Didn't live up to the hype…read more Maybe our timing was partly to blame--we arrived just as they were transitioning from the breakfast/lunch menu to dinner. But that wouldn't explain why the Bolognese sauce on my pasta tasted burned. Before that, I had a Kale Caesar salad made with some of the strangest kale I've encountered. Instead of the more familiar curly or Tuscan kale, it had broad, flat, very chewy leaves. I'm guessing it was Portuguese kale, but whatever the variety, the texture was unexpected and just didn't work in a Caesar salad. Based on this experience, I don't see much reason to return, especially with so many other restaurants in Bismarck to try. The only place I've liked less so far was Firepit BBQ, which was simply awful.

They were correct. There is a solid local crowd and the bartenders knew a lot of the patrons by first name. There is no draft beer, only bottles and they were $4 per beer. They do serve pizza but I didn't see any other food. The staff was friendly and attentive. There was a ton of waitressing staff and they stayed active and engaged. The patrons were friendly, recognized I was new and started conversations. A huge country bar for sure and super friendly. Plus they had good live music after bingo (only stayed for one song). If I were rating based only on the pizza, bingo and extremely fun and friendly service I would rate much higher. Wow! Quite a disappointment!…read more The entire theme is nice. Great selection of classic and craft cocktails. Good selection of bourbons. We had two very good Old Fashions (no cherry). The atmosphere was very "speak easy", in fact it was hard to find...as it should be. Here is the kicker...the place was empty except for four people at the bar. We asked to sit on one of the sofas. No. They are reserved for large parties. This was a Thursday night and, as I said, there were four people at the bar. I was discussing this with the bartender when a guy came up behind us and said we could not sit in any of the chairs or sofas. We could only sit at the bar or or one of two high-tops. He looked like a bouncer and sloppy. I told him if a large party came in, we would gladly surrender our seats to them. Still NO. When we had finished our drinks and left, we were the only people there. The bartender was wearing a tee shirt and a baseball cap backwards. Not the Speak Easy attire. Then a replacement bartender takes over...tee shirt and backwards cap. Speak Easy's are supposed to be classy. Again, the drinks were good and we enjoyed them, but we will not go back. The seating requirements are totally out of line and they need to have employees dressed better. I do not recommend this place.

The owner/Chef is laid back, fun and knows how to interact with his customers and the atmosphere definitely took you out of Bismarck. We will definitely be going back in a few weeks.
