Went here to hear a local singer Peyton Lily Walker. She did a nice blend of Christmas and country music. The place has a chique modern feel and love the decore. I had a couple wine glasses off of the wine bar as well as the wild elk charcuterie board. The flavors were good but value was off on cost to board content. Attentive servers. Decent bathrooms. Think twice before choosing to dine here. The self-serve wine area is very poorly positioned. They placed it at the tightest spot in the restaurant, inevitably causing you to be in the way of any guests or servers try to maneuver around the place while you peruse their wine selection. The wines themselves are over-priced, making the tastings rather pointless, unless you want to sample a few single ounce servings. Service was slow despite there only being one group aside from mine. And my food came out 10 minutes before my girlfriend's. The Elk Sausage and Asiago Gnocchi I got was very good (unfortunately the only good part of our experience here), albeit small. My girlfriend got the Beef and Pork Ragu which was terrible. Much of the pasta in this dish was crunchy. The music was all over the place with staff skipping songs sometimes after a minute into the song. It was also quite loud. We ended up spending $87 for the two of us for a sincerely disappointing experience. I had high hopes for this spot. This was my first time in Bismarck and seeing well over 100 4 star reviews I decoded to bring 2 people to dinner here. I'll start with the good, The gnocchi dish was good and the bruschetta had good flavor but the bread needs to be toasted IMO. Now to the issues. The service was terrible. This is not a restaurant from what I experienced. It's a self serve wine bar that offers food. They didn't have a host or help with seating or even have a sign that says seat yourself. We didn't see a server for about 10-15 minutes and never was offered a refill on water. The BLT was a little soggy, the elk sausage and gnocchi was OK. the app we ordered never came until we asked and then it came 5-10 minutes after dinner. It was the tomatoes bruschetta which had good flavor. The bread should have been toasted though. At the end of dinner we waited a long time for the check and after we paid the bartender even joking said we only get one warning because we were loud the entire time we were there. Not cool to be honest and almost pushed me to 2 stars. Overall it was a terrible experience with underwhelming food and some of the worst service I've experienced in a long time. read more

I really wanted to love the Jousting Lemur because I'm a big fan of the wine bar concept, but I just didn't. To be fair, they are new, so maybe some of these things will get worked out. The staff was very friendly, but the ambiance was somewhat hampered by them having to explain the system to each new customer. Their system requires you to pre-load a card with money which will be drawn down as you visit the wine bar. The challenge is that you always have money left over which you can't use because of the minimum pour from the wine bar. The card system at the wine bar was also really hit or miss. It worked properly for me only about every other time. Now for the actual food and drink. The sandwiches were huge and quite tasty. But the charcuterie plate had only one meat (sopresatta), two really common cheeses (mozzarella and havarti), and some chocolate chips. No fruits, no nuts, no olives, no jam, no honey. It was, in a word, underwhelming. The wine selections (this is, after all, a wine bar, right?) were, in a word, underwhelming. They were all what I would characterize as supermarket wines (although in North Dakota you can't buy wine in the supermarket). I look forward to a wine bar as an opportunity to branch out and try some interesting and unusual wines without having to buy a bottle. Not to pay extra for budget wines by the glass. Came on a Tuesday for lunch. Was immediately greeted by one of the owners. Super cool dude. He showed me how the wine machines work, got me all set up, and then I chose a table. Their wine on tap machines allow you to order either a 1 oz 3 oz or 6 oz pour. I sampled so many but the White Pinot noir was my favorite by far. For lunch I had the club sandwich. It was really good. The bbq spread really made it stand out from other club sandwiches. It comes with a salad or fruit. I got a salad. I wasn't asked what kind of dressing I wanted, it just came with ranch. But I'm a ranch kinda girl so no biggie for me. It was a pretty slow afternoon so I was lucky and had the place mostly to myself, but I can understand what a fellow yelper meant by it taking kind of long for staff to explain to each guest, how to navigate the wine on tap machine. The food was delicious! We had the seared beef tips, salmon toast, and beet and goat cheese salad. All were excellent! Tiramisu and cheesecake were also great. Service was also excellent. All were very friendly and helpful. At first we were not going to try the wine dispenser but we changed our minds. I was glad we did. It was fun trying and comparing different wines. The place is also very open and welcoming. We are definitely adding The Jousting Lemur to our list of Bismarck favorites. read more

We stopped in to try the new wine bar via an invite from a another restaurant owner. The food was amazing (try the smoked salmon toast), the wine (Lost Poet red) was perfectly chilled, and the owner was very cordial and fun. We had great fun with family/friends in the very comfortable atmosphere. Definitely our new favorite place to stop when we're in town next time.
