Being a huge craft beer enthusiast, this was a let down. We were beyond excited and looking forward to Prosper having a brewery but man, what a waste of space and equipment. Food was ok but overpriced. The "Black Hawk" beer and beer colabs they had are terrible. This is not a brewery in my opinion. I feel like they wanted the "brewery" in their name to attract the crowd.. This is more along the feel of Union Bear or BJs Brewhouse which is unfortunate. read more

Okay! 30 day update...going there weekly, as the food deserves that kind of attention, and did I mention this is a Brewery! Make your way in folks, if you haven't made the time, make the time! Friendly bar staff and waitstaff. 3rd floor bar/balcony is incredible. Don't be fooled by the stillness in the air, go up that high and there is nothing blocking the nice breeze. Do NOT go here if you have an out of state DL/ID! Went for a birthday celebration. They refused to serve the guests with out of state DL suggesting they were fake because they were too flimsy. Both were Louisiana DL, one being a CDL. Absolutely ridiculous! read more

I was there earlier tonight, hoping for a good first time experience, but I was HIGHLY let down by the staff. my party walked in, and after 5 mins of no one at the host stand, I asked the first available waitstaff how we get a seat. I was told someone will be with me... 5 mins later I had to stop the same waitress, asking if we can just go upstairs.. sure there will be a host there... we'll same thing... 5 mins goes by, nothing so I ask a waiter HOW. DO.YOU.GET.A.TABLE.IN.THIS.RESTAURAUNT?!... oh there should be a host... no crap... 15 minutes in and no one has asked to seat us, acknowledge us or anothing... this is AT 7:73 PM ON A FRIDAY... NO SERVICE AT ALL... As we sat down I asked the server who is this Payton girl that gets all of the amazing reviews. She answered and said "I am Payton". So out of the gate I observed her behavior and interaction and she is a 5 star server. BTW she rides horses, loves mares, works on her family's cattle ranch but also said has cut back on her hours working at Black Hawk. She also said the owner is great to work for. Now the food and brew / had to give 3.5 stars...very limited menu and variety of beers, especially what is their own craft beer. Texas burger was good but not much else to choose from. Because of this I believe Black Hawk will have a problem getting repeat customers. It needs to definitely expand the choices of beer offered and not sure if beer is made on site or sourced somewhere. We tasted a few samples of beer and they were not anything memorable. I hope they expand the types of beer and food as it may not work for Black Hawk long term. Great atmosphere and views from the roof top bar. Burgers were good, but salads were not so good. We were surprised about being charged 50c for a tiny portion of balsamic vinegar. My kids enjoyed the couches from which they could watch football. My son was very excited to see the train roll on by and we exploring the silos opposite the bar after dinner. I visited during the soft opening and ordered the Caesar Salad and honey pepper coconut Shrimp. The salad was cold and crunchy, with pizza dough crumble croutons that were delectable--I'm a crouton enthusiast. The shrimp were excellently crispy, and the spicy aioli added wonderful depth to the dish. We enjoyed the two beers they had on tap and are looking forward to trying more. The service was excellent, with attentive staff. Special thanks to Misty for her wonderful service. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere, and I can't wait to check out the upstairs patio. We waited 30 minutes to get any service at all, the drinks took another 15 minutes to arrive. We ordered the queso and it was tasteless and practically water, not to mention the "homemade" chips, that were not good at all. We decided at that point to pay our tab and go somewhere else. The beer was VERY good, but not enough to save the experience. Hopefully they will get through their growing pains. They should definitely consider adding the PourThat app to their Toast system, as it might help with the speed of service. read more

It was very good! Our waiter was AMAZING! He throughly explained the menu and told us what his favorites were. We had the cherry cola stout, chocolate, and prosper nights stout and they were all so good! The cherry cola stout was 10/10- we were so impressed. The pepperoni pizza was delicious! Jalepeno poppers were good, but missing something. Fish and chips were super good! Just soggy on the parts that were on the fries- they need to serve them separate. If you're an IPA or Ultra fan you won't find a huge selection. But then again, they haven't been open for long and they just replaced the entire staff. The Milk Stout is out of this world. I have been to at least 100 breweries from Florida to Texas and this is the best Stout Ever. read more

I've been looking forward to trying this new brewery. Sadly I didn't really like any of their beers, they only have 7 different ones...2 were IPA, 1 a stout and the others were an amber ale, golden ale and whatever a "table beer" is. Husband and I went here for lunch today to try it out. He had the Golden Ale which he said was great. He ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and I ordered the specially burger... Double smash with onion straws and sautéed jalapeños - both were awesome! The ambience was good--great bar with lots of TVs... Would be a great place to watch college football. When weather cools down, the upstairs bar/patio has incredible views and will be another great space (just too hot right now). Service was good but not great. Our waiter was also working behind the bar making drinks. Hopefully they will add more servers which will alleviate this problem. We will definitely be back read more

Our server was awesome, but the owner needs to tend to some issues . The bathrooms upstairs were outta service, the fans upstairs are broken, the AC in the main restaurant seemed to have gone out, and the elevator was broken so the poor staff was carrying food up the stairs in the heat. The food was "okay." I was concerned about the care being taken with the food quality (refrigeration and such) given the other issues we experienced in the restaurant. I feel bad for the staff. Hopefully the owners will tend to the maintenance issues and stay consistent because it seems like a great concept overall. read more

Very disappointed by Black Hawk Brewery. This was our first time visiting for a date night without kids. Lots of TVs was a plus with a variety of sporting events playing. Very few, almost no gluten-free foods. I was told they didn't have corn tortillas(this would be an easy swap to make the shrimp tacos gluten-friendly). I ordered GF pizza but was brought a regular pizza. Sent it back and they brought the GF but it was not cut at all. So I had to get up and find someone to send the pizza back(again) to cut it so I could eat. On top of all this it was extremely hot and very loud. My husband got a beer that wasn't great and my ranch water was just ok. Overall, not worth the price and very disappointing. read more

It's March Madness & baseball opening day (Thursday night) I was surprised by the availability of seating & the slowness of staff. We headed upstairs since baseball was on TV's downstairs. Found a clean table (a couple needed to be cleaned). Waited for someone to help us but had to grab our own menus from a stack which we needed to wipe down. We each had 1 cocktail (one woodford old fashioned) if market price is charged at least toss in the cherry! The spicy margarita didn't disappoint. Both cocktails were good other than no cherry in the old fashioned. We ordered 1 app (pretzel bites) & 1 double burger, both came out at the same time. Food was fine, not bad not great, but not worth the cost. Our bill for the two of us was ~$70 (pre tip) $35 - $40/pp for 1/2 pretzel bites & 1/2 burger. While we like this place & hope it does well, the food/service is not worth the price. Sadly, there is a lot of competition just based on what we paid (which I'm happy to pay for a good meal) it will keep us away due to cost. read more

Food was really good. Wait staff was a little slow and misdirected the evening we were there all be it pretty busy. Didn't get a chance to grab another drink before I left which was disappointing because the beer was really good. We had a table right next to the door which made it super cold when people were coming in and out. We also tried the brownie desert which was great but was in a small glass jar that was not designed for sharing with others at the table as we intended to do and instead seems like it was made for a single person. A larger plate or bowl would be a better design for sharing. Lastly, we had a difficult time getting the football game on tv instead of NCIS. They hosted a surprise party for my wife. They handled everything. Set up was solid. We ordered multiple pizzas and they are fantastic. I strongly suggest the pepperoni, which I have had there before. Service was spectacular. Not sure the spelling but Payton was working her tail off and took great care of us, all 40+ of us. Throw in she had a great attitude and personality. We will be looking for her every time we go in there. Their craft brews are fantastic. I told them they need to sell in stores. I really wanted to like this place. It's new and the decor is great. Menu selections were standard bar fare. I went for the Black Hawk Reuben. They state on the menu that the pastrami is cured in house. It looked great, but the pastrami was not thin slices, but large chunks. The chunks were tough to bite through, so large portions of the pastrami came out of the sandwich with almost every bite, so that when the meat was gone, I had half an empty sandwich sitting on my plate. I ordered an IPA--nothing special, 7% ABV--and they served it to me in a tiny snifter that would be appropriate for an Imperial IPA or strong ale, 9%+ ABV. That the beer would come in less than a pint glass was not disclosed on the menu. For that reason, I felt I the value proposition was lacking. So, I probably won't be back. read more

Love that we have a new restaurant in Downtown Prosper. I was happy with the appetizer we ordered Coconut Shrimp and the Pretzel bites. Fish and chips were a bit soggy and the batter is bland needs some sort of seasoning. The fries were very good. We were there there a week after opening. Everybody else's food was tasty.
