I was looking forward to trying Overland Optical in Overland and although the staff was…read moreknowledgeable .... I will NOT be going back! All I wanted was to find an eye doc and staff that would help and listen. Finding a pair of glasses has always been difficult for me. This experience started off hopeful, but after I got my glasses it went downhill! I paid a WHOLE LOT of money for a pair of glasses that have been nothing but trouble and are now causing my vision to be worse. Each time I went back for an adjustment and / or expressed my concerns / worries in regards to how the glasses were working out for me, it always ended with "give it a little longer". On my final visit I was told my glasses were no longer under warranty. OF COURSE NOT! Yes, I accept my part in not knowing the exact date my warranty expired, but as mentioned, when I would go in for assistance I was trusting the experts. It became harder for me to express my concerns as I was now starting to feel very much like a number and once they got my money my concerns were not important enough to be heard. This may not be the case for everyone, but was for me. If anyone knows of an eye doc and staff that truly want to help, please let me know.

I've been buying glasses here for years, even before I could afford it. LOL. But my glasses from…read moreEye Bar/Black Optical have been true investments. This is an optical place for people who truly view their eyewear as jewelry. All three I've purchased (over the course of almost a decade) are ones I regularly wear. The glasses simply don't break like the ones I've bought elsewhere. And when they have small issues--chips, uncomfy nosepads--the folks here take care of them almost always without charge. Black Optical is a story of "you get what you pay for" in every sense.

Prices for contacts or glasses are noticeably less than I had been paying at Clarkson Eyecare…read more Frame selection is less varied but I had no trouble finding some I liked. If the eye doctor changes your prescription after you get the glasses, they will redo them free. Glasses came back promptly after ordered. Beware, however of two things. First, the optical area is ALWAYS understaffed for the number of customers, so expect to wait 30-60 minutes every time you visit. This means you will be helped by a staff person who is hurried and under pressure, with five or more people waiting for you to finish. They have no "line" or even "take a number" system, so you have no idea how long the line actually is. Second, every optical retailer I'm aware of is willing to exchange unopened boxes of contacts if your prescription changes. Not Costco! I purchased contacts in September of 2019. Dr. Steele changed my prescription in February of 2020. I had two boxes of contacts (approx $200) in the old prescription (with an expiration date on the box of 2024) and Costco refused to exchange them because my original contact prescription (NOT my purchase) was more than 12 months old. Happily, I found out 1800Contacts has prices that are better than Costco and they were willing to take back the contacts I purchased AT Costco(!) and fill my new prescription with that credit.....and they were far faster, friendlier, and competent. My advice is that the "savings" isn't worth the hassle, the lack of customer service, and the more restrictive approach to exchanges of contacts.

Beware of Bait-and-Switch Sales Tactics at This Location…read more THE SALE: We specifically requested premium Crizal HR coatings and XTRActive Polarized Transitions lenses that would darken while driving. THE "WAIT 3 MONTHS" TRAP: When the lenses didn't darken in the car, staff told us to give them three months because they would get darker over time. We followed their advice, which pushed us past the 30-day window. THE REVEAL: Within two months, the lenses were also severely scratched. When we later reviewed the order with LensCrafters, we discovered we had received neither the Crizal HR coating nor the XTRActive Polarized Transitions lenses we specifically requested and were told we were getting. THE BLAME: Management then told us we were past the 30-day return window, wanted about $1,400 for replacement lenses, and said we should have caught the abbreviated product descriptions on the receipt. You shouldn't need an optometry degree to decode a receipt and make sure the salesperson ordered what was requested and promised. This is about trust, and LensCrafters completely lost ours.

Person on the phone said yes. When we get to the appointment and she is being seen, the Dr said we don't normally take kids under 10 or 12. And of course he is having issues. Long story short after 2 separate visits and given a prescription which was 100% wrong. My daughter could see even less wearing the glasses. We were told to take her somewhere else. It's like they just wanted to bill our insurance twice. Because now that I'm asking insurance for another evaluation LensCrafters doesn't respond to the first 2 letters and with just a couple days left of their window to respond/ dispute they request to be sent over the paper work again. Pushing my daughter reevaluation out longer than the normal 30 day period. They made the mistake. They told us to go somewhere else.
