The self checkout lanes are too narrow and the cashier doesn't help keep the carts from blocking the self checkout entrance. This makes it difficult for customers with physical limitations or seniors to navigate the self check out. Cons: (1) Had a white female staff person refuse to take my order at deli. Another female deli co-worker shook her head at that bad employee. (2) Cashiers can be rude and ask odd questions. One kept claiming to know me, I never saw that person a day in my life. (3) On November 18th, 2024: After paying for items, a white male staff member (with glasses) walks outside and stares at me. Has organic produce and vegan cheese although small selection. Does carry small selection of plant based foods including meats in frozen section. Horrible experience in Lacey WA. Overly angry security guard engaged with my eldery patient while I was was taking him shopping. He was aggressive to the disabled man on a scooter over a vape he was holding. He had a hole in his pocket & it kept falling out. He told him "I'm so sorry it keeps falling out I didn't know I was holding it" but thats not what that man wanted he wanted to be angry.... The guy got into the disabled man's personal space & demanded it go in his pocket..... I, as his caregiver giver, listened as he said he would NOT use it numerous times & the guy still engaged in an aggressive manner... I finally asked the guy to walk away & stop being so unprofessional. As a person PTDS due to aggressive men acting like this, I did get angry after asking him to walk away several times, we had agreeded numerous times to his requests. He then started to say "I'll kick you out of here" LOL like we want to continue to shop with an angry guy puffing his security badge in his chest out! We walked to customer service before anyone even asked us to leave.... He continued to engage, asst manager was near by and did we talked to him. He also told me he agreed that was no ok & aggressive of the security guy towards my client! He's 67, has had a stroke, has limited mobility to even try to get away, was in a scooter & put the vape in my pocket once he was near me. The security guard was aggressive finger pointing & agressive speaking at the senior man.... Acting like a puffed up badge holding homeless man. He looks very unkept I didn't even know he was an employee. Then when I went to ask for an actual manager or DM to call me the guy stopped there on his cell pointing at his phone like he was threatening me with the cops... he was the one aggressive and in our space throwing his hands & pointing. Very scared for anyone who is more triggered than me with PTDS in these situation. And god forbid he angers someone who can fight back next time. Very disappointed in this store & the behavior of a man who should be protecting people not scaring the costumer's and harassing an old disabled man.... We drive 2 hours to come shop at Winco because of the prices in our rural community.... And now we have to go someplace else today cause I was too uncomfortable to even stay in that store to finish shopping. The selection and prices at Winco are excellent - brand name foods are significantly less expensive here. When buying staples and grocery items. Canned goods, ice cream, eggs, dairy products are much cheaper. The bakery items are also good.Produce is hit-or-miss; the prices are good, but quality and freshness is inconsistent. Today I got nice limes for $.18 each and they were very fresh. The lemons were $.28 and were dried out. They have a small liquor department with average prices. The fresh meats are so-so; I don't buy meats at Winco except for prepackaged items processed and packaged elsewhere. We picked up a ready to bake pizza for $5 that was surprisingly good, especially for the price. We have been there several times and found employees to be friendly and helpful - always willing to escort us to the items we were looking for. Winco is a good value for shipping. The downside is they don't enforce the mandatory statewide mask policy. Today there were four people not wearing masks, including a middle-aged, healthy looking couple. When I reported this to management, I was told the people had been stopped and all claimed to have a health condition which prevented them from wearing a mask. I saw elderly people and a woman on oxygen - they all wore masks. I told the manager their health issue was no excuse to let them shop inside the store and potentially expose their employees and other customers to the coronavirus. I was told it is "store policy" so I reported them to the WA state coronavirus task force. There is no excuse for any business to allow unmasked people inside when 99% of the other customers are masked up. This cost them 2 stars in my review! read more

Lindsey R. Working in the self check out area. Publicly HUMILIATED ME, she was so rude. I don't want to go back. Because You were having a bad day, you were taking it out on everyone checking out through self check out, ESPECIALLY ME!! You were not friendly, you were not helpful, you were flat out rude, mean, and it was 100% Uncalled for. Normally the staff here is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Lindsey R. Winco chose you for a reason, to be the face, represent, own and help run this company. Be proud of what you do, be proud of you. While your at work, you're in Winco mode, your personal issues need to clock out when you clock in. Winco believes in you. That's why you're there. The employees make a HUGE impact if customers return or not. It's not always the store itself. The store itself is very clean, easy to maneuver, the shelves are always stocked. I'd say 85-87% of the time, when I ask for help I usually get outstanding service from staff employees. I love when I go in, and they take a min from what they're doing, instead of ignoring me like they're a ghost, and just praying to god I don't stop them. So, this is what happened during my visit, I gathered what I needed, organized my items in my cart before I got to the register. One order had 16 items, the other order had 10 items. I knew my anxiety was high, I could feel my heart palpitating as I walked up to the machine. I was planning on using the scanner gun like I do at other places I shop. Because of my anxiety issues, if there's not a self check out where I can leave items in my cart, and use the scan gun, the checker will usually scan everything in my cart for me. If I ask politely. I then pay w my phone to save, but at Winco its debit card only. So, I walk up to the machine and there wasn't a scan gun. I looked over at Lindsey R. and she was with a customer literally pounding on a screen with a mad look on her face, so I instantly withdrew from asking for help!! Quietly, I began scanning each item and just setting it back into my cart, I hit skip bagging because I brought my own bags. I had multiple bulk items & I was going to be moving stuff around, to pack my bags properly. This is EXACTLY WHY I didn't want someone to check me out. So I could take my time. They always start checking out the next person before I'm done bagging my items. Since I had two orders, with bulk items I didn't want to be pressured. Self checkout was my best and only option. I can do this I told myself repeatedly the entire time I shopped. I have extreme anxiety, PTSD, and other mental/chronic Illness I live with, struggle, and fight on a daily basis. Suddenly, the screen beeped for assistance!! I didn't understand why?? You walk over step in front of me to where I have to step back, you huff & puff, pound on the screen and walk away. Not a word to me. I continued my order just praying it wouldn't call again. About 4 items later. BEEP!! She then SCREAMED AT ME from across the checkout area. You can't skip bagging every item Mam. THEN you walk over to me scan you badge, beat on the screen, and walk away. Now, I'm totally flustered. I'm like, well? I don't know what else to do? You walked away before I could ask anything. Your not approachable. Everytime you approach or interact with me it's a scene and an embarrassment!! I instantly look around me to observe people's reactions, and it's a relief to see it's not just me. My PTSD has kicked in full force by now and, I'm ready to just walk out. This happened like 3 more times. I just let it happen. If she's not gonna show me how to work the machine or answer any questions by god I'm gonna finish my check out and get the heck outta here! By now she has me feeling like I'm a THEIF, I gotta stop by her area before I leave. I'm a mess, I'm shaking like crazy, my heart is palpitating, I'm sweating feeling like I could pass out at any moment. I'm just counting the seconds til I'm in the comfort of my car with the door locked, AC on, and I'm alone again, All because of Lindsey R. attitude and actions today by standing there just staring, singling me out. Yelling the way she did. I at one point watched her personally prolong walking over to to me to enter her code into the machine so I could move forward with my transaction, by standing there and just stare at me with a smirk. Then finally walk toward me, like fine, whatever!! Then when it was all over I walked up to her handed her my receipt and she just waved me away like I was bothering her. Seriously?? Not making eye contact with me... nothing. I was PISSED!! I grabbed my cart & hustled outta there. No shopping experience is worth that. No one deserves this kind treatment at any location, by anyone, or at any age!! Period!! That's boarder line Bullying!! So Lindsey R. My boyfriend and I come here frequently in the evenings and we love it for the low prices. WinCo has a good bit of name brand products for much cheaper than you would find at other local stores. There is also a good selection of produce. COVID wise, this location has signage saying to wear a mask and keep distance and the employees wear masks. There is no one counting how many people are in the store or enforcing masks. It may just be because we go only in the evenings. WINCO- the name does mean something here, WINCO stands for Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California/Colorado and Oregon. All the states they started out in. They do have plenty of employees here if you need help with something, and the prices are very good in general! The one thing dont care much for, but will do it is that you have to bag your own groceries- so if that is a deal breaker for you, then Top Foods/Haggen and Winco are places to avoid, if you dont mind it- I would suggest going here as you can save some money here. read more

This is my go to store after hitting Costco. I come here once a month for big shopping. It is out the way for me but it is so worth it. EXCELLENT prices, on par with Walmart without the Walmart shopping experience (ugh). Wide aisles, fresh produce, excellent meat selection, nice deli, and bulk items galore. The prices are amazing. I save a lot of money each month shopping here. It is hard to find assistance as there aren't employees anywhere other than cashiering and tending to meat/bakery area so if you have a question it may take a while to get an answer but that is ok with me. A lot of people dont like Winco because you have to bag your own groceries. Since I am not a Hilton, I actually don't mind and like that i can put them the way I want. I make a game out of it, to see how fast I can bag. Honestly, who can't use a little exercise/movement anyway? I also love that you dont have to clip coupons or bring a stupid card to save money. The moment you walk into the store you see bulks of popular snacks, drinks, etc. My favorite part of the store is the back where they keep their Hawaiian bread rolls, sandwich slices, haa, they have it all! This is my go to grocery store. They have great prices and I can usually find the items I need. I love the bulk section for spices and other food items. I hate to buy a ton of one spice so this lets me get just what I need so I can always have fresh spices. Their produce section offers both organic and regular produce. I also buy my son's organic milk here for a decent price. He loves coming along for the shopping since Winco gives kids a free cookie in the bakery. Each has a reason for shopping there; each has its devoted customer base. If you want to buy bulk foods by the ounce or pound, Winco has the most extensive selection we've seen anywhere locally or in Southern California, our previous residence. It's mind boggling: nuts, flours, dried fruits, cereals, wrapped/unwrapped candies, bird seed, dog/cat kibble, dog treats, honey, spices, grains, oils, vinegar, agave, snack mixes, pretzels & chips, pork rinds, flavored popcorns, pastas, oats, pancake mix, lentils, salts, gravy mixes, rices, beans, and soup mixes. And of all the markets previously mentioned, it has the very lowest prices storewide with the possible exception of Trader Joe's. It's an experience. read more
