This makes it a great spot to start or end the day. Scrambled eggs with avocado toast - this was excellent. Big enough to share. A good amount of eggs, and they were whipped up in a unique and delicious way. Flat white with oat milk. This was my go to coffee drink in Spain. It's strong espresso with a little foamed up oat milk. Excelllent. Very nice staff. It's a casual vibe here and the decor is very modern and airy. Comfortable to sit back and enjoy a beverage, while charging your device or chatting with someone. read more

Cool coffee shop with a relaxed vibe. Plenty of bench seating for people to share as well as round tables. Service takes a while but the coffee drinks are definitely good. The specialty drinks are creative and fun to try. I got the moka, nice and chocolatey. Highlights especially are the homemade marshmallows. They don't look very pretty but were delicious topped on the moka. They also have a good variety of cakes, pastries and cooked food as well. read more

Stunning space, unique vibes, and overall a great cafe. I came here on a lovely Friday afternoon to get some work done. Though the Gothic Quarters are always quite busy with tourists, Black Remedy wasn't too full. I ordered a Black Remedy tea (similar to an English breakfast) and cappuccino, and settled in at one of the long tables. I especially liked the double-walled glass cup for my tea. I usually listen to my own music, but every once in a while I had to take out my earphones as they played some of my favourite songs (i.e. Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae). I will definitely be back to try some of their food, especially as this is one of my favourite areas of Barcelona. read more

Located in the charming Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, Black Remedy advertises its smoked meat sandwiches on its window. They also had some amazing looking desserts as well, though we did not try them. We ordered the smoked Roast Beef sandwich and the smoked Chicken sandwich. Both were extremely flavorful and absolutely finger-licking good! The sandwiches were warm and made to order. The Roast Beef sandwich was on toasted bread with cheese and onions packed inside. The Chicken sandwich had a fresh slaw and sweet bbq glazed smoked (so tender) chicken. Often on our trip overseas, we desperately sought out coffee shops that would allow us to rest, recoup and recharge after a long day of walking. Black Remedy was on my list of bookmarks in the Gothic Quarter and they didn't disappoint! The automatic sliding doors welcome you to a chic, contemporary coffee house serving espressos, fresh pressed juices, local beer and sandwiches. With a variety of options to appease just about anybody, I was shocked that they weren't more crowded. The chairs were comfortable and the space impressive. The servers happily accommodated our request to sit and chill, ordering a few coffee and beers over a two hour span. They checked on us often, maybe a little too much, since they were twiddling their thumbs. They house Garage Beer Co. on tap (three I believe), which is a local Barcelona brewery paving the craft beer movement in Spain! There was some confusion with the changing of the kegs, and although my beer had way too much head, it was hoppy and smooth nonetheless. In my opinion, Black Remedy is the future of coffee shops. We learned that coffee is more of a grab and go thing in Europe, compared to a set up shop for a few hours thing in the States. But it's vibe and appeal are miles ahead of American coffee shops! read more

Great find in the Gothic Quarter! Very hip and modern with lots of space to get work done. I ordered the matcha latte with oat milk and my husband ordered the cafe con leche. I found this place after reading all the other amazing Yelp reviews and it did not dissapoint!!! The location is fantastic and the atmosphere is open, chic and hip. The staff was super friendly and spoke to me in English but let me try and practice my Spanish with them (I appreciate their patience) I had a cappuccino and avocado toast and it was delicious. Black Remedy was our group's unofficial meeting hub every morning during our recent stay in Barcelona. Located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter and steps from many of the city's historic buildings, the vibe inside is sleek, stylish, and cozy. I started every day with an iced vanilla latte and a hearty scrambled egg avocado toast (pictured here). On my last day, I got a chocolate croissant, which was excellent. In related news, Americans just can't figure out how to do croissants... but apparently everyone in Europe can. They have free wifi with a two-hour limit (just need to input your email), several outlets to charge your phone and computer, and it was always easy to find a table. Bonus! Strolling through the streets of Barcelona and stumbled upon this cute little cafe with a very interesting sense of style. There's an ominous poison black bottle on the front door, but nothing to fear, this place is great for coffee and breakfast. I ended up having scrambled eggs on avocado toast and it completely hit the spot after a long red-eye flight from the US earlier that morning. Coupled with their tart pink lemonade I was recharged and ready to tackle the city head on! The interior really reminded me of an Amazon office, very bare bones, simplistic, with unconcealed air ducts and metal seats. Not entirely my scene, but I think it fits the crowd we found inside. The service was solid and the staff were pleasant when dealing with my horrible Spanish skills. I'd love to go again, next time hopefully to get a better taste of their beer offerings! read more

This is a great coffee shop in Barcelona. If you are a tourist looking for your coffee fix, come here. The place looks like a hipster food lab, with minimalist decor and ample spaces. They have all kinds of brewing styles - espresso, cold brew, aero press, nitro... and the beans are sourced from micro-roasters. They also have food - that I can bet is vegan friendly (to keep with the theme). I haven't tried, but I will guess is good. I did try a nice latte that was well crafted and flavorful. Coffee was pretty good, mint lemonade was tasty. Yes it's a bit expensive but if you don't want to pay the high prices you could go somewhere else. We enjoyed the Greek salad, they did not skimp on the feta. Lots of yummy feta in it! And the veggie sandwich. We sat in the comfortable chairs... Cool looking place, hipster vibe going on. Menu items are common in a North American modern AM eatery. Although menu says "breakfast all day" they close the kitchen at 4:00 which we didn't know, but the cashier told us he would do an exception. The employees started arguing. I ordered the Mediterranean toast which has a poached egg, when the food came out the "poached eggs" were more like hard boiled eggs, the taste was bland, and avocado slices looked thrown on the toast. Now one of our regular go too's for a coffee hit. Really good drinks list, without being ridiculous and over the top. Not just coffees, but also teas and juice. Nice cakes, some of which are vegan and very well made. Really delicious. Good value for money I feel, especially with cake and sandwich portions. Staff are always super friendly and welcoming, good service without feeling rushed. Seems to have a good mix of locals and tourists without being too loud and bustling. Big space, really nicely decorated and modern, but still comfortable. Very easy to sit and loose an hour or so with a book or friends. Great location too, really central without being on one of the hellish busy streets. All round excellent coffee place, definitely recommend, ditch the chain coffee for sure. read more

capucchino 4.20€ caffe con leche 2.50€ i asked a caffe con leche like i have did few times in this place and she try to charge me for a capucchino.., i ask explication and she says well we consider it as a capucchino when you ask wiht more foam, and i tell her that i have took it more times and if is not possible i just leave and go another bar and only then she agree. the decor of the place is nice but you need also quality. price are justified. read more

Popped in here for lunch--they're a breakfast and lunch cafe, closing late in the afternoon. We ordered a Gazpacho, Mango/arugula salad, and a smoked chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce. The gazpacho was decent, though the flavors were not explosive and didn't pop in the palate, with a grainy texture. If I hadn't had the pinnacle of gazpachos the day before, and if I weren't comparing it, Black Remedy's version would've been fine. Also, to be fair, this was not the Catalan version, but more the Andalusian style, which is an emulsion with olive oil. The chicken sandwich I found the meat to be a bit tough and the BBQ sauce to be one-dimensional, though again: serves me right to go to Spain and compare it to a Southern BBQ--unfair, right? The salad was the best, a bit on the dry side, though admittedly this is coming from a Californian obsessed and spoiled with fresh produce. The greens were fresh, peppered with rocket and mango slices. We also had their "lemon pie," a riff on lemon merengue--a slice of dense pseudo lemony curd on an even denser caramelized crust, topped with a froth of browned merengue. I hated it: it tasted processed and overly artificially sweet, but my husband loved it. Of course, if I could run an IV drip of sugar into his vein, he'd be a happy, so not sure if he's the best judge of desserts--if it's sweet, he's on board ready to sign on the dotted line. The vibe is modern and hipster ready, sleek surfaces, friendly fast service, and the prices are right. It's a terrific option for a quick lunch, cafe style, people sitting at tables with their laptops with coffee's ... if I lived here, despite the less than rave-worthy food, I'd be coming here regularly for the service, price point, and quality of the coffee drinks. read more
