Black Husky is our favorite Brewery. We've been coming for over three years now and it remains our favorite spot! Black Husky is a must-visit when we are in town. First the neighborhood and location is adorable, quaint, and very cozy. You feel a part of a community the moment you walk in the door. The staff are a key component of that. The staff are friendly, helpful, chill, and welcoming of all people and doggies! The space is also great! A fantastic outdoor space with fire pits, a good sized brew space for events, and a wide open tap room for humans and canines to enjoy their time together! But of course, the beers are the highlight! Sproose IPA is one of our favorites. It actually tastes like you are drinking a pine forest! I also love their Gose, porters, and Oktoberfest. You really can't go wrong! Plus with plenty of snacks, clean facilities, nice bathrooms, neighborhood events, and great husky dog-sled decor, you really can't go wrong. Another great spot for pups and pints! Named after the owners' beloved Husky, Howler, this place is all about celebrating man's best friend with a good beer in hand! Love the Northwoods-y ambiance, and the nods to Howler and all our furry friends in the decor. Dogs are allowed inside and outside, and they also host a number of pup-friendly events including, Trivia and Live Music, among others. They've got a selection of small bites like popcorn and hot pretzels, which go great with their flagship beers and flights! Big fan of the Dogfather Pale Ale and their Gose Sours. Great bar and even better place to kick back and relax. Who wouldn't like to kick it at a place with your dog or that has dogs! So fun so cool. The outside is a great place to chillax in warmer weather. We had a gathering of friends and the let us bring in some appetizers (they don't serve food). This was a 2.5 experience but I can't justify giving 3 stars. I had a flight and of the 4 I tried I only enjoyed 1. The elderberry gose was absolutely perfect, but nothing else was better than decent. The atmosphere is nice and friendly but they have no real food options, just pre packed snacks. If you have a dog, they can join you inside and the dog theme is fun but the brews should be better, especially in Wisconsin. read more

I honestly cannot find a better brewery that is dog friendly than black husky in Milwaukee. Everytime I have been there, I've had the best time meeting the best people/staff and pupsters, all in one room while drinking the freshest and flavorful beer. They have a great selection on tap, I personally love the Dogfather and the Triple. Very rich taste and good smooth drink. They have a very good patio area with firepits which are a great hangout place even in winters. If you get hungry, Nessun Dorma delivers yummy sammies and salads to pair with the brews. They also have a ton of dog friendly treats and accessories. Don't forget to pick up a bag of treats for the four legged love of your life when you're here. Black Husky Brewing is a must visit. The street parking situation isn't easy, but it's worth it. It has a really cute "small log cabin" vibe, the service is wonderful, dogs are welcome (I've never visited without multiple cute puppers visiting), there's a nice outdoor patio area, and most importantly - they have good beer. We had a really fun time here. We showed up early in the afternoon, and we were surprised at how busy it was. It was a gorgeous day, so we headed on out to the patio to enjoy the sunshine. While outside there was a fitness class going on. It was somewhat like cross fit. They were being assigned various tasks and had to do them. This woman lifted this huge boulder. It took her 5 attempts, and when she finally got it the whole place cheered for her. It was fun to watch. We talked to a lot of locals while we were there. There are a bunch of fire pits for in the evenings. We both love dogs more than humans so the theme of the brewery was fitting :). The beer was cold and the service was great. Updating my review because it's been years and now Black Husky is our go to spot, whenever the season. Tim and the whole crew is the best, and provide such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you can't wait to go back. My dog Tootsie always has a grand time there (mostly cause she knows she'll get treats). I also appreciate that they updated their infrastructure to make customers safer with the pandemic, and free beers with vaccination? I'm there. We usually go every couple of weeks, my personal favorite is the dogfather. But you'll be feeling more than a buzz if you have more than 2 I also love the elderberry gose if you like sours. And PLEASE bring back the deck dog, it's one of my favorite beers, ever! Regardless, if you haven't been to Black Husky, you're missing out on the brews and cute dogs. read more

We finally made it to Black Husky and it was the perfect fall day to do so. The bar area is ample and cozy. I got a flight (Kolsch, Pils, Fall Harvest, Vain) and they were all delicious. Plus, $15 for a flight is a great deal. The patio is charming, right on a corner on Locust, and seeing all the doggies around made it all sweet and special. The beer selection is okay but like so many places it's rife with overhopped, juicy IPA's and their other beer styles suffer as a result. It's usually busy and the bar staff is efficient. Updated review: I don't disagree with anything I said previously, but I am bumping up to 5 stars. I've become something of a regular and I really enjoy the crowd and the owners. And the dogs. This is totally a good place to watch (and yes, if they're up to it, pet) dogs. It's funny how dogs operate their whole own level of conflict in public, quite separate from the people. The people are mostly down-to-earth and fun to talk to, and there are regulars. The beer is the draw, of course. I'm an IPA fan so I like the Vain and the Sproose. The Vain is technically a pale ale but has a similar flavor profile to IPA's. But I've liked some other beer styles, particularly the jodlerkoenig (Octoberfest, and I hope I spelled that right) and a couple of the weirder imperial styles (a Hefeweizen, for example.) They're not open late, but I can appreciate how they pick the thing they do and do it well. They do beer, and they keep things pretty laid-back. The late-night crowd can spoil things sometimes. There are plenty of other bars within walking distance that are open later. It's a good stop on a Riverwest adventure, and with dogs. read more

They have more of a focus on IPAs, which I'm not a big fan of super hoppy beers, so not really my taste, but still good. We also had the house-made grapefruit soda. This place has a very nice vibe. The place is super clean. The cashiers sanitized the card readers for every single customer. The staff makes sure to clean tables as the customer leaves to have tables ready for the next customers. Great customer service. They do a great job with following COVID-19 mandates, and they keep the areas very clean. Cleanness is their strength! People are allowed to bring their dogs inside, so you will see many friendly puppies. The beer is good (would it be anything else?). But here's what makes them stand out from all the rest: - DOGS - No food available, but you can bring it in and have it delivered - Ample, comfortable outdoor seating - Spot reserved at the bar for owners - Giant stuffed husky in the bar - Board games available to play Based on the Amazon, boxes, the side door that's locked but looks like the main door, and other little things, I think they're still getting settled. I visited Black Husky Brewing on 3/5/22 in the late afternoon around 4pm. Definitely a dog friendly environment & there were many patrons sitting outside with provided fire pits. The decor is a bit more homey than many craft breweries I've visited where the default is "industrial." I visit craft breweries as a hobby. This place had more kitsch and decorations like a welcoming inn or northern WI family owned tavern. It was very busy which tells me they have a good reputation with their Riverwest neighborhood. I was provided two free brewery stickers for my collection when asked, which I appreciate as it shows a pride in their brewery & a nice perk for visitors. I had a standard flight of 4 beers - two of the flight I liked more included a Lemon Ginger Gose and Chocolate Cherry Stout. Both had a good mouth feel & the gose had a balanced sourness that was complemented by the spice of the ginger. The stout's chocolate taste was not overly sweet and the taste profile settled more on the cocoa over the sugar. My bartenders were both friendly and helpful and added additional recommendations as to other breweries to visit nearby. I found I had a good visit and would recommend others to stop in when in Riverwest. read more

I don't think I could possibly have a better time anywhere else. These lovely people provide cozy seating, a warm and welcoming environment, fabulous beers on tap, and DOGS!!! Dogs EVERYWHERE! I basically spent my time crawling around the floor with dogs and sipping beer. Oh, and they are fundraising for organizations that support domestic violence survivors. What is the best kind of beer? Craft beer that's cheap, but not cheaply made. Great relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of room. Dogs allowed. Friendly bartenders. Another great Wisconsin brewery! Black Husky has a lot going for it. Milwaukee is a competitive beer scene to say the least and I would say they hold their own as a little guy amongst a lot of heavy hitters. Highest points in my book for the following: 1. They welcome dogs. Inside, outside, wherever. Cannot beat that. 2. Dog friendly...I've actually never seen a place that is SO dog friendly. They have an awesome patio with areas for dogs to play/relax/drink and inside has plenty of bowls of water and even spent grain treats for dogs as well. 2. Very cool brewery that opened not too long ago a bit north of downtown Milwaukee. They are very dog themed and dog friendly, as dogs are welcome with their owners, and there were several dogs there when I went. They have a solid selection of beers, with several pale ales. I got the dogfather and the original black husky pale ale, both very good, and then I got a bomber of the sprooce 2 double IPA to go. No food menu, but you're allowed to bring your own. I saw some people getting ready to host a baby shower of sorts, so I think you can maybe ask about private events. Tours are only on Saturdays so sadly didn't get to see it, but I've heard it's very funny. The owner that I talked to was super friendly and nice, and I very much hope to be back whenever I'm back in Milwaukee read more

Riverwest got lucky when Black Husky decided to bring their beer making show to town a few years ago. BH is a must visit for beer/dog lovers. A heads up, the weakest percentage beer is 6.4 with the exception of a Radler. Also there will be dogs. They ask owners to keep them on leashes but as we know, not all dog owners in this city hold onto the other end of the leash. But if you're good with getting sniffed a few times and drinking a cold strong one, Black Husky will not disappoint. Their patio with fire pits is awesome on a warm summer night. You had me with dogs in your name but hey the beers are solid as well. Had a first visit with a flight and some killer coffee mocha popcorn. Beers are flavorful and of good craft quality. IPA will keep me coming back. Space is inviting and having the namesake pup on site is super cool. So fun seeing other dogs chilling here. I have only great things to say about this wonderful Riverwest brewery. I consider myself very lucky they moved in just down the street from me. The atmosphere is perfectly laid back, especially on a crisp fall night on the patio around one of the fire rings. My favorite brewery in Milwaukee and this place is so welcoming, relaxed, and laid back. They have couches, comfortable chairs, board games, menus from local eateries, blankets, outdoor fireplaces, they play Wisconsin sports on TV, and even a large sandbox for kids. Bring your dogs because the brewery and most of the beers are named after those four legged friends, so you better they are extremely doggie friendly. Stellar beers and they dabble in the usage of experimental hops, spruce tips, toasted coconut, and barrel aged brews. The brewers, owners, and staff are all good peoples. A true gem of Riverwest and get there in the warmer months and enjoy the Gardners Market across the street for a one-two combo punch! read more
