I have eaten in here twice in quick succession. Stopped in for a quick meal before a nearby event and had a kale salad, which is simply sublime--the mix of savory (kale, farro, walnuts), a touch of sweet (dried cranberries) and the rich tang of manchego--and we're not talking a drizzle, we are talking honking large chunks of high end manchego dusting your salad like a snowstorm... one of the best things I've eaten in some time. I know what you might be thinking, just a salad? But an incredibly filling, satiating salad, and with the added frisson of feeling somewhat healthy... it was hard to avoid ordering on my next visit! But try other things I did upon dining here with my fiancée, to great success! For appetizers, we shared several plates, which were also quite enjoyable, with highlights being the Artichoke Crostini (featuring parmesan and Manchego) and the Butternut Squash Soup topped with roasted pepitas was delightful (actually featuring zero cheese!). The spring pear salad (arugula, goat cheese, zucchini, pear, pomegranate, walnuts) was quite solid--zucchini perhaps a tad overwhelming the other ingredients, but still enjoyable, and of course we had to try a cheese plate--as I indicated above, their cheese selection is amazing--I doubt you can go wrong, but their Manchego is truly amazing, and the Barely Buzzed--with ground espresso crust--are stunners. We had an excellent blue cheese as well. Drinks were fine--not my favorite part of the experience, but good enough. Wine was ok too--did have a "dry" white that I didn't feel met the description--but the beer list is quite interesting. They do offer good happy hour drink deals as well--though they didn't include some of the more adventurous cocktail options... perhaps I should come back later and try those. The back is charming--calling it a speakeasy or "hidden" cocktail bar is a bit of a stretch, but it is nicely portioned off from the store, and there is a cool outdoor area as well. Staff is super helpful, particularly in the restaurant portion. The provisions/cheese slicing up front can be a little slow moving but again, damn if that cheese isn't worth any kind of wait!

Crystal is the SUPERSTAR of the bar and handled taking orders for an event of 70+ people with as much swiftness and expertise that can be expected of a pro. My one thorn (out of this very beautiful rose) is that the event itself was understaffed. Many people weren't being served unless they ordered at the bar (and these were people with mobility issues). Also only 2 bartenders and 1 server bringing out food for people for an event that's 70+ is just a lot for staff to handle by themselves and can cause understandable frustrations. Even thought it took awhile to order, once food and drinks were inputted they came out pretty quickly. I had some of the buffalo chicken wings with fries and the wings were BOMB.COM! Saturday we arrived and had to wait at the bar for a table for 4 for about 15 minutes. The bar area is really cute and intimate. My partner and I had yummy espresso martinis and my friend enjoyed a Negroni while we waited. Once seated, we decided on a carafe of the house red wine. We shared everything we ordered below. Fresh Baked Focaccia & Whipped Ricotta: One of my favorites. The ricotta was super savory and light and this was an easy shareable crowd pleaser. Crispy Brussel Sprouts: Seasoned and cooked well. My partner loved these. Shrimp Paccheri: This was one of the evening specials. We really liked the tender pieces of shrimp and I thought the wide noodles were fun and chewy just how I like them. Cacio e Pepe: We had to order this and weren't disappointed. Delicious and I would recommend! Carbonara Pizza: A bit of a wild card and not my favorite thing we tried but for carbonara lovers I think you'll love. The ingredients were quality and that reflected. I'm so glad we made room for dessert because this was a highlight for me. Tiramisu: Came in a cute cup so you could see the layers within. Not too sweet but just creamy enough. Milk Ricotta Cheesecake: This was an underdog for me. The cheesecake was delicate yet rich but not overly heavy. The cherries and sauce on top were *chefs kiss* Gelato: I don't know how they make this but it tasted how the videos I've been watching about authentic Italian gelato say it should taste. Subtle but not a hint of artificial flavor or sweetness. Nutty and a muted green color. If I had a tub of this in my freezer...I wouldn't for long.
