Outstanding customer service! I live out-of-state, but I saw a frame that I liked on the Eye Bar's website, and sent a message. I didn't expect Stacey Plank, one of the owners, to respond. She replied quickly, explained that my color choice had been discontinued, sent me photos of the available colors, and other frames available. Each time I sent a message, she responded promptly and very courteously to my questions regarding additional frames I saw online, lens measurements for progressive lenses, and insurance information. When Anne et Valentin, the manufacturer, reopened in New York City, she contacted them for order turnaround time. He quickly identified our needs and provided us with many great selections. He took his time to find us the perfect style. I love the Eye Bar and had a really wonderful experience buying glasses there. Let's review... 1 - You can make an eye appt. online. Can everyone PLEASE get hip to this? The internet is not going out of style, and being able to schedule appointments online makes people happy. 2 - Talking to the staff at Eye Bar is practically like having your own personal shopper for eye wear. They're really great at getting to know your style, pulling glasses for you (while happily letting you pull your own), and scrutinizing every pair just at intensely as you do. I mean, choosing glasses is a major commitment, and they totally get that. When I was there, they even took pictures with their iPad (I just typed eyePad there first...yikes), so you can see what they look like in a picture. 3 - They have a dog in the store, and let's face it, I'm a sucker for little shops that have a dog. 4 - Great brands. Cool stuff I haven't seen anywhere in my history of glasses shopping. Keep in mind, this isn't a Lenscrafters, so you're not going to get your glasses in an hour. It probably took about two weeks. It's also probably pricier than a Lenscrafters, but the available options and personalized service are pretty special. I can also take them back if my lenses get scratched, and they give you unlimited glasses cleaner (you can take the bottle back to get it refilled with it runs out). Having recently realized that my already super craptastic vision had gotten even more craptastic, I began the search for a new optometrist. I was looking to avoid a doctor inside a chain, as I've not had the best experiences with that (big surprise, I know), but not having insurance I also needed to be mindful of the price. After some Yelping I came across the Eye Bar, and decided to make an appointment after taking to one of the girls at work who had seen Dr. Rick before. Their online appointment booking is beyond convenient and very simple, and pricing seemed reasonable and is listed right on the website, which I really appreciated ($55 for a basic eye exam, more if you wear contacts). Dr. Rick was super nice and very personable. He didn't drag out the exam or push me to get my eyes dilated (which happened to me at a chain once). If you are looking for good optometrist, 5 stars all the way! The thing that knocked them down a star happened when I went to check out... After checking out the frames in their web store I knew they were going to be out of my price range for new frames and lenses. I'm currently rocking Ray Bans, which were about $100 cheaper than anything I was looking at on their site. I was a little worried that they might pressure me into trying on frames at my appointment, but thankfully that wasn't the case. Instead, when I said I had found frames I really liked from a small online company and would need my pupillary distance measurement, she told me that would be an additional $15. Something about how they are legally responsible for the measurement so they charge for it because online companies are not opticians. I guess it's a small thing really, and for all I know this is common practice, but it just seemed a bit odd and felt like a small jab at me not wanting to get frames there. Maybe I'm just being ridiculous. She did tell me to feel free to bring in the new glasses once I get them and they will check all the measurements and the fit, which was nice and I will probably do. Overall it was a good experience and the staff were all very nice. They seem to have a great selection of unique frames, so if you don't mind dropping a small fortune I would definitely check them out (and if not, still go see Dr. Rick!) read more

Loved my entire experience here! The staff is extremely helpful, and they all own multiple pairs of glasses! Most importantly, they were very patient with me...my indecisiveness made it hard to make a decision! There were so many great choices. They even had the ability to take pictures of me modeling my various choices and load them to an ipad so I could see how I truly looked. While I pondered over my decision, they even offered cold drinks to me. It also helped that the owners' adorable dog runs around the store. Eye glasses, & contact lenses....if you need them what can you do? If you've worn them since 3rd grade like I have, you've probably been to a million optometrists, opticians, and other tongue twisting professionals. And let's face it, Eye Exams SUCK! You're stuck in a chair, squinting at teeny letters, hoping your Coke Bottle lenses won't get ANY thicker. And if you're at Wal-M*$rt then you get to pick from a bunch of cheap, crummy frames pushed at you by a distracted "Optician" slurping a Big Gulp and chatting on her cell phone. Thankfully, this was NOT my Experience at the Eye Bar! First off, it's located in one of St. Louis' most beautiful historic neighborhoods; the Central West End. The Eye Bar is NOT in a crummy strip mall off some nameless highway. But DON'T expect the staff to be snooty! They're really nice, down to earth professionals. The day I went a little fluffy dog named "Jango" was frolicking about the spacious office. The exam room is in the basement down some long narrow steps. But don't freak out! The Eye Doctor was awesome. He made the squinting pocess way easier and was happy to explain things to me about my eyes that NO doctor ever has in the 40 years I've been wearing glasses. I truly left better informed. When it was time to choose frames the person helping me actually looked at my face, current glasses, and suggested numerous styles which looked great on me. Wish I could recall her name (a blonde woman) but it truly seems any of the staff there will give you stellar, personalized service. Another thing I liked about the doctor and staff is that they respected MY opinion about "Bi-Focals" AKA Progressive Lenses. Truthfully I do need them, and they sound much better than what my grandparents wore. However I talked with them about my profession (Photographer/Videographer) and flat out said I want to stick with single vision. Instead of trying to guilt-trip me into Bi-Focals, the staff were considerate and happy to let me stick with Single vision lenses. The sales person even suggested frames I can look down through without sliding glasses down my nose. How cool is THAT? Medical professionals who actually listen to you! They have a financing option, and take ALL major insurance plans. They are also happy to write your script on paper and let you leave without ordering new frames and lenses that day. However I'll certainly be back there soon to buy my new glasses. The customer service is personalized, professional, but very laid back. read more

I was searching and searching for a pair of discontinued (4 years ago) MYKITA sunglasses. I tried 5 other licensed MYKITA dealers before I came across The Eye Bar. I waited months and months from other retailers just to be told they could not get them. The Eye Bar made it happen. They pieced these glasses together for me from all over the world. Just to get me my glasses and custom made the lenses. They gave me back a treasured piece that I thought was gone forever. I will treasure my one of kind MYKITA glasses forever. Aaron spent about an hour in my showroom consultation and eventually helped me pick out a new pair of Matsuda browline glasses. They were also happy to provide new lenses for my current pair of Barton Perreiras that I bought at a competitor that I had a previous negative experience with. The owner even offered to repair another pair that a less careful lab had broken, and assured me that all eye lab work is done in-house. As a new customer, I was very impressed with the professionalism, attentiveness, and helpfulness of the owner and employees. love this place! best selection of best quality glasses! i found this place because i had gone to another place and was dissatisfied with the fitting (or lack of fitting) they had done on my glasses. while there they noticed a mistake in my lenses that required a new lens to be place (something about the fit in the frame). i was so fed up with the other place at this point that i asked the eye bar if they would fix it. they told me they would but they would have to charge me for new lenses and encouraged me to take them back to the place i got them where they would likely replace them for free due to the fact i had just bought them and there was a mistake made. i went back to get my free replacement lenses and have never gone anywhere except the eye bar since! i found this place because i am addicted to oliver people's glasses for their style and durability but they are quite expensive...they helped me look through oliver peoples selection but then also introduced me to other brands that were less expensive that they thought i might like. and they were right! they will also special order anything for you and go out of their way to help you find whatever you are looking for. incredible service, incredible selection. what more could you ask for? read more

The Eye Bar experience is something you just can't describe! I previously purchased eyewear from the big chain shops, but never again! The Eye Bar staff was very friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in the door. The exam was quick and painless. All my questions were answered, and you can believe I had many being a first time progressive lens wearer! They offered me a refreshing drink while I looked over their selection of frames. I always like to support places in st. louis, however i was down at pi eating pizza in the west end last month. I stopped in the eye bar afterward and from the beginning I thought the store was very cold and the customer service was just as bad. There was another customer in the store and apparantly they wanted to help them much more than me. The store had a very small selection and i felt like the staff was very rude so i left quickly to enjoy the rest of my day. The west end is better to go for eating and drinks, i would just have to pass this place up and by my glasses somewhere else. read more

The Eye Bar is completely on point in every capacity. The aesthetic and staff are lovely, helpful, and knowledgeable. The optometrist is friendly and quick. The frame selection is better curated than any I've seen in the city. There are few things, shopping-wise, that are more encouraging than walking into a boutique - knowing you'll shortly be dropping a decent amount of money - and finding a staff that is right on trend and always helpful. Not once did they cross that line into off-putting, placating salesmanship, nor did they become overbearing in their assistance. They did listen to what I was looking for and bring me about 8,000 beautiful options. My frames arrived earlier than anticipated and fit perfectly. Stacey was very attentive when we ran across a billing issue with my insurance. She followed up consistently over the course of almost a week to ensure everything had been smoothly resolved. You don't have to live in St. Louis to experience the excellence of service at The Eye Bar thanks to Stacey Plank who provided me with gracious cross-country service above and beyond that you rarely find these days. I live in Los Angeles but am detained in NY to deal with a family emergency that has been so exhausting that I've fallen asleep on my glasses and smashed the frames twice beyond repair. My frames are out of production. I scoured the Internet for a replacement pair, only The Eye Bar In St. Louis came up as a possible link to my out of production frames. I was skeptical that a store with whom I had no relationship with in a State I'd never been could come through, my bad. Stacey managed to find replacement frames and got them to me in NY by UPS in no time at all saving me the expense of having to buy whole new lenses for a whole new pair of frames. There is a level of caring at this shop not only on the part of Stacey but Taylor too that deserve rich recognition. I have been a yelp user for years, but nothing has gotten me fired up enough to write a review... until now. Shopping for glasses has been a huge struggle for me for years. I have a flat bridge to my nose, as a result my eyelashes always seem to hit the glasses. Usually I wander around a store feeling lost, and I leave empty handed and disheartened hours later. My experience at The Eye Bar was completely different! I walked in and was immediately greeted by two nice employees. They invited me to take a seat while they brought the glasses to me. This initially made me nervous, and I started thinking "they won't understand my eyelashes hitting the glasses issue" and "what if they miss a pair of glasses that would work on me?" I was completely wrong. They listened to everything I had to say. They understood when I said I was looking for thick plastic frames that also had nose pieces. They assured me that they could add nose pieces to any glasses I liked, and they pointed out specific designers who would meet my needs. After only 30 minutes there I had a pile of glasses that looked good on my face (trust me, this has NEVER happened before). They helped me narrow down the search and pick the perfect pair. Great experience! Got an appointment the same day, they were able to work me in no hassle. Very friendly service. I just needed a new prescription for contact lenses. My typical experience with eye exams is usually a huge pain where they try to sell you overpriced lenses and give you a glare when you just ask for a copy of your prescription. The whole process took less than 15 minutes, they handed me my prescription without asking and even recommended the cheapest place online to order from! Did I mention they offered me a beverage (beer) while I filled out the preliminary paperwork? They also have a nice selection of high end frames, but I was already satisfied with my current pair of glasses. They didn't try to get all salesy on me about that either. I have never worn glasses before and now need them at 62. After shopping at all the chain eyeglass stores and not finding anything that I really liked, I tried the Eye Bar. What a difference. In 15 minutes I had a pair picked out. As soon as I walked in they direct me to sit at the "bar". The employees then got glasses for me to try on. They were very helpful in what looked good. The service was way better than most of the chains. They were enthusiastic about helping unlike most of the chains where they just point to the wall where the glasses are and say pick something. I just open a box of contacts and all the contacts were dried out. The manager stated that I stored the contacts wrong. I open the box took out a blister pack and the contacts were upside down which then dried out. Next box the same thing only half of the contacts. Why because the idiots packaged them wrong. I drove 45 minutes to the very over priced Eye Bar because the doctor is awesome, Visit the doctor and take your script somewhere else where the manager cares about all customers. read more

I was looking for Oliver Peoples Sir Finley in a discontinued color. I couldn't find them at my usual optometrists office in California or at the local Oliver Peoples store. My usual optometry place called Oliver Peoples directly and they confirmed they had discontinued the color I wanted and didn't have any in stock either in their stores or factory. I found the glasses on The Eye Bar website but wanted to confirm that they had the glasses in stock so I called. Stacey said she did not have the glasses at this location but she would call around to see if any of their sales reps had them in stock in their other locations. I got a call back about a week later and they found the glasses. I ordered the glasses online right away and received them today, it was perfect, complete with the limited edition case. I just wanted to thank Stacey and the staff for going above and beyond to find me these elusive glasses. Your service exceeded my expectations and I am a very satisfied customer. read more
