the establishment name (Lagunitas) & specific street address & he quoted me $45 one way for my party of 5- I also emphasized to him how shocked I was to hear how good of a price that was to 'Petaluma.' Needless to say we board our transport only to find out it's double that price- the driver called him to ensure price and he stated that he thought I said 'St Helena.' On the positive side the transport is clean & comfortable and our driver=Gus was very nice. He actually told us to not tip him to make up for it when none of it was his fault. And in all honesty the price equaled what I anticipated. I just feel tricked & frustrated because I felt on my part I was clear. I have a special needs child who contacted black tie for a ride to nowhere. She's 16 years old and she was home alone the driver came to pick her up clearly saw she was a minor and decided it was OK to go ahead and take her to the next town over. She dropped her off after collecting $60 from her. My daughter then spent the next hour and a half trying to get back home. Way to take advantage of a child!! I contacted the manager who couldn't get past herself long enough to simply listen to my concerns, she tried to defend the actions of the driver stating " we pick up kids all the time" completely missing the point. It wasn't like I was asking for her money back, I was simply expressing concern for future catastrophes. Cold, rude, and completely unprofessional. I HIGHLY recommend UBER. Shame on you Black Tie!! My husband and i share a car today he had the car at work and our two year old son had a doctor's appointment i had planed to take a taxi and pick the car up on his lunch. Realizing i only had a half hour window to pick up the car i called in advanced for a scheduled pick up at 1130 his lunch ends at 12. My son and i got bundled up and waited outside in the rain. The taxi still hadn't arrived by the time i called back at 1145 at which time i was informed that the driver was on his way but it was already to late by the time they would have got there my window of opportunity had past. It takes more then 10 min to get to my husbands work. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE MISSED MY SONS DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. THANKS BLACK TIE. I guess a phone call would have been to much to ask. read more
