It's the only reason we've come back. At first we just assumed it was someone's bad day, but it's a clear pattern each time. "Everybody welcome". Allegedly Intended or otherwise the message is clear we will stop coming. Yogurt is 6$ at other stores and only $3 at Winco For the same brand. A warning for women who go shopping alone. I was almost attacked by a man in the parking lot and had to call the police. He blocked me into my parking spot and got out of his vehicle screaming at me. Just warning people get crazy here, maybe Lacey in General. So I usually take my husband now, and do not go alone. The service is better now, and I have not seen the cashier who was rude before. The customer service people are so nice, quick and helpful. And the cashiers are generally friendly and pretty fast. Their produce is so fresh and as local as they can get it! Oh and they have fresh big bags of basil and mint for like $2! Which is great because I just keep killing the ones I grow somehow. I've never gotten sick from eating their produce, as I do from some of the store's produce, like Safeway's apples. One thing to remember - bring your own bag/box. Sometimes they have extra boxes. And the other thing is - if you're only pick up a couple of things for tonight's dinner, bring cash! You can't use your debit/credit card unless it's over $5, which my orders usually are! They also, usually, have some past-its-prime produce that's heavily discounted! These are great buys to put in smoothies or eat within a day or so. I once got a personal-sized watermelon for $0.50 from that area and it was fabulous! Right now they have eggplants and melons in this area. It changes all the time! This is a great place to go for some beef sticks, they have many different kinds. All locally made. Most just $1.75 and super tasty!!! The cream of their crop (in my opinion) is their housemade Pico de Gallo and Guacamole! You can thank me later for that tip!! Lots of times I go there and they are all sold out of these gems. They are so good though that I check back often.

The deli staff are amazing every single time! The food is delicious every single time! A tad more expensive than the local Safeway--but I'll spring for it occasionally. Lake Fair weekend though--where do I start... they hire additional persons to monitor the parking lot. I get that, they want parking for their customers, not fair goers. Well, the older guy in the yellow vest.. eek! He's a chatty man. I parked in a shaded area while my oldest son ran into the store to get us some snacks and drinks while we waited for my other son to meet us (he had a temp job with Funtastic). He approached my car while I was waiting... made sure that I was not leaving my car to head over to the carnival--was sure to let me know the manager was on a war path and threatening to tow everyone... stayed to let me know his political stance on why downtown has so many 'bums'. Proceeded to let me know that the only way to change that it to change who we elect and pointed at the Capitol. About 15 minutes pass and my son had returned with our snacks and drinks, the man walks up again to check when we would be leaving... On the bright side--the ladies at the deli counter made me some fantastic fried mushrooms to snack on while I listened to this guy's second round of political garbage.

The service was okay. A few errors such as not meeting me at the section of the counter to hand off the food. For some reason, the lady laid it on the other side. The bread was really greasy from cheap grill oil. This made it a bit hard to eat, but i'm not throwing away a whole roast beef sandwich. An apple is served with the sandwich, but the sticker was still on it and survived them washing it, apparently. All in all, the customer service needs a bit more cheer, and the food needs a bit of help. Simply using a slightly better bread and a bit of butter for grilling will go a long way compared to the saturated diner grill oil. They have kombuchas here as im writing this, so im going to grab one to rinse the cooking oil from my mouth. 3 out of 5 at best. Update. Now 2 out of 5. However, I feel that the Pacific Avenue location's crowdedness makes it a little more fun to discover all the little culinary surprises the store has hidden away. What this location has in favor of it was one little wedge of cheese that we've been looking for forever since we moved to Washington State- a wedge of Brillat Savarin. For me, there is no other brie. One time I was at the Cheese Board Collective in Berkeley to find a blue cheese from Asturias when I saw the Brillat Savarin and insisted my mom get it for a party. She asked why the big deal and I said that it's the closest thing a cheese can get to butter. The cheesemonger standing in front of us looked up from his cheese sorting, looked us with crazy eyes and whispered, "No. It IS butter." He then stopped what he was doing to spread out a runny dab for her on a cracker and my mom saw the light. We were so excited about finally finding this cheese when other people heard my sister singing its' praises and they wanted it. There was only one wedge left, so my sister gracefully let another man have it. I mean, how else do you spread the gospel and make converts until other people have had their own spiritual experience. So we'll be back again with the hope that they restock.

The corn tortillas he used were the best I had ever had and being born, raised and still living in SoCal I have tasted many tortillas (both flour and corn). The corn tortillas held up so very well after a short cook on the griddle, and the taste was fantastic. Before heading home I stopped by the Jalisco Tortilla Factory storefront in downtown Shelton. They had several items for sale, but I was there for the tortillas to take home with me. I selected a 12 count of flour (to try) and a 36 pack of the white corn tortillas. The woman working the counter was very friendly and I asked about the ability of freezing the corn tortillas. She informed me they could be frozen and explained just how to do it so as to preserve them for an extended period of time. After flying back home I tried the flour tortillas first. They were pretty good, but not the best I have had. They were in the top 5 however. However, we made tacos the other night and used those delicious white corn tortillas. I heated them up, slightly toasting them, on a lightly oiled flat griddle skillet to retain the "soft taco" aspect. They were just as tasty and hardy, not breaking apart/through while stuffing our faces. The better half (aka wife) loved them and stated she can never go back to any of the store or restaurant bought tortillas from around here. I am glad I purchased the 36 pack and froze 2/3 of them. I will need to have my brother mail me down a couple packs in the future, as after reviewing their website it does not appear they ship any out (bummer).
